Unknown: Hey, Adam curry

Adam Curry: Jhansi Devorah Feb 20 Min 2024 This Year Award
0:07
winning nation media assassination episode 1637. This
0:11
Unknown: is no agenda. We
0:14
Adam Curry: got Israeli motivations and we're
0:16
broadcasting live from the heart of the Texas Hill Country here
0:19
and figurines number six in the morning, everybody
0:23
John C Dvorak: from Northern Silicon Valley where we all say
0:25
Happy Chinese New Year. I'm Jhansi. Dvorak.
0:32
Adam Curry: Yes. And this one they start spreading some
0:35
disease. Yeah. It was, yeah, it was around this time. Was it
0:43
three years ago, four years ago. I can't remember now, as it was,
0:48
I think it was almost four years ago. Can you believe in? how
0:52
long we've been dealing with that bullcrap.
0:54
John C Dvorak: Yeah. Well, you know, that's what you do. And
0:57
had to be almost four years ago because it was right when Trump
1:01
was leaving office. Yes. And I went to actually it was before
1:05
that. So during Trump's administration, he had to deal
1:08
with nine months. That's right. That's right. He
1:09
Adam Curry: was blocked off. He was racist. He was blocking
1:13
trice from jet flight from China. Yeah, yeah. Were you a
1:16
racist, racist, racist, xenophobic, and, and so now here
1:20
we are four years later, and the you're
1:23
John C Dvorak: good, you get your booster. I get more
1:28
boosters. I need I need great. Works great.
1:32
Adam Curry: I need to schedule I'm lagging and the UK Office
1:37
for National Statistics. You know, they find these excess
1:41
deaths. Very annoying. So what do we do just like we do in the
1:45
financial markets, when we don't like the numbers, what do we do?
1:49
We just try that we just, we just changed the way we count
1:53
Unknown: doing. And since the Coronavirus pandemic, we've
1:56
generally seen more people die than we'd expect. We call these
2:00
deaths above average excess deaths. Different organizations
2:04
have used different ways to calculate this, each with merit
2:08
in particular uses, for example, for planning health
2:10
interventions, and identifying emerging threats. In the spirit
2:15
of continuous improvement, we've been working with independent
2:18
experts and those across government and the devolved
2:21
nations to develop a common UK wide approach. Using our new
2:25
approach. Today's release estimates 11,000 excess deaths
2:30
in 2023. While this is lower than our previous estimate, our
2:34
new method accounts for the growth and ageing of the
2:37
population. These are key factors in understanding how
2:40
many deaths we'd expect to see whether the number of deaths is
2:44
below or above this. So here we go. Looking more closely at the
2:48
last month for 2023. So we're actually negative excess deaths,
2:53
meaning fewer deaths, in average being registered for the back
2:56
across the pandemic for trends and peaks in excess deaths are
3:00
the same using the new method as they were under the old method.
3:04
It's important to note that our estimates of excess deaths are
3:07
just estimates. They can't be counted individually, unlike
3:12
death registrations, which haven't changed.
3:16
Adam Curry: I mean, could it get first of all, nice music bed
3:21
Office for National Statistics? I mean, they just didn't like
3:26
it. Oh, it was 11,000. So we just changed it. And now it's
3:29
negative. So shut up conspiracy theorists. And by the way, these
3:33
are estimates we can't really even know. Hmm. The insurance
3:37
the insurance companies seem to know. They seem to Yeah, they go
3:43
along, but now they know they know the numbers. It's it's I
3:47
mean, I'm just I'm flabbergasted. I mean, I'm not
3:50
really surprised. But still, I mean, kind of flabbergasted. You
3:55
know? Crazy. Not quite as crazy as the latest breaking news,
4:02
breaking news breaking news. They're at it again. Oh my god.
4:05
We've got to deploy fighter
4:06
Unknown: jets tonight in the skies above the western United
4:09
States NORAD sending up fighter jet fighters back to high
4:12
altitude balloon flying at 43,000 to 45,000 feet and
4:17
official tells us the balloon is some 50 feet tall with a two
4:20
foot payload. Its contents are unknown, and they do not believe
4:24
the balloon is being steered remotely. The military first
4:28
spawning in over Utah. It is now drifting east. No word on who
4:32
sent the balloon where it's going or what its mission might
4:35
be. The Biden administration keenly aware it comes just a
4:39
year after a Chinese spy balloon was spotted flying clear across
4:43
the country. President Biden ordering it shot down off the
4:46
coast of South Carolina. That balloon was much larger than the
4:50
balloon currently drifting across the country. Its payload
4:53
alone was the size of three buses. Tonight the origin of
4:57
this new balloon unclear but officials telling us it does not
5:01
pose a threat to national security.
5:03
Still a lot of questions over this. Let's get right to Mary
5:05
Bruce live at the White House tonight and Mary's
5:09
Adam Curry: very excited scrambled rambling, saying,
5:12
Well, what are we saying?
5:13
Unknown: Well, David, for now, they
5:14
are continuing to closely track and monitor this. They
5:17
determined that as of now, this does not pose a risk to flight
5:20
safety. And we're told NORAD and the FAA are closely coordinating
5:24
to make sure it stays that way.
5:27
Adam Curry: You're with a guy who went way way. Wait,
5:29
John C Dvorak: wait, what does she mean by make sure it stays
5:33
that way? Is that thing going to morph into a flying saucers? I'm
5:37
going to change the transformer.
5:39
Adam Curry: Exactly. Oh, this is just I guess this is China fear.
5:44
You know, hey, we got to scramble some jets. We need more
5:46
money.
5:47
John C Dvorak: Can you imagine how much money it costs to
5:49
scramble a bunch of jets?
5:50
Adam Curry: I'm sure one of our producers could actually give us
5:53
the figure. I'm sure they actually know. It's not like we
5:57
could get it from a pentagon audit. But yeah, I'm sure so
6:01
where,
6:01
John C Dvorak: by the way? Yes.
6:04
Adam Curry: Yes. Do tell. Where's
6:05
John C Dvorak: that Pentagon audit?
6:06
Adam Curry: Did you see that the Marine Corps passed a full
6:10
financial audit? No. Yeah. Semper
6:14
John C Dvorak: Fi. Yeah. Well, I mean, somebody can do the job.
6:18
Let me see what it's turned over the Pentagon to the Marines. Oh,
6:22
they they that should get us some donations. Right.
6:27
Adam Curry: full financial audit for the first time with the
6:30
service announcing Friday, its fiscal 2023 financial audit
6:33
received an unmodified audit opinion. This is interesting
6:38
after a rigorous two year review, how do you get how do
6:42
you get a two year review for 2023? Audit? It's only 2024.
6:50
John C Dvorak: Well, they must they obviously referring to
6:53
combination 22 and 23. I guess. I guess it's a milestone or they
6:58
do time travel. Maybe that's it. It's
7:01
Adam Curry: it's a milestone. It's a beautiful thing. You
7:04
remember that guy? Actually, I met the guy who wrote the book
7:07
about it. Who had a lawn chair and he tied Boutwell weather
7:11
balloons to it. And he wound up flying up to like 50,000 feet.
7:16
And planes were spotting him and he had a BB gun to shoot the
7:19
balloons to go back down again. Remember that guy?
7:24
John C Dvorak: I remember something about Yeah, like the
7:26
one that had the kid in it. There was nothing
7:28
Adam Curry: Oh, no, no, that was Oh, man. That was the best hoax.
7:31
Balloon Boy Balloon Boy. Yeah, no, this is not Balloon Boy. Now
7:35
the guy it was it was in the late 90s I think. Yeah. And he
7:41
had a whole bunch of balloons tied to tied to his lawn chair
7:45
and floated up. We should try that. Somebody should try that
7:55
again. And you get you know, scramble some fighter you're
7:57
John C Dvorak: good balloon is you could pull that
7:58
Adam Curry: off. It would be funny. If if the fighter enough
8:01
the fighter jets. We knew what he was doing. If the fighter
8:04
jets were scrambled, and then flying by and there's a dude in
8:07
a lawn chair. I mean,
8:08
John C Dvorak: what if one of them thought it was funny to be
8:10
strafing him?
8:12
Adam Curry: Come on. Where's your American humor? Were fun at
8:15
this that wouldn't be humorous waved the Jets. This thing was
8:19
only 40,000 feet you know you can you can get up there for a
8:22
little bit with some oxygen not too long, but it might be
8:25
chilly. It's been done before.
8:28
John C Dvorak: Before we get to the good stuff. Yes. I think we
8:32
should at least do a little review. What happened? There was
8:34
an election. That Trump one yes. And Nikki Haley staying in the
8:39
in the race even though she had her ass kicked in her own state.
8:42
Yes. But she's staying in because the Democrats are
8:45
keeping her going.
8:46
Adam Curry: I have a clip of Nikki if you want to hear a
8:48
clip. Love it.
8:50
Unknown: Today in South Carolina. We're getting around
8:53
40% of the vote.
8:56
That's one way of looking at it.
9:03
Adam Curry: By the way, the 40% of vote is only 19,000 people
9:06
it's not like this was some big thing.
9:12
Unknown: That's about what that's about what we got New
9:14
Hampshire to. I'm gonna count it. I know 40% is not 50%. But I
9:25
also know 40% is not some tiny group is 19,000
9:31
Adam Curry: people. Big deal. It wasn't 19
9:34
John C Dvorak: I think it was more No, no, I
9:35
Adam Curry: looked at numbers. It was 19,000 people. And Trump
9:39
had now 22 Or something I'm surprised it didn't break out in
9:47
in a little bit of rap there. You know, there's
9:50
Unknown: lots of noise in politics, people. Other with
9:55
great big steps. Nikki Haley stands above them. Rest. She's
10:00
been pulling food to the test with Trump the bully.
10:07
Adam Curry: I can't get enough of Tim Draper heels with twice
10:10
John C Dvorak: it's mine. He's financing the whole thing.
10:13
Adam Curry: Of course he's financing it. That's why he's a
10:15
she should have played his song. I mean, it's rude. There we go.
10:31
Unknown: There, there are huge numbers of voters in our
10:35
Republican primaries who were saying they want an alternative.
10:43
I said earlier this week that no matter what happens in South
10:46
Carolina, I would continue to run for as
10:50
Adam Curry: long as Draper finances me because he believes
10:53
Trump's going to jail. I'm a woman of my word. There's your
11:02
sound bite. There's your sound bite.
11:04
John C Dvorak: Okay, so Nikki Haley got 298,674 votes.
11:10
Adam Curry: No, I guess I was looking at the wrong numbers
11:12
then. I think so. Well, this is why they're two of us. Thank
11:16
you.
11:18
John C Dvorak: Trump got five 451,900 oh five
11:22
Adam Curry: go wow. Oh, that was that's a spanking a spanking of
11:25
epic proportion. Did you see him bring up? Lindy Hop, gray ham.
11:31
Trump
11:32
John C Dvorak: dead they were both up there him and the other
11:34
senator. It
11:36
Adam Curry: was kind of weird because everyone was booing him.
11:39
Yeah.
11:41
John C Dvorak: Yeah, they're boring but they keep reelecting
11:43
him shot. Does that make sense? You
11:44
Unknown: want to hear it? Sure. A lot of people
11:49
he doesn't do too much. He happens to be a little bit
11:53
further left on the stage. But I always say when I'm in trouble
11:59
on the left, I call out Lindsey Graham.
12:03
Adam Curry: backhanded slam
12:11
No, no. Remember? Remember what we remember. Remember the main
12:19
we remain free remember my Dawn yesterday? Remember? war monger
12:24
Lindsey. Good man
12:32
he looks he looks kind of inebriated. He sounded okay. He
12:40
sounded he sounded okay. But he was really flush. You know, like
12:44
kind of like he probably
12:45
John C Dvorak: the easiest one. It gives a lot of let's put it.
12:48
Obviously people that are in Washington DC know how to drink.
12:51
Yeah. And so they can drink a lot is still sound kind of
12:54
sober. You want to and that's what he what? He I'm sure he was
12:59
drinking heavily. He would hope. I don't know what he was hoping
13:02
for. But
13:02
Adam Curry: Oh, here he is. Okay, all
13:04
Unknown: right. Yeah.
13:08
America, the nightmare you're facing is just about over the
13:14
way this is the most qualified man be president.
13:25
And the President said that South Carolina created the
13:32
biggest political act in American history.
13:41
John C Dvorak: Yeah, okay, so I got some analysis from PBS. Oh,
13:46
well, my favorite correspondent to Lopez woman though
13:50
Adam Curry: I have her later, too. Yes, the Lopez. You know,
13:54
she's kind of annoying. You think? She's a little bit
13:59
annoying? Yes. Yeah. And she's very than a
14:01
John C Dvorak: little very. She
14:02
Adam Curry: is very biased.
14:04
John C Dvorak: Oh, she's a she's a bigoted woman. Correspondent,
14:07
typical PBS. I don't know. Do you have one of those hires?
14:12
Yeah, they may have very few. He knows the
14:17
Adam Curry: higher the next the DEI hires that we are
14:20
insinuating here.
14:21
John C Dvorak: Yeah. Okay. She's I'm not saying she's
14:24
incompetent. She's a good she does Jen flub, she's not. But
14:28
she you can just see she's so she's worse than anyone they've
14:31
had before for being biased. And I want to play three clips.
14:35
Adam Curry: It's PBS it should be representative of all of
14:37
America. It's called that
14:39
John C Dvorak: those days. guide with one of my thinking when I
14:43
fall. That's
14:43
Adam Curry: right. And how we miss good old Gwen. She was
14:46
good. She
14:47
John C Dvorak: was good. Well, she's I think the one that put
14:49
the kibosh on a lot of the stuff they were trying to do. And
14:52
let's go with election. Analysis. Lopez one out for
14:56
Unknown: the latest law, it's fair to say President Biden has
14:59
an because he has some gap among some in his base, who are the
15:02
voters that he's having the most trouble with right now.
15:05
He's having a lot of trouble with young voters and voters of
15:08
color on that. And I spoke to Nancy's dunkel wits who is a
15:11
democratic pollster with Zita, a research. And she recently
15:15
conducted focus groups with Latino voters, black voters, and
15:18
moderate Republicans and especially among Latino voters.
15:21
She said that there was a Hispanic woman in that group who
15:25
questioned the President's message on the economy
15:28
specifically that they weren't happy when they heard the
15:30
president, compare us inflation rates to other countries
15:35
inflation rates, trying to present what they thought was
15:37
too rosy of a picture in terms of US economy. And ultimately
15:42
Nancy's it, uncle, it said that what Democrats have is a
15:46
messenger problem. This might be a sort of reverse coattails kind
15:50
of election, where we see that statewide Democrats and
15:54
congressional Democrats are carrying the president across
15:56
the line. I can't tell you a single state right now where
15:59
I've surveyed where statewide Democrat was not more popular,
16:04
and exceeding the vote share of the President. So don't go into
16:08
Warren that this is a real problem for Democrats. And it's
16:10
not something that they can wish away.
16:12
Adam Curry: Women so the the wonderful analysis from PBS here
16:17
is the Democrats have a messenger problem really? Gee,
16:22
gee, gee, who would have thought
16:24
John C Dvorak: they finally Yeah, they're coming around to
16:27
this conclude, because they're their guy
16:28
Adam Curry: is is an old abused, dude, who can't really
16:33
communicate who can't remember things. They come up with a
16:37
never No, no, no, no, that's not working any more than letting
16:40
them go. They're
16:41
John C Dvorak: gonna de have little. Here's my thesis, or
16:45
hypothesis. Yeah, you
16:47
Adam Curry: name it, whatever you want. They have
16:48
John C Dvorak: let him slide from the from the uppers as long
16:53
as they can. So they can really pump him up for the Union
16:57
address in March. Because they can't keep them pumped up
17:01
because he's gonna blow. He's
17:02
Adam Curry: gonna explode. I don't know. I don't know if he's
17:05
gonna make it.
17:06
John C Dvorak: So he's gonna get to the State of the Union.
17:08
They're gonna give it to him. He's gonna be so wired for that
17:13
speech. There was just this guy's got lots of energy.
17:17
Adam Curry: You want? Yeah. And I'm, I'm waiting
17:20
John C Dvorak: for the state that state of the union is going
17:21
to be a killer. Alright, let's go with Lopez to
17:25
Unknown: to the economy remains a challenging issue. But where
17:27
is the President seeing any traction, what issues and with
17:30
what voters?
17:31
As I mentioned, on the Nancy's uncle, it spoke to moderate
17:35
Republicans as well. And so in that focus group, they found
17:38
that when they presented the contrast between President Biden
17:41
and former President Donald Trump that a lot of those
17:43
moderate Republicans started to move more towards President
17:46
Biden specifically on like democracy January 6, and on
17:50
abortion.
17:53
John C Dvorak: Wait, so the Republican moderates are voting
17:57
because of democracy? Yes, yes. And January 6, that's what's at
18:02
the top of their mind. They're thinking, Oh, my God, that
18:05
January 6, bowl crap, that I'm thinking, Oh, that's that means
18:10
I've been a vote for Biden, because I don't want that to
18:12
happen again. And oh, and Trump's a threat to democracy,
18:16
even though everybody left and right including now Hawaii's
18:19
trying to take him off the ballot. That's democratic. Okay,
18:23
so we'll go with that analysis.
18:25
Adam Curry: You sound very animated and somewhat upset.
18:29
John C Dvorak: I'm very upset. I'm upset with the bull crap. I
18:33
mean, do you really think that any Republican is voting based
18:37
on the January 6?
18:41
Adam Curry: No, I don't. But you know, that they're gonna try
18:45
they're gonna try and push that. I mean, that was their big TV
18:48
show. That was that was the big thing they had they got Liz
18:51
Cheney. They got they got everybody to
18:54
John C Dvorak: get and every one of them got voted out shortly
18:57
thereafter. They're
18:59
Adam Curry: desperate. There's obvious they're desperate. This
19:01
lady, this pollster. She's Democrat, Democrat pollster.
19:05
Hello. I mean, that it's lies, lies and statistics. And
19:12
John C Dvorak: clips worry
19:13
Unknown: that abortion, she said is the second most important
19:16
issue that they're hearing from a lot of voters across the
19:19
board, not just moderate Republicans. The two fixes that
19:22
Democrats could have for that she said is that President Biden
19:25
needs to be very clear about his platform for a second term, and
19:28
also get more surrogates out there that could boost his
19:30
message. Oh, yeah,
19:31
Adam Curry: they need surrogates. All right. Wow.
19:36
Well,
19:37
John C Dvorak: I haven't read it yet, because I've heard other
19:39
analysis that says, including from Jen Psaki, no goodness, you
19:44
have came out on one of their shows and say, Oh, Biden's gotta
19:47
get out there more. Yeah. Be out in front. No, Mercer gets
19:51
screwed that this has Biden
19:53
Adam Curry: she tries to sabotage them. What is she
19:55
doing?
19:55
John C Dvorak: I don't know what she's up to.
19:57
Adam Curry: That's crazy. You don't you don't want it? You're
19:59
right. And we We got to keep him in the Adrenochrome, you know,
20:02
tight until the State of the State of the Union. Meanwhile,
20:07
Turkish Radio Television Did, did an interesting report of the
20:11
South Carolina primary and came up with this
20:14
Unknown: today for the past two days in South Carolina. We've
20:17
been hearing the same message from voter after voter. They
20:21
believe only one man can defeat the president occupant of the
20:24
White House.
20:26
My vote for Donald Trump. We've got to get Biden out of office.
20:30
We've got a it's it's a shame what is being done to the man is
20:37
old
20:38
to
20:39
Adam Curry: South Carolina Republicans. They even have
20:41
compassion for Joe but
20:44
Unknown: there were very few people bucking the trend. Many
20:47
of the votes Haley did get were from Democrats so determined to
20:51
stop Trump that they temporarily switched parties. Now
20:54
Adam Curry: listen to this lady, and tell me this is not a
20:58
maniacal person.
20:59
Unknown: I voted outside of my party because I think it's
21:03
important for somebody other than President Trump to have a
21:08
chance so I voted for Nikki Haley
21:10
but you're a Democrat. I am so you're you're taking part in the
21:13
Republican primary.
21:14
I am. Yep. First time ever my parents would be horrified.
21:21
Adam Curry: Tell me tell me that person isn't deranged. Wow.
21:29
rather interesting, then we them, you know, but so here's
21:34
the unhinged part. And people are coming apart at the seams
21:38
and it's kind of weird. Bob Costas, I don't know much about
21:40
sports ball. But I remember Bob Costas. Bob Costas was the cool
21:45
collected dude, who did the sports ball announcement. Yeah.
21:49
John C Dvorak: And he they actually game a late night show
21:51
for a while he took over from stock Tom Snyder. Right. And he
21:54
could do what Tom Snyder's old it's called The Late Late Show,
21:57
whatever was
21:58
Adam Curry: called he couldn't Broadway.
