BOSTON LEGAL-18 U.S. Code § 241 - Conspiracy against rights | US Law | LII / Legal Information Institute
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 14:08
§'¯241.
Conspiracy against rights
If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or
If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured'--
They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 696; Pub. L. 90''284, title I, §'¯103(a), Apr. 11, 1968 , 82 Stat. 75; Pub. L. 100''690, title VII, §'¯7018(a), (b)(1), Nov. 18, 1988 , 102 Stat. 4396; Pub. L. 103''322, title VI, §'¯60006(a), title XXXII, §§'¯320103(a), 320201(a), title XXXIII, §'¯330016(1)(L), Sept. 13, 1994 , 108 Stat. 1970, 2109, 2113, 2147; Pub. L. 104''294, title VI, §§'¯604(b)(14)(A), 607(a), Oct. 11, 1996 , 110 Stat. 3507, 3511.)Historical and Revision Notes Based on title 18, U.S.C., 1940 ed., §'¯51 (Mar. 4, 1909, ch. 321, §'¯19, 35 Stat. 1092).
Clause making conspirator ineligible to hold office was omitted as incongruous because it attaches ineligibility to hold office to a person who may be a private citizen and who was convicted of conspiracy to violate a specific statute. There seems to be no reason for imposing such a penalty in the case of one individual crime, in view of the fact that other crimes do not carry such a severe consequence. The experience of the Department of Justice is that this unusual penalty has been an obstacle to successful prosecutions for violations of the act.
Mandatory punishment provision was rephrased in the alternative.
Minor changes in phraseology were made.
Amendments 1996'--Pub. L. 104''294, §'¯607(a), substituted ''any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District'' for ''any State, Territory, or District'' in first par.
Pub. L. 104''294, §'¯604(b)(14)(A), repealed Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯320103(a)(1). See 1994 Amendment note below.
1994'--Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯330016(1)(L), substituted ''They shall be fined under this title'' for ''They shall be fined not more than $10,000'' in third par.
Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯320201(a), substituted ''person in any State'' for ''inhabitant of any State'' in first par.
Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯320103(a)(2)''(4), in third par., substituted ''results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both'' for ''results, they shall be subject to imprisonment for any term of years or for life''.
Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯320103(a)(1), which provided for amendment identical to Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯330016(1)(L), above, was repealed by Pub. L. 104''294, §'¯604(b)(14)(A).
Pub. L. 103''322, §'¯60006(a), substituted '','or may be sentenced to death.'' for period at end of third par.
1988'--Pub. L. 100''690 struck out ''of citizens'' after ''rights'' in section catchline and substituted ''inhabitant of any State, Territory, or District'' for ''citizen'' in text.
1968'--Pub. L. 90''284 increased limitation on fines from $5,000 to $10,000 and provided for imprisonment for any term of years or for life when death results.

Tim Cook 'disagrees' with Donald Trump's response to Charlottesville violence | TechCrunch
Thu, 17 Aug 2017 20:58
Apple CEO Tim Cook has criticized U.S. President Trump's reaction to the violent events that took place over the weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia, which left one woman dead.
''I disagree with the president and others who believe that there is a moral equivalence between white supremacists and Nazis, and those who oppose them by standing up for human rights. Equating the two runs counter to our ideals as Americans,'' Cook wrote in an email to staff that was obtained by TechCrunch.
Cook previously tweeted that America must ''stand against'' white supremacy and racist violence, and he revealed that Apple will make $1 million donations to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League.
The company will also match employee donations, on a two-for-one basis, and it plans to introduce a donation option within iTunes soon.
''What occurred in Charlottesville has no place in our country. Hate is a cancer, and left unchecked it destroys everything in its path. Its scars last generations. History has taught us this time and time again, both in the United States and countries around the world,'' Cook wrote.
President Trump has been roundly condemned by politicians, business leaders and other prominent figures for apportioning blame to both sides for violence and failing to denounce the extreme right protesters, which included links to neo-nazis and other hate groups.
Outside of opening rifts inside his party and administration, the President's comments led to the closure of his Strategic and Policy Forum, a group made up of business leaders from various industries, after a number of members quit. Intel CEO Brian Krzanich indicated he left the group because the President did not ''condemn hate speech or white supremacy by name.''
Apple is among the tech companies to have taken action following the violent events over the weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia, having disabled support for Apple Pay for white supremacist websites selling Nazi merchandize.
PayPal took a similar step to Apple, Digital Ocean and Cloudflare ditched neo-nazi website The Daily Stormer '-- following similar moves from companies including GoDaddy, Google, SendGrid and Zoho '-- while Spotify and Squarespace also took action against the extreme right.
Here's Cook's letter to Apple staff in full:
Team,
Like so many of you, equality is at the core of my beliefs and values. The events of the past several days have been deeply troubling for me, and I've heard from many people at Apple who are saddened, outraged or confused.
What occurred in Charlottesville has no place in our country. Hate is a cancer, and left unchecked it destroys everything in its path. Its scars last generations. History has taught us this time and time again, both in the United States and countries around the world.
We must not witness or permit such hate and bigotry in our country, and we must be unequivocal about it. This is not about the left or the right, conservative or liberal. It is about human decency and morality. I disagree with the president and others who believe that there is a moral equivalence between white supremacists and Nazis, and those who oppose them by standing up for human rights. Equating the two runs counter to our ideals as Americans.
Regardless of your political views, we must all stand together on this one point '-- that we are all equal. As a company, through our actions, our products and our voice, we will always work to ensure that everyone is treated equally and with respect.
I believe Apple has led by example, and we're going to keep doing that. We have always welcomed people from every walk of life to our stores around the world and showed them that Apple is inclusive of everyone. We empower people to share their views and express themselves through our products.
In the wake of the tragic and repulsive events in Charlottesville, we are stepping up to help organizations who work to rid our country of hate. Apple will be making contributions of $1 million each to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. We will also match two-for-one our employees' donations to these and several other human rights groups, between now and September 30.
In the coming days, iTunes will offer users an easy way to join us in directly supporting the work of the SPLC.
Dr. Martin Luther King said, ''Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.'' So, we will continue to speak up. These have been dark days, but I remain as optimistic as ever that the future is bright. Apple can and will play an important role in bringing about positive change.
Best,
Tim

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says it's 'hard to believe' he has to defend himself and Trump. Then he does - LA Times
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 12:47
Aug. 19, 2017, 6:53 p.m.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin issued a statement Saturday in response to comments from his Yale classmates and others that he "speak out" about President Trump's response to Charlottesville.
Mnuchin and Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao flanked Trump on Tuesday during what was supposed to be a news conference about infrastructure. Instead, the questions quickly turned to the president's delay in directly condemning white supremacist groups who had marched in Charlottesville with tiki torches and carrying KKK and Nazi symbols.
Mnuchin, who is Jewish, said in his statement that he believed he understood the "long history of violence and hatred against the Jews (and other minorities.)"
Saying he found it "hard to believe I should have to defend myself on this, or the president, I feel compelled to let you know that the president in no way, shape or form believes that neo-Nazis and other hate groups who endorse violence are equivalent to groups who protest in peaceful and lawful ways."
Mnuchin referenced his years at Yale as making him "familiar with the culture wars being fought in our country."
He called those issues "more complicated than we have been led to believe by the mass media."
He also said Trump "deserves the opportunity to propose his agenda" without efforts by others to "distract the administration and the American people from these most important policy issues -- jobs, economic growth and national security."
Adding that he did not "believe the allegations against the president are accurate," Mnuchin said "having highly talented men and women" serve the Trump administration should be "reassuring to you and all the American people."
Democratic Missouri Senator: ''I Hope Trump Is Assassinated!''
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 11:46
A Missouri state senator, Maria Chappelle-Nadal (D-University City), has landed herself in a bit of hot water with with the U.S. Secret Service today after posting, then deleting, a comment on Facebook which read, ''I hope Trump is assassinated!''
Unfortunately, as Chappelle-Nadal should have learned at this point in her life, the internet never forgets and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch managed to get their hands on the post: (See above image )
Asked about the comment, Chappelle-Nadal later told the Post-Dispatch that she was just ''frustrated'' and didn't really mean it.
''I didn't mean what I put up. Absolutely not. I was very frustrated. Things have got to change.''
That said, and again a lesson Chappelle-Nadal probably should have learned at this point in her life, the Secret Service tends to take threats on the life of the President seriously and has already confirmed they're investigating the situation.
'...
The U.S. Secret Service's St. Louis field office ''is looking into this,'' the office confirmed.
Kristina Schmidt, special agent in charge, told the Post-Dispatch that ''hypothetically'' in such investigations, agents try to ''determine intent, to determine if there was a violation of federal law. If there is, then we refer it to the U.S. Attorney.''
''Our primary goal is to determine if there is intent and meaning behind it,'' Schmidt said.
Meanwhile, Chappelle-Nadal told the Post-Dispatch that her comment was posted in response to ''concerns that I am hearing from residents of St. Louis.''
'...
Chappelle-Nadal said that in the wake of Charlottesville, ''there are people who are afraid of white supremacists, there are people who are having nightmares. there are people who are afraid of going out in the streets. It's worse than even Ferguson.''
So, if we understand the logic flow correctly, Chappelle-Nadal apparently figured that killing President Trump would rid the world of hate groups and simultaneously address all of the concerns of her constituents in St. Louis?
Google's stance on neo-Nazis 'dangerous', says EFF - BBC News
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 11:25
Image copyright Getty Images Image caption Events in Charlottesville have spurred a national conversation in the US about far-right groups, free speech and censorship Decisions by Google, GoDaddy and Cloudflare to eject a neo-Nazi site from their services were "dangerous", a US-based digital rights group has said.
The Daily Stormer had denigrated 32-year-old Heather Heyer who died while protesting against a far-right rally in Charlottesville.
This led to a backlash in which multiple web firms kicked the site off their platforms.
But the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has now criticised this response.
"We strongly believe that what GoDaddy, Google, and Cloudflare did here was dangerous," the EFF said.
"Because internet intermediaries, especially those with few competitors, control so much online speech, the consequences of their decisions have far-reaching impacts on speech around the world."
It added that it believed "no-one" - including the government and private companies - should decide who is able to speak or not.
"We wholeheartedly agree with the concerns raised by the EFF," said Cloudflare chief executive Matthew Prince.
"They reflect the same concerns we raised in our blog."
Mr Prince had said that explained that he made his decision after the Daily Stormer's administrators suggested that Cloudflare supported their cause.
Google and GoDaddy said earlier in the week that they were cancelling the Daily Stormer's registration with Google Domains as it had violated the terms of service.
The Daily Stormer is currently inaccessible on the open web, after various domain providers and hosting firms - including one in Russia - banned it from their services.
However, it has relocated to the dark web.
Dark web network Tor has said it has no plans to stop the Daily Stormer from using its technology.
"Tor is designed to defend human rights and privacy by preventing anyone from censoring things, even us," the Tor Project explained in a blog post.
But the list of businesses that have shut out the Daily Stormer and other neo-Nazi or white nationalist sites has now grown very large.
Payment giants Mastercard, Visa , Paypal and American Express all said this week that they would take a tough stance on sites that engaged in illegal activities.
Paypal, for example, mentioned sites that incite hate, racial intolerance or violence.
And music streaming services offered by Google, Deezer and Spotify have said they would remove music that incites violence, hatred or racism.
Spotify said: "We are glad to have been alerted to this content - and have already removed many of the bands identified, while urgently reviewing the remainder."
PressTV-Rival protesters face off after Barcelona attack

Scuffles have broken out between far-right anti-Islam protesters and anti-fascist activists during counter demonstrations held in the Spanish city of Barcelona, a deadly Daesh terror attack.
Simultaneous protests organized by the extreme Falange group and a huge crowed of counter-demonstrators in Barcelona degenerated into a brawl on Friday, prompting police to intervene.
The demonstrators gathered outside Las Ramblas, the pedestrian mall which had been the scene of the Daesh terrorist attack a day earlier.
The far-right group chanted slogans such as ''Terrorists are not welcome'' and ''Stop the Islamization of Europe,'' but they were met with counter-chants of ''Nazis out'' and ''Barcelona anti-fascista.''

