John C Dvorak: Hey, we're all broke. Adam curry, John C.
0:03
Dvorak.
0:05
Adam Curry: February 23 2023 industries your award winning
0:08
keep our nation media assassination episode 1532. This
0:11
is no
0:12
Unknown: agenda, speaking in real time and
0:15
Adam Curry: broadcasting live from the heart of the Texas hill
0:18
country here in February. Tip number six in the morning,
0:20
everybody. I'm Adam curry,
0:22
John C Dvorak: and from Northern Silicon Valley where I'm not
0:24
taking part in the sandwich eating thing. I'm Jesse Devorah.
0:32
Adam Curry: Sandwich eating thing Do tell.
0:36
John C Dvorak: So I'm watching poda and Jenna, as I would do
0:40
every morning.
0:41
Adam Curry: Yeah, of course on GMA a part three.
0:46
John C Dvorak: And
0:49
Adam Curry: we'd sad life you have, sir, if that's what
0:52
John C Dvorak: was missing in action. They had some guy from
0:54
the show, there's some other guy whose name I can never recall.
0:58
And they were discussing the biggest thing going on on the
1:00
internet, right? Oh, here's how to eat a sandwich. This is how
1:04
bad has become this is bringing me back to the blogging days
1:08
where you people would blog? Yes, I ate a cheese sandwich
1:11
today. And that would be their blog post.
1:15
Adam Curry: This plays into something I wanted to talk with
1:17
you about how convenient?
1:19
John C Dvorak: Well, I wouldn't be convening because you keep up
1:21
with this stuff. You'd probably all
1:24
Adam Curry: understand. Yeah, I'm all in on the sandwich
1:25
thing. No, I'm gonna tie into your newsletter, where you
1:29
notice that the newsletter was not as effective as it used to
1:32
be? I mean, do you want to just briefly summarize what you what
1:37
you wrote?
1:38
John C Dvorak: Yeah, I was bitching that the generally
1:41
speaking, they pay pal donations that come in at the moment a
1:45
newsletter sent out or increased by a certain percentage of the
1:49
original number in his formula. Yeah. And that has been not
1:54
working recently, for some reason. And I got a lot of notes
1:58
from everybody saying, hey, the notes all had the same theme.
2:03
Hey, we're all broke. And I'm thinking, Oh, gee, Joe Biden
2:09
says it economy's booming.
2:12
Adam Curry: Every note says we're all broke. That's
2:14
interesting.
2:15
John C Dvorak: Yeah, pretty much. I think that's the
2:17
thematically denotes all said, we're all broke.
2:23
Adam Curry: Something else is going on here. And you
2:26
identified it and I prove I put a link to to this in in the show
2:31
notes. On May 25 of 2021. You wrote an essay titled The death
2:39
of expertise and the rise of the Internet. So this was mid
2:43
pandemic. And you penned this yourself and I shall just read
2:48
the opening paragraph.
2:50
John C Dvorak: We'll use pins to go on which but go on.
2:53
Adam Curry: Thank you, Kara. I will read it. Yeah, you're
2:57
always doing it. The modern Internet has become a hopeless
3:01
cesspool of lies misinformation, Mal information, bad intentions,
3:06
ignorant good intentions and half truths. Outright hoaxes,
3:10
slander, cruelty, as well as a refuge for creeps, criminals,
3:13
thieves, phonies, agent provocateurs, wouldn't be
3:16
revolutionary predators, useless in fake reviews, Satanist, and
3:21
worse. Linking the entire globe of all the subsystems of
3:25
corporate archives, personnel records, medical information,
3:29
electrical grid interactions, and more will turn out to be the
3:32
dumbest thing humanity has ever done. This is one of my favorite
3:37
pieces from you. And I think you're absolutely correct. Now
3:42
you go on to say that we should basically shut the internet
3:45
down, which I think you could have for years to have a debate
3:48
over that. But there's something else going on that ties into
3:52
this. And I noticed it this week, as I was I was watching
3:58
some videos that someone sent me and let me see if I got this.
4:03
And it was Yeah, here it is. It was a deep fake of Rogen and
4:10
Peterson that just listen to this. Yeah, just listen to this
4:13
because it's I'm astounded about just how good this really is.
4:16
All right, Jordan, I've been hearing a lot about Peppa Pig
4:20
lately. What's all the fuss about the show? Well, Joe, you
4:23
know Peppa Pig it's not just a bloody kid show it has a lot of
4:26
layers to it. There's actually a political dimension to Peppa Pig
4:29
that a lot of people overlook. Wow, really? I never thought
4:32
about that. What do you mean by political dimension? Hold that
4:36
Okay, so this goes on and I think in general I mean, I can
4:39
hear it pretty quickly that this is what we would call so called
4:42
Deep fake it would it what would video so that actually distracts
4:46
from from the trick? Because you know, the mouse never really
4:50
worked the mouse are not there yet. But I realized that people
4:55
who listen to podcast a in 1.5 or two times speed Do you really
5:01
can't separate facts from fiction when you're doing that,
5:05
because the, in general, you're now already used to a
5:09
particularly for us like overcast, smart speed feature
5:12
which chops out silences. You know, you're getting a choppy
5:17
version, you're really training your brain to accept horrible,
5:22
horribly faked audio as probably real and good because that's
5:27
what you're listening to. And, and here's the thing I posted
5:32
something just to kind of throw it out there to the effect of,
5:35
if you listen to podcasts at 1.5 or two point times speed, you
5:41
will not be able to detect the AI phony AI stuff in the future.
5:47
You know, the choice is yours, whatever.
5:49
John C Dvorak: You know, I saw you going back and forth on the
5:51
no agenda social with this argument. Yes. And I never
5:57
realized that you base it on the Peppa Pig.
6:00
Adam Curry: That's where it started. And the amount of
6:04
people who listen at high speed is astounding. And I think that
6:12
you're allowed. I mean, what's happening here? Because I've
6:16
asked many people well, you know, why do you do that? Well,
6:18
I can I can do more my day, I can read more more sub stacks, I
6:21
can listen to more podcasts. If your amygdala is completely out
6:27
of whack, if you're doing this, I believe that your nervous
6:31
system is being hijacked. It's very unhealthy. This is
6:35
analogous to Hitler changing, you know, the age from four for
6:40
432 to 440. You know whether that was true or not, but when
6:44
when things are not in tune when they're not resonating because
6:47
they're human. They I think this is really bad for you. And what
6:51
I see happen is, is everyone is now doing outrage, podcasting.
6:58
We got someone who responded to the newsletter says, How come
7:02
you didn't start with the with Ohio? Why wasn't that your lead?
7:06
Well, first of all, we're not a news program. We don't do
7:08
leaves. You know, we don't have a meeting about what we're going
7:12
to do. You know, it's unscripted. I don't know maybe
7:15
47,000 people dead and turkeys more important didn't start with
7:19
that either. But I see Tucker Carlson opening his show was 20
7:25
minutes on Don Lemon. You know, it's like people are consuming
7:31
so much and they get so riled up like, Hey, man, you Don's gonna
7:35
save us Twitter files is the truth or don't run the sentence
7:39
he's gonna save us. Rhonda Santas all he's talking about
7:43
his woke culture. James O'Keefe will rise again. No, no, this
7:50
isn't your have been hide your nervous systems have been
7:53
hijacked. When you find when you find yourself yelling at
7:57
podcasts agreeing that yeah, Joe Biden should be in Ohio. Not
8:02
it's like sure that you've lost the overall plot of what's going
8:06
on and they're winning. They are winning. And I think you know,
8:11
this, this dopamine hits, this is what podcasts are now it goes
8:19
from Megyn Kelly outrage outrage out when she's still mad at
8:24
Meghan Markel, for some reason to the pool boy, you know, who
8:27
will yell about this stuff incessantly. So I just want to
8:32
warn everybody that I think you're out of resonance when
8:35
you're when you're listening to podcasts at high speed and why?
8:39
Why are you doing this? And if it's to cram in more, no, don't
8:44
drink from a fire hose like that. Anyway, so it reminded me
8:48
of that piece of yours from from 2021. It's like, yeah, that's
8:52
that's where we're at. Now,
8:54
John C Dvorak: as a good piece. By the way, there's
8:55
Adam Curry: a very good piece.
8:57
John C Dvorak: Now, I'm not going to disagree with anything
9:00
you had to say. And I think people should be listened to I
9:02
think, listening to a podcast in the background while you're
9:05
doing something else, which is what a lot of people do, I think
9:08
is, is okay. But But jamming it in at 1.5. Because it's all it's
9:14
three hours. Oh, I can't I don't have time for that. Well, you
9:17
don't you have podcasts or not television? No, even though the
9:21
best television is, as I think it was, some of the early
9:24
producers in the 50s and 60s would talk about television as
9:27
being casual. So a good TV show, sitcom or other when they were
9:33
more popular. This doesn't apply to dramas as much, but to
9:36
sitcoms where you can just come and go you don't have to sit and
9:41
watch the whole show. You can just watch bits and pieces of it
9:44
while you do other things. Yeah was considered the way to do
9:48
television back in the day. This
9:49
Adam Curry: is another point that I'd like to bring up. Why
9:52
do you need to watch people with headphones on and microphones in
9:55
front of their faces
9:56
John C Dvorak: but that joke a that's a I think that's a
9:59
different time. But but it's part of that most of it that
10:03
makes no sense sense at all to me that
10:07
Adam Curry: I want to I want to see people you can blame Howard
10:10
John C Dvorak: Stern for that
10:12
Adam Curry: was it though
10:13
John C Dvorak: now you will edge also that other guy that guy the
10:16
the the outrage
10:21
Adam Curry: outro Well which one pick them
10:25
John C Dvorak: but I'm talking about the what the outrage guy
10:27
who went on and and video at his radio show
10:33
Adam Curry: Alex Jones
10:34
John C Dvorak: No no no this up to a pure radio guy. Famous
10:39
Imus, Imus Yeah,
10:41
Adam Curry: I miss Don Imus Imus in the Morning.