22:00
John C Dvorak: Well, he actually could. Yeah, he was pretty good.
22:03
But he was not. He was not as good as Snyder's
22:07
Adam Curry: run into some controversy. Didn't he get
22:11
kicked off for that? Because I'm, why do I even know this?
22:14
But I have a feeling that he got D platformed. I'm sure it's I'm
22:19
sure Italy on page because he didn't he have some I'm gonna
22:24
say sex scandal when there's something like that. Anyway, he
22:28
was on Smerconish. He was on Smerconish and the poor Bob
22:33
Costas coming apart, you come
22:35
Unknown: at this from a position of not wanting to see Trump get
22:39
elected. You should state that at the outset. True. Yes,
22:43
absolutely. He is by far the most disgraceful figure in
22:47
modern presidential history. He's only become more
22:50
disgraceful since 2016. And since 2020, he has a bubbling
22:54
cauldron of loathsome traits. And it's only those who are
22:58
actually suffering from Trump derangement syndrome, which is
23:02
the way they and Fox News and all the rest of Magha media try
23:05
to brush aside all the legitimate criticisms of Trump,
23:09
you have to be in the throes of some sort of toxic delusion, in
23:13
an A toxic cult to believe that Donald Trump has ever been in
23:18
any sense, emotionally, psychologically, intellectually
23:22
or ethically fit to be president of the United States.
23:27
Adam Curry: So you gotta be in some kind of cult.
23:32
John C Dvorak: Man play the beginning of that clip, again,
23:34
just the first couple sentences. Sure
23:36
Unknown: you come at this from a position of not wanting to see
23:39
Trump get elected. You should state that at the outset. True.
23:44
Yes, absolutely. He is by far the most disgraceful figure in
23:48
modern presidential history. He's only become more
23:51
disgraceful since 2016. Yeah, okay. So what specifically is he
23:56
talking about?
23:58
Adam Curry: He's because he's putting people into a coat. This
24:01
is part of a narrative. I didn't want to do it this early in the
24:05
show, but I might as well there's a there's a narrative
24:08
that they've been way just waiting, waiting to spring and
24:12
you know, the, it's the whole religious cults mean, and
24:18
they've just been waiting to do this. And they finally got an
24:21
opportunity. And when I say they, that's the Democratic
24:25
machine. Yeah,
24:27
John C Dvorak: yeah. But I'm gonna stop you before he I want
24:29
to hear this. But I'd like to know specifics here. If you're
24:33
going to start making these accusations that all the
24:35
Democrats do Oh, Trump is a criminal. Oh, Trump is this he's
24:39
that. Give me one example.
24:42
Adam Curry: But why are you asking me I'm not Bob Costas
24:44
buf. You're,
24:46
John C Dvorak: you're the one with the presentation. Bob
24:49
Costas. Did he ever say what the what this disgraceful that? What
24:53
does this disgraces worse? Specifically? What are they?
24:57
Adam Curry: No, I think Hold on. Again this I didn't want to do
25:01
this here but I'm going to do it now let me go back to this Bob
25:04
Costas thing because at the end he says in
25:08
John C Dvorak: an A toxic cult that's what he says this is the
25:11
point of to be in the throes of some sort of toxic delusion in
25:15
an A toxic cult visit this is what he likes the word toxics
25:19
Yes. So we have to assume that toxic is on the list toxic Yes.
25:24
Yes that we're gonna be hearing that's
25:26
Adam Curry: yes it is. We kind of roll out the the
25:31
John C Dvorak: wildlife toxic by the way it's a good word.
25:33
Adam Curry: I thought we had that in toxic what what was the
25:36
more recall it again, the Trump
25:39
John C Dvorak: was the list Trump derangement syndrome now,
25:42
we
25:42
Adam Curry: had a list we had we had a name for the list. The
25:46
rotation that
25:46
John C Dvorak: Trump rotation Yeah, the Trump rotation. Let's
25:49
review online. Let's
25:50
Adam Curry: review. It's only 58 seconds. Let's see from 2016
25:54
Let's see if toxic was on the list. I have
25:57
John C Dvorak: my list and you might want to see if there's
25:59
anything I left out. This is the Trump rotation and his two
26:01
categories is irregular and then there's the criminal but here we
26:04
go. Ready? Here we go. Liar, incompetent, unhinged,
26:08
illegitimate President white supremacist, racist bully,
26:12
immature Russian agent narcissist mean long ties,
26:17
insane tweets too much small hands all penis big red button,
26:22
criminal. Me racist, immature sin skin runs the Mark has no
26:30
money. Unstable, fatter than 239 pounds and bankrupt 25th
26:36
amendment and should be instituted. He hates women
26:39
misogynist holds grudges forever plays golf a lot obstruction of
26:44
justice, money laundering and clown.
26:48
Adam Curry: John? No, no wonder we're making America white
26:53
again. So no toxic on the list. You're right. It's new. It's new
26:57
for the list. But they're going with a different tact. That the
27:04
it's been the white Christian nationalists for a while now.
27:09
And now we have to make that into a cult. It's not a
27:12
religion, by the way. White Nationalist not a religion.
27:15
Christian nationalist. Not a Religion. No, it's a cult. And
27:20
it's a political cult. And that's what cost is. I don't
27:23
think Costas can bring himself to do the full thing. But it
27:26
really started with a beautiful switcheroo which included the
27:31
University of Alabama, which is a major woke University. I mean,
27:39
like major major woke. So
27:42
John C Dvorak: there was the as bad as Arkansas.
27:46
Adam Curry: Maybe even worse, maybe even worse. Watch the
27:50
documentary. Was it Bama with all the girls going there and
27:54
social media is an interesting documentary anyway. So in
27:59
Alabama, there was a court case that went up to the Allah the
28:03
Alabama Supreme Court cup at a two couples you're banging your
28:07
mic. It was too cold,
28:08
John C Dvorak: not banging the mic? Well, whatever it is
28:10
something else and I'm trying to stop it from happening. I'm not
28:13
sure what to lubricate. I do have the IVs. No, I
28:16
Adam Curry: have it all. I'm not going to lubricate every time
28:18
you want me to present it? Or do you want to interject? No, I
28:21
John C Dvorak: do. I literally have a clip. of it. Of course.
28:26
The PBS clips have
28:27
Adam Curry: a million drive to many clips, I can't even play
28:30
them all. But I want to I want to explain because it's fun to
28:33
see the switcheroo. And we don't need to have a clip necessarily
28:37
about what actually happened. Other than two couples in
28:40
Alabama, they had had children with IVF IVF. IVF is where you
28:45
actually create the child and in a petri dish, and then you
28:48
freeze it until you implant it in the womb. And
28:51
John C Dvorak: ants for in vitro fertilization.
28:53
Adam Curry: Thank you. And you get twins often, by the way,
28:59
which is always a fun little side effect. And so they paid a
29:03
company to keep their the dad successfully implanted and had
29:08
kids both of these couples, and then the company that's supposed
29:11
to take care of their embryo, the frozen embryos, they screwed
29:16
it up, and they dropped on the floor swept them up. I don't
29:19
know what happened, something horrible went wrong. And so they
29:22
sued them for wrongful death. Which then, which who knows how
29:28
much of this is all a setup, but they sue for wrongful death and
29:32
the Supreme Court justice in Alabama, came out with the
29:36
opinion says yep, their children. So it's wrongful
29:39
death, therefore, you can be penalized for that. And then the
29:42
University of Alabama turns around and goes, Oh, well, we
29:46
can do any IVF. Now because it's scary, so scary because we might
29:50
get sued if we drop a child on the ground, which is the setup
29:55
and the switcheroo happens right away in the mainstream
29:58
Unknown: women relying on it. IVF and their advocates had
30:01
feared the fall of Roe would open the door to States further
30:05
restricting reproductive rights. Still, the Alabama decision sent
30:09
shockwaves this
30:10
case or a case like it could go all the way up to the Supreme
30:13
Court at some point. And that's what really puts the future of
30:17
fertility care at risk. Kate
30:19
Weldon LeBlanc heads up resolve New England, an infertility
30:22
support group, her own daughter Sophie was born through IVF. She
30:26
calls it an intensely personal and emotional journey between an
30:29
individual and her doctor, not politicians and judges, people
30:33
do not understand the medicine of reproductive health care. So
30:36
Adam Curry: it's already gone away from IVF. Immediately, no
30:40
one's talking about the actual case. Now it's Roe v. Wade. It's
30:45
the hate children they hate any the Republicans are crazy
30:49
Christians, and
30:51
Unknown: they are making changes that are going to impact people
30:55
that are desperately trying to welcome much wanted children
30:59
into their lives.
31:00
Adam Curry: Okay. So here's how it gets, I guess, guess what?
31:05
John C Dvorak: I love the use of the term much wanted.
31:10
Adam Curry: This whole thing is crazy. I'm gonna give you a good
31:12
example, with the view because that's where America's women go
31:16
to get their news. But
31:18
Unknown: you don't want to explain to Republicans want to
31:20
stop rich people from having children doesn't make sense. On
31:24
the one hand, they
31:25
want you to not have an abortion, then they also don't
31:27
want you to have more children make up your mind. Does
31:30
Adam Curry: that make sense? She's literally lying and turn
31:33
and turning everything around,
31:35
Unknown: whatever, whatever that I actually think they do want
31:37
you to have more children. And they're just not saying the
31:40
quiet part out loud, necessarily
31:42
Adam Curry: Halston. What is she needs to bring some racism into
31:45
it. Remember, it's white Christian nationalists that
31:47
we're going after we'll get to that,
31:49
Unknown: right, which is multicultural Americans are
31:52
going to become the majority population by 20. By 2050, the
31:57
Hispanic Hispanic Americans are expected to have the most
32:00
population increase of about 6% while the white population is
32:04
expected to decrease by about 11%. At this time, the birth
32:08
rate for white Americans in this country has been falling since
32:12
the great recession. And it's dropped almost 23% between 2007
32:16
and 2022. So
32:17
Adam Curry: what the view has now done is they've taken it
32:19
from rich whities to they you know, they only the rich whities
32:26
want to have babies they don't want to have oh, don't give
32:29
don't give black and brown people access to this crazy
32:32
technology that is brand new apparently. So
32:36
Unknown: but when white women beginning the IVF so that is
32:40
that they why they want IVF but they can't say yes, an embryo
32:48
embryo they they're they're coming out sort of against it
32:52
and not being able to explain why they want to have more
32:57
American white children born because the birth rate has gone
33:01
down. Okay,
33:01
Adam Curry: so that's the views take on it. But what really
33:04
kicked off was this woman from Politico, Heidi pres Bella. And
33:11
she went on MSNBC with Michael Steele is not the guy who used
33:15
to be the the president of the Republican Party.
33:19
John C Dvorak: He used to be the head of the Republican National
33:21
Committee turned Democrat isn't the kind of guy he is is it
33:25
Adam Curry: Greg and Ben she just and she did did exactly
33:29
what her WaPo because this isn't political owned by WaPo.
33:35
John C Dvorak: Slate is
33:36
Adam Curry: owned by Wow. Okay. All right. Well, same overlords
33:39
as far as I'm concerned. She She kicked it all off and got it
33:43
going. And I think she I think she went a bit too far. But it
33:46
was beautiful to see Heidi
33:48
Unknown: you got the new speaker, Mike Dawson who's not
33:52
afraid to wear his Christianity on his SQLI on his sleeve, his
33:55
collar his lapel his head wherever he can wear it. How do
34:00
members react to that? How are they responding to this real
34:04
strong infusion of Christian nationalism into the
34:09
John C Dvorak: lie second, this phony baloney this guy who's
34:12
who's hateful. We had it once head of the Republican National
34:16
Committee once he was booted off he became a Democrat which he
34:19
always was. He was never any good at it. He's This is a lie.
34:24
I've watched enough of Mike Johnson he rarely talks about
34:27
being religious. He is aware of it on his sleeve
34:30
Adam Curry: I won't know but this this is a setup that's been
34:34
planned. We've got a we've got a documentary and we've
34:37
John C Dvorak: got a thesis I'm just pushing back no I love that
34:39
crap. I love that you love it. You hear from these boneheads I
34:44
Adam Curry: love by the way troll room absolutely spot on.
34:46
Meanwhile, white girls are having sex with black men. I
34:49
mean, what are we doing? We all know what's really going on.
34:53
That's fine. This is America. But no, it's really about making
34:57
Trump and his I'm so poor, it's all about Trump. It's all about
35:03
Trump. It's all about Trump. And it's a desperate, desperate
35:07
attempt
35:07
Unknown: a real strong infusion of Christian nationalism into
35:12
the body politic of the house.
35:15
I've talked with a lot of experts on this and I've seen it
35:17
myself with my reporting, Michael, which is the base of
35:20
the Republican Party has shifted, right? Remember when
35:24
Trump ran in 2016? A lot of the mainline evangelicals wanted
35:28
nothing to do with the divorced you know, real estate mogul who
35:33
cheated on his wife and with a porn star and all of that,
35:35
right? No,
35:36
Adam Curry: I don't remember that. Right. What was that
35:39
really ever thing did did did the main line Christians run
35:44
away from Trump? Because? Because he right, because he
35:48
cheated on his wife with a porn star or did you make that up in
35:51
your head lady? That right? That's right. That's the part I
35:57
love the most is like, right when
35:59
Unknown: Trump ran in 2016. A lot of the mainline evangelicals
36:03
wanted nothing to do with the divorced you know, real estate
36:07
mogul who cheated on his wife and with a porn star and all of
36:10
that. Right. Right. So what happened he was surrounded by
36:13
this more extremest. You're gonna hear words like Christian
36:18
nationalism, like the New Apostolic reformation these
36:22
Adam Curry: now this is this is this got my interest in New
36:25
Apostolic reformation. This is something that started in in
36:29
1996, by a professor, Dr. Peter Wagner. And the you know, it's
36:38
not really mainstream anymore did start kind of the
36:43
Charismatics movement, which, you know, if this is what
36:49
they're failing on, they don't have any video of the
36:51
Charismatics in their churches. Because, you know, they're very
36:55
moving around and speaking in tongues and very vocal, and
36:58
they're completely you know, the Holy Spirit is working through
37:01
them. So, this is the cult Angular,
37:04
John C Dvorak: by the way. Well, you just pointed out is a
37:06
weakness. Yes. Because the I don't think they really know
37:10
what they're talking about, probably on any level. No. And
37:13
so if they if they knew what they were talking about that
37:17
that's what they would go get the and you Ryan role of a
37:21
Pentecostal Thursday night or whatever, weird night they do
37:25
this, these jumping around things, talking in tongues and
37:29
just go for it.
37:30
Adam Curry: I mean, we have one guy like that in our church, we
37:32
love him, you know, he'll just like he's like as tourists like,
37:35
Jesus, and, and he's great. But we only have one, you know, but
37:39
so, anyway, so you
37:41
John C Dvorak: have to imagine a church full of them. That's what
37:43
you
37:43
Unknown: need Christian nationalism, like the New
37:45
Apostolic reformation, these are groups that you should get very,
37:50
very schooled on because they have a lot of power in Trump's
37:54
circle. And the one thing that unites they have a lot of power
37:57
in Trump's circle, tell him because there's many different
37:59
groups orbiting Trump, but the thing that we're not unites them
38:01
as Christian nationalists, not Christians, by the way, because
38:05
Christian nationalist is very different. Is that
38:09
Adam Curry: okay, so Christians is very different from Christian
38:12
nationalists. This is this is part of the meme. They're trying
38:15
to not piss off Christians, by saying Christian nationalist is
38:20
very different
38:21
Unknown: unites them as Christian nationalists, not
38:23
Christians, by the way, because Christian nationalist is very
38:26
different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans, as
38:30
all human beings, don't come from any earthly authority. They
38:34
don't come from Congress, they don't come to their Supreme
38:35
Court. They come from God. Okay,
38:37
Adam Curry: newsflash, Heidi. The rights that we have in the
38:43
Bill of Rights, as written or established were not given to us
38:49
by Congress, or by the Constitution. The Bill of Rights
38:53
is a specific denial of things for the government. Then if you
38:58
look at the Declaration of Independence, yes, these were a
39:01
God given rights. And now, but this is the level of knowledge
39:07
of civics amongst this reporting classes
39:10
John C Dvorak: that are they're specifically trying to undermine
39:13
the Constitution both
39:15
Unknown: the problem with that is that they are determining
39:17
man, men. Men are determining what God is telling them. And in
39:23
the past, that so called natural law is, you know, it's a pillar
39:27
of Catholicism. Catholicism, for instance, has been used.
39:30
Adam Curry: Oh, hold on a second. So we talked to our
39:32
lapsed Catholic, is that a pillar of Catholicism? No, I
39:35
John C Dvorak: don't know. For
39:36
Unknown: good and social justice campaigns. Martin Luther King
39:39
evoked it in tos. Yes.
39:41
Adam Curry: You said all men are created equal. That's what
39:43
Martin Luther King said and that and I think Martin Luther King
39:46
said that came from God. But you know, that was Martin Luther
39:49
King. He was better
39:50
Unknown: talking about civil rights, but now you have an
39:52
extremist element of conservative Christians.
39:56
Adam Curry: That word I love extremists, not extremists. He
39:58
loves
39:59
John C Dvorak: that word. Extremis. She says Extremis does
40:01
have extremists which everybody in the world says extremist. But
40:05
she says extremest Why
40:07
Adam Curry: is she doing that? What is the point?
40:10
John C Dvorak: Because he used to get it. It's an attention
40:12
getter as an attention getting a pronunciation mode work ceramist
40:16
Unknown: element of conservative Christians who say that this
40:20
applies specifically to issues including abortion, gay
40:23
marriage, and it's going much further than that, as you see,
40:26
for instance, with a ruling in Alabama, this week that judges
40:29
connected to that Dominionist faction in talking about a lot
40:35
of other issues, including surrogacy IVF you know, sex
40:39
education in schools, is there's a lot in addition,
40:43
Adam Curry: okay, so what she's trying to do here and I think
40:46
she she overshot the mark is she's trying to tie wear, tie
40:50
Dominionism and the New Apostolic. What is it New
40:57
Apostolic is a revolution and eon forgot
41:00
John C Dvorak: what she said. But they're not working, she
41:02
can't do but she can't jumble all these things together like
41:06
that, and hope to get any attention, or get any anybody to
41:10
go along with it. Because she, she's nuts. She doesn't know
41:12
what she's talking about.
41:15
Adam Curry: While she tries to will steal tries to bring her
41:17
back on track, because she needs to, of course, connect this to
41:21
Mike Johnson, the Speaker of your house, you have to
41:23
understand, the whole idea is to tell to tell America, the people
41:29
who want to run this country are crazy.
41:31
Unknown: You know, it's interesting how DSC is these two
41:33
men are trying to carve the GOP into their image. You've got the
41:40
titular head of the party, Donald Trump, who is not a
41:45
paragon of Christian virtue, how do they reconcile that? What is
41:50
Is it just about oh, he got us a Supreme Court? Is it just about
41:55
he advocates for the things that we advocate doesn't matter
41:59
whether or not he himself believes them, or has any type
42:02
of moral connection, or even a theocratic one, given what we're
42:07
saying,
42:08
it really depends on the individual but with let's talk,
42:10
for instance, about his spiritual adviser, Paula White,
42:13
who was a White House employee, she was his spiritual adviser,
42:16
she is connected to this Dominionist movement. And a lot
42:19
of those individuals believe that Trump actually was put here
42:24
by God, he even tweeted this video, you know, that God gave
42:29
us, Trump that he is a serious like, person who is imperfect
42:34
vessel, who is nevertheless here, put on earth to do God's
42:39
work to put
42:39
Adam Curry: it now she's taking that commercial. And she's tying
42:43
it all in. I love the effort
42:46
Unknown: of Christianity back at the center of civic life. And
42:49
you see that manifesting, not just in the course. And we're
42:53
seeing that like with the IVF rolling with the myth of per
42:57
stone ruling now that is making its way to the Supreme Court.
43:00
But with Project 2025, which is an agenda that's being very
43:05
detailed agenda that's going to be offered up to President Trump
43:08
or if he wins a second term, right. And
43:11
Adam Curry: she already knows he's gonna win. Oops. I mean, if
43:16
he wins, I mean, it's easy when President Trump
43:19
Unknown: to to work through HHS, the Department of Human Health
43:23
and Human Services, as well as potentially the FDA that would
43:26
really kind of bypass even the courts and Congress to do things
43:29
like revoke authorization of the abortion pill. And then and this
43:34
is the one that doesn't get enough influence. enough
43:36
attention is the influence or campaign that's taking place.