Outnumbered by the counter-protesters, Falange supporters were later forced to abandon the demonstration and escorted away from the scene by police.
On Thursday, a van rammed into a multitude of people on Rambla Avenue in the center of Barcelona, killing at least 14 and injuring some 100 others. The driver fled the scene after the attack.
The vehicle traveled several hundred meters, running over pedestrians and cyclists on its way, before stopping at a decorative mosaic near a subway station.

The incident was the deadliest attack in Spain since March 2004, when militants bombed commuter trains in Madrid, killing over 190 people and wounding more than 1,800.
In another incident in the town of Cambrils on Friday, 100 kilometers away from Barcelona, five ''alleged terrorists'' drove into pedestrians in the early hours of Friday morning before being shot dead by security forces.
One of the pedestrians died and six others sustained injuries in the second attack.

HuffPo Publishes 'Goy, Bye' Headline After Bannon Ouster | Daily Wire
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 12:24
After news broke of Steve Bannon's White House ouster, Huffington Post published a rather odd header on their website:
For those who may be unaware, the word ''goy'' comes from the Bible. In Hebrew, ''goy'' simply means ''nation.'' The word is used approximately 558 times in the Old Testament. Additionally, as Dictionary.com writes, ''goy'' is ''a term used by a Jew to refer to someone who is not Jewish.''
There is a modicum of controversy attached to the word, as it can also be used as a pejorative, implying "a contempt for non-Jews as being different from or even inferior to Jews," according to Dictionary.com.
The reaction to HuffPo's headline was mixed. Some didn't seem to care, and even liked it:
Others took exception:
The Daily Wire's own Aaron Bandler may have hit the nail on the head when he tweeted: ''If even Keith Olbermann is going after you, then you really messed up, @HuffPost.''
Shortly after the troubles, the header changed to ''White Flight.''

Erdogan warns German foreign minister to 'know your limits'

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday told German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel to "know your limits" after he vehemently criticised the Turkish leader for interfering in Germany's upcoming elections.
"He knows no limits! Who are you to talk to the president of Turkey? Know your limits. He is trying to teach us a lesson... How long have you been in politics? How old are you?" Erdogan said in a bitter personal attack on Gabriel.
Erdogan had a day earlier caused consternation in Berlin by urging ethnic Turks in Germany to vote against both parties in Chancellor Angela Merkel's ruling coalition in the September 24 legislative elections.
Gabriel condemned Erdogan's comments as an "unprecedented act of interference" in Germany's sovereignty.
"Of course they got uncomfortable. They all started jumping up and down," remarked Erdogan in a speech to supporters in the southwestern province of Denizli.
Erdogan repeated his controversial call to ethnic Turks eligible to vote in the German elections not to cast their ballots for Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU), their coalition partner the Social Democratic Party (SPD) or the Greens.
"Teach them (the three parties) a lesson in the German elections. They are waging a campaign against Turkey. Vote for those who don't have enmity towards Turkey."
He added: "It's not important for us whether Germany opens its doors to us or not. We have enough doors."
"We will go to countries that have opened their doors and we will open our doors to them," said Erdogan.
Analysts estimate that some 1.2 million people of Turkish origin will have the right to vote in the September polls as German citizens.

Finland commemorates Turku victims, police re-enact attack | Yle Uutiset | yle.fi
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 14:05
Poliisi lavasti sunnuntaina aamulla Turun keskustassa uudelleen perjantain tapahtumat. Video: Yle Finland observed a national minute of silence at 10 am Sunday, honouring the victims of Friday's fatal knife attacks in Turku. Two people were killed and eight others wounded.
Shortly before the moment of silence, police in the south-western Finnish city staged a reconstruction of Friday's events as part of the investigation.
Traffic in the vicinity was briefly interrupted during the re-enactment.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which is leading the probe, earlier issued a notification of the event over social media, saying: "In the context of criminal investigation, #poliisi will reconstruct the Turku stabbings at the crime scene in the morning of 20 Aug 2017. There will be a lot of police officers and other staff present in Turku. No need to worry." It added that the local Southwestern Finland Police Department "will release more info later on."
Police to interrogate suspect on SundayThe reconstruction was carried out around the central Market Square and Puutori square, including the streets of Kauppiaskatu and Maariankatu. It lasted about 45 minutes.
The NBI says that it is hard at work on unravelling the events of Friday and what lead up to them. The agency promises more information at 2 pm Sunday.
In the meantime NBI officers intend to interview the main suspect through an interpreter. The 18-year-old Moroccan man, who had been living at a local reception centre, remains in hospital after being shot in the leg by police on Friday. On Saturday police said he refused to answer any questions.
The case is being investigated as suspected terror-related murders and attempted murders.
Authorities have been questioning four other Moroccan men who were swept up in raids late Friday and early Saturday. An international warrant has been issued for a fifth man who is wanted for questioning.
On Sunday, four patients were still at Turku University Hospital. Three were in intensive care, including the main suspect. Doctors say all are in stable condition.

Policewoman kills FOUR jihadis in Barcelona | Daily Mail Online
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 18:21
A hero policewoman surrounded by drugged-up jihadis wearing 'Coke can' suicide vests killed four out of five of them herself and saved an injured colleague, it was revealed today.
The terrorists carrying knives and an axe bailed out of their overturned Audi A3 used to plough into crowds on the seafront in Cambrils on the Costa Dorada at 1am today, killing a woman, 61, from Zaragoza, and injuring six others.
Two police officers were on a routine foot patrol when one was hit by the car and within seconds her partner pulled out a handgun and killed four of them as they charged her.
The fifth terrorist ran into a park and was gunned down minutes later by a policeman - but clambered to his feet with a smile on his face and ran at armed officers who eventually needed 15 bullets to kill him.
Today Catalan police chief Josep Luis Trapero confirmed a single officer, who was meant to be on holiday this week, killed four of the terrorists and said: 'To kill four people, even if you are a professional, is not easy to digest', adding the officer was now receiving psychological support.
Eight hours earlier a 'linked' ISIS van assault on the packed Los Ramblas boulevard in Barcelona killed 13 including a three-year-old girl and injured at least 100 victims from 34 different countries.
Fitzroy Davies, from Wolverhampton, described how officers gunned down one of the Cambrils jihadis and filmed the moment he rose to his feet in a scene he compared to a 'horror film'.
He said: 'He must have been on drugs. He took the first round of shots he fell on the floor, and then within two seconds, I thought I was watching a film, one of them horror films, the guy just stood up. He was taunting, smiling, laughing and he carried on walking to the police, and then they gave it to him again, a couple more shots and then he fell to the ground'.
He said that his suicide belt 'looked fake', adding: 'It looked like he was wearing Coke cans on him'.
ISIS has been feeding its fighters cheap super-amphetamine pills called Captagon, used to induce euphoria and increase adrenaline during their murderous missions.
This is the overturned Audi A3 used by a gang of five jihadis in suicide belts who ploughed into crowds in the seaside town of Cambrils. The attack 70 miles from Barcelona came eight hours after 13 were killed in the Catalan city in a van attack
Shocking video footage shows bodies strewn across the ground in the seaside town and police have confirmed one officer killed four out of five of the terrorists (pictured)
This is the moment a jihadi (pictured centre) in a fake suicide vest is finally shot dead - seconds after he was gunned down and got up again to walk towards police
British witness Fitzroy Davies said the jihadi (far left in a pink T-shirt) was smiling and ranting and raving at officers (right behind the car) who initially failed to kill him (centre, far left) and had to open fire again after he got up (right)
The terrorist gunned down twice lies dead on the ground - four of the five jihadis were shot dead by the same hero policeman, it emerged today
The killers, wearing fae explosive belts and clutching knives, bailed out of the shattered Audi and were seen smiling and shouting taunts at police shot them dead in the street at around 1am local time
Moroccan-born Moussa Oukabir, 18, who lives in Barcelona, has been named as a suspect in the Las Ramblas attack after reportedly stealing his brother's ID to rent the van and is still on the run
Police are hunting (left to right) terror quartet Moussa Oukabir, Said Aallaa, Mohamed Hychami and Younes Abouyaaqoub, over the two terror attacks in Catalonia
The van used to plough into crowds in Barcelona is towed away by police in the early hours of this morning with the driver still believed to be at large
Spanish security forces escort a friend of two Moroccan-born brothers linked to the Barcelona plot after arresting him in the town of Ripoll, Catalonia
The terror began in Barcelona yesterday afternoon and spread to Cambrils overnight and police believe the terror cell has a safe house in Alcanar and has links to Moroccan brothers from Ripoll. The coast south of Barcelona has a reputation as a hotbed for terrorists and a key meeting to plan 9/11 was held a few miles from Cambrils
THE TERRORISTS KILLED AND SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER THE BARCELONA ATTACKSAs of Friday morning, four people have been arrested and six people have been killed in connection with the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambril.
The four arrested include one Spanish and one Moroccan national.
One man handed himself in to police on Thursday evening: This is Driss Oukabir, 28, a Moroccan national living in Ripoll, 65 miles north of Barcelona.
He claims he is not connected and that his identity documents had been stolen by his younger brother.
Moussa Oukabir, 18, is now being hunted by police, thought to have been the driver of the van on Las Ramblas that killed 13 and injured 100.
Thursday also saw one man arrested in Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona, where the gas explosion in a house is being investigated.
One man died in this explosion, who has since been linked to the attacks last night.
Police believe the house where the explosion took place was being used as a bomb factory by the terrorists.
The third arrest, a man of unknown nationality, was also made in Ripoll, on Friday morning.
He is reportedly the driver of a For Focus which smashed though a police checkpoint on Thursday.
The driver fled the scene, leaving behind the car in which police found the car's owner stabbed to death.
Five men wearing fake suicide belts were shot dead by police after they launched a second terrorist attack in Cambrils, 70 miles southwest of Barcelona at 1am Friday morning, injuring seven people by driving an Audi A3 into crowds on the seafront.
Eight hours earlier an ISIS jihadi drove a van at 60mph through crowds of people on Barcelona's famous Las Ramblas promenade - Spain's busiest tourist street - which was 'jam-packed' with holidaymakers and locals.
Police are today hunting for Europe's most wanted man Moussa Oukabir, an 18-year-old Moroccan-born teenager believed to have been the driver. He fled on foot and it is unclear if he joined the Cambrils attack. Three of his young friends are also on the run.
His brother Driss' ID was used to rent up to three vans including the one in the attack but he has handed himself into police and denied any involvement. He is among four people arrested.
Police are linking the Barcelona and Cambrils attacks and believe the terror cell with up to 12 members had a base in the resort town of Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona, where a house-cum-bomb factory packed with gas canisters was destroyed in an explosion on Wednesday killing one man and injuring another.
Five jihadis have been shot dead and four men including Driss Oukabir, 28, have been arrested.
A fourth suspect was gunned down in his car as he rammed officers at a roadblock in Sant Just Desvern, Barcelona. But Spanish media said he may have been the victim of a hijacking because he also had knife wounds.
As ISIS terrorists caused carnage in one of Europe's great cities once again, it emerged today:
13 were killed and at least 100 injured after an ISIS jihadi used a white Fiat van as a weapon on Los Ramblas, Barcelona at 4pm yesterday; The driver flees the scene after driving at 60mph along 500 yards of road swerving to hit men, women and children including dozens of tourists;Fugitive Moussa Oukabir, an 18-year-old Moroccan-born teenager, is Europe's most wanted man and is believed to have been the driver of the van; Three other Moroccans Mohamed Hychami, 24, Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22, and Said Aallaa, 18, are also on the run;Moussa may have rented up to three vehicles using his brother Driss' ID and his 28-year-old older sibling has since handed himself in to police and is among four suspects arrested, including some mutual friends; At 1am a second terror attack takes place in Cambrils , a seaside resort around 70 miles from Barcelona. An Audi A3 with five jihadis on board ploughs through crowds killing one woman and injuring six more including a policeman. Their car turns over and they bail out with knives before being shot dead by police in the street;Police say a house in Alcanar , further along the Costa Dorada from Barcelona, exploded on Wednesday killing one man. They say it was packed with gas canisters and contained maps of Barcelona and is now understood to be the terror cell's headquarters and bomb factory; A man was shot dead in the town of Sant Just Desvern close to Barcelona after he drove at a road block. More than 100 men, women and children were mowed down and their broken bodies lay in pools of blood on the famous Las Ramblas street at 4pm yesterday, where 13 are confirmed dead.
Prams and toys lay among the carnage alongside tourists' 'selfie sticks', discarded in the chaos as families fled the terror attack.
Shops, bars and restaurants packed with tourists and locals were abandoned with drinks, half-eaten meals and ice creams abandoned on the tables.
Pictures from their Alcanar bomb factory show more than 20 butane gas canisters scattered in the rubble and detectives found paperwork suggesting an attack in Barcelona was imminent.
It was unclear whether the house was deliberately destroyed to hide evidence or whether an accidental detonation forced the cell to rush through an improvised van attack. One person pulled from the rubble of the house was among four people so far arrested for the plot.
The attack in the coastal town began when a van hit pedestrians near the port area, leaving seven people including a police officer injured. The van then overturned and the attackers, now on foot, were shot by police as they attempted to leave the scene. It was unclear whether they were armed.