10:44
John C Dvorak: I think I miss babe in the first guy maybe?
10:46
Yeah, well, all radio
10:48
Adam Curry: stations around the world do it now and but people
10:51
are drawn to it. I'm not quite sure why. But anyway, my point
10:54
is, I just don't think it's healthy because you are missing
10:59
context. Forget, forget that I've that. I think we're making
11:02
art here. That's okay. Art. You know, I always say, would you
11:07
jog past the Mona Lisa, jog past the Mona Lisa, don't take a look
11:10
at it. But that but besides that is just not healthy. And I worry
11:15
for people who don't see what's happening. And it's like Gene,
11:20
sir gene man, he listened he he recommends people listen to his
11:24
own podcast and 1.5 speed. This is crazy. Let's do this.
11:31
John C Dvorak: Hello. Now while I'm talking to you, and you hear
11:34
me in normal speed, stop it. Okay.
11:38
Adam Curry: Hopefully that'll come through to
11:40
John C Dvorak: people. I think that overlooked point here
11:42
because you've gone past it is that if you listen at 1.5 speed,
11:46
you will never hear a deep fake.
11:48
Adam Curry: No, the exactly. You won't hear the deep fakes.
11:52
John C Dvorak: You can you can be buffaloed and
11:55
Adam Curry: it's getting better. It really is this kind of here's
11:59
an example of one because you know, of course our president
12:03
was in Ukraine. Lottie da so here's this shows up. Biden hot
12:10
mic in Poland, these three objects for most likely, this is
12:14
Biden answering some questions and then he walks away. And then
12:18
the press are yelling at him. And apparently he has a hot mic
12:22
batch backstage wounds tied
12:23
Unknown: to private companies studying whether or conducting
12:26
other scientific research
12:37
Adam Curry: is good. If you can hear. Do you think they bought
12:42
that bullshit? And someone says Yeah, completely, sir. All
12:45
right. Let's get out of here. I mean, you can't even hear it.
12:48
You can't even hear it. Listen to it. Normally.
12:50
John C Dvorak: I think that's the way you have to do it.
12:53
Adam Curry: Well, I did that kind of hot mic stuff.
12:55
John C Dvorak: But if you're gonna do a fake Hi, Hi, Mike.
12:57
Yeah, but it
12:58
Adam Curry: was bad. It was a bad fake because I heard it a
13:00
waiter says that's not that's not Biden. That's not the same
13:02
Biden who just walked off stage
13:04
John C Dvorak: No, but no, at the end of his speech, Biden's
13:06
not going to be that area died. He's going to be tired. Right?
13:10
But you have to have a tired stumbling. You have to have a
13:14
hot Biden at the beginning.
13:16
Adam Curry: But if you listen to it at double speed you're gonna
13:20
miss it. Oh, god, that's great. Let me send it to Adam. Let me
13:25
post it on telegram and I've been catching haha man. I can't
13:31
believe you know the Matt Lee clip. This is another problem we
13:33
have which relates to your article The Matt Lee clip of him
13:37
braiding as it Jake, I guess about a week or or about about
13:49
NATO moving closer to Russia. Turns out that was from 2019. I
13:53
guess we'd missed that clip. Because if I if I hear a clip I
13:56
usually detect that we played it before. But the internet is a
14:00
cesspool. And all I'm seeing now so
14:03
John C Dvorak: you found that was for 2019 year must have been
14:06
are very, very,
14:07
Adam Curry: very irksome. Yes, of course. Of course. That
14:10
happens.
14:11
John C Dvorak: I didn't catch it either. I didn't know that there
14:13
was an old clip we you know people shouldn't should be
14:16
careful like everyone so I get an old clip for someone I said
14:19
did you look at the date on that clip and then they get very
14:21
embarrassed. But yeah, it's that's a huge problem.
14:25
Adam Curry: Like apparently, you know, Biden fell up the stairs
14:28
again, leaving Poland and people were sending me the old clip of
14:32
him following
14:33
John C Dvorak: that same old clip. Yeah. Anyway, we'll leave
14:38
it did the one I saw recently and I don't know what it was.
14:41
Nobody else seems to be able to identify the one who
14:43
Adam Curry: fell down from halfway down the stairs. That
14:47
was the back of the plane. So I must have been pressed as
14:50
different. I'm just saying it because I love everybody and I
14:54
see that you're you've been captured, and the more people I
14:57
see who are yelling at you Yeah, you know, literally like Elon is
15:02
gonna save us Twitter files. No, no, no one's coming to save you.
15:09
You know, and goldsworth We definitely have to talk about
15:12
Project Veritas. But I don't know if James O'Keefe is going
15:16
to rise again and save all of you. The only thing that can
15:19
save you is you and your community, probably best
15:22
community you have is the no agenda show go to a meet up.
15:26
Because all of the rest is just it's really going downhill to
15:30
the to the fact where it's hard to even get anything from our
15:34
own media that is worthwhile. I'm not gonna clip something
15:37
about how Fox News is trying to take down CNN as the lead story
15:43
in primetime 20 minutes of Donald Lamont okay, very funny
15:47
the first time you said it, you know, this is this is this,
15:50
these are the stories
15:53
John C Dvorak: or this thing is getting a little a little old to
15:56
Adam Curry: be lead story. So, I was like, Wow, all right. Enough
16:01
complaining i
16:02
John C Dvorak: It's only that was a good day. I was a lot of
16:04
complaining at the beginning. Yeah,
16:06
Adam Curry: I want to look out for everybody. I love everybody.
16:08
And I'm I'm kind of concerned about this. Blow me this. About
16:13
people listening. It's not good for you. It's not harmonious. it
16:17
hijacks your nervous system when you do this with a podcast. Now,
16:21
let's play a super
16:22
John C Dvorak: card away since you mentioned him. You mentioned
16:26
the pool man. I find I find that the definitive clip of em in a
16:30
nutshell.
16:32
Adam Curry: Okay. And also, I think it's not a good idea for
16:35
shows to be bashing other shows.
16:38
John C Dvorak: I agree with that. But this is just a just
16:40
Tim Poole in a nutshell ISO. Second together ISOs Oh, yeah,
16:45
Adam Curry: I got here we go.
16:46
Unknown: Now I'm gonna burst your bubble everybody.
16:50
Adam Curry: Yeah, exactly. Breaking up breaking breaking.
16:54
John C Dvorak: I let me listen to one of his shows because he
16:57
was he went on one topic for like an hour. Did he bust your
17:00
bubble wild?
17:01
Adam Curry: Do you bust your bubble?
17:02
John C Dvorak: He says that phrase. Uh huh. At least once
17:07
every 15 minutes.
17:11
Adam Curry: I've got to bust your bubble, everybody. Here's a
17:17
supercut of your media. We're not talking about John Lamont of
17:23
CNN. Here's how they talk about the very courageous President of
17:28
the United States of America. Joe Biden
17:31
Unknown: has put solidarity ahead of his own personal safety
17:34
air raid
17:34
sirens and no real guarantee of security as air raid sirens
17:39
blaring
17:40
was incredibly dramatic. Andrea, it was historic as well
17:43
historic,
17:44
timely, and brave, the first American President to go to a
17:48
warzone. Though US military presence for security on the
17:51
ground.
17:51
American presidents have made dramatic trips before Nixon to
17:54
China, Kennedy Reagan to the Berlin Wall and presidents have
17:57
visited US troops in war zones but never like this
18:00
to find a day of this kind of presidential bravery in a war
18:04
zone.
18:04
You've got to go all the way back to 1864. With Biden's trip
18:09
to Europe, you
18:09
know he is he is welcomed as not only the frankly the savior of
18:13
Ukraine, but also the savior of Europe as a whole is historic.
18:17
It's
18:17
the first time that a US president has gone into an
18:19
active war zone that the US military does not have control
18:23
over and against all odds. It was successful.
18:27
The continuing threat quite literally sounding all around
18:30
the two leaders.
18:31
This guy's here are not safe. And in fact an air raid siren
18:34
went off while President Biden
18:36
was here
18:37
seeing the American President they're walking the streets of
18:40
tea while air raid sirens literally sounded in that
18:44
moment. about possible incoming fire from Russia of the wail of
18:48
an air raid siren air raid sirens
18:51
wailing in the background, seemingly undeterred by an air
18:54
raid siren undeterred,
18:56
by the sound of air sirens, President Biden's ability
18:59
with aviators on
19:01
broad daylight and keys, the swagger
19:04
of this trip, not just the execution of the secrecy, but
19:08
the swagger of it on display on the streets of Kyiv.
19:11
Adam Curry: Oh man, just swagger, the swagger of it
19:13
John C Dvorak: the guy can barely walk this and by the way,
19:16
anybody who listen to any reasonable report on this said
19:20
the Air Race Island was fake.
19:22
Adam Curry: Completely phony hadn't been one for five days.
19:26
The minute he steps onto the streets, they they let it go
19:28
off.