43:39
Oh,
43:39
Adam Curry: wait, this is the internet. Now we got to bring in
43:42
a Charlie Kirk and turning point USA, because these people are
43:46
crazy. They are paying influencers right
43:48
Unknown: now in the GOP to convince young women to ditch
43:52
hormonal birth control that that they are they are sicker, and
43:56
they are more stressed out being working women and that they
44:00
should embrace being healthier and more natural. And what a
44:04
crazy idea being large families and you know, daycare is not
44:08
good for your kids either. And all of these things actually
44:11
happen at a turning point USA conference for young women
44:15
leaders.
44:15
Adam Curry: Okay, so she really overshot the mark. She went way
44:19
too far, because she was just supposed to tee up some stuff
44:22
and let all the serious media like NPR. Oh, yeah, no and NPR.
44:29
Unknown: elitist voices in America. This is NPR. So
44:34
Adam Curry: when PBS to NPR brings on this guy think Matthew
44:40
Taylor. He's a scholar. He's a scholar with a book and he's
44:44
going to really explain to us what's going on with these crazy
44:48
Christian nationalists Dominionists dominion theology.
44:52
Unknown: The concept was coined by a group of radical Calvinist
44:57
theologians called
44:58
John C Dvorak: for a second Just a little background under the
45:01
Dominionist. slur, yes, it was actually developed and maxed out
45:10
during the George W. Bush administration for anyone who
45:13
wants
45:13
Adam Curry: to always think about is that when they, they
45:15
tried it there. Yeah,
45:17
John C Dvorak: this is when they first came out into Dominionist.
45:20
That's when it really got into the forefront. And there was
45:22
discussion after discussion about what the Dominionists
45:24
want, they want the end of the world, and the end of the world
45:27
is going to take place in Israel. And even though the
45:30
Syrian six is going to take place someplace else, they
45:32
everyone in the Middle East has their own little area where
45:34
Armageddon, of course, but the but the Dominionists believe
45:40
it's in Jerusalem or something like that, I may have a few
45:44
details wrong. But this was going to be the end of the
45:46
world. And that's what everyone was pushing for. Because George
45:49
W. Bush and the Dominionist want to end the world as we know it,
45:52
they want the whole thing to blow up.
45:56
Adam Curry: Sorry, that was that
45:57
John C Dvorak: was the reason for the so it really became a
46:00
big deal. So now they're reintroducing the term and the
46:03
group and the red a lot of people are very serious about
46:06
being Dominionist. I think I heard from a couple of them
46:08
myself. And but it's a it's, it's absolutely one of the most
46:14
fringe of fringe, Christian movements, very fringe, and so
46:20
to bring it up as a mainstream anything is ludicrous, dominion
46:23
Unknown: theology. The concept was coined by a group of radical
46:27
Calvinist theologians called the Christian Reconstructionist. In
46:31
the 1960s, and 1970s. These ideas were very influential in
46:35
the rise of the religious right in the 1980s. It was this
46:38
aggressive style of Christian theology that said, Christians
46:42
need to fulfill what they would talk about as the Dominion
46:45
mandate, take dominion over societies and rule in the name
46:50
of Christ. The main vehicle for this idea in ER circles is
46:54
something called the seventh mountain mandate, that became a
46:57
charismatic rebranding of these Calvinist dominion theology
47:01
ideas that Wagner and his cohort mixed together into the seventh
47:06
mountain mandate.
47:07
And in fact, Justice Parker referred to the seventh mountain
47:11
mandate, in an interview he did with an MA our prophet named
47:17
Johnny and Lo. And it was published the same day as the
47:21
court's decision that embryos count as people.
47:24
Adam Curry: I love this stretch. Because I thought it was going
47:28
to be in the opinion, I got the PDF of the Alabama judges
47:32
opinion, like, oh, there was nothing in there about that. So
47:35
he did an interview with an NAR dude. And it came out the same
47:40
day. And she doesn't say anything just as off handedly.
47:44
Oh, yeah. The seventh mountain mandate, also something I'd
47:47
never heard of before.
47:49
Unknown: So the seven mountain mandate means that you have to
47:54
go into the institutions of government and what else?
48:00
The Seven Mountains are family, religion, education, government,
48:06
arts and entertainment, media, and business or commerce. Oh,
48:11
shit,
48:12
Adam Curry: forgot podcasting. What's wrong with you?
48:15
Unknown: The idea is if you divide up society into these
48:18
seven spheres, as you can rule the world times language you'll
48:22
hear used as well. The idea is that those mountains those those
48:25
spheres of society are either ruled over by demonic forces, or
48:30
by the
48:31
John C Dvorak: entertainment. Well, that's exactly Taylor
48:34
Swift. It's where
48:35
Adam Curry: do we not agree? We gotta agree with that. And
48:37
Unknown: so the goal for Christians is to rise to the top
48:40
of each of the seven mountains in every society and to displace
48:44
the demonic powers through spiritual warfare through
48:47
meanwhile
48:48
Adam Curry: the Jews are going Hey, media, that's our mountain,
48:51
get off our mountain Christian crazy seven
48:53
Unknown: mountains in every society, and to displace the
48:56
demonic powers through spiritual warfare through prophecy, and
49:01
take over conquer the mountains and then let Christian influence
49:06
flow down from the top. So if you think about conventional
49:09
religious right mobilization, it is tended to filter or channel
49:14
conservative Christian indignation into democratic
49:17
means. This is a Vanguard move. This is not a grassroots change
49:22
society. This is taking over positions of power in society.
49:25
Don't get me from the top down.
49:27
Adam Curry: Come on, don't don't give me that. A couple more to
49:30
go. I'm skipping as much as I can, because I can already hear
49:32
you're annoyed.
49:33
John C Dvorak: Well, yeah, what for one thing, I want to back up
49:38
at least once in a while and say, This is so fringe, but it's
49:42
ridiculous. They bring it in as something is actually happening
49:47
at any level. If you go to seventh mountain mandate, and
49:51
Wikipedia, they have this kind of a background emphasis never
49:55
really became caught on until, I guess the 2013 And then it was
50:01
about to seven mountains, not about the other stuff to
50:04
Dominionist and then they have your prominent followers
50:07
Adam Curry: now. Okay,
50:09
John C Dvorak: who do we have? Mike Johnson? Yeah, exactly.
50:14
rafail Cruz, pastor and father of Senator Ted Cruz, you know,
50:19
the guy who tried to kill Kennedy? Paul, a white spiritual
50:24
adviser. Yeah, Trump. Yes. But this is Lauren Bobert. Really?
50:30
Adam Curry: All right. So but but now we have to take this and
50:33
we've got to connect it to the
50:36
John C Dvorak: right, they actually want to stop again.
50:38
This is a site this is bought. This is a setup. This was I'm
50:41
going to look into the target. This has recently been been
50:45
added.
50:45
Adam Curry: Oh, yeah. This Oh, I totally agree. The seven
50:48
mountain mandate Wikipedia page has been updated recently. Look
50:51
at the look at the edits. Yeah, looking now. Okay, so then he
50:56
goes into separation of church and state, which I'm going to
50:59
skip that one. But what we need to do we need to, we need to
51:03
connect these crazy people, these crazy Dominionist, seven
51:07
mountain charismatic nut jobs, also known as Christian
51:13
nationalists, to January 6,
51:16
Unknown: but how much of this rhetoric is metaphorical? I
51:20
mean, are we talking about real demons? When they talk about
51:24
picking up weapons? Are they talking about real weapons?
51:29
They would say it's not metaphorical. They believe the
51:31
demons are real. But they would say they are only talking about
51:34
spiritual warfare. No challenges. If you go and listen
51:37
to their rhetoric, it is incredibly violent, violent,
51:40
they're pointing at actual people, pointing at the
51:44
Democratic Party pointing at disloyal Republicans as they
51:47
view them, and saying, Those people are not actually
51:50
responsible for their actions because they are being
51:53
orchestrated by demons. And we need to fight the demons. And
51:57
this literal demonization of their enemies is one of the
52:01
major contributing factors to the chaos on January 6, they are
52:06
pointing at them and saying that building is infested with
52:09
demons, we need to fight the demons. I did
52:12
Adam Curry: not hear those chants. On January 6, I haven't
52:15
seen that footage. And it's only
52:17
Unknown: a matter of time. If you keep doing that before
52:19
someone says, Yeah, we need to fight against those people. So
52:22
that they are leaders are careful, they know where the
52:25
line is between truly irresponsible speech that could
52:30
get you in legal trouble. None of them have been prosecuted or
52:33
even face any legal consequences for their role in January 6.
52:36
They know that what is protected by free speech, and they walk
52:40
right up to that line. But they're always careful not to
52:42
cross it.
52:43
Adam Curry: I'm not sure what he means with that bit at all. But
52:47
his job here with his book, and there's a couple books out, is
52:51
to connect the Trump backing from Christian nationalists to
52:56
January 6. And all of this is of course, a setup to a wonderful
53:00
documentary called God and country, which is produced by
53:04
none other than Rob Reiner, because he is the final hope for
53:09
the Democrats, the final hope to get rid of Trump by telling
53:13
everybody the truth, we
53:15
Unknown: have a new project that I also want to make sure people
53:17
know about your documentary, God and country, which looks at this
53:20
issue of Christian nationalism, we have a little bit of it.
53:23
Let's take a look. Christian
53:24
John C Dvorak: nationalism uses Christianity as a means to an
53:28
end. In being some form of authoritarianism. Being a
53:34
Christian is
53:36
Unknown: about the values of inclusion, Christian
53:39
nationalism, it's certainly not based on the values of the
53:42
gospel. God
53:44
wants America to be saved.
53:48
They're told over and over and over again, that you're in
53:50
danger. You
53:51
Adam Curry: need to fight if you don't want to lose your country,
53:53
we are in a civil war. And now, what's being said here is the is
53:59
true, absolutely. The Christians are always talking about we
54:03
don't want to lose our country and the demons and all that, but
54:05
there's overlaying January 6 footage, as only Rob Reiner
54:09
could do,
54:10
Unknown: we'll show you in the documentary. And by the way,
54:13
there are very conservative Christian evangelicals, pastors,
54:18
very respected people in the in the Christian community that are
54:22
frightened of this Christian nationalist movement, because
54:24
it's not They not only frightened about it hurting
54:29
democracy, but Christianity itself. And we show in the film
54:33
that this movement was the foundation for January 6, moving
54:38
elements that made January 6, and the insurrection happened.
54:41
And now we have a speaker of the House who is an avowed Christian
54:45
nationalists even says that the the teachings of the Bible and
54:51
what he believes that whenever he believes God's will is
54:54
overtakes the Constitution and that all decisions have to be
54:58
made based on his thinking. So, we have this now in inculcated
55:03
in our government. And Donald Trump is more than happy to be
55:08
there mouth. And we see this, this connection, and it's
55:12
brought out in the film. And it's very scary because it's
55:15
very possibility. We talked about it in the film scared that
55:18
we could slip into an autocracy very easily. You hear this all
55:23
the time and
55:25
John C Dvorak: say, what any minute,
55:26
Unknown: any minute on many other shows that the fight right
55:29
now is between whether or not we preserve our democracy, or we
55:33
slip into a theocratic autocracy. This movement wants,
55:38
they believe that this is a white Christian nation. That's
55:42
what it should be. And that's what we bring out in the film.
55:45
And they're not only poisoning the democracy, they're also
55:49
poisoning Christianity.
55:51
John C Dvorak: Oh, shoot. Oh, yes. Here's the real irony. And
55:56
the big disappointment here. Rob Reiner is a direct I used to be
56:01
a really good director for fictional product. He wasn't
56:06
he's not a documentarian. The Democrats lost their guy,
56:10
Michael Moore, when he did his documentary on the scam of
56:16
climate change. And they just he was just eliminated from the
56:21
picture. Where's Michael Moore this this go around when he's
56:24
usually does the kind of documentaries that now they have
56:28
to pass it off to Rob Reiner. Yeah, who's not a documentarian.
56:32
It doesn't know what he's doing? Well,
56:33
Adam Curry: he produced it. A guy named Dan Pat land is the
56:38
director. I'm not familiar with him. And I have a clip of them
56:44
both in a minute. But I just wanted to give a little, a
56:48
little palate refresher here with joy Reed
56:51
Unknown: Johnson is so far out there that even other
56:53
Republicans are pushing back on the God talk. But this is why we
56:56
need to be very concerned. Mike Johnson has the conviction, the
56:59
motivation, and now the opportunity to steal the next
57:03
election for Donald Trump. He is a far right wing evangelical
57:07
Christian who suggested his election his house speaker was
57:10
ordained literally by God even billing himself as a modern day,
57:15
Moses.
57:16
Adam Curry: I don't I don't remember that.
57:19
John C Dvorak: I don't remember that either. But does that is
57:21
that different than every black football player in the world
57:25
thanking God and Jesus after the game when they win? Oh, how
57:29
about
57:31
Adam Curry: how about the Grammys? Thank you for God gave
57:33
me the Liberty grant.
57:33
John C Dvorak: Well, yeah, you can only do that so far. Taylor
57:36
Swift is gonna get mad. But oh,
57:39
Adam Curry: here comes your kicker. So
57:42
Unknown: if God tells him to steal a few elections to make
57:44
Trump president what you're gonna do? And then what happens
57:47
if God tells him to make Trump president for life? Oh,
57:51
Adam Curry: yeah. Okay.
57:52
John C Dvorak: All right. This is she she's gonna burn in hell.
57:57
Let's face it. Okay, so
57:59
Adam Curry: I only have three more clips, and then I'll stop.
58:01
I could play 20 more because I find it fascinating to
58:04
John C Dvorak: do a whole show. We do a special once you do a
58:06
special.
58:08
Adam Curry: A special. Yeah. Do you remember? Okay, maybe I'll
58:12
do a special what what should I call it? Oh, by the way. We were
58:16
looking for like a genocide Joe name for Hillary. We got
58:20
Holocaust, Hillary. It writes itself. I can't believe that we
58:24
didn't come up with it. So we did now Do you remember Laura
58:27
Flanders?
58:29
John C Dvorak: Course she still has a show? Did you know that?
58:32
Adam Curry: I didn't. I didn't know she had a TV podcast a show
58:35
John C Dvorak: a podcast show does she has a she does show
58:38
that goes over the air.
58:39
Adam Curry: So this was a podcast. Okay, well, I
58:42
John C Dvorak: think her podcast is the same show. Well,
58:45
Adam Curry: Laura Flanders had Rob Reiner. And all
58:49
John C Dvorak: those two together just like and Dan price
58:51
it and it
58:52
Adam Curry: really is surprised because there were some
58:54
revelations in here. So Briner produce the movie, the movie, I
58:59
say with the big name the documentary, Dan Petland is the
59:02
director. Well,
59:03
Unknown: then this top class of ambassadors.
59:06
Adam Curry: So what he's doing here, he's going to, he has a
59:08
chart and he says, Hold
59:10
John C Dvorak: on a second. How come he's going around that what
59:13
producer to you know, and we have a few that work on our
59:16
show. Go around to promote, usually the director or the main
59:21
character is usually it's not the producer nests. And this is
59:24
producer director that goes around promoting the movie
59:28
unless they did it. But
59:29
Adam Curry: because they're desperate, there's nothing left
59:32
to do. But now just go straight to religion, which is one of the
59:36
most unAmerican things I could think of, to be honest, to go
59:40
after religion and then you know, couch it in all it's just
59:43
some fringe group and they're all behind Trump. In the Dan,
59:48
Dan guy, he's dumb because he says things that are stupid. So
59:52
he, he has this chart that she puts up on the screen, and he
59:56
shows that 1/3 of America is is really Christian, they're, you
1:00:02
know, they're just Christian. They they believe in God and
1:00:04
Jesus Christ. And then there's another third in the middle. And
1:00:08
they might be, maybe we can sway them. But he has to admit that
1:00:12
two thirds of America is just kind of believes in Jesus Christ
1:00:15
and God. But so and he says, But you know, this movie, this movie
1:00:20
that he made, is to convince that 1/3 in the middle to flip,
1:00:24
I guess, away from Jesus,
1:00:26
Unknown: well, then this top class wrestlers, those are
1:00:30
probably most of the people we're talking about when we say
1:00:33
Christian nationalists, this may be as much as 20% of the
1:00:37
population. Okay, that's a huge, huge number 20%, who have deeply
1:00:42
held beliefs that the United States is adopting again,
1:00:47
John C Dvorak: I'm listening to this, and I can't tell if it's
1:00:50
Rob Reiner speaking in a lower register, or is it Laura
1:00:53
speaking, I can't tell,
1:00:55
Adam Curry: well, it's Petland. It's the damn guy. Oh,
1:00:58
Unknown: it's the other guy. He sounds like a combination of the
1:01:01
2%, who have deeply held beliefs that the United States is and
1:01:05
should be officially a Christian nation and are looking to write
1:01:09
that into law. That's the population that we have to be
1:01:12
worried about. But what makes it so difficult to address is that
1:01:17
when you consider the next tear, people you'd call accommodators,
1:01:21
of Christian nationalism, or even resistors. Now you're
1:01:24
talking about, really, almost two thirds to three quarters of
1:01:28
the country have at least some bit of Christian nationalist
1:01:32
belief. And some of that is fine. Of course, this is
1:01:35
basically a Christian nation, there's a background of
1:01:37
Christianity and throughout the, you know, the history of this
1:01:40
republic, sort of benign ways that it starts, which is just
1:01:44
recognizing that there's a lot of Christian people here quickly
1:01:48
becomes a slippery slope, with this casual language of WoW, but
1:01:52
the United States is basically a Christian nation. Well, what
1:01:54
does that mean? What does that mean? And I think what we have
1:01:57
to do is we have to draw that bright line, again, between the
1:02:00
separation of church and state, which is a foundational American
1:02:04
principle, which I cannot believe in the year 2024 is
1:02:08
becoming fuzzy to people.
1:02:09
Adam Curry: So what they're trying to say is that the
1:02:11
separation of church and state, which is which they all point to
1:02:16
the First Amendment, where the First Amendment says, the
1:02:20
government shall make no religion, official religion
1:02:22
cannot block a religion, of course, did matter, because the
1:02:26
church is closed anyway, when they were told, Oh, scary COVID.
1:02:29
But what they're trying to do is turn it around a little bit and
1:02:32
say, Hey, these Christians, they can't be making laws based on
1:02:35
what they believe. And there is something called the lemon test,
1:02:40
I believe, which could be used to stop lawmakers. But in
1:02:44
general, if you're a Marxist or socialist, you make and we have,
1:02:48
we have lots of socialist based laws and Marxist based laws. But
1:02:53
they're very afraid that the crazy Christian nationalists are
1:02:57
going to take hold, and they're going to make all the laws based
1:03:00
upon what God told them.
1:03:02
Unknown: Well, one of the things I learned that I didn't know
1:03:04
before of Robert from the film was just how recent it is that
1:03:08
the word God appears on all coins and the Pledge of
1:03:10
Allegiance. Well,
1:03:11
I was in school, actually, in 1954, when they added under God
1:03:17
in the Pledge of Allegiance. Yes. And you know
1:03:19
Adam Curry: why they did that? Was this true? In 1954,
1:03:24
President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words under
1:03:28
God, because of commies like you. They were afraid of
1:03:35
communists taken over our country and using our Pledge of
1:03:39
Allegiance as a communist mantra. So the added, God
1:03:43
Unknown: used to be one nation, indivisible, then it became one
1:03:46
nation under God, indivisible. And I remember when that
1:03:48
happened, because we gave that pledge every morning and in
1:03:51
school. So it you know, it really started happening around
1:03:55
then. And we've seen it grow over time, but the question you
1:03:59
asked, which is how do you undo it? And the way in which you
1:04:03
undo it is do it not, you know, you're never gonna get that hard
1:04:07
core group of people that just believe it, and you can't
1:04:11
convince them. It's those others those other layers that Dan
1:04:15
talked about, if you can get to those people to understand make
1:04:18
them understand that this is destroying their their faith in
1:04:24
a way that's it's undermining their faith. That's the way in
1:04:28
which I think you can undo it and then because
1:04:31
Adam Curry: these crazy Christian nationalists are
1:04:34
really hurting Jesus,
1:04:36
Unknown: there's all kinds of you know, pie in the sky kind of
1:04:40
things like getting rid of the Electoral College and things
1:04:43
like that, which would actually make it more democratic majority
1:04:46
will. We are we
1:04:48
enlightened, really majority get rid of it high in the sky, but
1:04:51
Adam Curry: if we really want to get rid of it rule
1:04:53
Unknown: in the country, there are a lot of safeguards for the
1:04:56
minority to make sure that they're not, you know, run rough
1:05:00
John yes over, you know, my Bible electoral college,
1:05:03
Adam Curry: he wants to get rid of it. It's pie in the sky. It's
1:05:05
like a dream is what he means by that. It's a dream to get rid of
1:05:08
that. We'll work on that already.