A crowd in Barcelona's main square defiantly shouted "not afraid" today following a minute's silence attended by Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and King Felipe VI, held for the victims of a double vehicle attack.
Standing silent in the Plaza de Catalunya, Rajoy joined the king and Carles Puigdemont, the president of the Catalonia region where Barcelona is located, in mourning the victims of attacks that left 13 dead and more than 100 injured.
At loggerheads as the separatist Catalan government attempts to break away from Spain, Rajoy and Puigdemont put their differences aside as they held the minute of silence in the square near the scene of the Barcelona attack.
Just after, crowds at the square broke out in loud applause, shouting "I'm not afraid."
Dramatic video posted online showed bystanders walking casually towards police cars before gunshots rang out, sending them leaping for safety on the beach below the raised roadway.
A second video shows four bodies lying on and near the road, apparently some way from the overturned vehicle, which is not in shot. The suspected suicide belts can be seen around the waists of the dead men.

As the Cambrils attack began police warned locals to stay inside - and many locked themselves inside hotels and bars.
Six people including a police officer were injured in the Cambrils attack, in the province of Tarragona. One was today in a critical condition in hospital, with another two seriously injured.
Four of the terrorists were killed immediately in the shootout and the fifth was shot and later arrested after being located by police in a helicopter. He later died from his injuries.
The regional police tweeted: 'We are working with the hypothesis that the crimes in Cambrils are a terrorist attack. We have taken down those presumed responsible. We confirm that the 5th terrorist taken down in Cambrils, who was injured, has died.'

In a day of chaos and carnage that saw the deadliest Islamic terror attack in Spain since the 2004 Madrid bombings that killed 192, the biggest loss of life was in Barcelona.
The lone terrorist swerved his van onto the paved walkway of Las Ramblas and ploughed on for hundreds of yards. By the time he came to a halt, 13 people were dead and more than 100 more injured. Three Germans, a Greek and a Belgian were among the dead. More than 20 French nationals are believed to have been injured.
A five-year-old Irish boy suffered a broken leg when his family was caught up in the terror attack in Barcelona.
The boy's father also has leg injuries after a van was driven into innocent people in Las Ramblas, one of the busiest avenues in the Spanish city.
Ireland's Foreign Affairs Minister, Simon Coveney, said: 'They are not life-threatening, I'm relieved to say. But in a way it's a miracle that more Irish people weren't involved, given that there are so many Irish people in Spain, Barcelona and Cambrils at this time of year.'
ISIS hits Europe with yet another marauding vehicle attackThe attack is the sixth time in a year that Islamic fanatics have used vehicles to kill pedestrians in Europe '' with more than 100 dead.
· On July 14 last year, a truck was driven into crowds in Nice on Bastille Day, killing 86 revellers.
· On December 19, 12 died in Berlin when a truck smashed through a Christmas market in the German capital.
· On March 22 this year, five died after Khalid Masood drove into crowds on Westminster Bridge in Central London.
· On April 7, a fanatic drove a truck into pedestrians in Stockholm, killing five.
· On June 3, eight died when three attackers in a van mowed down passers-by on London Bridge (pictured above) before stabbing others nearby.
The father and son were part a family of four, including the mother and a daughter, and are understood to have been on a trip to celebrate the boy's birthday. The youngster suffered a broken femur.
Spanish police initially named their prime suspect in the attack as the man they said hired the van, Driss Oukabir, a 28-year-old Morocco-born man living in the town of Ripoll, 65 miles north of Barcelona.
However hours later he apparently presented himself at a police station in Ripoll and claimed his 18-year-old brother Moussa had stolen his papers to hire the van.
Disturbing comments posted on social network Kiwi by an account carrying Moussa Oukabir's name and photograph makes reference to killing all infidels.
Driss was the second of the two people arrested, while Moussa remained unaccounted for this morning.
Horrifying pictures and video from the scene of the Las Ramblas attack show armed police and paramedics rushing around the busy promenade in the centre of the city, as victims lie hurt in the street.
Josep Lluis Trapero, the head of the regional police force the Mossos d'Esquadra, said the attack was designed 'to kill as many people as possible'.
A witness called Angel said he saw the attacker close up and described him as 'a young man, maximum 25 years old, chestnut brown hair and skinny.'
Others described him as about 5ft 6in tall and wearing a blue and white striped top.
Another witness, Isaac, said: 'The person was accelerating. He mounted the pavement to run people over. We saw the van passing by running people over at 50 miles an hour. It was as if it was driving through a field of corn.'
A taxi driver told Catalan TV station TV3: 'The van was doing zigzags knocking over everyone he could. It was shocking.'
Aamer Anwar was walking down Las Ramblas at the time, which he said was 'jam-packed' with tourists.
He told Sky News: 'All of a sudden, I just sort of heard a crashing noise and the whole street just started to run, screaming. I saw a woman right next to me screaming for her kids.'
Briton Steve Garrett was in a nearby market and sheltered in a bakery with several others after streams of people ran inside.
Mr Garrett told the BBC: 'A very large number of people ran into the market area in a big kind of way, lots of screaming, lots of shouting.
'Obviously coming from England it was reminding me a great deal of what happened in London, so we were very concerned about what might be going on next.'
Mr Garrett said a 'second wave' of people then entered the market, followed by armed police.
He said: 'They seemed to sweep through the market area. They seemed to be looking for someone. They were going very carefully, very cautiously, stall to stall.'
Another witness told Sky News: 'It was quite terrifying. All of a sudden scores of people ran towards us, hysterical, children hysterical... first of all they said someone had been shot.
'All of a sudden a second wave of people came down the street, we just ran, I lost my husband in the melee. The shops went into lockdown mode.'
She added: 'We really had no idea what was going on other than that we needed to get ourselves out of there very quickly... there was just hundreds of people running away very quickly.'

BRITISH ACTRESS 'WAS FORCED TO HIDE IN FREEZER' Laila Roussa dramatically live tweeter her experience as the horrifying attack unfolded in Barcelona
Actress Laila Rouass has dramatically live tweeted her experience 'hiding in a restaurant freezer' after being caught up in the horrific terrorist attack in Barcelona.
The wife of snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan, 46, took to Twitter amid the brutal terror attack which is believed to have claimed the lives of 13 people and wounded 100 others.
Tweeting directly in the middle of the attack, the former Holby City star said: 'In the middle of the attack. Hiding in a restaurant freezer. Happened so fast. Praying for the safety of everyone here x.'
And in a later tweet, the star, from Stepney in London, posted: 'Gunshots just heard. Armed police running down the street looking for someone.'
In a series of further tweets she added: 'The whole of Las Ramblas and surrounding roads in lock down with armed police everywhere,' and 'hearing one person has been shot.'
Friend of Mrs Rouass and fellow actor Douglas Henshall tweeted a message of support to the former Holby City star.
He said: 'F*** sake Laila stay safe. X'.
Tom Gueller, who lives on an adjoining road, was forced to flee the scene when he saw the van hurtling through the crowds.
He told BBC's PM: 'I heard screams and a bit of a crash and then I just saw the crowd parting and this van going full pelt down the middle of the Ramblas and I immediately knew that it was a terrorist attack or something like that.
'I ran away, I mean I live near, I had to run back about 50 metres or so and go up to my flat and obviously see what's happening on the road from my balcony.'
Asked about the van, he said: 'It wasn't slowing down at all. It was just going straight through the middle of the crowds in the middle of the Ramblas.'
Police chief Trapero told a news conference: 'At 16.50 a van entered the pedestrian area of the Rambla, and drove for many meters, running over hundreds of people.
'Many of them were injured and it caused the death of 13 people. The driver got out of the van and ran away. There was no shouting, no phrases which sometimes accompany such attacks. Witnesses called the emergency services and gave a description.
'The Mossos began Operation Cage, an anti-terrorist operation throughout Catalonia. There is no evidence that the person who left the van was armed. We do not believe he was armed, at least visibly.
'We entered all of the bars and establishments of the area to check nobody was hiding. This was clearly a terrorist attack with the intention of killing as many people as possible.
'It is believed to be connected with a second incident - the explosion of a house in Alcanar. We received an alert of an explosion where one person has died and others were injured.
'A part of the building collapsed. We are linking these two incidents. I cannot give further details as we are still working on the investigation.
At least 13 people have been killed and dozens injured after a van ploughed into pedestrians in Las Ramblas, Barcelona's busiest tourist area
Eyewitnesses said swarms of people were running for their lives with one woman desperately screaming out for her child. The van can be seen with a crumpled bonnet as people lie motionless on the pavement
Footage had emerged of heavily armed police swarming the area, searching for the attackers. Witnesses said the area was swamped with terror cops and plain clothed officers 'within 30 seconds'
'This led to the arrest of two people directly implicated in this attack. This does not mean that the two people under arrest are those who carried out the attack in Barcelona - but they are connected to the attack.
'Neither of them was the person driving the van. Neither of them has any convictions for terrorism. One is from Melilla [a Spanish enclave in north Africa] and the other is Moroccan.
'One person was arrested in Alcanar and the other, a Moroccan, in Ripoll.'
World leaders were quick to condemn the bloodbath, with UK Prime Minister Theresa May saying Britain 'stands with Spain against terror' in response to the tragic news.
She added: 'My thoughts are with the victims of the terrible attack in Barcelona and the emergency services responding to this ongoing incident. The UK stands with Spain against terror.'
US President Donald Trump condemned the attack and promised to do 'whatever is necessary to help' the Spanish.