19:29
John C Dvorak: If this was Trump, all you do to hear the
19:32
same eight holes that you just heard all talking about photo
19:36
op, and we went in there for a photo op with a phony siren.
19:40
Adam Curry: Exactly. Now, it went even deeper, very
19:43
respectful people here on CNN, Doug Brinkley, what is it, what
19:47
it what it reminds you have
19:48
Unknown: Doug, who as our resident historian here placed
19:50
this in the context in the pantheon of presidential visits
19:53
to
19:54
Adam Curry: place this in the context of the pantheon of
19:56
presidential visits. warzones presidents have visited Iraq and
19:59
have You understand in recent years, but those were US wars.
20:02
This is a Ukrainian war. I love this. It was a US war. This is
20:06
Ukrainian. We have nothing to do with this.
20:08
John C Dvorak: There's nothing to do.
20:09
Adam Curry: There's no US soldiers involved anywhere. No
20:12
advisors, no one, no one, no training, nothing. I mean, we're
20:16
not in control of this area at all our weapons, but we're not
20:19
in control. No US military presence on the ground, how
20:22
significant. It's extremely
20:24
John C Dvorak: significant. The United States is wedded more to
20:27
the Ukraine than ever before. I go back to history and think of
20:31
Roosevelt and Churchill,
20:33
Adam Curry: I love a guy who's a historian who says the Ukraine,
20:36
that's it that always makes me feel like the guy's a good
20:38
historian
20:39
John C Dvorak: to the Ukraine than ever before. I go back to
20:43
history and think of Roosevelt and Churchill, when FDR had to
20:46
sneak off in the dead of night even had a body double at one
20:49
point to first meet Winston Churchill, off the coast of
20:53
Newfoundland. And then of course, you had all those World
20:55
War Two found
20:57
Adam Curry: newfound land. Even I would say Newfoundland, but
21:02
now newfound land off the coast
21:04
John C Dvorak: of Newfoundland. And then of course, you had all
21:06
those world war two meetings between Churchill, it's worth
21:10
mentioning Churchill, co Solinsky, has been called the
21:13
Church of Our generation by going there today, I think it's
21:18
going to be a moment and for the history books, when John F.
21:22
Kennedy went to Berlin, on 1961, and gave a speech at the height
21:27
of the Cold War, Ukraine is the new Berlin, it's the rallying
21:30
point for NATO in the Western Allies. And I think Biden did
21:36
something really
21:37
Adam Curry: heroic. It's the new Berlin,
21:39
John C Dvorak: take down that wall.
21:41
Adam Curry: It's got to be something like well, actually,
21:45
Putin, President Putin had a speech he addressed the nation,
21:49
I guess he addressed the his, his military and all the muckety
21:53
mucks. He does that several times a year. And it was about
21:58
an hour and a half. And that were a couple of translated
22:00
versions. I picked a clip from what I thought was a lady who
22:05
did a just a great job on translating, I love for nuances
22:09
Unknown: want to create conflict situations, situations at our
22:12
borders, by new European do the same pattern all along in the
22:17
whole 20th century. It's to when you where you turn any form of
22:23
action against Russia, we are not waging war with the Ukraine,
22:31
as we know that they are in a hostage situation. They have
22:35
been politically and militarily occupied by the Westerners.
22:44
Cranium. Industry, a natural riches were plundered, and it's
22:51
led to social degradation. And we just, it's really not
22:57
difficult to see why military actions have to be launched bgn
23:04
it was all with the perfect pad. The idea was to turn them into a
23:13
pool conditioner. And this the responsibility of the Western
23:24
elites of military elites of lots of foreigners to the
23:29
Ukrainian regime down not trying to support the interest of the
23:34
Ukrainian people. They are dressed using this as
23:44
they want to take it. They have launched new offensives.
23:50
Adam Curry: All right. So this is kind of the story we know.
23:52
And I and it was interesting that Putin says, Well, you know,
23:55
they're in a hostage situation, we have to, we have to go save
23:59
them. As if coordinated. Former President Trump clearly a puppet
24:07
for Putin, from his new Trump club. 47. Always a marketing man
24:14
that said this,
24:16
Unknown: World War Three has never been closer than it is
24:19
right now. We need to clean house of all of the war mongers
24:23
and America last globalist and the deep state, the Pentagon,
24:27
the State Department and the National Security industrial
24:31
complex. One of the reasons I was the only president in
24:35
generations who didn't start a war is that I was the only
24:38
president who rejected the catastrophic advice of many of
24:42
Washington's generals, bureaucrats and the so called
24:46
diplomats who only know how to get us into conflict, but they
24:50
don't know how to get us out. For decades, we've had the very
24:54
same people such as Victoria Nuland, and many others just
24:59
like her up faced with pushing Ukraine toward NATO, not to
25:03
mention the State Department support for uprisings in
25:07
Ukraine. These people have been seeking confrontation for a long
25:11
time, much like the case in Iraq than other parts of the world.
25:16
And now, we're teetering on the brink of world war three. And a
25:20
lot of people don't see it, but I see it. And I've been right
25:23
about a lot of things. They all say Trump's been right about
25:26
everything, all of them, none of this excuses in any way, the
25:30
outrageous and horrible invasion of Ukraine one year ago, which
25:35
would have never happened if I was your president, not even a
25:39
little chance.
25:41
Adam Curry: So a very interesting what he says there,
25:46
at least, let's take those two things together at Deutsche
25:49
Avella, you know, we have to go outside of our own borders to
25:51
get any kind of media to deconstruct or that's even worth
25:54
playing. Because it's about Dungloe mom, Deutsche Avella,
25:59
did a report on where most of the Ukrainians fled to. Now this
26:04
was eye opening. Because I think it's five or 7 million people
26:09
have fled Ukraine. We know that many of them have gone to
26:12
Europe. But let's really find out where most people fled from
26:16
Ukraine and where they went to.
26:17
Unknown: The United Nations says that since the invasion last
26:21
February, more than 8 million Ukrainians have left their
26:25
homeland. So where are they now let's take a look at the map. It
26:30
may surprise you. Top of the list, believe it or not, Russia,
26:34
it has taken in 2.8 5 million new grads. That's the number
26:40
that have crossed the border since last February, after
26:43
Russia, Poland. It's a very supportive neighbor of Ukraine,
26:46
which we've reported on numerous times it has seen an influx of
26:49
more than one and a half million Ukrainians in the past year. And
26:54
then right here in Germany, more than 1 million Ukrainians have
26:57
arrived here since the war began the capital Berlin where we are
27:01
has registered more than 100,000 Ukrainians. Then there is the
27:07
Czech Republic, which is taken in and you see right there
27:10
500,000 Ukrainians, they've sought refuge there that is the
27:15
equivalent of about 5% of that country's population. These are
27:21
big numbers, big movements of people.
27:24
Adam Curry: Yeah, who would have known almost 3 million went to
27:26
Russia, because you know, they hate Russia.
27:33
John C Dvorak: Well, you have to assume those are the Donbass
27:35
people, because a lot of them, a lot of which are Russians base
27:38
didn't there's a lot of Russians in Ukraine, a lot of Ukrainians
27:41
in Russia. Oh,
27:43
Adam Curry: I'm a little unclear about where we're sending all of
27:47
these weapons.
27:49
John C Dvorak: Oh, but some of them are probably going to
27:51
Somali, the Ukrainians were going to other parts of Africa
27:56
via Ukraine, and I'm sure they who knows what's going on with
27:59
the bullets. I mean, they're supposed to be this way where I
28:02
was listening to one report. Well, it's an artillery war is
28:05
what is artillery wood there? What's the need for all these
28:07
bullets?
28:08
Adam Curry: I mean, this is France 24. There on the Eastern
28:11
Front, surprising report.
28:13
Unknown: We just back from the eastern front line in this
28:17
ongoing and intense conflict. And the situation there remains
28:22
very difficult indeed, our team was in the trenches alongside
28:26
Ukrainian soldiers operating an artillery unit, the material
28:31
dated from the 1970s to Viet union.
28:35
Adam Curry: How come they're using 1970 stuff? Didn't we say
28:39
this is the front line? Right? Yeah, the
28:42
John C Dvorak: front line should have are a good stuff, how come
28:44
are the 1970s style stuff,
28:46
Unknown: and they say they are struggling to get enough
28:49
ammunition for that they're worried about that, as they head
28:52
forward into spring and into the summer when they would hope to
28:55
be going on the offensive at the moment. They're trying to hold
29:00
the Ukrainian line in the face of waves and waves of Russian
29:05
soldiers men advancing, which they see with drone technology.
29:09
So that push very much underway, they say, and they are firing
29:13
1000s of cells every day to try and hold the line.
29:18
Adam Curry: None of this makes sense.
29:20
John C Dvorak: Know that what you just said if you start to
29:22
think about it, there's only one real front line. Which is that
29:29
where she was? Yeah. And they don't ask where all our stuff
29:33
should be where where's our stuff? As you said
29:35
Adam Curry: in Africa? Uh, yeah. It's, it's already moving down.
29:40
I mean, the mercenaries from what I understand are already
29:43
moving down to Africa getting ready for the next confrontation
29:46
and
29:46
John C Dvorak: action going to take place in Africa. I
29:48
Adam Curry: think you have to bite us right? That's right.
29:51
John C Dvorak: Here's a couple of clips from die. You made this
29:54
comment earlier. You have to go out of the country to get a
29:56
news. Pretty much all my clips today are from China. some
30:02
podcasts in NHK lot of na
30:05
Adam Curry: TAS I hope we listened to them real fast.