1:05:10
Unknown: But when when that minority gets too much power,
1:05:14
then they're running roughshod over the vast majority. That's
1:05:19
what you have to wrestle with. And that's our it's, it's
1:05:22
interesting to understand how it works.
1:05:26
Adam Curry: Alright, so final clip, Rob Reiner. I thought he
1:05:30
was Jewish. He was born Jewish into a Jewish family.
1:05:34
John C Dvorak: But we have an atheist. Oh, no,
1:05:38
Adam Curry: we have a lot to learn about. Ron Reiner's
1:05:41
religious beliefs
1:05:43
John C Dvorak: become a Buddhist
1:05:44
Unknown: Oh, from you've got on a journey yourself. You've
1:05:47
talked about in the context of this film. Even
1:05:50
though I am Jewish, I was not raised that way. But when in a
1:05:53
time in my life, when I was going through the worst period
1:05:56
of soul searching, I read everything I read Buddhism, and
1:06:02
you know, books about Christianity and Hinduism, I
1:06:06
read everything. And what I came around thinking is the, if you
1:06:11
look at the core teachings of Jesus, that makes the most sense
1:06:16
and made the most sense to me, the idea of, you know, do unto
1:06:21
others, it's, and there's a reason why it's called the
1:06:23
golden rule. Because if you can live by that, everything else
1:06:29
falls into place. You don't need the 10 commandments, you don't
1:06:32
need a lot if you just live by that rule. And then I look at
1:06:36
the film, and I look at what's happened in this country. And it
1:06:39
seems like we've come so far from those teachings.
1:06:43
Adam Curry: Okay, so just to review, he writes, he read some
1:06:46
books about Christianity, he didn't read the Bible, we read
1:06:49
some books about him. And he says, you know, the teachings of
1:06:52
Jesus Do unto others, which I think he's referring to the
1:06:55
sermon on the mount the Beatitudes, which are a little
1:06:57
bit more than that, but if you are a masochist, like he is, do
1:07:02
unto others. I think he loves that. Yeah, let me let me be
1:07:05
mean and hateful and spiteful, and extremely hateful this guy,
1:07:10
and he wants that to be done to him, then that's his golden
1:07:13
rule. That's his entire takeaway from Hinduism, Buddhism, some
1:07:17
books about Christianity, and being born a Jew, is please be
1:07:22
as mean to me as I am to you. This guy, this guy is sinful.
1:07:26
That's what he is. So you
1:07:30
John C Dvorak: can look for us a long way. You got a shaggy dog
1:07:33
story with that? Well,
1:07:36
Adam Curry: I mean, I have so it's like PBS. Everyone was
1:07:39
rolling it out. It was insane. And this is what I think is
1:07:44
gonna happen. These people are so stupid. They're actually
1:07:47
going to create revival in America.
1:07:50
John C Dvorak: That's overdue. It's a cycle. Yeah. It is.
1:07:53
overdue. Studying this one was, wasn't
1:07:57
Adam Curry: a glace, wasn't it? Late 60s, late 60s, early 70s.
1:08:00
We had a war going on. But everybody liked
1:08:03
John C Dvorak: not unlike in the 1800s. It was a real revival.
1:08:07
Adam Curry: 1800s tell me I don't remember some tremendous,
1:08:10
John C Dvorak: like a decade of revivalism that was just out of
1:08:13
control. We have seen nothing like that in our lifetimes.
1:08:17
Adam Curry: Do you think it's a cycle and we're overdue out
1:08:19
these shorts on? I think it's a cycle and we're overdue. It's
1:08:22
the Jesus oppas coming?
1:08:25
John C Dvorak: Well, I don't know. If the CIA gets its act
1:08:28
together, maybe. But so I'm not seeing.
1:08:32
Adam Curry: I think they are so desperate. This is the last
1:08:35
thing they can do. Let's connect it to Trump. Let's connect it to
1:08:39
January 6. Let's bring in Rob Reiner. I mean, that says
1:08:43
desperation right there. And I think you're right. We're
1:08:46
overdue. It's a backfire. We're going to have a revival and I
1:08:51
look forward to it.
1:08:52
John C Dvorak: I look at this slightly different than you do.
1:08:54
Okay. I think this is just laying the groundwork for
1:08:57
excuses how Trump lost the election to Biden, when they
1:09:01
when they go through the same process of rigging the election,
1:09:04
like they did last time. It was done with mail in ballots, which
1:09:09
is gonna be much more difficult to pull off this time. And
1:09:13
you're gonna sit and when it happens, you say, Well, you
1:09:15
know, Trump says he got stolen. But in fact, and then it goes
1:09:20
through the same thing you just did. And these are the reasons
1:09:23
he lost.
1:09:24
Adam Curry: Oh, you so yours. Wait a minute, how does that
1:09:26
work with our thesis that the Democrats want Trump to win?
1:09:30
John C Dvorak: I think in fact, I, well, it goes this, the two
1:09:33
things can be true at the same time. I think the smart
1:09:37
Democrats do want Trump to win. And because they know that
1:09:42
things are going to be so screwed up. They may be out of
1:09:44
office for a long time if Biden stays in for another four years,
1:09:48
and that's the smart money. But Biden's people that got him in
1:09:54
the first time, which seems to be like a locomotive out of
1:09:57
control, which is basically the Obama administration. No You
1:10:00
know they're they don't think that way
1:10:03
Adam Curry: well I mean I I don't see how it just can't
1:10:08
happen now it's like I mean we're there yet unless there's
1:10:13
unless they cheat better than the Republicans the Republicans
1:10:16
will be ready though.
1:10:17
John C Dvorak: Now the Republicans should be able to
1:10:18
cheat Yeah, it should hold their own doing it. I don't I've never
1:10:24
thought the Republicans were as good at it as the Democrats just
1:10:27
for example, Washington State all mail in ballots all Republic
1:10:32
all Democrats and really bad Democrats. Lousy ones like
1:10:36
insolently California. Absentee ballots are way to go most
1:10:41
people do that. And then there's also other notorious rigging
1:10:44
mechanisms in the
1:10:47
Adam Curry: cracy man it's democracy democracy I would love
1:10:53
to switch gears to this fake Moon Landing if and I see you
1:10:57
have a three by three so I'd be excited to do that if your game
1:11:03
John C Dvorak: yeah, I want to do this yeah, let's do the moon
1:11:06
landing. I got a three by three here that I want to start it
1:11:08
well, you played the jingle and
1:11:11
Adam Curry: three by three Hello, everybody. By JC day Yes,
1:11:15
we got a bearing story from ABC
1:11:23
over 50 years to get back to the moon, everybody and boy was it a
1:11:26
doozy? Are you waiting for the video standby John's got a three
1:11:30
by three to see how the Big Three news networks news shows
1:11:34
covered it.
1:11:35
John C Dvorak: We'll start with the top network for people who
1:11:37
watch news on TV ABC. It's
1:11:41
Unknown: a mission with major implications the first American
1:11:44
spacecraft to land on the moon in more than 50 years.
1:11:47
Separation confirmed the lunar lander Odysseus nicknamed od
1:11:51
built by Houston base intuitive machines blasting off a week ago
1:11:55
on a SpaceX Falcon nine rocket traveling a quarter of a million
1:11:59
miles to the moon od carrying instruments that will gather
1:12:02
information about the lunar surface ahead of NASA's Artemis
1:12:06
mission to the moon in 2026. With humans on bull Americans
1:12:11
first landed on the moon on Apollo 11. In 1969, we will be
1:12:15
here
1:12:17
from now on
1:12:18
or what will be truly a historic time for man
1:12:29
the last time back in 1972 On Apollo 17. Now OTS mission sets
1:12:34
into motion a new beginning and exploring the moon and the
1:12:37
universe. That self pool The Dark Side of the Moon has water
1:12:41
and ice which is critical if we want to use the moon as a home
1:12:45
base to one day explore Mars and beyond the
1:12:48
moon has 1/6 the gravity of earth and no atmosphere. So it's
1:12:52
a much easier place to launch deeper into the solar system. It
1:12:55
really is the launching pad into human exploration out into deep
1:13:00
space.
1:13:02
And David we have just received confirmation od has made it to
1:13:06
the lunar surface at that South Pole that critical South Pole
1:13:10
where there is water and ice. So od has officially landed on the
1:13:14
moon
1:13:15
Adam Curry: by MIT. I thought that it was going to find out if
1:13:18
there was water and yes and
1:13:19
John C Dvorak: I'm thinking and how do they know there's water
1:13:22
and ice if it's winter to see if there's water and ice because
1:13:25
they
1:13:25
Adam Curry: had a camera for the landing. Oh, I'm sorry, they
1:13:28
didn't. It's so crazy. It's so crazy when you see the old
1:13:32
footage almost as old as I am. of you know driving the dune
1:13:36
buggy playing golf about bounced around golf but we can't seem to
1:13:42
have an actual video of the landing of this thing which
1:13:46
looks like something that Adam and John could have put together
1:13:48
in our garage with some tin foil and some broom handles well was
1:13:53
John C Dvorak: put together in Texas So my understanding is
1:13:58
that it actually did come down and it's kind of fell over. So
1:14:04
now it's on its side and it doesn't have any mechanisms to
1:14:08
upright itself. It's not like you know one of those like a
1:14:11
It's not like a like a cheap toy he used to be able to buy at
1:14:15
Toys R Us at whatever the kid did. It would slip itself back
1:14:18
to normal. Like they can't even come up with that that
1:14:20
technology is old is with toys to have it flips over his back
1:14:24
back standing up
1:14:25
Adam Curry: basically sand in the bottom of the big. The big
1:14:28
clown you could hit and it was read write itself. Nice. How
1:14:32
about training wheels?
1:14:34
John C Dvorak: Let's go with Tom Costello and NBC.
1:14:38
Unknown: Leave it to a 14 foot robot named Odysseus to stick
1:14:42
the first US Moon Landing since Apollo stick the landing.
1:14:48
Adam Curry: Are you kidding me? Stick the landing. I mean that's
1:14:52
that's a term with a plane. I can't believe these people are
1:14:56
doing what we
1:14:56
Unknown: can confirm. Without a doubt because our equipment is
1:15:00
On the surface of a man
1:15:01
Houston based intuitive machines now
1:15:06
Adam Curry: does not sticking the landing at all we
1:15:08
John C Dvorak: can confirm it's on the moon if it crashed landed
1:15:11
in blue until the million pieces you could say the same thing.
1:15:14
Unknown: Apollo, we can confirm. Without a doubt
1:15:18
Adam Curry: right there without a doubt that to me is the lie.
1:15:21
Without a doubt. He's got doubt without
1:15:23
Unknown: a doubt because our equipment is on the surface of
1:15:26
him in Houston
1:15:27
based intuitive machines now the first private company to
1:15:30
successfully land on the moon Houston
1:15:34
Odysseus has found his new home.
1:15:38
But now troubleshooting a communications issue and with
1:15:44
one lunar lander this yes launched on a SpaceX rocket just
1:15:49
seven days ago sending back spectacular photos of earth as
1:15:53
it rocketed towards the lunar South Pole on board six
1:15:57
Adam Curry: Nova spectacular pictures of Earth all Did you
1:16:01
see the one picture I've seen from this thing? Wasn't even
1:16:05
earth it was like a round metal ball was somehow some snow on
1:16:11
it. I mean, did you see this picture? No, it's very it's
1:16:15
very, very weird the
1:16:17
Unknown: back spectacular photos of earth as it rocketed towards
1:16:20
the lunar South Pole. On board six NASA experiments. The ice
1:16:25
water on the pole makes up NASA's target zone when
1:16:28
astronauts return in just a few years. Now they're
1:16:31
Adam Curry: also saying ice water. They're just saying as if
1:16:35
it's that I'm confused. The top two networks so far have said
1:16:41
that there is water on the moon. Even though this fallen, this
1:16:44
tipped over thing is supposed to find out if there's water on the
1:16:48
moon. This is good.
1:16:49
Unknown: This is the south pole of the moon. That's correct. In
1:16:52
a NASA simulator, we saw the hostile conditions they'll have
1:16:55
to navigate the sun hanging very low on the horizon. Those
1:17:00
shadows are so long to cut costs, NASA has hired 14 private
1:17:05
companies to run advanced experiments on the moon, though
1:17:09
many could fail. It's really
1:17:10
really difficult to land on the moon, air or slow you down. So
1:17:15
you can't use parachutes, the
1:17:16
Odysseus lander will only have 12 to 13 days before its solar
1:17:20
power runs out. But tonight, just getting there is mission
1:17:24
accomplished. You know,
1:17:26
Adam Curry: what I love about this is that everyone's coming
1:17:29
to my side of the argument never landed there. It's so obvious
1:17:33
now. I mean, people who are all in on they love mosques that
1:17:37
love space travel. They're looking at this and going. Yeah,
1:17:41
it can't be that we have this is it's really, really hard.
1:17:44
There's, you know, it's tough to land on the moon. But how did we
1:17:47
do it? 50 years ago? Yeah, that wasn't real. That was you know,
1:17:50
those kinds of the Russians. It's amazing. It's,
1:17:55
John C Dvorak: I still think that the image of comparing this
1:17:58
this little piece of crap and it fell over, compared to the
1:18:02
driving around in a dune buggy, playing golf, playing golf. Golf
1:18:08
is like a kind of a contrast. But you never know it's
1:18:14
possible. That's when Wernher von Braun was alive. Yeah. So
1:18:17
let's go to the CIA's best outlet and see what they have to
1:18:23
say.
1:18:23
Unknown: Tonight, the Odyssey of Odysseus has ended on the moon,
1:18:27
the first American made spacecraft kicking up lunar dust
1:18:30
in more than a half century, as
1:18:32
our equipment is on the surface of the moon.
1:18:35
Mission Control of intuitive machines in Houston
1:18:38
Adam Curry: also, this this mission control was dorky, like
1:18:46
a bunch of nerds in a round room. I mean, it didn't have a
1:18:49
cool look and have a mission controller guy, you know,
1:18:52
standing there like chewing on a cigar. We're sitting, we're
1:18:57
sticking the landing boys now. None of that. They know like,
1:19:01
oh, yeah, we did it. Yeah, what's the first
1:19:04
Unknown: commercial Moon Landing ever? The final descent from 18
1:19:10
miles above the lunar surface, a continuous engine burn for 10
1:19:14
minutes by touchdown. Odysseus had slowed to two miles per
1:19:18
hour. This is the assembly room. Intuitive co founder Steve
1:19:22
ultimus showed us the historic moon lander up close last year
1:19:25
in Houston. By the
1:19:26
Adam Curry: way that's incorrect. The two miles per
1:19:28
hour but I have a clip to prove that after the three by three,
1:19:31
his
1:19:31
Unknown: company envisions a $100 billion lunar market.
1:19:35
We're delivering scientific payloads engineering
1:19:37
demonstration payloads but not the humans themselves.
1:19:40
And you believe the moon is the next economic frontier. The
1:19:44
moon is certainly that next step for space exploration. Odysseus
1:19:49
landed near the lunar South Pole carrying less than 300 pounds of
1:19:53
cargo, including six instruments for NASA and intuitive customer.
1:19:57
The space agency hopes to have astronauts moonwalking bear by
1:20:01
the end of the decade walk some critters, they're never seen
1:20:04
light so cold, they may contain ice. And water is critical to
1:20:09
long term space exploration.
1:20:11
NASA plans to basically hire these companies to send payloads
1:20:15
to the moon, like like you'd call an Uber or Lyft. But these
1:20:18
companies have to make it work first. And that's what we're
1:20:20
seeing today.
1:20:23
Not since the end of the Apollo era has an American lander park
1:20:26
itself on the surface of the moon. This mission will last
1:20:29
roughly a week until lunar night freezes the solar batteries. Oh,
1:20:34
Adam Curry: and so they want the thing is just dead in a week.
1:20:38
Oh, man so here is this is so stupid
1:20:42
John C Dvorak: maybe dead now for all we know. Yeah. Well,
1:20:45
listen, by the way that report from CBS did not did the right
1:20:48
thing about the water.
1:20:49
Adam Curry: Yeah, but they lied about the
1:20:51
Unknown: speed we think we came down with like I said about six
1:20:55
miles an hour this way. And about two miles an hour this way
1:20:59
and caught a foot in the surface and and the lander has tipped
1:21:04
like we
1:21:05
Adam Curry: think he doesn't even know they don't have to
1:21:07
help telemetry on this thing. That the simplest, the sieve the
1:21:12
absolute simplest gadget in an airplane can tell you if you're
1:21:17
flying on your side or upside down. But we think we think we
1:21:20
are foot caught on you know, maybe it was like a rock or
1:21:26
something and that we tipped over
1:21:27
Unknown: the surface and and the lander has tipped like this. And
1:21:31
we believe this is the surface the orientation of the lander on
1:21:35
the moon doesn't
1:21:36
Adam Curry: even know the actual orientation, which I think is to
1:21:39
spirit.
1:21:42
Unknown: And nearly 24 hours later Scientists say the lander
1:21:45
is still stable and they do have communication with it. The sun
1:21:48
is charging all the batteries on board. Wait
1:21:51
Adam Curry: a minute, is the Dark Side of the Moon?
1:21:55
John C Dvorak: No, they they've mentioned that that's at the
1:21:57
point where the sun is just glimpsing over the horizon. Oh,
1:22:03
Adam Curry: like a good little use. I believe it right away I
1:22:08
believe all of this urging
1:22:09
Unknown: all of the batteries on board. Now keep in mind they
1:22:12
have not seen any images from the lander at this point and are
1:22:15
relying simply on data and code to really understand what is
1:22:19
happening with the lander on the moon. We did talk about pictures
1:22:22
from the surface. The scientists say we could possibly see some
1:22:26
images later this weekend. But at this time, scientists are not
1:22:30
commenting on whether or not any of the payloads on board could
1:22:33
be in jeopardy if this lander is in fact on its side.
1:22:36
Adam Curry: They don't even know if it's on his side. I have one
1:22:40
more report. This will make it a three by three plus one. This is
1:22:43
from Andersen 360 Kristin tell us what's really going on with
1:22:46
this moon landing.
1:22:47
Unknown: The first time a private company has ever done
1:22:49
this. The first time an American made spacecraft has done this
1:22:53
since 1972. And Anderson it's the first time that any
1:22:56
spacecraft has touched down on the south pole of the moon a
1:23:00
critical spot. They think that's where ice is water. It's where
1:23:04
NASA wants to build a lunar base for Artemis astronauts, the
1:23:08
first astronauts to return to the moon since the Apollo
1:23:11
program, and it's where China wants to build a base as well.
1:23:14
Dr. Anderson's real nail biting moments administrator described
1:23:19
it as an Apollo 13 moment with no humans on board, of course,
1:23:22
because of some of the technical issues they had to troubleshoot.
1:23:25
John C Dvorak: Yeah, what happened? I mean, up until the
1:23:26
last second the difficulties Oh, yeah, yeah,
1:23:29
Unknown: Anderson, It's so wild. I mean, they really fixing on
1:23:31
the fly, they had an issue. You know how radar works Radar
1:23:35
Radar, it sends out a radio signal, which then bounces off
1:23:39
an object, which lets you tell how far away you are from it.
1:23:42
Well, this is LIDAR laser, instead of radio waves, light
1:23:46
waves bouncing off of it. And that's what the spacecraft this
1:23:49
robotic uncrewed spacecraft uses to find a safe landing spot
1:23:53
because the moon has, you know, craters and boulders all over
1:23:56
it. There was a problem with intuitive machines is LIDAR
1:24:00
navigation system. And so it just so happened that NASA had
1:24:04
an experimental LIDAR payload.
1:24:07
Adam Curry: I loved a little laugh in there. So just so
1:24:10
happened. The problem
1:24:11
Unknown: with intuitive machines is LIDAR navigation system. And
1:24:15
so it just so happened that NASA had an experimental LIDAR
1:24:20
payload on the lander as well. They were somehow able to patch
1:24:26
it through to the lunar lander Odysseus and that experimental
1:24:30
experimental NASA navigation system Lidar is what they were
1:24:35
able to use to get this on the surface of the moon so pretty
1:24:40
incredible that they were able to pull it off but now we want
1:24:44
to see the pictures Anderson, right.
1:24:46
Adam Curry: Yeah, we do right in time for the boys get to work.
1:24:50
Can
1:24:50
John C Dvorak: someone explain it was somebody asked? They
1:24:52
won't even bother to ask why they're using LIDAR instead of
1:24:56
radar.
1:24:57
Adam Curry: Because it's LIDAR li EDA our LIDAR.
1:25:02
John C Dvorak: Lidar, is it show title? LIDAR?