The most wanted man in Europe: Manhunt for 18-year-old Barcelona terror suspect 'who stole his brother's identity and talked about killing infidels on social media'
Police are still hunting the teenager thought to have been behind the Barcelona terror attack which killed 13 and injured more than 100 people.
Moussa Oukabir, 18, is believed to have stolen his older brother's identity documents to rent the white Renault van which ploughed into pedestrians on a busy street popular with tourists.
The teenager, said to be a Spanish national of Moroccan heritage, had previously written about 'killing infidels' in a chilling online post.
His brother Driss Oukabir, 28, was initially named as a suspect but later handed himself to a police station in Ripoll, a town to the north of Barcelona, not far from the French border.
The older brother, whose identity document is said to have been found in the van, was reportedly arrested after he told police his brother took his ID documents.
Police circulated the image of Driss Oukabir, 28, (right) saying he had rented a van used in the attack - but he later accused his brother Moussa (left) of stealing his ID documents to rent at least one van
An account with Moussa Oukabir's name and photograph posted on social media that, on his first day ruling the world, he would 'kill the infidels' and 'let Muslims follow the religion'
On the run: Spanish police are now looking for the teenager in connection with yesterday's attack, which killed at least 13 people and injured more than 100
Moussa can be seen smiling and posing in images on his social media accounts, which he also used to air hatred for non-Muslims.
The teenager, reportedly a resident of Barcelona, posted on social network Kiwi that, if he was king of the world, his first act would be to 'kill the infidels'.
After Moussa's brother and another suspect were detained yesterday, police arrested a third person, a 34-year-old Moroccan, in Ripoll today. Moussa however is still on the run.
A security expert told the New York Times that police believe three vans were hired using the elder Oukabir brother's ID, after the plotters were unable to hire a larger truck.
Little is yet known about Moussa, although his brother is thought to have been born in the small Moroccan town of Aghbala, on the edge of the Sahara Desert. He is said to have come to Spain via Marseille in the south of France.
In the aftermath of the attack police circulated an image of the elder Oukabir, a Catalan resident of Moroccan origin, saying he had rented out a second van thought to be intended as a getaway vehicle - where his documents were found.
But police sources said Driss later handed himself in at a police station in Ripoll, 65 miles north of Barcelona, claiming his brother had stolen his documents, leading to police now focusing on finding Moussa.
On Friday morning, a third person was arrested by police investigating the attacks - also in the city of Ripoll.

Mrs May gave no indication if those Britons were among those wounded or killed.
Mr Gulotta, a computer salesman from Legnano, in northern Italy, was crushed to death in the Barcelona attack as he walked along holding his six-year-old son's hand.
His wife, Martina, said he died kneeling down to shield their son and seven-month-old daughter from the van, according to boss Pino Bruno, who claimed to have spoken with her.
Meanwhile Belgian authorities named Mrs Vanbockrijck, from Tongeren, as among the dead, saying she was on holiday with her husband and sons at the time.
Spanish authorities said Mr Rodriguez, who was pictured on Las Ramblas moments before the attack, died on the spot after being hit by the terrorist's van. He was earlier reported as missing.
Seven-year-old Julian Cadman's grandmother Norma Canaveral told MailOnline: 'We are just so worried. I am just waiting for news, hoping for good news.'
The 66-year-old, from London, said: 'I don't know what to say. His mother is in the hospital, she's ok, but she became separated from Julian and we don't know where he is. All we can do it wait.'

Barcelona chief rabbi urges Jews to leave Spain: 'This place is lost' - Europe - Haaretz.com
Sat, 19 Aug 2017 15:08
People gather at the spot where a van plowed into a crowd on the Rambla Boulevard in Barcelona, on August 18, 2017.
Rabbi Meir Bar-Hen says Spain is Europe's 'hub of Islamist terror' and that he's been encouraging congregants to buy property in Israel
Commenting on deadly attacks in Catalonia, the chief rabbi of that region in Spain said that his community is doomed, partly because of radical Islam and authorities' alleged reluctance to confront it.
Rabbi Meir Bar-Hen has been encouraging his congregants to leave Spain, which he called during an interview with JTA a ''hub of Islamist terror for all of Europe,'' for years before the attacks Thursday and Friday, he said. At least 13 victims and five suspected terrorists were killed in Barcelona and the resort town of Cambrils, 75 miles south of the city.
To Bar-Hen, whose community on Friday resumed activities that it had suspended briefly following the Barcelona attack, ''Jews are not here permanently,'' he said of the city and region. ''I tell my congregants: Don't think we're here for good. And I encourage them to buy property in Israel. This place is lost. Don't repeat the mistake of Algerian Jews, of Venezuelan Jews. Better [get out] early than late.''
A white van on Thursday careered into crowds on Las Ramblas, Barcelona's feted thoroughfare, when the street was packed with locals and tourists. More than 100 were injured, including 13 fatalities. The driver of the van fled on foot and was believed to be still at large on Friday. Police shot dead another man at a checkpoint Thursday. The Islamic State terrorist group claimed responsibility for that attack.
Hours later, police killed in a raid in Cambrils five men whom police said were terrorists planning an imminent attack.
Part of the problem exposed by the attacks, Bar-Hen said, is the presence of a large Muslim community with ''radical fringes.'' Once these people are ''living among you,'' he said of terrorists and their supporters, ''it's very difficult to get rid of them. They only get stronger.'' He also said this applied to Europe as a whole. ''Europe is lost,'' he said.
Bar-Hen emphasized that he was speaking as a private person and not for all members of his community.
Displaying a defiant and more confidant attitude than Bar-Hen's, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain issued a statement expressing ''full confidence in security forces who work daily to prevent fanatics and radical Muslims from inflicting pain and chaos on our cities.''
Emergency workers stand on a blocked street in Barcelona, Spain, Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017. Manu Fernandez/AP Bar-Hen also charged that authorities and some politicians are reluctant to confront Islamist terrorism. He cited the government's decision in April to allow Leila Khaled, a Palestinian terrorist who was convicted in a plot to hijacking an airplane in 1969, to enter the country for book festival. This showed authorities ''do not understand the nature of terrorism, if they treat it as an action by the disenfranchised,'' Bar-Hen said.
Ignoring calls to ban the visit by Khaled '-- book fair organizers hung posters of Khaled on main streets '-- Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau Ballano of the far-left Barcelona en Comº party led the passage in April of a city council resolution condemning Israel's ''violations of international law.''
On Friday, Colau Ballano wrote on Facebook: ''Barcelona is a city of peace. Terror will not make us stop being who we are: a brave city open to the world.'' She urged readers to show up at a solidarity rally that day.
Angel Mas, founder of the ACOM pro-Israel group, which protested Khaled's visit, said that it is ''pure cynicism'' of Colau Ballano to claim to oppose terrorism in light of her support for Khaled ''and other individuals that support terrorist causes,'' as he phrased it.
Bar-Hen said he may not attend the rally called by Colau Ballano as security officials instructed him to avoid public areas in the coming days because he is recognizably Jewish.
My Millennials!
Millennial Morals
ITM Adam,
On the last couple shows you brought up that various Millennials that you know say that they feel a need to "speak out" against racism, bigotry, etc. unless they want to be seen as enabling it. I am an older Millennial (born in 1986), and I think I've figured out where it comes from in my own case.
When I was in elementary and middle school, we had multiple anti-bullying campaigns, and they usually included a time of discussion where we parsed out who was to blame in the scenario. There was always blame assigned to the bystanders who did nothing to stop the bully, teaching us that we always have a responsibility to speak up. It's the application of the principle supposedly learned from the Kitty Genovese murder; the campaigns were trying to override the "bystander effect."
These campaigns also gave us the idea that if someone tells the bully to stop, then he will. When you learn something like that as a kid and don't have a life experience to disabuse you of the notion, it sticks with you. I think that is one reason why so many Millennials feel compelled to speak out on Facebook, Twitter, etc. whenever something bad happens. They have been convinced by their teachers that bad things can be stopped by enough people speaking out against it, which convinces them that they are actually helping the situation by posting statuses and tweeting.
Finally, when we were kids, nearly everything and everyone told us that we could change the world. Bill Nye said it in every show; Captain Planet inspired us to save the world by recycling; and our egos were inflated by Mr. Rogers telling us that we were special, "just the way you are." We were told we could be whatever we wanted to be, and the sky was the limit. If you keep telling people that long enough, they eventually believe it and think that the world cares what they have to say. I think that this, combined with the overt attempt to program kids to override the "bystander effect," has made many of us think that we need to speak up whenever we see something bad happening.
It seems to be what did it to me, at least.
I hope this helps you put the pieces together, and I love the show. Keep up the good work!
Best regards,
Eric Wesseldyke

Trump approves Obama-era plan for a more independent US Cyber Command | TechCrunch
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 21:15
President Trump has given the go-ahead for a plan dating from the Obama administration to elevate US Cyber Command to the level of Unified Combatant Command, giving it more operational independence from the National Security Agency. The statement also raised the possibility of splitting off CyberCom from the NSA entirely.
Both actions were recommended by former former Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter last year, as he told TechCrunch at the time.
''At the moment, we have the NSA, which is part of the intelligence community, managed by the Department of Defense, and CyberCom, which is a combat group whose first job is to protect,'' Carter said during an interview at Disrupt SF. ''We had them both in the same location and able to work with one another. That has worked very well, but it is not necessarily the right approach.''
Sometimes their missions can be in conflict. For example, say a terrorist group is organizing online; the NSA might want to keep the network alive to glean more data, while CyberCom might want to shut it down to disrupt the group's command structure. If separated, the two groups could pursue their ends independently, though a great deal of collaboration would still be necessary. Both organizations are currently led under a ''dual-hat'' system, where the director of the NSA '-- currently Admiral Mike Rogers '-- also leads Cyber Command. Last year the idea of splitting the two was met with resistance from the Committee on Armed Services, specifically Senator McCain, who resented the plans being made without their consultation. He wholeheartedly supports the plan now, though.
There are currently nine Unified Combatant Commands, organized both by region and responsibility. For instance, Pacific Command oversees that ocean, southeast Asia, and Australia, while Transportation Command is in charge of mobility assets worldwide. CyberCom, originally underneath Strategic Command, would join the ranks and get its own seat at the table.
If the split were to take place, an interesting consequence would be that the NSA could be led by a civilian. However, there's no indication now of how leadership will change, who will be in charge of what, or when. The green light is really just the start, and we'll know more soon.
Staffing the enhanced CyberCom might be a challenge, since the military would be vying with top recruiters from tech and security firms. It will help, though, that potential recruits will see that cybersecurity is no longer being treated as a lesser discipline and only tangentially related to warfare and defense at large.
Whatever happens, this concrete action to invest in the country's cybersecurity infrastructure will likely be welcomed by many. There is a sense that we are being outplayed by cyber operatives in countries and organizations all over the world, from Russia to IS. And a rising tide, in this case increased attention and federal investment, would presumably raise all boats in the industry.