30:08
John C Dvorak: I do always listen to 1.75 Ooh, nice. Sounds
30:13
like they all sound like Trini Lopez. So if I had a hammer
30:18
there's a reference. Nobody got it. I got it. Yeah, you would
30:22
get a job in Ukraine. China kvetching NHK.
30:26
Unknown: China's Foreign Minister says
30:28
certain countries should stop fueling the fire in the Ukraine
30:32
conflict. Shingon was apparently referring to the US and its
30:36
allies don't want to tumble which China
30:38
is deeply worried about the conflict could spiral out of
30:42
control.
30:43
Chen was speaking to stay in Beijing. This comes after
30:47
Washington issued its own warning to Beijing. US Secretary
30:51
of State Antony Blinken on Saturday told China's top
30:54
diplomat one way that he's concerned Beijing may provide
30:57
lethal support to Russia. Beijing had bagged by saying
31:01
it's the US and not China that's been sending weapons to the
31:05
battlefield in Ukraine.
31:07
Adam Curry: Yeah, this this is now a narrative that I'm hearing
31:11
in the US media in the Western media is Oh, China. So now
31:16
they're and that's exactly how they do it. What China? They're
31:20
John C Dvorak: really this pronunciation of Bae Jin Zhen is
31:25
Adam Curry: new for me.
31:27
John C Dvorak: I've never heard it before, but that's what
31:28
they're calling it. That just reminds me to Turkey. Ah,
31:31
Turkey. Turkey.
31:33
Adam Curry: Let me go ahead.
31:35
John C Dvorak: Maybe we're gonna just start calling it Bae Jin
31:37
Adam Curry: Jin, I like Beijing. I left my chin in obey Jin.
31:43
Here's Meet the Press with Chip chip. Chuck Chuck Todd Gregory
31:46
with Antony Blinken bringing in the Chinese
31:49
Unknown: this concern that China is considering belief of
31:52
potential lethal aid in this war to Russia. What evidence can you
31:56
share with us? That indicates your concern that they're going
32:00
to escalate their help to Russia, as you said they've been
32:03
helping them rhetorically. They've been helping them maybe
32:06
by buying cheap oil. But what is the other evidence that you have
32:09
here that they're thinking about doing more? Well, China's having
32:13
tried to have it both ways, publicly present themselves.
32:18
Adam Curry: China's gonna have it both ways. There. There
32:20
really is this smokin hot these Chinese man, China's having
32:24
tried to have it both ways. Publicly, they present
32:28
themselves as a country striving for for peace in Ukraine. But
32:32
privately, as I said, we've seen already over these these past
32:36
months, the provision of non lethal assistance that does go
32:40
directly to aiding and abetting Russia's war effort. And that
32:45
indicates that they are strongly considering providing lethal
32:49
assistance to Russia. That what a bullshit answer. Well, the
32:54
historically indicating it, can you maybe explain how
32:58
Unknown: this concern that China is considering belief, the
33:02
potential lethal aid potential in this war to Russia? What
33:06
evidence can you share? Wait, is that the
33:07
Adam Curry: same clip I just played? sounds the same as it is
33:11
thus? The same one I just played second 5252 5050 to
33:22
Unknown: this concern, publicly, they present
33:25
Adam Curry: the same clip. Sorry about that. Anyway, there you
33:29
go. It has no proof. He's just saying it. No, you know, is
33:36
there they're considering I'd put a lethal age. Mark my words
33:40
on a Blinken.
33:41
John C Dvorak: But we're doing lethal aid.
33:43
Adam Curry: Yes. Yes. Now the United Nations. They're, they're
33:50
dead. They don't want this United Nations is figuring out
33:54
that the US I would have to say we are bad actors here. And that
33:59
we have effectively cut off Europe's supply of of energy for
34:04
Germany to create stuff. And everyone's kind of
34:09
John C Dvorak: big for their britches.
34:10
Adam Curry: Yes,
34:11
John C Dvorak: we are. Everyone's not us. Germany was
34:14
Oh, yeah. Well, it depends on what we have to do is make it a
34:20
little more difficult or at least get a piece of the action.
34:22
It
34:22
Adam Curry: was well, we didn't get a piece of the action. We
34:25
blowed it all up. And now the United Nations is trying to
34:27
figure out how we can bring peace. The language
34:31
Unknown: of the new resolution is one of urgency. It is also
34:35
carefully formulated in general terms, aiming to garner as much
34:38
support as possible. The text drafted by Ukraine with help
34:42
from allies underscores the urgency to find a comprehensive,
34:46
just and lasting peace. It also demands a cessation of
34:50
hostilities, not a ceasefire and an unconditional and complete
34:54
withdrawal of Russian forces from the territory of Ukraine
34:57
within its internationally recognized borders. including
35:00
the four regions unilaterally annexed by Russia last year. But
35:05
it makes no direct reference to President Volodymyr Zelensky 10
35:08
Point peace plan presented at the G 20. summit in November.
35:12
The aim is to make it more difficult not to back the text
35:16
to previous resolutions over the past year were adopted with an
35:20
overwhelming majority. However, Russia did find support from its
35:24
friends and allies, the first one in March, condemning
35:27
Russia's invasion and demanding an immediate end to its military
35:31
operations. So five countries voting against Russia, Belarus,
35:35
North Korea, Eritrea and Syria 35 others abstained mostly in
35:41
Asia and Africa. resolution adopted in the wake of Russia's
35:46
illegal annexation of four regions in eastern Ukraine.
35:49
Again, so five votes against and 35 Abstentions. This time
35:54
Eritrea abstained instead of voting no, while Nicaragua
35:58
joined the new camp. Once again, a majority of abstentions came
36:02
from Africa, where many countries rely on Russia and
36:05
grain exports. Alongside China and India. Two big buyers of
36:09
Russian oil. Turkey, meanwhile, approved both resolutions. This
36:15
week. 191 members are eligible to vote with Lebanon and
36:19
Venezuela temporarily suspended due to arrears in the payment of
36:23
their financial contributions.
36:25
Adam Curry: I didn't know that if you didn't pay your dues. You
36:27
don't get to vote. I mean, it sounds fair. But Hello. That's
36:34
kind of odd. How much in arrears are they? Well, these votes are
36:38
useless. Yeah, but the sending message people they don't want
36:41
it they don't really want it. For France 24 Then you getting
36:47
so much the reporting slanted or not? At least they're they're
36:51
reporting kind of on instead of these. Hi, Jackie, click click
36:56
baity headlines from from the US media. And this is France 24.
37:02
You know as Biden is promising a lot now he's been a lot of money
37:05
being promised. I love this reporters gaff
37:08
Unknown: we just heard there from David that Joe Biden is now
37:10
heading to Poland. What do we expect from his trip? There are
37:15
a few things. A little overlooked. Poland is hoping
37:19
that this visit from Bowdoin I met Joe Biden will.
37:28
Adam Curry: Bow Jaiden Thank you, thank you no agenda show
37:31
creeping into her nervous system
37:32
Unknown: is hoping that this visit from Bowdoin I met divided
37:36
will underline that the US is 100% behind Poland and that
37:42
Eastern Flank of NATO because it really matters for investors who
37:47
are going to get cold feet about investing in Poland. So
37:49
Adam Curry: we're gonna be rebuilding a straightforward,
37:53
the image
37:54
Unknown: of Joe Biden saying We pledge whatever it takes for
37:57
Ukraine. And that strong image is very important to Poland.
38:00
Beyond that the Polish are keen to try to persuade a Biden to
38:05
push this idea of some sort of partnership, guaranteeing
38:10
security for Ukraine after the war. Now, NATO membership itself
38:13
is of course, much more complicated. The Polish have in
38:17
mind something along the lines of the partnership between the
38:19
US and Israel, where there is a commitment to stand by Israel.
38:25
And so they're pushing that idea
38:28
Adam Curry: like Israel. That's an interesting analogy. Make it
38:33
like Israel. I thought that was like what?
38:39
John C Dvorak: It's kind of it's funny, the polling suggests that
38:43
because polling in Israel are at odds, I would say, some has no
38:47
they are I mean, it's historical study. I get a visa. Yeah. It to
38:51
a back and forth a poll that used to be wide open. You didn't
38:54
need a visa, but they've locked that down. And it has a lot to
38:57
do with the Israeli lobby. Well, they're still pissed at Poland
39:01
for World War Two.
39:02
Adam Curry: Well, if you'll remember everyone's all lovey
39:04
dovey right now with Poland but there were entire Senate
39:12
meetings over sanctioning Poland because they hadn't apologized.
39:18
Remember that?
39:19
John C Dvorak: Vaguely Yeah, let me see. Can you remember again
39:24
let's play this one this is another little aspect is another
39:27
dimension to this war, which is now the START treaty. So we're
39:30
gonna show this is a good news for you guys who are building
39:34
these expensive bombs START Treaty then. This is an
39:38
interesting clip because it's a NHK again, and they go from one
39:42
topic to another very seamlessly.
39:44
Unknown: Russia's parliament approved the suspension of the
39:47
remaining nuclear arms control treaty. It had signed with the
39:50
United States purge and had announced on Tuesday, Moscow was
39:54
halting its participation in the New START Treaty.
39:58
That is Western nations. that started the war and we
40:01
supposedly are using our force to stop with your estimated
40:05
plastron leaders rejected Putin's claim.
40:08
Nobody is attacking Russia. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine
40:15
is the victim of aggression.