1:25:06
Adam Curry: I'm writing it down.
1:25:07
John C Dvorak: Write it down. Write it down.
1:25:08
Adam Curry: LIDAR. I like that a lot. Oh, it's it's also it's
1:25:14
also a bunch.
1:25:16
John C Dvorak: That's just a, let's just call it what it is.
1:25:18
How
1:25:18
Adam Curry: about how about it being a
1:25:20
John C Dvorak: rock fell over and that can't get up. I fallen
1:25:23
and I can't get up. Well, too bad.
1:25:26
Adam Curry: Let's just say none of its true. I'm just I'm not
1:25:29
believing it. And what is this outfit? What is this intuitive
1:25:33
machines? Where's the CEO? look him up. look
1:25:37
John C Dvorak: him up there in a wiki page.
1:25:40
Adam Curry: Wiki page, but how about now how about a page on
1:25:44
them? Intuitive machines. It's an American Express Company
1:25:48
really? Were the investors let me see you the different
1:25:52
company? No, no, no, no, no. And Houston. We open access to the
1:25:58
moon for the progress of
1:26:00
John C Dvorak: humanity. Yeah. Oh, they're American Express
1:26:03
Company.
1:26:03
Adam Curry: They're on NASDAQ. Their public company. L U N. R
1:26:08
is the ticker symbol. Lunar Yes. Founded in 2013. They've had
1:26:14
three NASA lunar missions. I love this years of executive
1:26:19
aerospace experience. 250 years of experience if you kind of all
1:26:25
the old dudes who must be working there.
1:26:27
John C Dvorak: Yeah, of course.
1:26:30
Adam Curry: So was this a SPAC this this smells of a SPAC? I
1:26:35
have no idea. Well, I think we should short it.
1:26:41
John C Dvorak: No one who's ever made money coming in? I don't
1:26:43
think so. Wow.
1:26:45
Adam Curry: Yeah. I thought it's yes. No, it's not American
1:26:49
Express is an American company headquartered in Houston,
1:26:52
founded by Steven ultimus, Cam Ghaffari and Tim crane. Blah,
1:26:58
blah, blah, blah, blah. Now they got a lot of money. They must
1:27:01
have a lot of money that they took it public.
1:27:05
John C Dvorak: That was just so they cash out. That money comes
1:27:08
from the government.
1:27:09
Adam Curry: Yeah. Yeah. Well, how come we're never in these
1:27:12
these. These scams? Because
1:27:15
John C Dvorak: we're not scammers. Oh,
1:27:18
Adam Curry: hello. You're right. You're right. You're right. Walk
1:27:24
Bo 40 partnership and open innovation strategists. We got
1:27:27
to talk to that guy. Hey, walk D how do we get in on this
1:27:31
John C Dvorak: walk? Is that his name? Was it me?
1:27:34
Unknown: Who walks the walk? Dogs lobby.
1:27:40
Adam Curry: It's all these dudes with crew cuts. Yeah. Yeah.
1:27:44
Okay. Well, fine. I mean, I wish them well. Too bad. It tipped
1:27:49
over. We think we don't we don't actually know. We don't actually
1:27:53
know if it tiptoe but even
1:27:55
John C Dvorak: thought that it might tip over and there'd be
1:27:57
some mechanism to stand it back up. That's what gets me if it
1:28:01
tipped over which I get this a sense that it did. Yeah. They
1:28:05
couldn't stand it back up because they never thought that
1:28:08
it would ever tip over. Hello.
1:28:11
Adam Curry: Listen to this. So they have lunar access services.
1:28:14
One of them is rideshare. Let's see. Yeah, rideshare. Getting
1:28:20
the space should be easy and custom tailored to fit your
1:28:23
needs. Our lunar transfer orbit delivery services can
1:28:27
accommodate up to 1000 kilograms of payload and deliver customers
1:28:32
into a myriad of high energy orbits. We launched payloads for
1:28:36
deployment after launch vehicle separation, and from the
1:28:38
steadfast platform of our landers in lunar orbit. Your
1:28:42
results may vary due to road and weather conditions. So they're
1:28:47
going to be a rideshare companies the Uber of space, I
1:28:50
get it.
1:28:51
John C Dvorak: Okay, yeah, there's a moneymaker. Yeah.
1:28:55
Adam Curry: Somehow, you got to think that this is bullcrap.
1:29:01
John C Dvorak: All right. Let's go to Ukraine. Oh, goody. I
1:29:06
spotted a new term that we have to keep an eye on okay. And this
1:29:11
this play Ukraine anniversary the term is? Well, you'll hear
1:29:16
it in here. I used the initials FSI Ukraine anniversary day,
1:29:21
Unknown: Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine enters the
1:29:25
whole circle. And on this anniversary of the start of the
1:29:27
war, it's worth stepping back and noting that neither Russia
1:29:31
nor Ukraine has made progress on its goals. Despite hundreds of
1:29:34
1000s of casualties on both sides. Russia has failed to
1:29:38
occupy all of Ukraine and Ukraine has failed to retake all
1:29:42
of the land occupied by Russian forces.
1:29:45
Adam Curry: Wait a minute. Never Russia never said there would
1:29:48
going to occupy the whole country. Tell
1:29:50
John C Dvorak: me about it. So let's play the I want to play
1:29:53
these two FSI clips. These are the two Ed This is Nick
1:29:56
Schifrin. The first one which is I think you've just heard that
1:29:59
Yep. I played FSI but as Ukrainian Oh, hold
1:30:03
Adam Curry: on, is that something different? Oh, yeah,
1:30:06
this
1:30:06
John C Dvorak: this is from NPR. Okay,
1:30:08
Adam Curry: thank you got it. Before
1:30:10
Unknown: the full scale invasion, the 28 year old who
1:30:12
asked us to withhold his last name was a snowboard instructor
1:30:15
on a tour guide. Oh,
1:30:18
Adam Curry: full scale invasion. Oh, so this is the new this is
1:30:21
the new new is like is
1:30:23
John C Dvorak: the new new. Hey, listen, Putin and FSI on PBS
1:30:27
just to get it again.
1:30:28
Adam Curry: Yes. Okay. Russia's
1:30:30
Unknown: full scale invasion of Ukraine enters its third year.
1:30:34
Adam Curry: Good catch. Good catch. So
1:30:36
John C Dvorak: now this isn't just you. I've heard about five
1:30:39
of these. And they've decided to drop it. Now. Do you remember
1:30:44
when this started three years ago?
1:30:47
Adam Curry: I certainly do. There was no full
1:30:49
John C Dvorak: scale invasion or a bunch of under fueled tanks
1:30:53
that kind of came into the country. It stalled. And they
1:30:56
were just, you know, a full scale invasion by the Russian
1:31:00
army wouldn't be what we were seeing in Ukraine and the
1:31:04
Russians themselves just call it a military action, a police
1:31:07
action. They didn't want to work.
1:31:09
Adam Curry: militaries have special military operation. It's
1:31:12
all about the region. Yeah. So
1:31:15
John C Dvorak: that is not a full scale invasion. Yet PBS and
1:31:19
NPR among others, are now using this term, full scale invasion.
1:31:24
Adam Curry: I feel ripped off by these these great media
1:31:27
organizations.
1:31:30
John C Dvorak: So you heard part one of the NPR full scale
1:31:34
invasion that's played Part Two Ukranian grain
1:31:36
Unknown: runs low on ammunition and weapons with resupplies from
1:31:39
the United States and other allies more in doubt than ever.
1:31:42
Russia is going on the offensive in Ukraine's east. Joining us to
1:31:46
discuss this as NPRs key correspondent Joanna kisses.
1:31:49
Hey, Joanna. Hey, Scott. So tell us how Ukrainians are observing
1:31:53
this anniversary today.
1:31:54
So Scott, it's a somber day Ukrainians are very proud that
1:31:58
their country is still defending itself against a much larger
1:32:01
enemy with a much larger arsenal. But there is just a
1:32:04
sense of exhaustion and loss. And you could really sense that
1:32:08
at a rally in central key today where many were demonstrating to
1:32:11
highlight the cases of 1000s of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
1:32:15
Here's Anton cut offs of he's a 49 year old soldier who was in a
1:32:19
cave on a short break from the frontlines to see his elderly
1:32:22
Mom, I'm
1:32:23
not even sure to who this is more difficult to the civilians
1:32:27
or to the soldiers. Like my mom, for example, she's 80 years old,
1:32:32
but we are stronger than Russians. We love freedom too
1:32:36
much. We love it more than they love war. So we will win.
1:32:42
Adam Curry: We love freedom more than they love war. Yeah, oh,
1:32:46
there's a slogan.
1:32:48
John C Dvorak: I love that one cannot so this this was no good
1:32:51
this report. So we have to go back to PBS. And let's get to
1:32:55
Victoria Nuland so he really get to beat us up at the highest
1:32:59
level possible. She
1:33:00
Adam Curry: She was everywhere she was she was with what's her
1:33:07
face with Christian aman, aman poor. She was she was blanketing
1:33:14
and it's it's great to have her back on the airwaves. Because
1:33:18
once again, it reminds us what's evil and sin does to your
1:33:22
overall look. She is
1:33:26
Unknown: he looks terrible. The Biden administration today
1:33:29
unveiled a new set of sanctions against Russia to punish it
1:33:33
further for the full scale invasion of Ukraine that began
1:33:36
two years ago tomorrow.
1:33:38
The sanctions are also meant to target Russia for the death of
1:33:41
anti corruption activist and politician Alexei Navalny. He
1:33:45
died in an Arctic prison one week ago from a cause still
1:33:48
unknown. Earlier today I spoke with the US Undersecretary of
1:33:52
State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, about the state
1:33:55
of the war two years on Victoria Nuland Welcome back to the News
1:33:58
Hour. As the world prepares to mark the second anniversary of
1:34:02
Putin's Ukraine invasion, Ukraine's counter offensive has
1:34:05
stalled. Ukraine lost a brutal month long battle for up
1:34:09
Deepika. Additional funding, as you well know, is stuck in the
1:34:13
GOP led house. And Russia is showing no signs of quitting.
1:34:17
What is the outlook for Ukraine right now?
1:34:19
Well, Jeff, you're not wrong, that these are tough days for
1:34:23
Ukraine. And as you said, they've had to come out of FDA
1:34:27
of coal. When I was out there a couple of weeks ago, there were
1:34:30
soldiers on the front line, with only 20 bullets a day to defend
1:34:34
themselves. And this is why the administration is pushing so
1:34:38
hard for this additional $60 billion to support Ukraine.
1:34:42
Adam Curry: Yeah, so two things. This 2020 shells a day is a meme
1:34:47
she's repeated everywhere and what bull
1:34:50
John C Dvorak: crap is that I'm sitting in a foxhole the
1:34:53
shooting at me. I got a bunch of bucket full of bullets I shoot
1:34:58
to 20 off Am I even you got to stop. This is your limit.
1:35:03
Adam Curry: That you're kidding me know that because because of
1:35:06
Trump because Trump told the GOP, not to pass the money, and
1:35:11
therefore, these poor Ukrainians are sitting in their trenches,
1:35:14
because it's just like World War One. It's a war of attrition.
1:35:17
And they only have 20 shells a day. Now, when she says shells
1:35:21
is a little unclear if they have that's 20 shells like these big
1:35:25
the big ones is shooting out of the cannons. Or if that's, you
1:35:28
know,
1:35:29
John C Dvorak: when he bullets.
1:35:31
Adam Curry: Let me listen to it. And that's it. That is important
1:35:34
battle
1:35:34
Unknown: for up deep cook in the GOP. And I didn't like that she
1:35:37
said,
1:35:37
Adam Curry: You're not wrong girl are
1:35:39
Unknown: not wrong, that these are tough days for Ukraine. And
1:35:43
as you said, they've had to come out of FDA of ko when I was out
1:35:47
there a couple of weeks ago, there were soldiers on the front
1:35:49
line with only 20 bullets. Okay,
1:35:52
Adam Curry: she says bullets in a report I have she said shell.
1:35:54
So it's bullets, maybe it's shells. But she said bullets or
1:35:58
bullets as you said
1:35:59
John C Dvorak: bullets. Going in a foxhole with a bucket full of
1:36:02
bullets and you can only shoot 20 of them if they come at ya
1:36:05
too bad. Don't use any more of those bullets because you only
1:36:08
had 20 You got a bayonet,
1:36:09
Adam Curry: that's what the bayonet is for.
1:36:13
John C Dvorak: Okay, I'm onward with with her with her. With her
1:36:17
crap
1:36:18
Unknown: with this money, we actually think that they can
1:36:21
make some serious gains in 2024, particularly by enhancing some
1:36:25
of the asymmetric techniques that they have been using
1:36:29
asymmetric
1:36:30
Adam Curry: technique, rocks. What is an asymmetric technique
1:36:34
in warfare? Well,
1:36:36
John C Dvorak: they did. What they showed is a fighter jets
1:36:40
little bitty drones would like it was like a hand gun.
1:36:45
Adam Curry: taped to the front. Yeah, that's the that's the
1:36:47
Canadians a goon or the UK a million drones, a million tiny
1:36:50
drones,
1:36:50
John C Dvorak: these drones and they got low hand gun, you can
1:36:53
see a little gun sitting down there. And good flies around and
1:36:56
shoots just randomly every time it shoots. It backs up about
1:36:59
five feet because of the Yeah, this is asymmetric. Asymmetric.
1:37:03
Got
1:37:03
Unknown: it. But we need to support them, just as the
1:37:05
Europeans have just given them an additional $54 billion.
1:37:10
Well, so far, House Speaker Mike Johnson has a need for us to
1:37:14
bring up a Senate passed package or at least for a quick vote. Is
1:37:19
there a way for the administration to get that much
1:37:21
needed aid to Ukraine absent action from Congress? Jeff,
1:37:25
I would just start by reminding that this bill passed
1:37:29
overwhelmingly in the Senate 70 senators supported it. And they
1:37:34
supported it because they understand that as much as this
1:37:37
is about Ukraine's ability to survive as a democratic state,
1:37:42
it is also about the larger principles of a free and open
1:37:46
international order that benefits the United States. And
1:37:50
that if we don't stand with Ukraine is Putin wins here, then
1:37:54
dictators and tyrants all over the world will take note, and
1:37:58
we'll get hungry with their own territorial aspirations. So we
1:38:04
need to pass this money and the American people broadly
1:38:06
understand that. So we are hopeful that they will tell
1:38:11
their members when they're home during this recess, how much
1:38:15
they support this, this money and we already confident.
1:38:21
Adam Curry: Okay, so a couple things. One, if we support the
1:38:24
money, too, they didn't go home on their recess, they all went
1:38:27
to Ukraine. Everybody was in Ukraine, Queen Ursula was in
1:38:31
Ukraine, Chuck Schumer is in Ukraine, everyone is hanging out
1:38:34
Ukraine, bowing to Zelinsky. And here's the question, if it's so
1:38:38
known that they only have 20 bullets a day, why hasn't Putin
1:38:42
gone full roughshod and just ran right over everybody? If they if
1:38:47
they're out of ammo? That it's it's the end of the exercise
1:38:51
here. If it really was a FSI, don't you think that it would
1:38:56
have ended by now or is Putin's mission he's in me, and we're
1:38:59
being told different than we're being told.
1:39:02
John C Dvorak: The other thing is throughout this interview,
1:39:04
and this is, how many clips are there? Five times three? We're
1:39:07
at three now. We're on number three. Throughout this
1:39:11
interview, and all the other newless Have you heard not one
1:39:15
reporter even brought up or mentioned negotiations to end
1:39:20
this idiotic war that's costing billions and billions and 10s of
1:39:24
billions of dollars? Well, would
1:39:26
Adam Curry: you want to be out of a job?
1:39:29
Unknown: Here we go. President Biden today announced more than
1:39:32
500 sanctions on Russia. This is the largest tranche since the
1:39:36
conflict started. Is this a tacit admission that the
1:39:40
previous sanctions haven't worked? What with Russia's
1:39:43
military industrial complex up and running and
1:39:46
Adam Curry: I love I hear this more often now, too. There's a
1:39:49
military industrial complex, but it's only Russia. We don't have
1:39:53
one
1:39:54
Unknown: seemingly drawing on limitless supplies and support
1:39:57
from its authoritarian allies.
1:40:00
Well, let me start with your premise, Jeff that previous
1:40:02
sanctions haven't worked, Russia has become a pariah state around
1:40:06
the world thrown out of the international banking system.
1:40:09
And now so desperate for weapons that it has to go to countries
1:40:13
like Iran and North Korea, Korea to get them, but those Russians
1:40:18
are wily, and they have over the last
1:40:20
Adam Curry: while they're wildly love that one Russian those
1:40:24
Russians are wildly they're wildly E Coyote
1:40:26
Unknown: to get them. But those Russians are wildly and they
1:40:29
have over the last six months found ways to evade sanctions at
1:40:33
but we've also got smarter about how to hurt them then that's why
1:40:38
this package is so massive it looks at punishing sanctions
1:40:43
evaders, it looks at closing down further Russia's access to
1:40:48
credit and finance. It also punishes for the death of the
1:40:54
leading opposition figure Nirvani at the hands of Putin in
1:40:59
his present guards and it sanctions of those involved in
1:41:03
the abduction of Ukrainian children into Russia. So it is a
1:41:07
massive package. And partly it's because we've got to staunch
1:41:11
this evasion.
1:41:12
Adam Curry: Can I just interject your your clip sequence here
1:41:15
with one
1:41:15
John C Dvorak: no you can't right now because you have to
1:41:17
back it up and listen to what she said at the very end.
1:41:20
Adam Curry: I heard what about the children? I heard about the
1:41:22
children? No, no, no.
1:41:24
John C Dvorak: There's this phrase she uses that.
1:41:26
Adam Curry: I'm sorry. Oh, can I do only to play the last few
1:41:29
seconds of that clip? Yeah.
1:41:32
Unknown: Those involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children
1:41:35
into Russia so it is a massive package and partly it's because
1:41:40
we've got to staunch this evasion. staunch
1:41:43
Adam Curry: this evasion. Start
1:41:45
John C Dvorak: start a staunch this invasion
1:41:48
Adam Curry: I think she said evasion. She didn't say
1:41:50
injection didn't
1:41:51
John C Dvorak: say evasive but the word I'm looking for PLAY
1:41:53
CLIP floor for because it's only this these this term it
1:41:56
Unknown: is a massive package. And partly it's because we've
1:41:59
got to staunch this evasion. And because we have far more targets
1:42:04
now as we understand better how to staunch the Russian
1:42:08
industrial complex, staunch look
1:42:12
John C Dvorak: it up scope right. staunch and tell me what
1:42:20
the hell she's talking about
1:42:21
Adam Curry: firm and dependable, especially in loyalty stopped
1:42:26
the flow of a liquid to staunch to stop the flow. That's what
1:42:32
I'm getting right off the hand right of hands. Stop staunch to
1:42:36
check or stop the flowing of stop. We're checking its course
1:42:40
to make so stop to stop the flow to staunch to staunch to stop
1:42:45
the flow. Doesn't sound like defeat.
1:42:48
John C Dvorak: And I just found it peculiar.
1:42:51
Adam Curry: No, it's ridiculous. Can I play your clip? Yeah, just
1:42:55
about this sanctions. The great sanctions that we've placed on
1:43:00
Russia,
1:43:00
Unknown: oil tankers like these are still bringing Russian oil
1:43:03
into the EU, and it earned the Kremlin 1.1 billion euros last
1:43:09
year. According to a new report by the NGO Global Witness, a
1:43:13
legal loophole is allowing Russia to sell its oil in the
1:43:17
EU. Despite the sanctions against imports,
1:43:21
countries which haven't imposed sanctions on Russian oil are
1:43:23
able to import millions of barrels of Russian crude oil.
1:43:26
They refined them in those countries and at the point that
1:43:29
they become a refined product like fuel or diesel is no longer
1:43:32
considered Russian. And so this fuel is freely imported into the
1:43:35
European Union. They
1:43:36
followed oil tanker movements and delved into publicly
1:43:39
available Russian tax revenue information in their research.
1:43:44
The oil is mainly coming through India and Turkey, but also
1:43:48
Bulgaria, which is actually inside the EU. When the EU
1:43:52
brought in the sanctions on refined petroleum products in
1:43:55
February 2023. They did so with limited exceptions. One of those
1:44:01
exceptions being to allow Bulgaria to continue to import
1:44:04
refined oil in order to prevent a major economic hit to the EU's
1:44:09
poorest nation. So
1:44:11
Adam Curry: bull crap. Oh crap. They don't really mean it. They
1:44:16
just want money.