WikiLeaks: Clinton Bribed 6 Republicans To 'Destroy Trump'
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 11:51
WikiLeaks has released information that shows Hillary Clinton campaign staffers bribing 6 Republicans to ''destroy Trump''.
In an email from John Podesta to Huma Abedin, the pair discuss diverting Clinton campaign funds to various Republicans who were secretly on the Clinton payroll.
Conservativedailypost.com reports:
The email, sent in July of this year, describes how funds were being diverted from Clinton's campaign to the Super PACS of Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, and John Kasich.
According to the email:
''JB, CF, and JK PACS will be noticeably silent for the rest of the campaign. Each will receive a significant allowance from advertising budget. HRC is in the loop and has talked to all three personally. Eyes only.''
Other emails that surfaced but do not refer to anything other than title have also surfaced that raised eyebrowS. It seems at a glance that the Clinton Foundation, or as I am calling it, the Pantsuit Mafia, has bought off several key members of the Republican Party to push the Clinton agenda. Such as:
''He is on board, will retract the invitation to speak. Eyes only.''
This email was dated days before Speaker of the House Paul Ryan withdrew the invitation to Donald Trump to speak at an event in Wisconsin. Even though we do not have the 'smoking gun' to say it was him, no other logical conclusion can be assumed.
Other emails hint at the money being moved to Republican elected officials in the House and Senate. For instance FEC reports shows that two large donations from PACS and private sources ln early October went to John McCain right after he attacked Trump publicly criticized Trump. That happened shortly after a slew of emails concerning moving money to support one candidate and move support from another.
Shortly thereafter, his challenger in this tight race, Kirkpatrick, lost several key donors and money and support lessened from the DNC and the DSCC in the last few weeks of the race. The thing to note is that McCain is one of the lead sponsors of a committee to investigate any Russian influence into the election.
Senator Lindsay Graham, another outspoken critic of Donald Trump and briefly candidate for President from July to December also it seems received help from the Clintons. An email that simply states, ''Cleared the road for him in 2020,'' could mean that there will be no strong or supported Democrat in the South Carolina Senate race when Graham is up for re-election.
As with McCain, Graham has publicly called for a look into the Russian influence in the election.
There were a lot of politicians who were opposed to Donald Trump. These, in particular, all share a common bond, however: Trump humiliated them on stage in front of hundreds of millions of people around the world. This is more than just politics or conscientious objecting, this was revenge.
Not just revenge. This is out and out treason. Our representatives took an oath to support our Constitution and its laws for our benefit, not theirs. This is why gridlock is prevalent in D.C.''the treachery and the corruption are on both sides of the coin.
Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing who the true Republicans are and who are the ones that are fronts for the Clinton machine, the Pantsuit Mafia. The number of emails is too overwhelming to easily sift through them all to find all of the turncoat RINOs. We must be diligent to ferret out those that have sold their souls for power.
The only hope that we have for transparency of the Clintons anytime soon rests in an audit carried out by the IRS.
Behold, in recent days, there is a call to impeach the Commissioner of the IRS. Interesting times we live in to be sure. Only time and work on our part will push this audit forward.
Even though Hillary lost the Presidency, she is still a power behind the scenes with these revelations. With her Democratic allies in Pelosi and Schumer and her Republican lackeys in the form of Ryan and other Republicans, she will set the agenda and pull the strings. We the people will have no idea who is on our side and who is not.
For the Clintons, it will mean that even though the American people are supporting Trump and making America great again, they will set the agenda. We will be left scratching our heads and wondering how the GOP and Trump cannot accomplish anything. Clinton will be in control without having to ever show her hand or be responsible to the people.
The Soros-Clinton team will have killed the Republic and we will never know until it is too late.
This Russian news story perhaps is the ultimate coup for the Clinton Camp. She does not even have to be the winner of the Electoral College vote to have gained power. Should enough electors defect to Hillary or name another candidate in their votes (Electors are NOT legally bound to vote for their candidate), then that could throw the vote into the House and Senate.
The suspicious part of this simply is this, On January 20th a new president will be inaugurated. The Constitution in the 25th Amendment spells out the line of succession if there is still not a picked President, the Vice President shall become president (Kaine or Pence).
If the Senate has not picked a Vice-President by noon on the 20th, the Speaker of the House shall become President. Coincidence?
The Roman Republic lasted for centuries in the hands of the people before falling to become the Roman Empire. That change did not happen by a foreign invasion or foreign intrigue. No barbarian or forceful enemy defeated that Republic over 2000 years ago.
It was defeated from the inside by the treachery of the Senate and the blood of the slain Julius Caesar. Just as Caesar was stabbed in the back by men he thought were his allies, Trump is facing the same treachery.
In the coming days and months, without our help and diligence, President Trump may also be gasping'.....''Et Tu, Paul?''

What Does Demisexual Mean? Here Are 6 Signs That You May Identify As Demisexual
Thu, 17 Aug 2017 20:52
In an age in which we are constantly one swipe away from our next relationship, the idea of romance is rushed and convenient in a way that it never has been before. Apparently, you should be able to follow your gut, or some mystical inner voice that tells you whether you're right for that person. But it's impossible for some people to operate that way. If you've ever found yourself wondering what it means to be demisexual, and whether or not the term applies to you, then read on. Demisexuality is just one of many shades on the scale of asexuality, but put into layman's terms, it's the difficulty in feeling sexual attraction to someone you're not friends with first. According to asexuality.org:
A demisexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone. It's more commonly seen in but by no means confined to romantic relationships. Nevertheless, this term does not mean that demisexuals have an incomplete or half-sexuality, nor does it mean that sexual attraction without emotional connection is required for a complete sexuality. In general, demisexuals are not sexually attracted to anyone of any gender; however, when a demisexual is emotionally connected to someone else (whether the feelings are romantic love or deep friendship), the demisexual experiences sexual attraction and desire, but only towards the specific partner or partners.
Of course, being demisexual means different things to different people, depending on their experiences. But here's where the struggle comes in. The way most relationships start out these days, there is no way to set up an arrangement whereby people meet each other with the intention of being friends and then waiting for however long to see if romantic feelings crop up. If you're dating in a big city, for instance, the primary way to meet people is online or through apps. And while you can generally tell on a first date whether or not you'd want to be friends with someone, it's nearly impossible for a demisexual person to decide whether or not you'd be sexually attracted to them without the element of friendship and trust already in place '-- despite the fact that this seems to be the expectation of modern dating. The current climate demands that at the end of a date, you know right then whether you're in or out. And you can't exactly explain your feelings to someone you just met, particularly in an age when not engaging in romantic or affectionate activity on dates is considered a rejection.
It can be hard to explain to someone who doesn't feel this way, because demisexuality is actually quite subtle if you're not aware of it. If you're still unsure whether or not this applies to you, then see if you relate to some of the other hallmarks of being demisexual.
Most, If Not All, Of Your Relationships Have Started Out As Friendships There is an element of complete trust and security that attracts you to them. It's not just the feeling of safety, or the sense of being able to predict what they'll do or how they'll react. It's bone-deep, an attraction for who they are as a whole that makes you see them in an entirely different light than you did when you first met. There is no honeymoon phase in relationships for you, because what other people typically refer to as a "honeymoon" phase is more of your "uncertainty" phase. You're much more comfortable and attracted to someone long after you know all the little details about their lives, how they feel about things, what makes them tick.
You Frequently Put More Pressure On First Dates Than Other Friends While the rest of the world seems to be moaning about how commitment-phobic our generation is, you feel an entirely different kind of pressure, because you know that when it comes down to it, people expect you to have a genuine gauge for how you will proceed with them after a first date. So you focus too much on everything. You nitpick, or you look for cosmic signs. You talk to too many people about it, or you're so afraid of getting influenced that you don't tell anyone at all. If you've ever ghosted, it isn't out of disinterest so much as out of being at a complete and utter loss. You don't want to waste their time or hurt anyone by continuing to date them unless you're sure you're attracted to them, and you can't be sure unless you continue to date them for a while, so BOOM. You are a human catch-22.
You Still Feel Primary Sexual Attraction To Strangers '-- But It's Fleeting A misconception about demisexuals is that they only feel the one kind of attraction toward best friends, but the truth is that they feel other kinds of attraction, too. Asexuality.org explains, for instance, that there is "primary" sexual attraction '-- the attraction to what you see first, like a person's looks, aesthetic, and/or the way they carry themselves '-- and secondary sexual attraction, which is more rooted in personality and the way you connect with someone. In relationships, demisexuals operate almost solely on secondary attraction. That doesn't mean that we don't occasionally see a hot person on the subway and start to sweat. It's just fleeting, is the thing '-- and if we ever actively pursued it, chances are the attraction would be gone almost immediately.
Your Crushes Seem Like A Really Big Deal It's not often that you're attracted to anyone in the first place, so when you feel that way, the feeling is monumental. Everyone seemed to think we'd all grow out of "having crushes" in adulthood that had the same intensity as the ones we had in junior high or high school, but if anything, yours only seem to have more depth to them than they did when you were younger.
You Have Found Yourself Very Confused In Friendships Particularly in friendships involving the gender(s) you're attracted to. Most, if not all, of your unrequited crushes have been born of friendships '-- ones that you embarked on without any other agenda whatsoever. It gets to the point where you are genuinely surprised when you find that you are attracted to them, and even more surprised by how irreversible it seems. At least a few friendships have gotten awkward in situations when the feelings went unreciprocated, although you find that you can usually work past it to preserve a friendship.
People Often Dub You A "Prude" "Prude." "Ice queen." "Sandra Dee." "Goody-goody." You've heard it all before. These are just a few of the problematic labels people assign to those who aren't having as much sex as what's considered "average," despite the fact that it's completely healthy and OK to feel that way. (And really, there is no "average" when it comes to sex). Some people certainly do refrain from sex for their own moral reasons or beliefs, and some (including demisexuals) just have a lack of interest. Regardless, these labels are not just inappropriate and offensive, but inaccurate '-- no matter what reason a person has for refraining from sex.
In the end, though, you can only do what feels right for you, even when other people project their own feelings and insecurities on your choices. The romantic world is difficult to navigate, no matter how you feel or don't feel about sex, so the best thing you can do for yourself is trust your gut and stick to it.

California Bill: 1 Year in Jail for Using Wrong Transgender Pronoun - Breitbart
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 12:11
The bill, SB 219, was proposed by State Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco). It includes several other provisions that require a health facility, for example, to honor the gender identity of a patient, meaning that the patient must be admitted to a room that comports with his or her chosen gender; allowed to use whatever bathroom he or she wants to use; and wear whatever clothing or cosmetics he or she decides to wear. It has gone through several amendments.
CBN News notes: ''Fines for repeat offenders could be as high as $1,000 and a jail term of up to a year.''
CBN also reports the testimony of the California Family Council's Greg Burt:
How can you believe in free speech, but think the government can compel people to use certain pronouns when talking to others? '... This is not tolerance. This is not love. This is not mutual respect. True tolerance tolerates people with different views. We need to treat each other with respect, but respect is a two-way street. It is not respectful to threaten people with punishment for having sincerely held beliefs that differ from your own.
California Democrats have also taken up the transgender cause as part of their ''resistance'' to President Donald Trump. In February, when the Trump administration reversed an Obama administration directive on transgender bathrooms in public schools, thus allowing states and local communities to set their own policies again, California protested vigorously in favor of the idea that the federal government should impose a uniform standard everywhere as a matter of civil rights.