40:16
Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. Our support for
40:21
Ukraine will not waver.
40:24
They're digging in their heels as the war continues and causes
40:27
more and more casualties. Putin spoke at a rally in Moscow State
40:31
in a Moscow stadium and called for national unity. Russian
40:35
media reports say about 200,000 government supporters attended
40:39
the rally.
40:43
John C Dvorak: I liked the way they phrased that one. That's a
40:45
good little deconstruction there. So Putin did a Trump leg
40:50
rally in a stadium. And he got 200,000 people to show up. They
40:57
forced them at gunpoint, obviously. So they they make it
41:01
sound they say they call it government supporters, not Putin
41:06
supporters, or just now that is a good phrasing, isn't it?
41:09
Russians want to want to see the guy because he's not normally
41:13
you don't see him that often. But it was a Modi side, Modi
41:17
could get these kinds of crowds. Oh,
41:19
Adam Curry: you got your number outs? Yeah.
41:20
John C Dvorak: When Trump visited Modi in India, he said,
41:23
Oh, man, I wish I could get crowds like this. Well, Putin
41:26
can. And he, and they downplay it as government support just a
41:31
bunch of people given the day off, I guess, and it's got to go
41:34
to this stadium. Now one
41:36
Adam Curry: of the countries in the EU that has trying to avoid
41:41
getting wrapped up in all of this is Hungary. Hungary is has
41:46
been very ugly stepchild of the of the EU rejecting vaccine
41:51
mandates rejecting the thing, even the Pfizer is on track of
41:54
immigrants, literally saying, we want to keep our country with a
42:00
with our Christian, or what do they say? Their their, their
42:03
Christian values? Not quite sure exactly. What the phrase
42:06
something like that is about that. Yeah, it's about Yeah,
42:09
it's about they don't want Muslim immigrants. And
42:11
certainly, would they say they're not immigrants, if you
42:14
if you want to immigrate into our country, there's ways to do
42:17
it just walking across the border, you're not an immigrant,
42:20
you know, the kind of stuff you might say about a sovereign
42:22
country? Which is rare. Yes. And so the problem, is there a
42:27
problem. And this and I want you to pay close attention, slow it
42:32
down to one to one time speed, everybody, you're going to need
42:35
to hear it in real time so you can hear the nuance of evil.
42:39
This is Samantha Power.
42:41
Unknown: As USAID Administrator, I have the chance to travel all
42:43
around the world to engage with people who are working every day
42:47
to strengthen democratic institutions to build
42:50
independent media, and to promote and protect human
42:53
rights. I'm here in Hungary, one of the countries in Central
42:57
Europe, where USAID has recently relaunched programming to tackle
43:01
just these challenges. I'm gonna spend the next couple days
43:05
engaging with Hungarians about their vision for a brighter
43:08
future.
43:09
Adam Curry: Regime Change incoming color revolution
43:12
John C Dvorak: USA IDs gone in there. Is that what she says?
43:15
She's
43:15
Adam Curry: now she's now the administrator of USA ID.
43:19
John C Dvorak: Oh, that's that's the that's the jackals that were
43:22
B. Yes. And I love the the book, Confessions of an economic
43:29
hitman, which new listeners don't know, we went on, we were
43:33
pushing this book for a long time. It's a good book to read
43:35
Adam Curry: the original, the original, not until they got to
43:37
him. The second, not
43:39
John C Dvorak: as good. It talks about how this works. And USA
43:43
ideas a big part? Well, here's
43:44
Adam Curry: my favorite little snippet in here.
43:46
Unknown: I travel all around the world to engage with people who
43:49
are working every day to strengthen democratic
43:51
institutions to build independent media
43:54
Adam Curry: to build independent media that's independent. I
43:57
mean, she right there.
43:58
John C Dvorak: That's the one US propaganda sources.
44:01
Adam Curry: I hate to be so anti us, but holy crap, we are Dixon,
44:05
this
44:06
John C Dvorak: was some of these people. Our problem is not the
44:09
US itself. No, thank
44:10
Adam Curry: you, that makes
44:11
John C Dvorak: people if he's the those woman,
44:14
Adam Curry: that woman specifically,
44:17
John C Dvorak: specifically Nudelman the other one Oh, man.
44:20
Adam Curry: Yeah. And you know, and I went around looking
44:24
because I keep hearing or keep reading. You know, well, Putin
44:27
wants to rebuild the Russian Empire. And you go looking for a
44:32
source. And the only people who say this are Ukrainians. That's
44:37
all I get. It's like did when did Putin say he wants to
44:40
rebuild the Russian Empire or the Soviet empire? And you
44:42
always get back, according to a Ukrainian official, or, you
44:47
know, or an American official, but I've not actually if someone
44:50
could send it to me, I'd love to have it. I'd love to to have a
44:54
clip or anything or even a written statement. I'll accept
44:58
that Putin saying he wants to read store the Russian Empire
45:01
back to its imperial glory. I mean, as far as I can tell,
45:06
that's just a lie. Surprise.
45:09
John C Dvorak: It's an extrapolation of some things he
45:11
said. He said, You know, it was the glory days or something. He
45:16
made some Jew references. He never said it was good. rapidly
45:21
from his wife. He said that that he means this. That's our boys
45:26
at work now. Well,
45:27
Adam Curry: our boys do do good job. But they should just
45:29
propagandize other people stop doing it to us. Yeah, I do have
45:35
something on this. Let me see on the START treaty, from actually
45:41
let's just play these two clips. Here we have this is a CBS
45:43
Evening News, Ed O'Keefe Biden reassuring our NATO
45:50
Unknown: President Biden today sought to assure the eastern
45:52
most members of NATO that the US would stand with them in the
45:55
event of a Russian invasion, you're the
45:57
frontlines of our collective defense. And you're no better
46:01
than anyone. What's at stake in this conflict, not just for
46:05
Ukraine, but for the freedom democracies throughout Europe
46:09
and around the world freedom. The
46:11
meeting kept a trip that began in session in Kyiv, designed to
46:14
reiterate American support for Ukraine, but it ended as a
46:18
barrage of Russian missiles hit the northeastern city of Harkey,
46:22
the war raging on in Moscow President Vladimir Putin rally
46:29
the large flag waving crowd praising courageous Russian
46:32
soldiers, making no mention of mountain casualties.
46:36
Adam Curry: Why didn't you say government workers
46:39
Unknown: who's also held talks with China's top envoy one year,
46:42
US officials voiced concern this week the Chinese could supply
46:45
lethal military aid to the Russian army, we've made very
46:48
clear to them that that would cause a serious problem for us.
46:52
Both countries
46:53
Adam Curry: this this thing is sweet and beautifully. I mean,
46:55
you don't need to see video with this report it clear to them
46:58
that that would cause a serious problem for us.
47:01
Unknown: Both countries flex their military might today and
47:03
drills off the South African coast. The US officials
47:07
criticized Putin's decision Tuesday to suspend participation
47:10
in the last remaining nuclear arms treaty between the two
47:13
countries asked about it today. President Biden had this to say
47:20
Adam Curry: I can't even understand what he said on that
47:22
report.
47:23
John C Dvorak: That was a big mistake. Oh, big
47:24
Adam Curry: mistake. Well, there's a continuation about the
47:26
START treaty,
47:27
Unknown: that arms treaty caps the number of nuclear warheads
47:30
the US and Russia can have and allows for mutual inspection of
47:33
each other's programs. But the inspections were stopped during
47:36
the pandemic. So suspending them further would mean the US would
47:39
know even less about Russia's nuclear capabilities and
47:42
intentions
47:43
John C Dvorak: and intentions and intentions. Why don't they
47:46
go? recited? We're the ones who cut the deal off. Was it him?
47:50
Was it Putin?
47:51
Adam Curry: And it was suspended? Not not not don not,
47:55
you know, not ended. It's suspended. I'm
47:59
John C Dvorak: talking to Putin until he gets out of Ukraine.
48:01
Adam Curry: That's right. That's right. Well, right.
48:03
John C Dvorak: Well, I don't have any more on Ukraine.
48:06
Adam Curry: The only thing I have is one of our Dutch
48:08
producers. Young Vilem, he did a pretty good breakdown of Euro,
48:13
just the euro. Just this is what Queen Ursula has put together to
48:19
to I guess, to convict Putin. And it's really just a desk
48:24
somewhere within the joint investigation team. But now it's
48:30
a statement here from Ursula Russia must be held accountable
48:33
in courts for its odious crimes. Prosecutors from Ukraine and the
48:37
European Union are already working together. We are
48:39
collecting evidence. As a first step, I am pleased to announce
48:42
that an international center for the prosecution of the crime of
48:45
aggression, which is new, which is also is the ICPC Okay, so
48:52
it's a new thing we can sign on to the crime of aggression. Yes,
48:55
the International Center for the prosecution of the crime of
48:58
aggression.
49:00
John C Dvorak: Aggressive is a crock and odd during the Bush
49:03
administration may qualify.
49:05
Adam Curry: Well, you can't do that after the fact.
49:09
John C Dvorak: You can they can shrug promising to do it after
49:13
the fact.
49:14
Adam Curry: This will be set up in The Hague, of course, the
49:17
center will coordinate the collection of evidence it will
49:19
be embedded in the joint investigation team which is
49:21
supported by our agency Euro just we'll be there which is
49:25
your which is the new EU police force. Come on people. We'll be
49:30
ready to launch work very rapidly with Euro just with
49:34
Ukraine with the partners of our joint investigation team as well
49:36
as the Netherlands. Yes, the perpetrator must be held
49:39
accountable. And through all this, this is almost like a
49:43
Dutch or an EU Patriot Act. You're gonna get police secret
49:47
police. You now because you accrue for crimes of aggression.