1:44:19
John C Dvorak: No, what's interesting is that is the
1:44:21
figure that they used. This oil coming out of Russia syrup,
1:44:26
surreptitiously brought them 1.4 billion. Were trying to ship 60
1:44:33
billion to Ukraine just so they can have more than 10 bullets
1:44:38
Adam Curry: 20 It's 2020
1:44:39
John C Dvorak: I'm sorry,
1:44:40
Adam Curry: what am I think and I hope your Newland clip has the
1:44:43
money shot does it five? Yes. Is the money shot otherwise I got
1:44:50
the money shot. No,
1:44:51
John C Dvorak: I didn't. Mind doesn't have them. I don't know
1:44:54
if it does or not. I know what you're looking for. But once you
1:44:56
play this, then you play your money shot. Okay.
1:44:59
Unknown: And this is up quite worrying is that Russia has been
1:45:02
willing to intensify its economic and security
1:45:06
relationship with China, in fact, becoming increasingly
1:45:10
dependent on China. And that is how it is fueling its war
1:45:15
machine. It's also been willing to put the vast majority of its
1:45:19
own economic stimulus into the war effort. So it is starving
1:45:25
Russia and Russians of investment in education in their
1:45:30
own future all in service of Putin's imperial ambitions. So
1:45:36
he is adjust as well.
1:45:37
As we wrap up our conversation, you said you're confident that
1:45:40
the aid package will ultimately pass Congress. There is this
1:45:45
question, though, of what good would additionally What did
1:45:48
Adam Curry: he just say? He just said on the pass, ultimately,
1:45:50
what do is adjust as
1:45:51
Unknown: well, as we wrap up our conversation, you said you're
1:45:54
confident that she will ultimately pass Congress? There
1:45:59
is this question, though, of what good would additional aid
1:46:02
do especially among those who view this as a war of attrition
1:46:06
and point to the slow progress of Ukraine's counter offensive?
1:46:10
If the US continues to provide Ukraine the same sorts of
1:46:14
weapons? Why wouldn't that lead to a further stalemate,
1:46:18
first of all, this aid is going to allow Ukraine to do four
1:46:23
things, it's going to allow them to continue to fight, it's going
1:46:26
to allow them to build a highly deterrent military of the
1:46:30
future, so that they will increasingly be able to stand on
1:46:33
their own feet in security terms, it's going to help them
1:46:36
recover and get more of their own people home and rebuild
1:46:40
their tax base. So that we have, there's less economic support
1:46:46
that they need from the rest of the world. And it's also going
1:46:49
to help them reform and become a more European democratic
1:46:54
country. With this money on the battlefield. First and foremost,
1:46:58
it will ensure Ukraine can hold the line. But as I said, they're
1:47:03
getting increasingly proficient at asymmetric weapons. And I
1:47:07
expect, as I said, in Kyiv, a couple of weeks ago, when I was
1:47:11
there, that if we can provide this support, Putin is going to
1:47:15
get some very nasty surprises on the battlefield in 2024.
1:47:20
Bullshit.
1:47:21
Adam Curry: Okay. So yes, big bull crap, because when she was
1:47:25
talking to globalist Christiane Amanpour, she had a whole
1:47:30
different story about this money. No one mentioned that.
1:47:34
That's what we needed. She needed bullets. Now we're gonna
1:47:37
give him money so they can bring people back home. So they can,
1:47:40
you know, start their tax base. And now No, no, no, no. She
1:47:45
said, a couple of quiet things out loud in this interview,
1:47:47
what's
1:47:48
Unknown: your response to him and others here telling us? You
1:47:51
know, America talks a good game. But right now we're stalled. And
1:47:55
it needs to remember it is the father, mother of democracy and
1:47:59
freedom around the world. Oh,
1:48:00
yeah. Well, thank you, Christian. That's
1:48:02
the point that President Biden is making as well. And that 70
1:48:06
senators made just last week in passing overwhelmingly, the
1:48:11
administration supplemental request, including 60 billion
1:48:14
for Ukraine. So now the question is in the House of
1:48:18
Representatives, and support for Ukraine across the United States
1:48:22
is still strong. So we hope that representatives will reflect
1:48:26
that in the way they vote. And it's strong, not just because
1:48:30
people understand how brave and resilient Ukraine has been. But
1:48:34
that this is not just about Ukraine. If we don't stop
1:48:39
putting in Ukraine, he will keep going. And autocrats and tyrants
1:48:43
all around the world will take comfort and think that they too
1:48:46
can chunk off a piece of their neighbor.
1:48:48
Adam Curry: So I think she read the secret or something's like
1:48:51
if I just keep saying that people really are all for it,
1:48:53
then it'll happen. And here is the money shot. Do you
1:48:57
Unknown: have any actual belief or reason to believe that
1:49:01
eventually this bill will be paid? And if not, how are you
1:49:05
going to make sure Ukraine gets vital weapons? And
1:49:08
Adam Curry: by the way, I love that that I'm on tour says that
1:49:11
this bill will get paid. What did they send us an invoice is
1:49:15
are we down to that now? Or just just a Venmo? A QR code? What
1:49:20
did they do? Instead of this bill will be passed. She says
1:49:23
this bill should be paid, this bill
1:49:25
Unknown: will be paid? And if not, how are you going to make
1:49:29
sure you can get vital weapons and ammunition? Chris
1:49:32
John, I have strong confidence that when the House comes back
1:49:36
after they've been out in their districts, hearing from the
1:49:39
American people, after they have heard from Ukraine, they have
1:49:43
heard from Europe, which by the way, just passed 54 billion in
1:49:48
additional aid itself over 10 years that we will do what we
1:49:52
have always done which is defend democracy and freedom around the
1:49:56
world. Not just for victims of tyrants like Putin, but in our
1:50:01
own interest in serving a free and open international order,
1:50:05
that's what we need to do. We've done it before. And by the way,
1:50:09
we have to remember that the bulk of this money is going
1:50:13
right back into the US economy to make those weapons, including
1:50:17
good paying jobs in some 40 states across the United States.
1:50:21
And there
1:50:21
Adam Curry: it is, oops. So this, so she's either lying
1:50:26
about helping the Ukrainians rebuild, where their tax base,
1:50:30
etc, or she's lying about going straight into the military
1:50:33
industrial complex, which I believe is what it's doing. And
1:50:36
I think at this point, that's the only thing keeping our
1:50:39
economy afloat that an AI chips Well, AI chips, but and things
1:50:49
are about to get interesting, because the biggest soy boy
1:50:53
politician is it looks like it's definitely happening. Margarita,
1:50:58
former, your buddy, Dutch Prime Minister, who I've met who is a
1:51:03
hunk of soy, he is I mean, he ran HR at Unilever. And then all
1:51:11
of a sudden he was Prime Minister. He's, he's weak, he's
1:51:15
wimpy. He's a total Yes, man. But he talks a big game
1:51:19
Unknown: for over a decade, he's been a mainstay in European
1:51:23
politics. And now Mark routers in pole position to take another
1:51:27
leadership role crucial for the continent. The outgoing Dutch
1:51:31
Prime Minister has received a number of endorsements to lead
1:51:34
the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO. On
1:51:38
Thursday, the White House back to Ruta for the job, as did the
1:51:42
UK Foreign Office, and a spokesperson for German
1:51:45
Chancellor Olaf Schultz. Other messages of support came during
1:51:49
the Munich Security Conference last weekend. And
1:51:53
Adam Curry: of course, we Margaret, we were partially
1:51:56
nostalgic about the past and talking a little bit about the
1:51:59
future. And she will know he's in the running to become NATO
1:52:03
Secretary General and I personally wish him the best of
1:52:07
luck. I'm very excited by him becoming NATO, Secretary General
1:52:12
because he has the perfect Dutch accent for me to make fun of
1:52:17
it's coming up in that endeavor.
1:52:20
Unknown: The next NATO Secretary General will succeed Jens
1:52:24
Stoltenberg in October, they'll have the challenge of sustaining
1:52:27
the alliances support for Ukraine's costly defense against
1:52:31
Russia. And depending on the outcome of the US presidential
1:52:35
election, they may have to work closely with Donald Trump, an
1:52:39
outspoken NATO critic in Munich router said Europe should focus
1:52:43
more on Ukraine than on the presidential front runner. And
1:52:47
be sure to because you also mentioned the rest of us. Stop
1:52:51
moaning and whining and nagging about Trump and we have to work
1:52:55
with whoever is on the dance floor. I
1:52:56
Adam Curry: love this guy. We have to work with you every show
1:53:00
on the dance floor. Stop moaning and whining and griping about
1:53:05
it. And by the way, I My name is Margarita. The last time the
1:53:10
ditch man was here was JB EOBD hopes heifer. And he was really
1:53:14
great too. So no worries, I take care of it. And I'm your HR guy
1:53:19
here at Dance with me. The answer would be Trumpy. This guy
1:53:24
is he'll be fun. He would almost be guys that is
1:53:27
John C Dvorak: great. Because I love that voice.
1:53:31
Adam Curry: I got to play that again. I just love the end
1:53:33
there. That is so good. What
1:53:34
Unknown: Europe should focus more on the presidential front
1:53:38
runner. And
1:53:39
be sure to because you also mentioned the rest of us. Stop
1:53:43
moaning and whining and nagging about Trump and we have to work
1:53:47
with whoever is on the dance floor. Whoever
1:53:49
Adam Curry: is on the dance floor. I dance with him to me.
1:53:51
Come on, man. I dance with you. Let's dance. Let's dance. Want
1:53:54
to do a little conga line. Hey, Trent. Let's do it. I can't
1:53:58
wait. I can't wait. I vote yes. I vote yes. Bring him in. Oh
1:54:05
man. He is such a douche. And they are the outgoing I mean,
1:54:09
the guy got kicked out. Yeah, exactly. This is all that all
1:54:14
these European countries all they're all just waiting to get
1:54:17
the big job in Brussels. That's all they really want. Just want
1:54:21
that job in Brussels. As long as I can get that then I'll be
1:54:24
good. Do
1:54:25
John C Dvorak: you know Queen Ursula has never won an actual
1:54:29
election for any public office in Jura Germany ever
1:54:33
Adam Curry: while she was the minister of defense and got
1:54:35
kicked out that's why she was then appointed. She didn't even
1:54:39
run she's running now.
1:54:40
John C Dvorak: She is so annoying that no one will vote
1:54:43
for her. Yeah, I know but she's fine. You can pick her and put
1:54:46
her in some now she's Queen of the you know the EU you not by
1:54:51
anyone's wanting her.
1:54:52
Adam Curry: Did we play that clip on the lash? I don't think
1:54:54
I had a clip. Hold on a second. Ursula on Yes, here it is. This
1:55:01
is a little clip of her
1:55:02
Unknown: history maker and a trailblazer, personal of
1:55:06
underlying became the first woman president of the European
1:55:08
Commission in 2019.
1:55:11
The trust you placed in me is confidence you placed in Europe.
1:55:16
Her selection came as a surprise to many, not a former prime
1:55:20
minister, like many of her predecessors, but a struggling
1:55:23
defense minister in the German government of Angular Merkel.
1:55:27
Fast forward to 2022. And the Forbes list cause von der Leyen,
1:55:32
the most powerful woman in the world. And again in 2023, I've
1:55:40
already so what got her there, Commission proposed the large
1:55:43
most ambitious climate laws, spearheaded the EU's, successful
1:55:47
COVID vaccine procurement program. Yeah,
1:55:50
Adam Curry: with with text messages we're not allowed to
1:55:53
see. Right, he supported
1:55:55
Unknown: Ukraine and talked tough against China. Those
1:55:58
successes haven't won over all of the members of the European
1:56:01
Parliament, though, and will have a chance to block her
1:56:04
second term. So
1:56:07
Adam Curry: she's running now and, you know, I would not bet
1:56:10
against her being reelected. I would not bet against that.
1:56:14
John C Dvorak: Because they're not actually being elected by a
1:56:16
democratic body. Well,
1:56:18
Adam Curry: hello. No, it's but it's by the EU Starfleet Command
1:56:21
which
1:56:21
John C Dvorak: bags that?
1:56:23
Adam Curry: Yes. Is the Starfleet appointed. Yes,
1:56:25
Starfleet Command for all practical purposes. May I shift
1:56:29
for a second here to something else, just to dance around and
1:56:33
pat myself on the back trying not to break my arm or
1:56:35
Unknown: rude awakening for 10s of 1000s of AT and T customers.
1:56:39
I woke up this morning turned on my phone and no internet checked
1:56:43
my phone. It's like what's going on? I don't even see an SOS.
1:56:47
Now. I can't even use my GPS, my music call my wife Taylor. I'm
1:56:50
going to be
1:56:51
from Chicago to Dallas, Boston to Los Angeles. More than 74,000
1:56:56
users reported widespread problems.
1:56:58
So on a personal level, it was it was definitely confusing and
1:57:02
uncomfortable. But it wasn't the end of the world
1:57:04
late today. 18 t apologized to customers and said service had
1:57:07
been fully restored. Nearly three quarters of adults live in
1:57:10
households without a landline so losing cell service in a
1:57:14
disaster can cripple communications. That was the
1:57:16
case in the Maui wildfires. But today's outage inundated
1:57:20
emergency call centers with people dialing them up to test
1:57:23
their phones. Massachusetts State Police posting that many
1:57:27
911 centers were flooded with calls. And in San Francisco,
1:57:31
please
1:57:31
don't call 911 to verify if your phone works. If you don't have
1:57:37
an emergency stupid The FBI is
1:57:39
in contact with 18 T and the FCC is actively investigating. The
1:57:43
National Security Council says there's no reason to think that
1:57:46
this was a cybersecurity incident. Does this incident
1:57:49
worry you about the future? I
1:57:51
always worry about our dependency on technology. I
1:57:56
think it's also a good wake up call. And just a reminder that
1:58:00
we can't depend 100% all the time on the technology that we
1:58:05
depend on 100
1:58:09
A total last resort experts say you can always go in person to
1:58:13
your local fire or police department.
1:58:16
Adam Curry: So now we know when now we know that it was indeed a
1:58:19
software update. And the biggest complaint was not about loss of
1:58:23
internet or loss of income or No, no, no what everyone was
1:58:28
really mad about. It's I want some credit for this
1:58:31
Unknown: you attend this evening. at&t says it is trying
1:58:34
to make things right after this week's nationwide service
1:58:38
outage, you know in a post to their website tonight, the
1:58:40
provider apologize for letting customers down and promised a $5
1:58:44
credit grid impacted accounts and there are 1000s of the we
1:58:49
are totally will appear on your bill in one to two cycles. at&t
1:58:53
Blaming the hours long outage on Thursday on a technical error
1:58:58
for the current while expanding their network. Now this FCC and
1:59:02
the FBI right now is still
1:59:04
investigating.
1:59:05
Adam Curry: Yeah, so but they copped to it. It was a expanding
1:59:09
their network, whatever that means. So
1:59:12
John C Dvorak: I have a very concerning comment about that
1:59:18
clip. Yes, exactly. Why would somebody explain to me exactly
1:59:22
why do you need phone service for the GPS on your phone to
1:59:28
work? And that was elucidated in that particular clip. So I
1:59:33
couldn't do anything. I couldn't tell my wife where I was a GPS
1:59:36
wasn't working. And I've noticed this when you have one of these
1:59:39
phones and you lose your service for whatever reason. Why does
1:59:42
the GPS go out? It makes no sense because well, because
1:59:47
they're tracking you. Is there a reason? Yes,
1:59:49
Adam Curry: because most phones will give you accurate location
1:59:53
based upon cell phone triangulation tower
1:59:56
triangulation. Yeah, of course. They're tracking you. Hello. Oh,
2:00:00
surprised I thought how would you even know that you don't
2:00:03
take your phone out of your drawer? It's still in your
2:00:05
drawer?
2:00:05
John C Dvorak: I am on month. 14? Yes. Of no phone? Yeah.
2:00:12
Adam Curry: Congratulations. And here's what isn't observation.
2:00:17
What? Because I talked to a couple people, and there were
2:00:19
people very freaked out there was their friend of ours, who
2:00:24
were on their way to Austin and turned around. Like, I don't
2:00:27
want to go into Austin without cell service. But yeah, oh,
2:00:31
yeah.
2:00:32
John C Dvorak: And this is not good. No.
2:00:34
Adam Curry: And these are successful, smart individuals.
2:00:39
The other part is when people saw because you know, you didn't
2:00:42
have a network, and then it's what I think happens with these
2:00:45
phones is that it says SOS only, which means that either happens
2:00:50
when you have no service or you haven't paid your service. I
2:00:53
think I'm not sure. Maybe you can connect to another cell
2:00:58
tower to send a 911 call or to make a 911 call. Not so sure.
2:01:03
But the user experience of SOS only or SOS freak people out
2:01:09
because they couldn't call. They had no idea why SOS was there
2:01:13
other than Oh, my God, we're in an SOS situation. They literally
2:01:17
did not know what that meant. It's, it's a bad UI. I mean,
2:01:20
it's a it's a bad UI choice, in hindsight. But yes, there were
2:01:24
people who just felt crippled, and I just want one of our
2:01:30
church growth. He said, You know, if it wasn't for you, and
2:01:33
your show, I would have been completely I would have melted
2:01:37
into oblivion out of fear. Because the cell service didn't
2:01:42
work and it said SOS and remember that they just everyone
2:01:47
just saw that Obama movie, the Obama produced movie about you
2:01:52
know, the, the whole system melting down and the Tesla's
2:01:56
driving by themselves. In that part kind of worked. Sadly.
2:02:04
John C Dvorak: This could have been this may have not been a
2:02:07
failure at all. It could have been a
2:02:09
Adam Curry: test. I'm not going you are not wrong with that,
2:02:12
John. I'm not wrong. I'm not wrong. Meanwhile, there is an
2:02:16
actual cyber issue across Chicagoland.
2:02:19
Unknown: This cyber attack a pack certain prescription
2:02:21
refills in certain locations, the company attacks as if
2:02:25
they're not taking any shortcuts. To fix this problem.
2:02:28
The outage is expected to last through the remainder of the
2:02:30
day. Still, there is concern if this outage isn't fixed by the
2:02:34
weekend. A cyber attack against one of the country's largest
2:02:38
prescription processors enters a third day change healthcare
2:02:41
provides prescription processing through optim, which supplies
2:02:45
technology services to 1000s of pharmacies. The company was
2:02:48
attacked on Wednesday, making certain prescriptions difficult
2:02:52
to refill electronically. According to The Wall Street
2:02:54
Journal optins parent company UnitedHealth suspects a foreign
2:02:58
government was behind the attack line the company says they've
2:03:01
disconnected change health care systems you
2:03:04
Adam Curry: sure you want just expanding your network? Is a
2:03:07
foreign state actor everybody how come that's not national
2:03:10
news then that's local that's Chicago
2:03:13
John C Dvorak: that should have been covered. And
2:03:15
Adam Curry: I want to I'm very curious about your kid flew
2:03:18
answers clips. But before we do that, I just wanted to follow up
2:03:22
on something we're talking about on the last show about these
2:03:25
bogus charities that are in NGOs that are getting big money for
2:03:30
John C Dvorak: for our exit strategy, but
2:03:33
Adam Curry: it is and it's quite easy to do. And remember just
2:03:37
because a charity has Catholic in their name, doesn't mean does
2:03:41
it mean a thing? No, it could be One Hour Photo doesn't mean
2:03:43
you're gonna get pictures in one hour. What are some other
2:03:46
examples?
2:03:47
John C Dvorak: Of? Well, the classic is one hour cleaners one
2:03:51
hour cleaners
2:03:52
Adam Curry: isn't that's the best one. One hour just to name
2:03:55
this not not advertising. So now Ken Paxton, our Attorney General
2:03:59
here in Texas is going after one of them.
2:04:02
Unknown: Backed by dozens of local elected leaders this week
2:04:05
the El Paso migrant shelter, annunciation house flatly
2:04:08
denying claims from the attorney general that they participated
2:04:12
in activities that he deemed illegal, including human
2:04:16
smuggling. The Catholic nonprofit instead claims Mr.
2:04:20
Paxson is just trying to shut them down because he personally
2:04:23
disagrees that the services they provide to migrants, services
2:04:27
MIDI in the border community say are badly needed. December
2:04:32
when we were having about 3000 asylum seekers coming through.
2:04:36
We couldn't have made it without the Annunciation house we
2:04:38
couldn't have made it without the help of the NGOs. We
2:04:42
will not be intimidated in our work to serve Jesus Christ in
2:04:47
our sisters and brothers fleeing danger and seeking to keep their
2:04:51
families together.
2:04:53
Is there no shame to refer to houses of God houses his
2:05:00
hospitality. stash houses.