Gay Talent Manager Michael Einfeld Closes Hollywood Office After Sexist, Homophobic Email Goes Viral | NewNowNext
Sat, 19 Aug 2017 15:17
by Trish Bendix 8/17/2017 A leaked email has led to the end of a gay Hollywood talent manager's career.
Last week, Rosette Laursen, a former assistant to Michael Einfeld, shared an email she received after asking for a day off to participate in the March 8 Day Without Women protest.
''I asked for the day off because I thought this was a great cause,'' Larson detailed in a Facebook post. ''I was working as an assistant at a boutique talent agency'... I emailed [my boss] that I would love to spend the day writing, as my career goal is to be a TV writer, and unfortunately writers' rooms are very dominantly male, even in 2017.''
Laursen said she didn't ask to be paid for the day, equating it with asking for an unpaid sick day. ''Pilot season was slowing way down, and things were pretty quiet at work that week so far.''
Isaiah Trickey/FilmMagic
But, as she soon learned, Einfeld was not interested in letting her participate. He emailed a response that was meant for two male co-workers, but accidentally CC'd the entire team, Laursen included.
''Are you fucking kidding me,'' Einfeld wrote. ''Someone should sew her vagina shut. I'm never hiring a girl ever again. No bonus for anyone that strikes or leaves early in pilot season. No one is striking in show business, we are all up against Trump. Women are considered diverse and being shoved in as writer and directors. Zach, who is a Jewish male, is being pushed out.''
He ended the note by calling Laursen an ''uppity selfish cunt.''
Michael Einfeld/Facebook
Once Einfeld realized his mistake, he attempted to smooth things over in a text message.
''I apologize for venting like a misogynistic faggot,'' he wrote. ''I was letting off steam I didn't mean to hit reply all. I'm an asshole. If you come back we can play Nazi death camp. You can beat me and put me in the oven. Or feed me cabbage and lock me in the shower. I am truly sorry.''
Laursen promptly quit, leading a male co-worker to defend Einfeld with, ''It was just a joke.''
But she wanted there to be consequences. She also wanted to take a stand for people who routinely face misogyny, homophobia, and racism in the workplace.
''They are willing to put up with things that are absolutely crossing a line because the job will look good on a resume for the next step in their careers, or hope the connections made through the job might be beneficial,'' she wrote.
''I have struggled a lot with sharing this because I'm afraid it will work against me and my career. That is scary to me, and sad that this might be the reality we live in. But it's worth it to me to say something regardless of the outcome. I'll be disappointed at myself if I don't.''
After Einfeld ignored repeated attempts to discuss a possible settlement, Laursen went public with her post, which included screenshots of his emails and messages to her, as well as a photo of the x-rated lingerie Einfeld gave her for Christmas.
That's when he finally responded, with an open letter to friends, family, and colleagues.
''Let me say without reservation: I am sorry,'' he wrote on Facebook. ''I used language that was tasteless, humorless and completely inexcusable. I believe deeply in workplace diversity regardless of race, gender, creed or sexual orientation, and I am mortified that the things I have said have worked against my commitment to inclusion. As I've searched for a response to all this, what I've discovered is that words fall woefully short of my extreme remorse. I am so sorry. I will be undertaking some obviously needed introspection, and want to thank those of you who have expressed a willingness to stand by me. To those that feel they need space from me, I am heartbroken but understand.''
After the incident went public, Queer Eye cast member Jai Rodrigez fired Einfeld as his rep, one of many to do so. At least 50 clients have reportedly cut ties with Einfeld, including soap stars Heather Tom, Melody Thomas Scott, Eden Riegel, Lee Meriwether, Juliet Mills, and Dan Gauthier.
According to The Wrap, at least one casting director from a major broadcast network told Einfeld's clients she would not submit them for auditions if they maintained him as a rep.
Einfeld has since fired four staffers and is reportedly closing his offices in L.A.
Identitarians
Sir Ed on the topic
In show 957, you asked "But when did we come with White Nationalist?"
I think that I can authoritatively say: from me in about 1992.
Attached are two files I wrote in the early 1990s where I defined the
ideas of White Nationalism. There's other stuff as well.
You can use any portion of this text as you please. You don't have to
hide my name. You also don't have to even air any of these ideas. I'm
just trying to be helpful in answering you question.
This email is more evidence of the quality of No Agenda's producers :-)
Again, you have first-hand sources in the show's producers.
I've purposely kept my politics from your show. There's a certain kind
of naivete as well as sophistication that I like, which is why I
support it. I'm hoping to make barronette soon.
HISTORY
=======
Historically, I got out of the military in 1987 and started going to
college. I was immediately bombarded by total leftist, multiculturalist
BS, but I resisted. I realized that they were lying in their doctrine
and advocacy. In my mind, being White was no different than being
French or British (I'm multinational). I decided at one point in 1987,
that a political/social change was necessary and I would do my best to
promote it. Starting from 1987 onward, I spent all of my spare time
researching politics, philosophy, psychology and everything else
relevant to understand political change. I studied right wing and left
wing ideology and politics. While I was going to school, I started
trying to meet with other White activists. From about 1990 to 2000, I
associated with Neo-Nazis, real Nazis (from WWII), skinheads, Klansmen,
and I've met and associated with many of the leaders of the time. I
interacted with extreme leftists, too, so I could understand their
viewpoints better.
I have extensive knowledge and experience of nazi-ism (neo and paleo).
I studied it, I associated with nazis, I promoted it for a while. But,
overall, I was not impressed with existing pro-White ideas and politics
and I thought a new approach was necessary.
At one point, I was taking an ethics class taught by a very-liberal
professor and we were covering the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights. Although my ideas weren't formed then, I thought that the
liberals were so anti-White that I ought to play a game to see if I
could justify or frame White Identity in a way that the left would have
to accept it. I wasn't really that naive, but I thought it was worth a
try since I was looking for new ideas anyway.
So, I decided to ask myself "Can I justify White
Identity/Ethnicity/Naitonalism to the left through the Declaration of
Human Rights?" This is the founding ideas of White Nationalism. White
Nationalism (as I formulated it) was White Identity framed through
Human Rights. It was an attempt to be a leftist nationalism which could
displace various leftist doctrines. Nationalism isn't necessarily
either right-wing or left-wing. There have been both left-wing and
right-wing nationalist movements in the past century or so. In
actuality, the Vietnam War was the result of a nationalistic civil war
framed in Marxism, for example.
If you're familiar with the various declarations of human rights then
you know that ethnicity, nationality, culture, collective property
ownership are all fundamental human rights. Therefore, White too have
rights to these things.
There was a time when there was no one in the US, Canada or Europe who
called themselves "White Nationalists" as far as I know: I was the
first. A friend of mine and I actually did a literature research on the
phrase (we had extensive pro-White literature). I never liked the Nazi
or KKK approach to White Identity Politics so I decided to create
something new. I decided to package the meme bundle in ways that would
be self-promoting. I wanted to contrast my approach against Naziism
and Klanism, so I wrote my paper describing my ideas and then I
originated and maintained the White Power FAQ to spread my memes to
anyone who would be interested.
In about 1992, the Internet was just starting to become available and I
decided at that moment that I was going to make the internet owned by
White Nationalists. I started promoting my ideas on the newsgroup
alt.skinhead and leftist skinheads opposed me being there. I told them
if someone would start alt.politics.nationalism.white, then I would go
there. So, someone created it for me. I then used
alt.politics.nationalism.white to promote my ideas. For several years
thereafter, I heavily promoted my White Nationalism ideas in contrast
to Neo-nazi and Klannish approaches. The group took off like a rocket
and dozens (maybe hundreds) of young whites started making
alt.politics.nationalism.white a happening place. If you recall, in
1996-ish all of the major news magazines and papers were talking about
"Hate on the Internet." I take some credit for that :-)
I and a buddy, actually registered the first White Nationalist
political party with the Federal Elections Committee around 1995-ish
(The National Party). But it fell apart for several reasons.
Since 2000-ish, White Nationalism has grown as an idea on its own. I
eventually got out of school and had to work so I couldn't put much
time to help it grow and direct it. But, I've recently decided to
advance my form of White Nationalism again in a hardcore way in the
future. So, you'll hear more about it.
ON ANTI-JEWISHNESS IN WHITE POWER
=================================
There is a weird, almost religious anti-semitism that exists
historically in Europe, Canada and the US. It pervades the "old" White
Power movement. I'm not personally anti-Jewish; some don't believe me
but whatever! When I associated with the Klansmen and Nazis (neo and
paleo), I couldn't believe the hatred, fantastical viewpoint these
people had against Jews. I still don't. You giggle at the shape-
shifting jews song, but some of the old White Movement has views that
really coincide with that kind of beliefs about Jews. I've joked with
them that they almost treat Jews like THEY'RE the master race with
magical tricks.
I think part of it stems from the Spartacist Uprising [https://en.wikip
edia.org/wiki/Spartacist_uprising]. Germans felt very cheated by Jewish
involvement. But, I know it precedes that too. Eastern Europeans that
I've met have an even more deep-seated dislike. It amazes me sometimes.
ON PETER CVJETANOVIC'S IDENTITARIANISM/WHITE NATIONALISM
========================================================
Peter is an excellent representative of the ideas of Identitarianism
and White Nationalism. He expresses the ideas quite well.
WHAT IS IDENTITARIANISM?
========================
Identitarian originates in the New Right in Europe [https://en.wikipedi
a.org/wiki/New_Right].
Wikipedia has a good enough definition of Identitarianism:
In actuality, some of White Nationalism's ideas originate in the New
Right and Identitarianism of Europe (not the other way around). I was
reading a lot of their literature during my formative years. Although
formal Identitarian Organizations didn't form until the early 2000's,
the ideas originated at least a decade earlier in the New
Right/Nouvelle Droit.
ON GAYNESS IN THE RIGHT
=======================
The White movement is an extreme, fringe group. Gays too are a fringe
group in their own way. Because many gays do feel alienated with
mainline society, they find interest in the White Power/Nationalist
community. White gays aren't that different than the average white
person in their political views and so right-wing gays join right-wing
movements. Because of this, I think that there might be a slightly
higher percentage of gays in the White Power Movement. I don't like it,
but some of the most hardcore racists, and nationalists are gay. It's
just a fact. In fact, when I was promoting my ideas publicly, one gay
guy asked me "Can gays be part of this movement?" I said, "yes. you
should always do what you know is right." Therefore, I opened
opportunities for their involvement early. But, the gays are just as
involved in the extreme left. The leftist gay community is a kernel
around which most of the extreme left originates.
ON LARPING IN WHITE POWER
=========================
Most of the White Power people are really simple people. They're
working class, they aren't necessarily brain surgeon/rocket scientists.
They work at gas stations, factories etc. They sincerely want to bring
about change, but they don't know how to. The best they often can do is
role-play.
That's another reason for White Nationalism. If you understand both
Naziism and Leninist Marxism, they believe that changes come from the
top down. Therefore, I had to frame ideas that could insinuate
themselves in the elite of our new society.
ON BOTH NAZIISM AND ANTI-FASCISM
================================
Both Naziism and the Antifa are millenarian movements [https://en.wikip
edia.org/wiki/Millenarianism]. To me, the best support from this is the
book: "The Hitler Movement: A modern millenarian revolution"
publication/dp/0817971319]. Being millenarian means that they frame
their world-view in an endtimes. The doctrine is: if good people don't
fight, then endtimes will result. It's extremist, but sometimes that's
what it takes to motivate people to extreme sacrifice.
ON RACISM AND NATIONALISM
=========================
In a sociological framing, ethnicity/tribe/nation are all related: they
are expressions of an innate human tendancy towards in-group creation
and maintenance. They are the ideological mechanisms which enforce in-
group identity. Scientifically, biological race relates to phenotypic
expression of genetics and the descent from a population, which due to
isolation has accumulated a high incidence of unique genotypic
patterns. Ethnicity is a cultural/ideological amalgam of ideas related
to identity and group. Some (non-Marxist) sociologists have said that
"Culture is a people's program of survival." That's the popular
definition I like to use. Ethnicity and Nationality are packages of
beliefs about who an individual is, what their society is, etc.
Therefore, race can certainly be
So, my framing of White Nationalism is that race is one factor of our
ethno-national identity. I actually stress more on non-racial aspects
of culture than most people in my camp, but some people only develop
their identity in conflict: the left is creating conflict around race
so people can't help but see the biggest conflict in their life as the
biggest aspect of their identity.
WHERE THINGS ARE GOING
======================
Yes, things are bad and, I think, they're going to get worse. The left
is not sincere in their promotion of rights for all: they never really
have been. Marxists only believe in ideas as weapons to advance their
agenda; they use dialectic to create a thesis/antithesis/synthesis
dialectic to form the ideas people have. They don't respect that people
have any rights to ideas that they don't want them to have.
They leave no middle ground. They create the divide. We merely have to
be smart enough to out-think, out-maneuver, out-produce and out-live
them.
They have decided that whites alone have no right to identity, culture,
or nationality. Although some will disagree with me, I think that they
are promoting genocide against Whites. They are causing the conflict
that they seek to avoid. From my perspective...good. They're a bunch of
losers that we will overcome to maintain our culture, society and
nation.
People like me, understanding what they're doing, use their own
dialectic against them. I strategically chose the term "White
Nationalism" several decades ago because it forces the opposition to
explicitly state what they are against: white nations (and nations in
general), so that a new synthesis against them can form. Yes, you
noticed that reality in the clips you played. Normally, reform
movements form from the "elite" in a society (the idea forming,
deciding and applying class of people in a society), but the left have
corrupted every elite institution in the West and so the kick-back must
come from a different direction; that's part of my strategic approach.
Every time the media, the left or whomever uses "white nationalism,"
they promote the idea. They lose whenever they mention it because of
the dialectic.
Hope this helps. I welcome correspondence on these issues. I've studied
them intently for almost thirty years now.