49:53
They come after anybody. It's also obvious
50:00
John C Dvorak: My mother had been working on this for a
50:02
while, for a long time. Yeah, didn't know the health rules are
50:07
gonna get where they could shoot you if you refuse to get a
50:10
vaccination or Cindy was some law that
50:13
Adam Curry: passed. No, no, no, it was it's in the protocols of
50:16
the Lisbon Treaty. And it's two separate things. One as you can
50:18
be arrested if you have a communicable disease anywhere in
50:22
the EU, and the second if you are running away from law
50:25
enforcement and they shoot you in the back, it's legal to legal
50:28
kill.
50:29
John C Dvorak: All right, that was it. Yes. Running. That's not
50:32
good. I
50:33
Adam Curry: got a note from one of our producers about some of
50:35
the influx of Ukrainian refugees. Our producer lives in
50:42
Croatia. Ukrainians increased rental prices in Zagreb, to
50:47
about twice to what they were. Here's how it works. They post
50:51
an ad on Facebook, quote, woman with two kids looking for an
50:55
apartment in Zagreb two bedrooms 800 euros. Next day, all two
50:59
bedroom apartments are 800 euros and more, which is about the
51:03
amount of money that the state is giving to these refugees. 800
51:08
euros. So now, the rent is doubled everywhere because of
51:15
this, of what how this has been handled. He says Tinder was also
51:19
flooded, which I'm not quite sure what he meant by that. But
51:22
he said Tinder is also flooded, I
51:24
John C Dvorak: guess, Tinder? I guess Ukrainian women what he
51:28
expected that was exactly
51:29
Adam Curry: I think that's what he's
51:30
John C Dvorak: what he's alluding to. That's what he's
51:32
implying. But it is when said no.
51:34
Adam Curry: This is this is a disaster. It's a disaster.
51:39
John C Dvorak: Well, it's kind of on the same line of thinking.
51:41
Let's play this clip. This is from NHK. to This is Russia,
51:44
China. Becoming pals
51:47
Unknown: diplomatic movements are heating up ahead of the
51:49
first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russian
51:53
President Vladimir Putin held talks was this Ben
51:55
Adam Curry: Shapiro's side gig side hustle this is great, this
51:58
is Shapiro. Slow down. No.
52:04
John C Dvorak: You I'm I'm gonna have to listen with me. I know
52:07
who this guy is. And I've seen him thinking of anybody else but
52:12
now what you mentioned is possible he's close your
52:15
Adam Curry: eyes, close your eyes and hear Ben Shapiro
52:17
Unknown: diplomatic movements are heating up ahead of the
52:20
first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russian
52:23
President Vladimir Putin talks Wednesday with China's top
52:27
diplomat Wang Yi. Russian Chinese
52:30
relations are developing just as we planned in previous years.
52:34
Everything is moving forward developing as we are reaching
52:37
new milestones listed below luxury. Mr.
52:41
Putin said he expects trade between their countries to reach
52:44
$200 billion by 2024. He also said he's waiting for Chinese
52:49
President Xi Jinping to visit Moscow for a summit as planned,
52:53
Wang replied, relations between their nations are mature,
52:56
resilient and stable.
52:59
Adam Curry: We would like to emphasize once again that the
53:02
comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and
53:05
China has never been directed against a third party, and is
53:09
certainly not subjected to interference and provocation by
53:13
any third party. So what does this all mean?
53:17
John C Dvorak: Well, I'm, you know, I was thinking about this.
53:21
Russia and China have been butting up against each other.
53:24
So forever. Yeah. The Russia attack by them. They share a
53:29
huge border, and the Russians were attacked by the Mongols
53:32
back in the day and they've always had you there's always
53:35
been these disputes, and there's always been the fear and during
53:38
the Nixon Kissinger thing where they reopened China, thank you
53:42
for that. There was always this fear that their comment that
53:47
Adam Curry: you got a cheap mic because of that. Okay, so be
53:50
thankful
53:51
John C Dvorak: that this is the American mic the PR 40s
53:53
Adam Curry: Do you have I do have I have a cheap Chinese
53:56
cradle.
53:57
John C Dvorak: I do have a cheap Chinese cradle and it works
53:59
great. Okay. And you should be thankful too, because you don't
54:04
hear me banging into thing. Oh, you said
54:06
Adam Curry: thanks for that. Oh, you miss it. You're sincere. I'm
54:08
sorry. I got it.
54:11
John C Dvorak: And so yes, was sincere. It's a nice product.
54:16
And it's cheap, very cheap. It's like everything else. It'll
54:20
break break. Best Price. Now it'll break. Brom is like all
54:24
this stuff, it'll break. So. So when when Nixon and Kissinger
54:29
put this thing together, they were there was this fear that
54:32
because of the common to the commonality of communism, that
54:37
Russia and China would join up forces and it'd be the dominant
54:41
factor in the world. But if their history goes back, if
54:46
these guys were ever going to get along, they would have got
54:49
along by now, China and Russia. There's something about those
54:54
two cultures. It's just obvious that they don't really you know,
54:59
do that People don't like different kinds of people for
55:01
whatever reason. But these two, they don't like each other at
55:05
some base level. And yeah, they'll trade and you can run a
55:09
train through the country of your want. And you know, but
55:13
there's something wrong with that relationship. And Russia
55:16
really is wants to be more European, but we will let them
55:19
Adam Curry: know. We know, because how handy is this right
55:23
now? We you and by the way, I was just gonna say we use Russia
55:28
to get the green, the Green Deal. That's what it's called on
55:30
Europe, to push the hydrogen economy to make oil, isn't there
55:36
totally. They are the perfect foil. And I am amazed quite
55:40
frankly, considering the international terrorism and
55:45
terrorist act of sabotage, on their pipelines at the restraint
55:51
Russia has shown.
55:55
John C Dvorak: Yeah, they had to know what happened.
55:57
Adam Curry: Well, they're now they've now called the UN
55:59
Security Committee, and said, Hey, we want an investigation.
56:03
Council Council. Thank you. We want an investigation on this.
56:07
We want to know what happened. Good luck with that?
56:11
John C Dvorak: Yeah. Well, I gotta go. But at least making a
56:13
fuss. Yeah. But yeah, the Russians in the show. So I think
56:16
that we've already planned for the fact that the Russians and
56:19
the Chinese we must do our top guys have to know this, that the
56:24
Russians and the Chinese aren't? Yeah, they'll give you the
56:27
Chinese don't even want to give them bullets. I mean, they'll
56:29
give you we heard that we're getting some armaments and
56:32
bullets from North Korea. Yeah. Russians. Yeah. Oh, and
56:35
Adam Curry: I think that's probably part of the game is,
56:39
hey, tell Kim Jong on to shoot some shit over there. Yeah, it
56:46
could be, of course. Of course, what else? All of a sudden this
56:51
happened. It was interesting. Megyn Kelly. Because Tina
56:56
listens to Megyn. Kelly, she said, you know, she's a woman on
56:58
who's from North Korea. And he was horrible, you know, with her
57:02
story. And she was trafficked to China. And I said, you know,
57:06
this may I'll be done when you're when this happened, like
57:08
15 years ago, when she was 12, or whatever. I said, the story
57:12
may be true. In fact, a lot of it's likely very true. But the
57:16
reason that it's be pushed now is all of his reasons for this.
57:21
This you know, she has a book out Okay, so why all of a sudden
57:25
is a book about you know, the horrible life in North Korea
57:28
coming out? Isn't that directly related to China bad? I mean,
57:32
isn't this all part of this information war that's taking
57:35
place,
57:36
John C Dvorak: which brings me to a slew of clips Hey, now
57:39
Adam Curry: I set you up perfectly.
57:42
John C Dvorak: Let's listen to these clips. This is Japan and
57:45
China. This is by the way what's going on in Asia which nobody's
57:49
paying any attention to over here but there's all kinds of
57:51
action. In fact, I got a I put together a VPN lash app so I
57:56
could get T V New Zealand VPN
57:59
Adam Curry: lash up is this like a Rube Goldberg machine? You go
58:02
from one VPN through a second one? Well,
58:04
John C Dvorak: I'm when I tried to get to New Zealand TV they
58:07
would they real strict about who can look at their television. So
58:11
I then worked my way in and had a real bad VPN lashup. They had
58:16
a real bad storm
58:17
Adam Curry: there.
58:18
John C Dvorak: Yes, that that was a Gabriel if I had to have a
58:21
clip on that if you wanted to skip around. But no, let's play
58:24
this. Japan and China News one
58:26
Unknown: top officials from Japan and China say their
58:29
countries need to work together to tackle some difficult issues.
58:33
These were the first security talks in four years and came
58:36
amid growing tensions over Taiwan and accusations of
58:39
espionage. The Senior Foreign Affairs and Defense officials
58:42
showed signs of disagreement locking horns on several key
58:46
issues. Yamaga Shigeo broached the topic of spy balloons. The
58:50
Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs says Japan
58:53
strongly suspect China flew them within its airspace. China shone
58:58
the spotlight on Japan's recent moves to boost defensive
59:01
capabilities which Beijing casts as a military buildup.
59:05
To be honest, China has serious concerns over Japan's release of
59:10
its new defence and security documents. It's collusion with
59:13
foreign forces and the negative moves such as its involvement in
59:18
the Taiwan issue, you don't have your general question.