2:05:05
The Attorney General also accusing annunciation house of
2:05:08
withholding records but lawyers for the nonprofit refuted that
2:05:12
as well. saying his office only gave them small staff 24 hours,
2:05:17
they're small staff, I should say 24 hours to produce a
2:05:21
massive amount of documents. So I
2:05:24
Adam Curry: love stories like this. This, you know, so they
2:05:27
had some very Catholic Bishop looking guy who showed up. I
2:05:33
mean, he almost sounded like an actor. I really don't know
2:05:37
anything about him. But annunciation house, there are
2:05:41
nonprofit, I went to the normal sources to look at their form
2:05:45
9090 Wouldn't you know, they haven't filed one since 2003.
2:05:50
The only time they ever filed one. That is fraud right there.
2:05:54
You cannot be a nonprofit in the United States and not file your
2:06:00
form 990 Certainly not for 11 years. So I think there's this
2:06:09
is just maybe the tip of the iceberg.
2:06:14
John C Dvorak: Maybe they're under some other name, and it is
2:06:16
filed now now and I can't believe they'd go that long
2:06:19
without filing any paperwork. This
2:06:21
Adam Curry: is a bonanza, John, it's a bonanza. There's so much
2:06:26
fraud and waste and abuse. By the way, there's a new term l
2:06:31
pass l pass is the new term. It's an acronym LPA. S. Dame
2:06:38
Beth heard this and send it to me. Legally processed asylum
2:06:42
seeker l pass to look for it. Be on the lookout for the L pass.
2:06:49
Legally processed asylum seeker.
2:06:55
John C Dvorak: All right, I have a series of clips. Yes. This is
2:06:59
special that was done. It was actually quite good. But the
2:07:02
some of the big questions weren't asked, which I will ask
2:07:05
during the playing of these clips. But the New York Times
2:07:09
did a long look at so called Kid fluent sirs. And these are
2:07:16
children who have accounts that are created by their mothers and
2:07:19
they're just little their kids like eight 910 1112 year olds.
2:07:25
And there's 1000s and 1000s of these accounts and they will
2:07:32
it's actually a disturbing series of clips and you'll be
2:07:36
more disturbed as you listen to each one. Let's start with clip
2:07:38
one. A
2:07:39
Unknown: new investigation looks at the disturbing world of so
2:07:42
called Kid flu answers and the moms who run their accounts. One
2:07:46
in three preteens say being an influencer is a career goal, but
2:07:50
the reality poses serious risks to underage girls. Stephanie
2:07:54
sigh looks at those concerns. Instagram
2:07:56
doesn't allow children younger than 13 to have their own
2:07:59
accounts. So what we're seeing is parents have kid influencers
2:08:03
set up and manage these accounts. posting content of
2:08:06
girls can be lucrative. Instagram makes it possible to
2:08:09
have paid monthly subscribers and kids apparel brands will pay
2:08:13
1000s of dollars for a single post of a kid modeling say their
2:08:18
dance leotards. But what might seem like innocent photos to a
2:08:21
mom may read differently to a man or a pedophile? New York
2:08:26
Times reporter Michael Keller analyzed data from 5000 of these
2:08:30
mom run accounts as part of a New York Times investigation and
2:08:34
joins me now Michael, thank you for being here. I mean, the
2:08:38
headline of your report really sums up the risk, a marketplace
2:08:42
of girl influencers managed by moms and stalked by men. Whoa,
2:08:49
Adam Curry: I already know where this is going. This is a setup.
2:08:52
This is a setup to legislation. There's no doubt about it.
2:08:56
John C Dvorak: Well, there might be but I think they're gonna
2:08:58
have trouble. The course this is also the gouge. Yeah, for
2:09:03
soccer. Berg. Yeah, of course. Yeah. We gotta get he's not
2:09:05
putting up enough money to the Republican who is the
2:09:08
Republicans this time? Republicans? Yeah, the
2:09:11
Republicans for sure. The Democrats, probably less so. But
2:09:15
there's a lot of interesting potential here. When you start
2:09:18
listening to the numbers, the fact that they found 5000 of
2:09:21
these things that they looked into, which seems excessive
2:09:24
means that's the tip of the iceberg. Yeah. There's probably
2:09:29
20,000 of these of these of these screwball kid flu answers,
2:09:34
which is idiotic, if anything ever has been. And you have to
2:09:38
wonder what's going on here. Let's go. Part two. What did
2:09:43
Unknown: you find about how prolific these accounts are and
2:09:46
why so many moms are into this?
2:09:49
My colleague Jennifer Valentino did reason I wanted to look into
2:09:52
this world of child influencers. And as you said, they often are
2:09:57
too young to have account to their own and so they're run by
2:09:59
their pay Parents, they got into them for a variety of reasons,
2:10:04
there was a range from dancers and gymnasts who wanted to get
2:10:08
free or discounted leotards in exchange for photos, modeling
2:10:13
the apparel. A lot of parents said that social media was the
2:10:17
way they could assure a good digital resume for their child's
2:10:22
future and maybe even help pay for college or gain
2:10:26
opportunities working with sought after choreographers on
2:10:30
the more extreme end your aspiring models, some had their
2:10:35
own subscriptions, both on Instagram, where they would
2:10:37
charge up to $20 a month for more photos or chat sessions
2:10:44
with the child or on other platforms where the monthly cost
2:10:48
went as high as $250.
2:10:50
Adam Curry: It's only fans for children, Lord Jesus come
2:10:53
quickly.
2:10:55
John C Dvorak: It's only fans for children. For $250 a month,
2:10:59
you can chat with one of these kids. Oh, this is sick. It's
2:11:05
totally This is so sick. And here's what one of the things
2:11:09
that you you listen to this report, and you just wonder
2:11:13
where they're where their reportage actually is because
2:11:16
his New York Times guys had like some sort of a weenie. And they
2:11:19
go on and on and on. Nobody seems to bring up the
2:11:22
possibility even though it has to be apparent. And there's a
2:11:28
pun in there. It has to be apparent that there is some moms
2:11:33
single moms, let's say not to put you know, put the point them
2:11:38
out specifically, who are whoring out their kids. You
2:11:42
know, it was net before it was never discussed. And for you
2:11:46
Adam Curry: continue. My sister Willow, you know, she did her
2:11:49
dissertation on social networking, social media, and
2:11:57
she did a lot of study. She got a degree online in psychology,
2:12:02
and Master's. And she she did this or she, I don't know if she
2:12:07
came across a study to the study yourself. But she told me that
2:12:11
the worst thing that that moms are doing early moms is they're
2:12:15
taking pictures while they're with their, like nursing, or
2:12:19
have their child in their arms. And she says it's it's been
2:12:22
proven that this is very destructive for the bonding
2:12:27
process between mother and child because the mother is not not
2:12:31
focused on the child, the mother is focused on herself. And this
2:12:36
is when this starts. It's really about the moms I think, and or
2:12:41
parents. I don't want to single moms. But I think it's about the
2:12:43
parents who are caught. I mean, this is this is not good.
2:12:50
John C Dvorak: Well, they only talk about moms here. So there
2:12:52
you can get leave the dads out, okay, they probably have no
2:12:55
obligation otherwise, let's go with clip three.
2:12:59
Unknown: So your report also found that a lot of the
2:13:02
followers of these accounts are men, are they driving these
2:13:07
accounts popularity and their profits? So
2:13:10
we did an analysis looking at the follower size of these
2:13:14
accounts, and the percentage of men in that audience and did
2:13:19
find correlation that as the audience's got larger, there
2:13:24
were more men in them. Now some parents and pretty much all the
2:13:28
parents we spoke to said that men following them and posting
2:13:32
inappropriately was a really big problem. Some of them said that
2:13:36
the first thing they did when they woke up in the morning was
2:13:39
block followers. And the last thing they did before they went
2:13:41
to bed was block followers. They often post inappropriate or even
2:13:48
proposition the girls in the comments below the photos. They
2:13:53
do block them as I said, but a lot of them ran into issues
2:13:58
where if they blocked too many Instagram would start limiting
2:14:02
their ability to either follow new accounts, or to block even
2:14:06
more one parents said, like I can't believe this. I've reached
2:14:09
my limit or the day of blocking creepy men.
2:14:13
Adam Curry: Oh my god, how about reporting? Have you considered
2:14:15
reporting creepy men? Is it just blocking it? Can't you report?
2:14:20
John C Dvorak: Now this seems to me this reminds me at this point
2:14:23
of the problem you get with spam calls and these guys with the
2:14:27
blue pillow. And pg&e, we get your 5% discount if you just
2:14:32
give us everything you know about yourself. Why doesn't the
2:14:37
government I mean, instead of finding more things to indict
2:14:41
Trump about Elizabeth
2:14:43
Adam Curry: Warren should be all over this. Yeah. Where's
2:14:45
John C Dvorak: Elizabeth Warren? And tracking these creepy men as
2:14:49
they put it, try there. They have IP addresses. This is all
2:14:53
trackable. Not all I'm sure some maybe go through a VPN some of
2:14:57
them maybe fool around in some funny way. way, but there's this
2:15:01
is like you could this is you could stop this. If the
2:15:04
government instead of going after Trump about everything
2:15:08
would spend a lot of time, the kind of
2:15:10
Adam Curry: I have no intention of stopping this, our lawmakers
2:15:14
have no intention. They, they they believe they need social
2:15:18
media, they believe they need these companies to post their
2:15:21
own idiotic crap about their little, little viral moment that
2:15:26
they tried to do during the so called debates. It's all in the
2:15:29
internet was a mistake. Though
2:15:32
John C Dvorak: I've said that forever. So let's go watch clip
2:15:34
for
2:15:34
Unknown: Michael, I just want to show our viewers an example of
2:15:37
what you're talking about. The New York Times in your
2:15:39
investigation doesn't show the actual post, but you describe
2:15:43
what the post showed a nine year old in a golden bikini, lounging
2:15:48
on a towel. And then you show the comments section full of
2:15:52
sexually suggestive remarks. But Michael, it doesn't stop at the
2:15:56
comments. In every case, you describe a world in which the
2:16:00
girls are sucked in to this sort of internet underworld of sexual
2:16:05
predation. Right.
2:16:07
And that was what was truly disturbing in what we found.
2:16:12
Beyond the suggestive or predatory comments, some parents
2:16:17
actually received threats from some of the online, they would
2:16:23
reach out and accused them of exploiting their child and
2:16:28
threatening to contact their school or their family and
2:16:31
friends and seemingly exposed them. Because it is worth noting
2:16:35
that in you know, photos of children in dance conventions
2:16:41
are normal within that context. But within the context of the
2:16:46
internet, people bring to them in some cases, their own skewed
2:16:52
points of view. And so these men were trying to seemingly with
2:16:56
threats of blackmail, cause a lot of actual harm to the
2:17:02
families to
2:17:02
Adam Curry: making this all about creepy men. How about the
2:17:04
creepy Mom's doing this? Yeah, stop it.
2:17:09
John C Dvorak: I definitely like I said, that's the question that
2:17:11
was never asked how many of these moms and how much of this
2:17:14
is the moms whoring out their kids,
2:17:17
Adam Curry: we really need to speak up and speak out about
2:17:19
these black holes of evil and wickedness. This is horrible.
2:17:26
Unknown: Clip five. So it occurs to me, Michael, that this is not
2:17:29
just an investigation into risks that girls are taking online.
2:17:35
But a story about parents who are making the decision to put
2:17:39
their girls at potential risk of ovulating at the very least,
2:17:43
what is the biggest takeaway for moms who are thinking of letting
2:17:46
their daughters become influencers?
2:17:49
So as we said, you know, Instagram does allow parents to
2:17:52
run these accounts for them even when they're below 13. But what
2:17:58
we found was that it is very hard to do so in a safe way. And
2:18:03
that it may take hours every day of blocking creepy or possibly
2:18:08
predatory men from interacting with the account. And the real
2:18:14
life threats that this could lead to maybe we heard stories
2:18:19
of strange packages, showing up at people's doors and could go
2:18:24
from the online world into real life and affect your family was
2:18:28
a really strong takeaway for me,
2:18:31
Adam Curry: is very disturbing. This is a disturbing report. Do
2:18:34
you have a a analysis of this?
2:18:39
John C Dvorak: Yeah, I thought it was. It was just scratching
2:18:42
the surface. I think they found 5000 There's probably 20,000 Or
2:18:47
who knows how many. They don't mention anything about what
2:18:50
about a 13 year old doesn't need mom and she's decided to become
2:18:53
an influencer. And how did this influencer thing take off in the
2:18:57
first place? There's a lot of unanswered questions here.
2:19:00
Creepy or not? The whole thing this is bad.
2:19:04
Adam Curry: It's the entire business model of Instagram. It
2:19:06
is the business model of Instagram influencers. Yeah, and
2:19:11
there's money and people are dumb and they're not thinking
2:19:14
and the fact that they're just blocking and not reporting the
2:19:17
whole thing is wrong. It's very very wrong. And this will all be
2:19:23
added to kosa the kids Online Safety Act what is what this
2:19:27
will result in? I know this I guarantee it will be you cannot
2:19:34
be on any of these so called Social Media hellholes without
2:19:41
verified ID government ID you're going to that's where it's all
2:19:45
going to lead to anonymity will be gone mainly for the creepy
2:19:49
dudes but you will not be able to get an account unless it's
2:19:52
verified the government's gonna know it's going to end all the
2:19:55
cool anonymous so called free speech we have this is coming
2:19:59
down Oh, I think this report is a bowl of crap. You watch, there
2:20:04
John C Dvorak: is no way that the smart money can't get around
2:20:07
any of these restrictions by creating phony baloney
2:20:10
identities elsewhere in other countries using VPNs and Grand
2:20:15
Prix. I'm not saying it's going to India,
2:20:18
Adam Curry: I'm not saying you misunderstand what I'm saying.
2:20:21
I'm not saying it's going to fix it, that it will be required for
2:20:25
you to have an Instagram account as an American you will be
2:20:29
required to have to go through this process of verifying or
2:20:32
Twitter or Facebook or any of it that's what they're doing.
2:20:36
That's what they're setting up. It doesn't mean that it'll be
2:20:38
effective but that's that will be a requirement. Anything over
2:20:43
a million users will have that requirement I'm reading the law
2:20:48
I'm reading the bill that they're and the amendments
2:20:50
they're putting in there it's it's on its way.
2:20:53
John C Dvorak: Well, they're fooling themselves, but I
2:20:55
Adam Curry: didn't say I was going to fix it as long as
2:20:56
creepy moms will want to pour out their children that's never
2:21:00
going to stop
2:21:04
John C Dvorak: Yes. And with that you can conclude the
2:21:07
segment
2:21:08
Adam Curry: as a horrible segment I'm in desperate need of
2:21:11
a good news segment after I thank you for your courage and
2:21:14
say in the morning to you the man who put the sea and creepy
2:21:16
moms ladies and gentlemen say hello my friend on the other end
2:21:19
the morning Mr. John
2:21:24
John C Dvorak: Curtis and the millennial ships to see boots on
2:21:26
the ground feet in the air subs in the one that the names and
2:21:28
the nights out there and let us take
2:21:30
Adam Curry: a look at our trolls Hello beautiful trolls. Can you
2:21:32
please stop running around so I can catch up? Well, I have good
2:21:39
news. I have good news. On the previous Sunday we had 2040
2:21:44
Trolls today's count 2103 So we're up 6060 Trolls check again
2:21:51
300 No, we're not i This is literally I have the numbers. We
2:21:56
are We are up one we're up 63 From last Sunday. Yeah,
2:22:02
John C Dvorak: and that was low. Well by Sunday numbers should be
2:22:05
2400
2:22:07
Adam Curry: Well, the maybe you shouldn't be playing these
2:22:09
creepy mom clips.
2:22:10
John C Dvorak: It's no that that probably kept him creepy mom
2:22:17
clips are a winner. CMC
2:22:20
Adam Curry: baby CMCS creepy mom clips everybody. This is a value
2:22:25
for value program and our trolls check us out all the way through
2:22:29
the donation segment. We love having him here. You can join
2:22:32
them at troll room.io Or try out one of the modern podcast apps
2:22:36
pod verse cast thematic fountain, curio caster, podcast
2:22:41
guru podcast addict, you can find all of these at podcast
2:22:46
apps.com new features, you get a notification when we go live.
2:22:50
You get notified when we've posted a podcast. It works with
2:22:53
all your podcasts, you can import them from all those other
2:22:56
podcast apps.
2:22:59
John C Dvorak: And I love what I do has value
2:23:01
Adam Curry: for value, which we have been doing for the past 16
2:23:04
years. We do not break for commercials, we do not take any
2:23:08
creepy money from corporations. We don't we just put everything
2:23:13
out there for you to enjoy. You don't have to do anything for us
2:23:16
at all. But we do work on your guilty conscience. Because we're
2:23:21
putting all this effort and work into providing this value to
2:23:24
you. You can do whatever you want with it. We ask that you
2:23:28
return some value from time to time could be every single time
2:23:30
you listen to the show like that was valuable. I laughed. I
2:23:34
learned something I heard something I hadn't before. It's
2:23:37
you're not dealing here with controlled opportunists. We're
2:23:42
just trying to get everyone all riled and spun up. No, we're
2:23:45
just trying to break down the media and show you what's going
2:23:48
on in this overarching seal of reveal, reveal season of reveal.
2:23:52
There we go. So you can do that by sending value back to us
2:23:57
time, talent or treasure time and talent is hard for a lot of
2:24:01
people but some people are good at it, for instance are no
2:24:04
agenda artists. They like to listen live at in the usually at
2:24:09
the day jobs or doing something else. And then they just get on
2:24:12
the stick and start doodling around and try and create
2:24:15
artwork that we will then choose one for right after we're done
2:24:18
and post it. And we want to thank Darren O'Neill who really
2:24:22
understood exactly what we're talking about. And he did a meta
2:24:28
ai ai piece of album art. With a robot all Ai no doubt a robot
2:24:35
even with the hands wrong. He had
2:24:37
John C Dvorak: a right hand the left hand just got the thumb on
2:24:39
the wrong side. It
2:24:41
Adam Curry: was great. It was the best part. I wonder if that
2:24:44
was intentional. If the
2:24:45
John C Dvorak: AI screwed it up now the AI just does that. And
2:24:49
it but the whole
2:24:49
Adam Curry: thing was perfect. This was a viewer was painting
2:24:51
and no agenda sign. And it was good. I mean we looked at and
2:24:57
went you know set for the thumb but that That to me that made it
2:25:01
even better the show just how creepy and wrong all of this AI
2:25:05
is. It was a meta piece it was it was it was. It was actually
2:25:10
being sarcastic about him being critical
2:25:14
John C Dvorak: of him being sarcastic now, okay, I doesn't
2:25:17
have that sort of sense. No AI was very ironic
2:25:21
Adam Curry: down O'Neill has that sense. He knew how to use
2:25:25
it. Yeah. A lot of people don't. Now there were other pieces and
2:25:31
Gary's
2:25:31
John C Dvorak: got quite good at this.
2:25:34
Adam Curry: I have to say at prompt engineering.
2:25:37
John C Dvorak: Yeah, prompt engineers, not
2:25:38
Adam Curry: an artist. He's a prompt engineer. Yeah, well, he
2:25:41
John C Dvorak: was actually kind of pretty good as a as an
2:25:43
artist, but he's decided to give it up. Throw it to hell with it.
2:25:48
And now he's a prompt lumped in here which is really I'm
2:25:50
surprised he doesn't have the AI doing is rock and roll show
2:25:54
Adam Curry: is pre show him a may be AI for all we know, but
2:25:57
John C Dvorak: it could be pretty soon.
2:25:59
Adam Curry: We also like Tyler, bro, you like Tyler browns? Moon
2:26:03
Landing with the slate, which I nixed like now. It was too
2:26:07
simple.
2:26:08
John C Dvorak: Which one was this?
2:26:09
Adam Curry: It's the movie slate with the roll. 3030 I
2:26:12
John C Dvorak: liked that piece.
2:26:14
Adam Curry: I liked the super duper, which also from Darren
2:26:16
which you just wish
2:26:17
John C Dvorak: it had been going on whatsoever. Super duper.
2:26:21
That's
2:26:21
Adam Curry: your opinion.
2:26:22
John C Dvorak: There was no dimensionality. There wasn't any
2:26:25
other.
2:26:27
Adam Curry: Yeah, got it.
2:26:28
John C Dvorak: Use too small. You
2:26:29
Adam Curry: vetoed. It is too small. It's too small. It's
2:26:32
huge. We both kind of like comics or bloggers fake moon
2:26:37
landing. Kind of.
2:26:40
John C Dvorak: Yeah, it was cute. It's a nice patch.
2:26:42
Adam Curry: Yeah, I use it for the pre show announcement today.
2:26:46
And then I'm gonna see some other stuff all my fixes live in
2:26:51
Texas didn't really quite really quite hit home
2:26:54
John C Dvorak: it went to comic strip blogger also did the Dr.