Australia Cracks Down On Bitcoin Exchanges; Shrugs Off Banks' "Systemic" Money-Laundering Violations | Zero Hedge
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 12:54
Australian Government Is Cracking Down On The Nonexistent Bitcoin Money-Laundering Epidemic
Australia's largest banks can't seem to go six months without a new scandal. In April, regulators accused Commonwealth Bank, one of the country's largest financial institutions, of ''systemic'' money laundering violations, sparking an investigation into the broader banking sector, and the promise of heavy-handing civil penalties.
But instead of pursuing penalties that could lead to lasting reforms, Australia's regulators are cracking down on bitcoin, creating a new set of guidelines that will make it more difficult for customers to trade on local cryptocurrency exchanges by mandating needless anti-money laundering controls. They're prioritizing bitcoin over banks even though all relevant data suggest that organized criminal enterprises and terrorist groups overwhelmingly prefer to transact in cash.
According to Bitcoin.com, Australia's Coalition Government has introduced a bill that would regulate digital currency exchanges, introducing ''reforms'' that will ''strengthen the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act and increase the powers of the Australian Transactions and Reporting Analysis Centre (Austrac).''
Here's Bitcoin.com with more:
"Among other proposals, the bill will ''strengthen Austrac's investigation and enforcement powers'' as well as ''close a regulatory gap by bringing digital currency exchange providers under the remit of Austrac,'' the announcement reads, adding that:
'The bill provides a net regulatory relief to industry of $36 million annually, with the digital currency exchange sector being regulated for the first time, while deregulating low-risk industries such as cash-in-transit, which is already subject to state and territory licensing requirements.'''
As Bitcoin.com explains, Australia's new AML rules resemble regulations adopted by Japan and China over the past 18 months. In China, the crackdown on intraday high frequency trading triggered a decline in trading volume that caused the country to surrender its position as the bitcoin market leader.
''Earlier this year, following investigations by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), many Chinese bitcoin exchanges halted bitcoin withdrawals to extensively upgrade their systems for the purpose of AML and KYC compliance. Also the European Union has been discussing how to impose rules on bitcoin exchanges as part of its Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive.''
Meanwhile, in what looks like an effort to compensate bitcoin traders for the overly stringent new regulations, Australia ended the double taxation treatment of bitcoin in July.
To be sure, some of the country's lawmakers have come out as vociferously pro-bitcoin. Two senators issued a proposal to make bitcoin an official currency in Australia, something they say would boost the country's financial competitiveness. Indeed, this legal maneuver would bring Australia one step closer to recognizing bitcoin's value as a reserve asset. Recently, a close aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin began building network of bitcoin miners with the aim of expanding the country's hashing power to more than 30% of the network's total. Any entity that controls more than 50% of the bitcoin network's mining capabilities has de facto control of the network.
Here's a quick summary of what the bill will do, courtesy of Australia's Ministry of Justice:
Close a regulatory gap by bringing digital currency exchange providers under the remit of AUSTRAC:
Strengthen AUSTRAC's investigation and enforcement powers.
Increase police and customs officers' search and seizure powers at the border.
Provide regulatory relief to industry through the deregulation of low-risk industry sectors.
The crackdown comes amid another big week for bitcoin: The digital currency climbed 16.5% to new record highs at around $4400. This is the 5th weekly rise in a row (and BTC is up 86% since the fork).
The full press release is available below:
* * *
The Coalition Government has today announced the first stage of reforms to strengthen the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act and increase the powers of the Australian Transactions and Reporting Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC).
The reforms implement the first phase of the recommendations of the Statutory Review of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act, following extensive consultation with industry and our national security agencies.
These reforms appropriately balance the threat of organised crime and terrorism financing to the Australian community with ensuring excessive regulation doesn't hinder our financial sectors.
The Bill provides net regulatory relief to industry of $36 million annually, with the digital currency exchange sector being regulated for the first time, while deregulating low-risk industries such as cash-in-transit, which is already subject to state and territory licensing requirements.
The threat of serious financial crime is constantly evolving, as new technologies emerge and criminals seek to nefariously exploit them. These measures ensure there is nowhere for criminals to hide.
Stopping the movement of money to criminals and terrorists is a vital part of our national security defences and we expect regulated businesses in Australia to comply with our comprehensive regime. AUSTRAC has a strong track record in ensuring our financial institutions comply with the law.
The private sector is an essential partner in ensuring Australian businesses are not exploited by criminals, and I thank industry for their constructive engagement during the development of this Bill. Engagement with industry is the bedrock of our money-laundering and terrorism-financing deterrence.
The AUSTRAC-hosted Fintel Alliance, launched by Minister Keenan in March 2017, is a world-first private-public partnership to combat money laundering and terrorism financing. Through the Fintel Alliance, industry and government agencies co-design solutions that will transform the fight against terrorism financing and organised crime.

Canada sees 'unsustainable' spike in asylum seekers at U.S. border
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 10:59
TORONTO/MONTREAL (Reuters) - The number of asylum seekers who illegally crossed the U.S. border into Canada more than tripled last month, according to Canadian government data released on Thursday, as migrants worried about the U.S. administration's immigration crackdown head north.
More than 3,100 people walked across the border illegally in July to file refugee claims and were arrested, up from 884 in June, the federal government said.
Ninety-six percent of them went to Quebec, where an influx of asylum seekers, primarily Haitians, is sparking a backlash from opposition politicians and anti-immigrant groups in the primarily French-speaking province.
In the first 15 days of August, an additional 3,800 asylum seekers were arrested crossing the U.S. border into Quebec, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. More than 1,000 people are living in tents and government facilities at a Lacolle, Quebec border crossing across from upstate New York.
"It's not a crisis. It's a situation that is extraordinary. But it's well-managed," Transport Minister Marc Garneau told reporters in Lacolle on Thursday.
Canada is struggling to house and provide social assistance for the influx of asylum seekers as its refugee system faces the worst delays in years.
The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB), which is responsible for hearing all asylum claims, has redeployed resources to deal with the Quebec arrivals.
"The IRB had to make adjustments to be in a position to respond to the current situation that is clearly unsustainable," spokeswoman Anna Pape said in an email.
Canada has launched a campaign to counter misinformation about the country's refugee policy, which is believed to be one reason for the influx of refugees.
FILE PHOTO: Women claiming to be from Burundi cross the US-Canada border into Quebec from Champlain, New York, August 3, 2017. Christinne Muschi "Asking for asylum in Canada is not a guarantee for permanent residence in Canada, and it's extremely important we stress that," immigration ministry spokesman Louis Dumas told reporters.
Conservative parliamentarian Michelle Rempel, her party's immigration critic, said the government steps are a "band aid" solution.
"This situation started with Prime Minister [Justin] Trudeau's irresponsible tweets and he has a responsibility to fix it," Rempel said in a statement, referring to January tweets Trudeau sent touting Canada's welcome of refugees after a U.S. travel ban was unveiled.
FILE PHOTO: A line of asylum seekers who identified themselves as from Haiti wait to enter into Canada from Roxham Road in Champlain, New York, U.S., August 7, 2017. Christinne Muschi A Trudeau spokesman said the government has been consistent on the issue of refugees: "Canada welcomes immigrants ... that said, there are laws and processes in place for people seeking asylum and our government is sending a clear message."
Many of the most recent asylum seekers arriving in Quebec have been Haitians who face looming deportation from the United States when their temporary protected status expires in January 2018.
Canada ended its own ban on deportations to Haiti last summer. In the first quarter of this year, almost two-thirds of Haitian refugee claims were rejected, according to government figures.
The spike in asylum seekers has sparked protests by anti-migrant groups who say Canada is being soft on law-breakers.
The Montreal suburb of Boucherville has received dozens of messages on social media denouncing the asylum seekers, some of whom are being housed at a former seniors' home in the quiet suburb, according to local media reports. Montreal, Quebec's biggest city, opened its Olympic Stadium to house the arrivals.
Sylvain Brouillette, a spokesman for right-wing extremist group La Meute, which is organizing a Quebec City protest on Sunday, said his group is protesting the "policies of the Trudeau government toward illegal immigration."

Factbox: Steps for removing a U.S. president from office
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 14:29
(Reuters) - President Donald Trump has faced strong criticism for his actions regarding investigations into Russia's role in the 2016 U.S. election and contacts between his campaign and Moscow.
Trump has denied any collusion by the campaign and has frequently expressed frustration over the investigations, in particular a probe by special counsel Robert Mueller. Critics have accused Trump of seeking to hinder the investigation. The Kremlin has denied any election interference.
There is little serious talk being heard in Congress, where both the Senate and House of Representatives are controlled by Trump's fellow Republicans, of removing the president from office. However, some Democratic lawmakers have spoken of impeachment, a historically rare process in the United States that can lead to a president's removal. The Constitution's 25th Amendment offers an alternative path to stripping a president of power but has never been used for this.
IMPEACHMENTUnder the Constitution, the president, the vice president and other U.S. officials can be removed following impeachment and conviction for treason, bribery or other "high crimes and misdemeanors."
The process starts in the House. Individual members can introduce impeachment resolutions like ordinary bills, or the House can initiate proceedings by passing a resolution authorizing an inquiry.
In modern history, the House Judiciary Committee has overseen impeachment proceedings. A simple majority vote is needed to move an impeachment resolution, like other legislation, out of the committee.
At that point, it is up to the House majority leader, currently Republican Kevin McCarthy, whether to put the measure to a vote by the full chamber, and when to hold such a vote.
The full House can approve the articles of impeachment by a simple majority vote.
Impeachment is like an indictment and the Senate then tries the official. A two-thirds vote of the Senate is required for conviction, which results in removal from office.
If a president is impeached and removed, the vice president takes over until the next scheduled presidential election picks the next occupant of the White House.
Only two American presidents have been impeached: Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998. Neither was convicted by the Senate. President Richard Nixon, facing almost certain impeachment over the Watergate scandal, resigned in 1974.
THE 25TH AMENDMENTThe 25th Amendment to the Constitution was adopted in 1967, following the 1963 assassination of President John Kennedy, to clarify various issues involving presidential and vice presidential succession and incapacity.
Under the amendment's Section 4, the vice president and a majority of either Cabinet officials or "such other body as Congress may by law provide" may declare in writing that the president "is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."
If such a declaration is received by the Senate president pro tempore - who presides over the Senate in the absence of the vice president - and the speaker of the House, the vice president takes over as acting president.
The president can resume office after informing the same two congressional leaders "that no inability exists" - unless the vice president and a majority of Cabinet officials or another body established by Congress tell those congressional leaders within four days of the declaration that the chief executive is unable to carry out his or her duties.
Congress then must assemble within 48 hours to decide the issue. If two-thirds of the members of the House and of the Senate vote in their respective chambers that the president is unable to discharge his or her duties, the vice president continues as acting president until the next scheduled presidential election decides the next White House occupant. Otherwise, the president resumes office.
Other sections of the 25th Amendment have come into play, such as Section 3 enabling a president to temporarily hand over power to a vice president while, for example, undergoing a medical procedure. Section 4 has never been invoked.