59:22
Still the to agree on the need to keep an open dialogue to
59:25
avoid any unintended escalation and decided to create a new
59:29
hotline new coalition or neither is
59:31
Adam Curry: common understanding between the two countries
59:33
leaders of the need to build constructive and stable Japan
59:37
China relations. You could have labeled this this section of the
59:42
show was hot Asian action.
59:45
John C Dvorak: Japan and China in part two,
59:47
Unknown: China's Vice Minister also met with Japanese Foreign
59:50
Minister a high se Yoshimasa during his visit to Tokyo, I
59:54
actually likewise emphasize the need to allow both sides to air
59:57
concerns and work through disputes That trip was also an
1:00:00
opportunity for China to remind Tokyo of its importance as Japan
1:00:04
moves to strengthen ties with Beijing's rival the United
1:00:08
States. No.
1:00:10
John C Dvorak: Oh well United States now we have this clip
1:00:13
which is a way say is Beijing
1:00:15
Adam Curry: villa. Bae Jin is my Beijing is Belgian. We all know
1:00:19
this.
1:00:20
John C Dvorak: Beijing. Yeah. They gotta get together over
1:00:22
there.
1:00:24
Adam Curry: Yes, the Philippines. That's that's kind
1:00:25
of a problem that we've, we've moved in there. I would presume
1:00:30
that Well, here
1:00:30
Unknown: we go. The United States has reaffirmed its
1:00:33
commitment to the defense of the Philippines. It follows a flare
1:00:36
up of tensions in the South China Sea after Manila accused
1:00:40
the Chinese ship of pointing a laser at one of its ships.
1:00:43
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with his Philippine
1:00:46
counterpart. Carlito Galvez by phone
1:00:49
Adam Curry: was it a laser pointer like one of those deals,
1:00:52
John C Dvorak: or some sort of a weapon like um, directed energy
1:00:56
Adam Curry: weapon from space.
1:00:58
Unknown: Austin said attack and attack on a Philippine vessel
1:01:01
anywhere in the South China Sea would invoke the US mutual
1:01:04
defense commitment under a treaty between their countries
1:01:07
so the Philippine Coast Guard says a Chinese government ship
1:01:11
directed a military grade laser at its patrol vessel earlier
1:01:14
this month. Near the Spratly Islands. Beijing claims the ship
1:01:18
did not direct lasers at the crew or cause any damage. It
1:01:22
says the Chinese ship was compelled to respond because the
1:01:25
Philippine vessel entered Chinese waters without
1:01:28
permission. Austin agreed with Galvez The incident took place
1:01:31
inside the Philippine exclusive economic zone. They discussed
1:01:36
joint patrols in the South China Sea and further cooperation with
1:01:39
like minded nations like Japan that want to free and open Indo
1:01:43
Pacific Manila aims to expanded security cooperation with other
1:01:47
countries as well. It's melting joint patrols with Australia in
1:01:51
the South China Sea.
1:01:52
Adam Curry: I get a real strong Gulf of Tonkin vibe from what's
1:01:55
going on here.
1:01:56
John C Dvorak: There's something going on it's it gets active and
1:01:58
it's real active and listen to your I'll just play two more
1:02:01
clips. Does USA Taiwan meetings
1:02:04
Unknown: now senior officials from Taiwan this guy is working
1:02:07
on my nerves though.
1:02:08
John C Dvorak: Yeah, okay. We're gonna go leave him. Go to
1:02:11
someone worse.
1:02:12
Adam Curry: Let's play him first. It's only 50 seconds I
1:02:14
can handle it. Now.
1:02:15
Unknown: Senior officials from Taiwan have made a rare visit to
1:02:18
the US Capitol Region. Apparently the latest in a
1:02:21
series of US Capitol
1:02:23
Adam Curry: Region,
1:02:24
John C Dvorak: Washington, Virginia, Washington DC
1:02:27
Unknown: or dramatic exchanges. These sorts of talks have
1:02:30
frustrated Beijing at a time when it's Washington relations
1:02:33
remain fraught here are Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu and
1:02:37
National Security Council Secretary General Wellington who
1:02:41
is entering the Virginia office of the American Institute in
1:02:44
Taiwan. Around the same time, US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy
1:02:49
Sherman and other senior officials were spotted. Taiwan
1:02:53
media say for about seven hours, the officials discussed
1:02:56
diplomacy and security. It comes days after sources told us
1:03:00
media, the Pentagon's top China official went to Taiwan, the US
1:03:05
and Taiwan have not had formal diplomatic ties for decades, and
1:03:09
neither has confirmed any official meetings.

Adam Curry: No one I appreciate. This was
1:03:14
John C Dvorak: not a meeting.
1:03:14
Adam Curry: No but what I appreciate about NHK and they
1:03:18
may also be based in Washington DC for all I know
1:03:21
John C Dvorak: that we may be but these reports are out of
1:03:23
Japan.
1:03:24
Adam Curry: I mean, when you listen to Deutsche Avella and
1:03:26
France 24 It's like you got Brits on on France. 24. You got
1:03:31
Americans on Deutsche Avella like I want to hear Deutsche
1:03:35
accents on Deutsche Avella and France Oksana on France 24 and
1:03:40
TRT I want to hear some turkey a accents
1:03:44
John C Dvorak: I know what you mean exactly noise me it's like
1:03:47
are you all see France 24 where they pride themselves at
1:03:50
bringing in British accented spooks good English speakers.
1:03:55
Yeah, spooks.
1:03:56
Adam Curry: It's gotta be spooks Oh, it's
1:03:57
John C Dvorak: totally suppose Well, this isn't a this this is
1:03:59
the last China thing. Now this is a baffling clip because I
1:04:02
can't understand a word they say because this is one of my clips
1:04:05
from New Zealand TV NZ channel one and it's like about the
1:04:11
Chinese and all this island hopping they're trying to take
1:04:14
over a bunch of islands and this is like on destroyed it's hard
1:04:18
to tell. 60 Minutes Australia has probably done the best job
1:04:24
of revealing much of what's going on there. We don't even
1:04:27
know it. We're just I don't know what brain the dark. Dark we're
1:04:32
in the dark. So what am I playing here baffling clip. Top

Unknown: members of the Pacific Islands Forum are meeting in
1:04:40
Fiji this week for a much needed special retreat. Tensions are
1:04:43
running high as security in the region becomes more fragile with
1:04:47
a number of nations including cannabis forming close relations
1:04:50
with China get about says return to the forum table this year
1:04:54
bringing renewed hope leaders will be able to patch up their
1:04:57
differences.
1:04:59
It was also have sorted out and Kitty bus has come back to this
1:05:03
meeting. So this meeting is to really make sure that Katie bus
1:05:07
does stay within the forum family for security reasons. And
1:05:12
as well as they really need to be at the table when discussing
1:05:15
big regional issues.
1:05:17
Climate change will also be high on the agenda with meaning
1:05:20
Pacific countries already experiencing destruction due to
1:05:23
extreme weather events.
1:05:26
John C Dvorak: Hmm. Yeah, events very odd. Yeah, they're really
1:05:31
good. I'm telling you. I'm going to try to get some more clips
1:05:35
from this New Zealand operation because their accent is hard to
1:05:40
hear. Yes, I would say they have a lot of idiosyncratic ways of
1:05:46
British Australians or you know the shrimp on the barbie you can
1:05:51
kind of follow what they have to say but these New Zealanders and
1:05:54
they do call themselves kiwis. Yeah. are very difficult to
1:05:59
understand.
1:06:00
Adam Curry: I did okay there until they pulled the rug and
1:06:03
took me to climate change. They jumped in. Did you see this?
1:06:09
This is one of those baffling things just going back to China.
1:06:13
The Aerospace intelligence space Twitter account space OS int
1:06:19
whatever that is. The post a selfie of one of our of the you
1:06:24
to dragon lady pilot? I don't know if that means the YouTube
1:06:28
is titled The dragon lady and it's the pilot or if the lady if
1:06:32
the pilot is a dragon lady, I don't know. circling above the
1:06:36
Chinese spy balloon?
1:06:39
John C Dvorak: Yes. The NHK website has a lot of photos of
1:06:44
it very
1:06:45
Adam Curry: confusing, very confusing to me. I mean, first
1:06:49
of all, why are you shooting a selfie on your phone when you're
1:06:52
you're actually in a high tech sophisticated surveillance
1:06:56
aircraft that has the best cameras? Why? How insulting to
1:07:02
give us a selfie.
1:07:05
John C Dvorak: And I want to ask some of our experts out there.
1:07:09
Why are we still flying the u two? And where it would I
1:07:13
thought this SR 70 was was benched
1:07:16
Adam Curry: the XR 71 or whatever it was?
1:07:19
John C Dvorak: Yeah, this is 70. I think it is 70. And but the
1:07:23
you choose an old pre dated plane. That's a plane from this
1:07:27
50s I think but it's a high altitude plane. I think it's
1:07:30
still in service. But why is it still in the service? And then I
1:07:33
understand there's a third plane that nobody's talking about.
1:07:36
That's really the plane they're flying, which is some?
1:07:40
Adam Curry: So this was 70,000 feet and this balloon was at
1:07:43
60,000 feet? Yeah. Very interesting.
1:07:47
John C Dvorak: Sounds right.
1:07:49
Adam Curry: None of it sounds right to me. I'll be on. I
1:07:51
John C Dvorak: mean, the numbers sound right.