2:26:57
Phil when next to it. And he's missing a finger it just is
2:27:05
gone. We're under what? Iteration five or six of this
2:27:08
art and they still can't get the hands right? It
2:27:10
Adam Curry: didn't even look like Dr. Phil didn't look like
2:27:14
him. No, that
2:27:15
John C Dvorak: was just a slice the microphone way up that
2:27:17
Adam Curry: guy dead? Yeah, because AI doesn't understand
2:27:20
audio. It doesn't
2:27:21
John C Dvorak: understand anything. I'm getting sick of
2:27:23
AI.
2:27:26
Adam Curry: Buckle up. Clip custodian nice little copy
2:27:31
editor red pencil, but now it didn't quite have it. I think
2:27:37
that was it. I mean, other things was anything else? No, I
2:27:42
think the AI prompt engineers are getting better though. If
2:27:47
they understand if they have it in their hearts and their souls
2:27:51
how to create, you know what a good piece of art should look
2:27:54
like. And they know how to create it. You know, it doesn't
2:27:55
matter what tool you use, I guess you still have to have
2:27:59
that funny bone mentality, or the or irony or something. So
2:28:07
that I just there wasn't anything else. there's anything
2:28:09
else you wanted to comment on? Nope. Well, thank you very much
2:28:14
Darren Darren O'Neill. That mean, his taste in music is
2:28:18
questionable.
2:28:22
John C Dvorak: As you already Taylor Swift as
2:28:23
Adam Curry: you always say, but this was a dynamite piece. We
2:28:27
really appreciate it. Thank you very much. And thank you to all
2:28:29
the artists for participating in this grand experiment. We try
2:28:32
out every single show twice a week. No agenda, art
2:28:35
generator.com. Thank you, Sir Paul couture for setting that up
2:28:38
and maintaining that for us. We love the new, the new style, the
2:28:41
new look, you can if you're listening live, you can go
2:28:43
there. And you can check it out in real time. Just refresh see
2:28:46
what's going on. Or if you use one of those modern podcast
2:28:49
apps, you'll see many more of these art pieces, as Dred Scott
2:28:53
uses most of them for the chapters which are of course
2:28:56
only available on modern podcast apps. Now let us thank the
2:29:00
treasurer portion, which means we have executive and Associate
2:29:04
Executive producers who helped us out and get not only kudos
2:29:09
for helping us at this level, but also receive an executive
2:29:13
producer or Associate Executive producer credit and I'm going to
2:29:16
be nice guy today. I'm gonna I'm gonna let you do the first one
2:29:18
and I'll take that huge one that comes right after it.
2:29:21
John C Dvorak: There's another one after that. Okay, well, this
2:29:23
one is $1,000. This is kind of an anomalous donation because I
2:29:27
went back
2:29:28
Adam Curry: it looks like 1100 to me not 1100 Yeah, I went
2:29:31
John C Dvorak: back and forth with Tsar Zarin Denzel because I
2:29:38
got a note from his brother. And his brother says, You can't use
2:29:43
my name. My brother just donated a bunch of money and he's gonna
2:29:46
you've given me the donation and I don't like your show. You
2:29:49
suck. And I don't want my name mentioned.
2:29:52
Adam Curry: He didn't say that he'd never heard the show.
2:29:55
John C Dvorak: Exactly. And so I sent that note to Zara and I
2:30:00
said, What is this? And he sent me a note back saying I didn't
2:30:03
know he's never listened to the show, I have no idea why he's
2:30:06
getting all bent out of shape. I never got the original note that
2:30:09
was crediting anybody. So I've got no real note from Zarn. And
2:30:14
I want if he has something he wants to tell us later, I will
2:30:17
be amenable to running it as a make good. But the there's
2:30:22
something missing here. And it's not the back and forth that I
2:30:24
did with him his brother that didn't
2:30:27
Adam Curry: Zarn donate on the previous show. Is that? No, it's
2:30:32
not where it came from. I thought that's where the problem
2:30:34
stem from? Whatever.
2:30:36
John C Dvorak: We got 1100 from him here, and we want to give
2:30:40
him a double up karma and we'll look for something in the
2:30:42
future. Yes.
2:30:43
Adam Curry: And the funny thing about the whole bit is that they
2:30:47
heard about the no agenda show in Europe on a train from some
2:30:50
random woman.
2:30:52
John C Dvorak: Yes, some woman in Switzerland. There you go. On
2:30:56
a train was promoting the no agenda show and they were a
2:31:01
dairy I guess oh cow check it out. And Zarin checked it out in
2:31:04
his brother. I guess it's just a net contrary. Now. Why would I
2:31:07
take the advice of some woman on the train? I got into nowhere
2:31:11
now. I'm not listening. All right. Here's
2:31:14
Adam Curry: the double up karma for you. Thank you. Sorry.
2:31:16
Unknown: You've got karma
2:31:20
Adam Curry: that we moved to Vincent viscounty from lantana,
2:31:26
Texas, and send us a very long note.
2:31:30
John C Dvorak: But you're lucky a lot of it doesn't need to be
2:31:32
read. Seems to me. Let me see
2:31:34
Adam Curry: how we do. Hello gents. Excuse me all of Gitmo
2:31:37
Nation. I'm very behind on shows. But I'm trying to catch
2:31:39
up since coming out of the COVID craze in 2021. I have never in
2:31:43
my life been so freaking busy. As I was reading the newsletter
2:31:48
last night, I came to the heart wrenching realization that it
2:31:51
has been way too long since making a producer level
2:31:53
contribution to the show. Thankfully, having set up a
2:31:56
monthly contribution, I only feel slightly douchebag is
2:31:59
nonetheless still a douchebag please dee doo
2:32:04
Unknown: dee doo. I'm
2:32:05
Adam Curry: gonna ask for essentially a switcheroo. He
2:32:08
says please give credit for this executive producer ship to my
2:32:11
smokin hot wife Sinead. In light of our recent anniversary and
2:32:15
her upcoming birthday. It's a two for one. And she always
2:32:18
appreciates a bargain. And our anniversary is on February 2,
2:32:21
which I recently discovered falls on the 33rd day of the
2:32:24
year. Furthermore, it is 333 days from the end of the year on
2:32:28
a leap year credit to my desktop calendar. This was not
2:32:32
intentional, but certainly destiny. And excuse me, I need a
2:32:37
lozenge. Also please give our beautiful human resource. EO a
2:32:42
if I'm gonna try pronouncing it backwards. The firewall if I
2:32:47
forget
2:32:48
John C Dvorak: it, elf
2:32:49
Adam Curry: Elfi I'm gonna say a ofI a happy I'm sorry kid.
2:32:55
John C Dvorak: I certainly can't pronounce your name. Why don't
2:32:58
you like in life?
2:32:58
Adam Curry: Why didn't you just give us a pronunciation guide
2:33:01
Why be so mean bra a happy 13th Birthday shout out she has been
2:33:05
a fan of the show since she was nine years old and is growing up
2:33:07
with a shrunken image
2:33:09
John C Dvorak: yet she needs it needs we need to know how to
2:33:11
pronounce yes yeah, we want to
2:33:12
Adam Curry: we definitely want to know how to pronounce her
2:33:14
name. That's kind of mean lastly we can get some new business
2:33:18
house selling and moving to Tennessee karma and our family
2:33:21
favorite jingle. The strain foamer guy sure keep up the
2:33:26
great work seriously don't stop or the world very might well
2:33:29
end. Sorry for the long note. I would have been a shorter note.
2:33:32
Had I had more time. Yeah. All right. Oh my god. You've got
2:33:43
karma. Sinead changing Sinead. Okay, so
2:33:49
John C Dvorak: now we have the if I can move this thing over
2:33:54
and this is going to take a second to get cleaned up. This
2:33:58
is command command command. I can read every Okay, Jake. Jake,
2:34:04
in God's country comes in with a it will click up I can't there
2:34:11
are 333 Okay. And I can actually barely read this note, but I
2:34:15
can. Turns out if I click on this thing,
2:34:19
Adam Curry: oh my goodness, just do it already.
2:34:23
John C Dvorak: You know, it's not as easy when the thing blows
2:34:25
out this spreadsheet. This is longer than the other note.
2:34:29
Millennial producer here and it's been far too long since
2:34:31
I've chipped in and he got 33 all over the place. I'll skip to
2:34:34
that. I'm an in private investing industry allocating
2:34:38
dollars for ultra high net worth families and institutions to
2:34:41
purchase equity positions in privately held companies. In my
2:34:46
travels, I deal with a spectrum of thoughts and ideologies. But
2:34:50
one thing I'm struggling to get behind is the thesis of handing
2:34:53
former President Trump the ticking time bomb as you both
2:34:57
are more likely aware of the Biden administration. He's doing
2:35:00
almost everything to prop up uncle Bernie for another weekend
2:35:04
or two. Not talking about Bernie Sanders No. The record oil
2:35:08
production which people don't want to discuss, uncapped debt
2:35:12
ceiling which people don't want to discuss phony jobs and
2:35:15
inflation data which we discuss does not sound like a team ready
2:35:19
to wave the white flag my prediction not to be heated as
2:35:22
financial advice is as follows. I thought this would be good to
2:35:25
read. And of course he puts a disclaimer in there because you
2:35:28
can't really take this advice no as financial advice you need to
2:35:32
go to an expert, your personal expert. Government continues to
2:35:37
spend like drunken sailors throughout the year will lead it
2:35:41
will lead to persistent inflation from three to 5%
2:35:44
Forcing no fed cuts in 2024 I'm down the SP five but
2:35:50
Adam Curry: I'm down I agree. I don't think there's going to be
2:35:52
any cuts they might raise it.
2:35:54
John C Dvorak: They're never gonna raise it. Not in an
2:35:56
election year never happened. SP 500 all time high will continue
2:36:02
throughout 2024 I think there will be a cut in Vidya is a
2:36:06
house of car yeah,
2:36:07
Adam Curry: I'm all in on that.
2:36:09
John C Dvorak: Yeah, when you don't know
2:36:12
Adam Curry: you shorted it on your game.
2:36:16
John C Dvorak: I heard your next I may have the next week I
2:36:19

2:36:23

2:46:16
you? Just something changed? I
2:46:17
John C Dvorak: went over modulated? Yeah. I don't know.
2:46:19
Why did that happen earlier in the show?
2:46:21
Adam Curry: Hmm.
2:46:22
John C Dvorak: Just out of the blue.
2:46:23
Adam Curry: Yeah, that's very odd. Strange. Something's going
2:46:26
on.
2:46:26
John C Dvorak: You're losing a capacitor in that pod thing?
2:46:31
Adam Curry: I hope not. I hope not. I was very strange and
2:46:34
wonderfully see. Oh, nice. See what the problem was? Somehow
2:46:40
the processing got turned off. Yeah, that'll do it. Okay. All
2:46:44
right. That should fix it. Now. Let me see. We always said we
2:46:48
have no nice things. No title changes. Just another plea. No

2:46:55
Unknown: No one. I like the

control rooms.
2:47:05
Adam Curry: The troll room said it was either a glitch or a
2:47:07
cyber attack. The spook spliced into the audio stream. Yeah, I
2:47:12
think I think it was all all the above. Hey, Jesse coy Nelson
2:47:16

Listener Chris listener since 2009. Proud member of the deuces

2:47:43

2:47:47
Andy. Oh shit I shouldn't have given my last day. Are there any
2:47:55
more people in Singapore that listens to this? Let us know.
2:47:58
Let us know.
2:48:00
This is Anthony Fauci. I came to this meetup because I want to
2:48:03
see how things are going in Asia with my shots in the morning.
2:48:08
Nice.
2:48:16
Adam Curry: Hey, there were people there. Hello, Singapore.
2:48:19
We need some donations from Singapore 11 out there. We got
2:48:22
stripe now. So you can use that. Speaking of Anthony Fauci. We
2:48:26
had dinner with a couple people last night. I love my
2:48:29
Fredericksburg people. The latest that I heard. Did you
2:48:33
know that Mother Teresa? That Anthony Fauci is actually, the
2:48:38
child of Mother Teresa and Mother Teresa is a dude. But you
2:48:43
didn't know that, did you?
2:48:45
John C Dvorak: Well, you know, looking at Mother Teresa, I can
2:48:48
kind of believe the last thing but then again, how could
2:48:51
Anthony Fauci be the son of Mother Teresa? No Mother
2:48:55
Adam Curry: Teresa's mother, Teresa fathered Anthony Fauci.
2:49:01
There was an there's a ghost moved to the right place. I love
2:49:05
this place. It's fantastic. I also love the guardians of
2:49:09
reality. They had a meet up in Florence, Kentucky, as Florence
2:49:13
y'all. Jen of the woodland Shire reported and she says that it
2:49:17
was great. They had many members of the shrunken amygdala, tre
2:49:21
Lea, Greg newcomer Michel and it was the topic of discussion
2:49:26
birthing stories, breastfeeding, doulas home I got trust policy
2:49:31
for wills carpentry needs on fixed income resources,
2:49:34
connection solutions, Bitcoin tax law for small business
2:49:38
religions, specifically Catholic Catholic and orthodoxy books and
2:49:43
authors. I mean, this is exactly didn't make a report obviously.
2:49:47
But this is exactly the kinds of stuff you can get into it or no
2:49:50
agenda meet up and the great thing is, it doesn't matter
2:49:52
where you're coming from, what angle you're coming from,
2:49:54
everybody loves each other. It's a great place to get connection
2:49:58
as you know that what he Do you drink? I'm
2:50:03
John C Dvorak: not eating anything.
2:50:04
Adam Curry: Are you drinking something? Do you crack? Uh,
2:50:05
can? You did? What did you do? What is it? What did you get?
2:50:11
John C Dvorak: I got the Pellegrino ah, there now let me
2:50:15
tell you what this is. It's Pellegrino, tangerine and wild
2:50:20
strawberry, a Sensia. Yum. And it tastes you know, it tastes
2:50:25
like, like bass like nothing. It tastes like plain unflavored
2:50:29
mineral water. Well, that's
2:50:30
Adam Curry: interesting because I always open my show beer. You
2:50:35
never call me on. But I am drinking a Waterloo, Blackberry
2:50:40
lemonade, and it tastes just like your thing. There's no
2:50:44
taste to this. He really should
2:50:47
John C Dvorak: have Blackberry. No, it tastes like mineral
2:50:49
strong flavored Berry.
2:50:52
Adam Curry: It tastes like mineral water. It really does.
2:50:54
It's like they forgot
2:50:56
John C Dvorak: they're just packing mineral I'm putting
2:50:57
phony baloney labels on everything.
2:51:01
Adam Curry: Hey, no agenda meetup.com
2:51:04
Unknown: Sometimes you want to go hang out with Dyson.
2:51:09
Adam Curry: No, I forgot some here. You
2:51:12
Unknown: won't be cheap. You
2:51:19
Adam Curry: I forgot to mention the meetups taking place on
2:51:22
Thursday, which is the North Georgia monthly meetup that'll
2:51:26
be at six o'clock at Cherry Street brewing in Alpharetta,
2:51:28
Georgia and also on Thursday the Denver leap here day meet up 630
2:51:32
bar 404 in Denver Colorado there's a whole lot for March
2:51:36
April. You definitely need to go to one of these you wouldn't you
2:51:40
there's no regretting going to a no agenda meetup. Prove me
2:51:44
wrong. No agenda meetups.com And now once again, this heavy news
2:51:57
we'll see everybody we'd like to end our show particularly where
2:52:02
we had credible ISOs. Want I'm completely off track here.
2:52:11
You're right. Yes. Okay. But you know, instead of saying when you
2:52:14
when you esos ASA you could have said Hey, you forgot the ISOs
2:52:18
Hey, I
2:52:18
John C Dvorak: forgot the ISO so thanks.
2:52:20
Adam Curry: Well, here's my ISO Oh, my lever. That's my only ISO
2:52:23
that's
2:52:24
John C Dvorak: probably why.
2:52:28
Adam Curry: Okay, what do you have ISO wise John sounds like
2:52:32
you got some really good ones.
2:52:33
John C Dvorak: They have three. Okay. Dynamite dynamite
2:52:38
Adam Curry: alive. That's, that's pretty good. That's
2:52:40
pretty good. You've
2:52:41
John C Dvorak: heard that wouldn't be fair. Yeah, that's
2:52:43
like GABA. Hashtag hashtag
2:52:45
Adam Curry: no agenda. It's too late.
2:52:49
John C Dvorak: Okay, thank you.
2:52:50
Adam Curry: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. No, I
2:52:52
think dynamite dynamite dynamite is the one that really Yes, I
2:52:56
like dynamite. You don't like dynamite?
2:52:58
John C Dvorak: No, I mean, I didn't dislike it but I thought
2:53:01
you'd pick the Thank You know, I have a betting pool on what you
2:53:05
pick
2:53:06
Adam Curry: for money.
2:53:07
John C Dvorak: I lost
2:53:09
Adam Curry: Who do you who was in the pool? Who are these nut
2:53:12
jobs?
2:53:13
John C Dvorak: And I can't say they won't they don't want their
2:53:14
names revealed?
2:53:16
Adam Curry: The lip Joe's the lip Joe's are listening. Yeah.
2:53:18
Lip Joes. Those guys
2:53:19
John C Dvorak: have stopped talking to me.
2:53:22
Unknown: Good good news.
2:53:23
Adam Curry: Good news. Good. Good news. Good news. All right.
2:53:26
Good news. Good news. Here we go. I'm sorry. I jumped the gun
2:53:29
on Yeah, just ever since that glitch. I was confused either.
2:53:33
John C Dvorak: Yes, the glitch, the glitch net which makes me
2:53:35
wonder if you're a i This is another not the same but a
2:53:44
different this is a dog rescue story from your neck of the
2:53:47
woods, Texas, Texas, Texas puppy
2:53:51
Unknown: love this morning on Good Morning El Paso or we
2:53:53
introduce you to a mother and her litter of pups that would
2:53:56
not have lived for us to tell this story. If it weren't for a
2:53:59
good Samaritan
2:54:02
got a call from a young lady that works by the for Border
2:54:06
Patrol out there and said that people are always dumping
2:54:09
animals out there and this is the second mama that they took
2:54:12
pictures of and sent to me and asked if I could help because
2:54:16
she was about ready to pop I mean she was so huge from having
2:54:19
so many puppies, nine
2:54:21
puppies to be exact and they are cuties. But Mama was in such bad
2:54:25
shape from being neglected and going without food and water for
2:54:28
so long. She had complications giving birth she had to have a C
2:54:31
section. So now to help her recover and to give her babies
2:54:34
the best chance at a healthy start there. Those babies are
2:54:37
now bottle fed every few hours.
2:54:40
This is truly a happy ending because she definitely wouldn't
2:54:44
have made it out there in the desert in the dirt and the
2:54:47
puppies wouldn't have made it either. They you know there's a
2:54:50
lot of coyotes and things going on so they would have probably
2:54:53
she might have been able to save one or two she's gonna go to a
2:54:56
forever home and to know that her babies are well taken care
2:55:00
drove. I think we did good. Like 6k I
2:55:03
think they all did good. Thanks to Animal Rescue League, these
2:55:06
little guys can now be adopted. And by the way, there's another
2:55:08
mama dog she mentioned at the beginning of that piece who was
2:55:11
saved with a very similar story. So double the puppies, if you're
2:55:14
looking to adopt a furry family member of your own, because a
2:55:17
lot of people do want a puppy and there's nothing wrong with
2:55:19
wanting a puppy and now there are plenty to choose from and
2:55:21
who can say no to
2:55:22
those adorable faces? Right? I will say I have four dogs at
2:55:25
home trying to rescue two cats. Everyone can just take it
2:55:28
another dog.
2:55:29
Adam Curry: No, no, not everyone can just take it another dog.
2:55:33
But, John, a great good news story. I feel good. Like I feel
2:55:39
very positive now.
2:55:47
Unknown: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
2:55:50
Adam Curry: Everybody should feel good after that. How could
2:55:53
you not?
2:55:54
John C Dvorak: It's just dying puppies rescued is
2:55:57
Adam Curry: just good. It's just all good. I'm ready. Now I'm
2:56:02
ready to complete my Sunday. With that feeling of good news,
2:56:06
it really counterbalances the creepy moms. vetoing those
2:56:13
stories can't do that anymore. We have some end of show mixes
2:56:18
we got the clip custodian Neal Jones himself kicking it off,
2:56:21
followed by Professor J. Jones from China and Phantom Ville,
2:56:25
all brand new all fresh all the time. And after this program
2:56:31
ends, you will be seamlessly switched over to behind the
2:56:34
schemes with blueberry and lavish. So just keep listening
2:56:39
in your modern podcast app or at troll room.io And please