Talk to your doctor about ZOSTAVAX® II, the only one-shot vaccine for the prevention of shingles.
What is shingles?Shingles is a painful, blistering rash that can last several weeks. It can occur as blisters on one side of your torso or even as a rash around your eye, neck or face. In addition to the rash-associated pain, it can cause nerve pain that can be severe and last for months or years.
Are you at risk?Yes, especially if you're over 50. If you've had chickenpox, you are at risk for shingles. It's estimated that nearly 1 in 3 Canadians will get shingles in their lifetime and the risk increases after 50.
What causes shingles? The same virus that causes chickenpox, causes shingles. The virus can stay in your body's nerve cells for many years without any problems. But sometimes, for unknown reasons, it can become active again and cause shingles without warning.

Opiant Pharmaceuticals Looks to Create a Heroin Vaccine and Treat Addictions - TheStreet
Sat, 19 Aug 2017 14:54
Opiant Pharmaceuticals Inc. (OPNT) is best known today for its Narcan Nasal Spray used to treat opioid overdoses. But CEO Roger Crystal hopes to make overdoses a thing of the past for most addicts by developing a vaccine that can end heroin dependence.
Only one in 10 addicts receive proper treatment today, according to a Surgeon General's report, and the Santa Monica, California-based company sees an immediate business opportunity and a lot of public benefit expanding its treatment franchise beyond opioids to alcohol and binge-eating addictions too.
But it also aims to one day provide vaccines that will cure addictions, Crystal told TheStreet in a recent interview. It has a particular focus on the U.S. opioid epidemic in which overdoses kill 91 people a day but sees opportunity to expand to an even larger populations with technology it is already using.
"We are the only company that has approaches to the three behaviors that are killing the most people in America: opioids, alcohol and food," said Crystal, 40, who is originally from Manchester, U.K. "We're here; we're for the now as well as committed to investing in the future."In November 2015, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Opiant's Narcan Nasal Spray to treat opioid overdose. The medication uses naloxone, an opioid antagonist, to bind to receptors in the brain, blocking opioid molecules from doing so and stopping an overdose. Using that same technology, Opiant is testing a spray using naltraxone, another opioid antagonist, to treat alcohol use disorder. Earlier this month, the company completed a phase I clinical trial of the drug, which showed the spray built a presence of naltrexone faster and three times greater than another intranasally dosed naltrexone formulation.

Historic Settlement Reached on Behalf of CIA Torture Victims
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 11:14
Two victims of the CIA's torture program have reached a historic legal settlement with the contract psychologists who designed and helped implement it. The U.S. government has never publicly compensated any of the men tortured in CIA custody, and this legal settlement '-- the terms of which are confidential '-- is the first of its kind.
Under former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, the Justice Department repeatedly moved to block lawsuits at their early stages, arguing that court cases about government torture in clandestine prisons would reveal state secrets. In 2015, however, the American Civil Liberties Union filed suit against James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, the two psychologists the CIA paid to create torture techniques.
The lawsuit argued that those techniques were later used on the plaintiffs in the case '-- Suleiman Abdullah Salim and Mohamed Ben Soud, who had been tortured in CIA custody before being released without charges, as well as the family of a third man, Gul Rahman, who was tortured to death in U.S. custody in 2002.
After overcoming multiple government attempts to dismiss the case, the suit was set to go to trial Sept. 5. Today, the ACLU announced the last-minute settlement. Because the settlement mandates confidentiality, lawyers for the ACLU declined to discuss the terms with The Intercept.
''Every previous case involving the CIA torture program was shut down before it even began,'' said Dror Ladin, an ACLU attorney. ''But our clients prevailed over three separate attempts to dismiss their claims, were able to force top CIA officials to answer questions under oath, and secured a first-of-its-kind settlement.''
Ben Soud told the New York Times: ''I feel that justice has been served. Our goal from the beginning was justice and for the people to know what happened in this black hole that was run by the C.I.A.'s offices.''
As part of the settlement, the plaintiffs and defendants released a joint statement admitting that Salim and Ben Soud were subject to ''coercive methods,'' and that Mitchell and Jessen had ''contemplated the use of specific coercive methods to interrogate certain detainees.'' In the statement, Mitchell and Jessen maintain that they had no direct knowledge or involvement in the plaintiffs' interrogations.
As the case had progressed, Mitchell and Jessen maintained that they were not the architects of the program, and that they were merely following government orders. In a bizarre legal defense, the psychologists' lawyers compared their clients to the contractors who supplied the Nazis with Zyklon B, the poison gas used to murder millions of Jews and others during the Holocaust.
Senate investigators found that Mitchell and Jessen were intimately involved in the program's formation, and even personally waterboarded Abu Zubaydah, the first detainee in CIA custody. Investigators also found that the psychologists later formed their own company to consult with the CIA, which was paid $81 million before the program was shut down in 2009.
In an opinion to deny a motion of summary judgment last week, Judge Justin Quackenbush dismissed Mitchell and Jessen's claim that they were not the creators. ''It is not credible to argue Defendants were paid $80 million for suggesting some techniques the Air Force '... already knew about,'' Quackenbush said. ''It is also undisputed that defendants did not merely suggest ['enhanced interrogation techniques'], they actually applied EITs to Zubaydah, interrogated Rahman, and participated in the program for several years.''
According to the original lawsuit, Salim and Ben Soud were both subjected to beatings, starvation, stress positions, confinement in coffin-like boxes, and various forms of water torture. Both had suffered lasting physical and psychological damage. In November 2002, Rahman was stripped naked, beaten, immersed in cold water, and put in an isolation cell overnight, where he died from hypothermia.
Although the government was not a defendant in the case, Mitchell and Jessen likely had access to CIA coffers to cover their legal fees. In 2013, Senate investigators found that Mitchell and Jessen had signed a multimillion-dollar indemnification contract with the CIA, saying that the government would foot their legal bills through 2021 if they were ever sued or prosecuted.
After Obama shut down the CIA's torture program in 2009, his administration was widely criticized by human rights groups, who argued that the administration's failure to prosecute officials involved in the program opened the door for future administrations to ignore the law and practice torture again.

VIDEO - 'Fox & Friends' guest: Anyone who defends Trump is 'morally bankrupt' | TheHill
Sun, 20 Aug 2017 11:34
A Republican analyst wiped tears from his eyes as he said President Trump ''betrayed" the country, speaking Wednesday morning on ''Fox & Friends,'' a show known to be among Trump's favorites.
Gianno Caldwell, appearing with political commentator Wendy Osefo, said he could not sleep because of Trump's comments at a press conference Tuesday. The president reaffirmed that he believes ''both sides'' were to blame for the violence in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend, again refusing to put all the blame on the white supremacists who organized the rally.
''Our president has literally betrayed the conscience of our country,'' he said. ''He has failed us.''Caldwell said it is ''very troubling'' for anyone to come on TV and defend the president's actions and said that anyone who does defend his actions is ''morally bankrupt.''
He responded to Trump's comment that there are ''good people'' who were marching on ''both sides'' of the Charlottesville rally.
''Mr. President, good people don't pal around with Nazis and white supremacists,'' he said. ''Maybe they don't consider themselves white supremacists and Nazis; certainly they hold those views.''
''I hope the president learns a lesson from his press conference on yesterday. It's disturbing,'' he said.
Host Abby Huntsman tried to steer the conversation to the topic of removing Confederate statues, but Caldwell returned to Trump.
He added that he reached out to the White House suggesting the president address the country in ''distinct terms.''

VIDEO - I Think Hillary FORGOT Her Best Friend Was The Leader Of The KKK. Let's Remind Her. | Yes I'm Right.
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 19:35
You know that tactic candidates use during the election cycles where they dig up dirt on the opposition in an attempt to make them seem weaker, untrustworthy, or just plain evil. Hillary has been doing it to Trump for months, let's return the favor shall we?
On the evil side of things, you can't get much worse than the KKK. The KKK is a racist and bigoted organization that believe in the complete eradication of any race other than whites. Also, not surprisingly, it was started by Democrats.
Even in today's news cycle, you get KKK members making headway and sometimes, getting to very high levels of government. Robert C. Byrd is one of these individuals. Byrd, a former KKK leader, somehow got to be a senator for West Virginia despite his bigoted past.
And you'll never believe who called him a friend and mentor. Take a wild guess.
Yes that's right, Hillary Clinton herself. When Hillary became a NY Senator, she looked to Byrd for guidance. I'll repeat that to let it sink in. Hillary, the Democratic nominee for the presidency, sought out a known former KKK leader to be a MENTOR and FRIEND.
Here's Bill Clinton trying to make excuses for Byrd's involvement. Yeah, somehow I don't think ol' Bill is the greatest judge of character'...
This does line up with how the liberals treat the black community, though. The DNC emails showed that they do not care about the black community and that the DNC itself is pretty covertly racist.
It also lines up with hot the Democrats keep the black community at bay in their own neighborhoods and haven't done anything to help them dig out of the poverty and violence that surround them daily.
This brings up a question: Is Hillary a racist as well? Does she want to continue to keep the black community down for personal gain? We can't answer those questions without definitive proof, but this is as damning as any evidence we can find.

VIDEO - Tina Fey Delivers Takedown of President Trump, White Supremacists on 'Weekend Update' (Watch)
Fri, 18 Aug 2017 13:00
Tina Fey turned up on Thursday's edition of ''Saturday Night Live's'' special summer ''Weekend Update'' episode to deliver a biting commentary on the violence in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend and President Donald Trump's response.
Fey encouraged anguished Americans to engage in ''sheetcaking,'' or the process of binge eating a sheet cake with an American flag design on the icing. Fey told viewers that she graduated from the University of Virginia, which is in Charlottesville, in 1992. She wore a gray sweatshirt emblazoned with the university's logo.
''It broke my heart to see these evil forces descend on Charlottesville,'' Fey said of the white supremacists rally held on Friday and Saturday. The melee among protesters and counter-protester on Saturday left a 32-year-old woman dead.
Fey's history with the city clearly animated her performance opposite ''Weekend Update'' anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che. Fey anchored ''Weekend Update'' for most of her 1998-2006 tenure on ''SNL'' as a writer and performer. During her roughly five-minute segment, Fey spoke with bits of cake flying out of her mouth. She told Jost that ''sheetcaking'' is a ''grassroots movement '-- most of the women I know have been doing it once a week since the election.''
Here are some of Fey's best zingers:
''I've seen 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' and I wasn't confused by it,'' she said. ''Nazis are always bad. I don't care what you say.''''It's not our country. We stole it from Native Americans. When they have a peaceful protest at Standing Rock we shoot at them with rubber bullets but we let you chinless turds march in the streets with semi-automatic weapons.''''Who drove the car into the crowd '-- Hillary's emails?''Hammering House Speaker Paul Ryan for his failure to rebuke President Trump: ''Racism is bad @realdonaldtrump, you pussy.''Regarding Trump's objection to the removal of Confederate Army-related monuments: ''You know he'd take them down in a second if he thought he could build poorly constructed condos on the spot.''Finally, Fey made an appeal to all Americans to stay away from more extremist rallies planned for this weekend: ''Treat these rallies like the opening of a thoughtful movie with two female leads: Don't show up.''Get more from Variety and Variety411: Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Newsletter