1:07:54
Adam Curry: But you know, when you listen to these clips, when
1:07:57
you look at the whole world of selfies and tweets, and I mean,
1:08:01
aren't we just live
1:08:02
John C Dvorak: itself? This? Something's wrong with that?
1:08:04
Adam Curry: Aren't we just living in the matrix already? I
1:08:07
mean, you could just believe whatever you want to believe,
1:08:09
because you'll find something that's true for you. Yeah. I
1:08:14
don't know what Zuckerberg is building. We don't need the
1:08:16
glasses mark. It's already okay. Like Project Veritas. I want to
1:08:22
talk about Project Veritas for a moment.
1:08:24
John C Dvorak: I have nothing on this. Well, I don't have some
1:08:27
thoughts. And I've gotten letters and yes, well, also, but
1:08:30
Adam Curry: so we saw the I think everyone saw the James
1:08:33
O'Keefe video, which was done on Monday, Presidents Day. So no
1:08:37
one's at the office, except they're worse than people at the
1:08:39
office. And he was gathering his things. And from there on out,
1:08:43
it was like, okay, he has he has resigned. And then there's all
1:08:51
kinds of document and the board comes out with a with a memo
1:08:55
saying that he was cruel to employees and that, you know,
1:09:01
there's a question of, of misappropriating donor funds
1:09:06
717 $1,000 for charter jet, was this a 3030 minute flight? What
1:09:12
kind of charter jet can you get for 30 $17,000? You're not going
1:09:17
very far. He's
1:09:18
John C Dvorak: shared. I'm sorry. Shared.
1:09:21
Adam Curry: No, no, this just you're not getting very far for
1:09:24
that kind
1:09:24
John C Dvorak: of money. No, but if his share with 10 other
1:09:27
people.
1:09:28
Adam Curry: Now then he paid then he overpaid. You know,
1:09:32
$150,000 in, in black cars, which I presume is Uber X or
1:09:38
something. And the whole thing was just really like,
1:09:42
everything's very, very weird. And I've done a dive into some
1:09:46
things including their 2021 form 990 filing, which, and 2020 and
1:09:52
2019. And I've learned a few things and there's there's some
1:09:54
things coming out and maybe we can make some sense of what's
1:09:57
happening. If First of all, I wanted to mention that James
1:10:01
O'Keefe says several times in his video that nothing had
1:10:05
changed with the Way Project Veritas was doing business until
1:10:10
they did the big Pfizer takedown, which now, let's just
1:10:17
stop for a second. We have watched Veritas Project Veritas
1:10:23
and what they've done since really since the days of acorn,
1:10:27
which is, you know, when it was really just O'Keefe, you know,
1:10:30
get an undercover video himself during Obama's days. Yep. And I
1:10:35
would say we have used very little of their material because
1:10:38
it was patently unusable for audios above and we were
1:10:42
actually quite happy when we could assist and help them get
1:10:45
their audio cleaned up. We suggested a couple people that
1:10:48
could use and
1:10:49
John C Dvorak: once we stepped into the picture, all hell broke
1:10:52
loose zactly for them to do his Pfizer know,
1:10:56
Adam Curry: once John, I started helping to advise the executive
1:10:59
director all went to business, he went to shoot Corinne Devora
1:11:03
consulting group broke it now. So the first thing is, we have
1:11:07
to go back to our, our own producer, our Baron I believe,
1:11:12
who became the Executive Director of Vera toss just six
1:11:16
weeks ago, maybe, by itself interesting that that happened.
1:11:21
And he's an ex Wall Street guy, but hadn't been on Wall Street
1:11:24
for several years, from what I understand. He's
1:11:25
John C Dvorak: being excoriated on you know, agenda social by by
1:11:28
five or six people.
1:11:29
Adam Curry: And I think rightly so. Because no, no, well, no,
1:11:33
because his note was very clear. The board loves James, it's
1:11:37
gonna be okay. He's not been fired. And then, you know, James
1:11:41
O'Keefe, again, I see people who I love and respect. going off
1:11:46
the deep end, maybe they listen to James O'Keefe in two times
1:11:49
speed saying, oh, Keith brought the receipts not he actually
1:11:53
didn't bring any receipts. He just told us what he what he
1:11:56
believed was going on and what he felt and his side of the
1:11:59
story. So I did follow a receive a follow up email this morning
1:12:03
from our our producer, who was the executive director of both
1:12:07
of the nonprofits. And I'm going to share with him with you what
1:12:11
he wrote, because we've been sharing all of his stuff. So I
1:12:15
personally didn't say don't share this. And we're going to
1:12:18
get more IgM I've been on the phone nonstop. Outside of some
1:12:23
he had a family tragedy on Monday, which very sorry for he
1:12:27
says, That was the worst day of my life. I'll try to get you a
1:12:30
better update for Sunday, my brain is mush. Our journalists
1:12:34
and the rest of the team are dedicated to getting stories
1:12:36
while the board and James work things out again, he's not
1:12:40
fired, not ousted, not removed, did not resign. Many of the
1:12:45
things that were said in that video are not true. I was not
1:12:48
there as it was a Holiday Inn HQ was closed. So I worked from my
1:12:51
home office, I kind of wish I could have been there because I
1:12:54
could have interjected the truth a few times more to come. Okay,
1:12:58
so he is doubling down on what he told us. That's an
1:13:02
interesting development as far as I'm concerned. So here's what
1:13:07
I've
1:13:08
John C Dvorak: learned definitely extends the story. It
1:13:10
does.
1:13:12
Adam Curry: So I've looked through all the leaked memos,
1:13:14
and you know, and all the different things and read
1:13:16
everything the board had to say. But it was really the 990 that
1:13:20
interested me the most. And I'd become quite an expert at
1:13:22
reading form 990s. Throughout the course of 15 years or more
1:13:25
doing the show, I learned a lot about it from the keeper who
1:13:29
used to work exclusively in the nonprofit arena as the chief
1:13:33
communications officer. So she understands a lot of how this
1:13:36
works and how it functions. And the 990s you can glean a lot
1:13:40
mainly, the top line thing is interesting is how much money
1:13:43
did they bring in? And what did it go towards? These are the
1:13:47
things that are always interesting. And of course, one
1:13:49
of the reasons? Well, when you have a nonprofit, you have a lot
1:13:54
of reporting responsibility, you have to stay within certain
1:13:58
guidelines legally to remain a tax exempt nonprofit. So there's
1:14:05
unless someone's really faking numbers and lying that I'm going
1:14:08
to take this as true because it was filed with the IRS and more
1:14:13
on the IRS in a moment. So what is very interesting is James
1:14:17
O'Keefe talks about specifically that plane trip which the board
1:14:22
or according to the board letter, which and our executive
1:14:25
director is not a member of the board that's very important
1:14:27
understand there are there were three board members on the the
1:14:32
five OC three and I think two on the on the C four. But the end,
1:14:39
O'Keefe being one of the three board members of the IOC three
1:14:42
so it's really two people there's just one guy who may
1:14:44
have been early donor big petrol guy, and then Matthew tear mand
1:14:51
whose LinkedIn is like Ministry of Silly Walks you know, so this
1:14:57
this guy is suspect to me. I'm not quite Sure, I mean, you can
1:15:01
delve deep into his history, but whatever's going on, they
1:15:05
accused O'Keefe, of using the plane to fix his boat. And
1:15:10
O'Keefe said very clearly, I had three donor meetings in three
1:15:14
different cities in one day, I'm going to believe that because
1:15:18
when you're raising $20 million a year for Project Veritas, as
1:15:23
he said, I'm on the road 300 days a year raising money to
1:15:28
keep you guys paid. He said that in his video. Looking at all the
1:15:33
projects that Veritas has done, and we've we've followed most of
1:15:37
them, I would say, 90%. Now, even some of the COVID stuff was
1:15:43
all politically oriented. It was, you know, it, certainly it
1:15:50
would it would be a wealthy right wing, conservative donor
1:15:56
who would appreciate the work that Veritas does, because it
1:16:01
makes the left usually left leaning media left leaning
1:16:04
politicians look stupid, and exposes them for what they're
1:16:09
doing go all the way back to ACORN, which was a valid hit on
1:16:14
President Obama. So when you're doing this, you're raising
1:16:20
money, not just from people and a lot of people's I may have
1:16:23
supported Project Veritas at one time, like, here's 20 bucks.
1:16:26
Yeah, great. Good job. I love that you're doing this. But to
1:16:31
see a spike in 2020 10%, more, almost $23 million, a lot of
1:16:37
money to raise. So yeah, if you're James O'Keefe, you're
1:16:39
running around, you're doing meetings, you're getting money.
1:16:42
It's it's a lot of $100,000 checks a lot. And I think we're
1:16:46
learning looking at alternative media in general. As we've
1:16:51
learned from the blaze, we look at the Crowder and daily, you
1:16:57
know, what's his face daily wire, Shapiro connection, big
1:17:00
money there, you know, what Crowder would call big
1:17:04
conservative, there's a lot of money and a lot of influence.
1:17:08
And I think we're starting to understand that a lot of this
1:17:11
was being used, really, ultimately for political gain.
1:17:16
And when you do something that goes outside of that, and you
1:17:21
expose, in a very, I mean, it was a bad look for Pfizer. It
1:17:27
was of course, I think handled properly. And this is probably
1:17:31
part of it. To suppress that story. You're stepping on big
1:17:36
toes, and Pfizer, Big Pharma, probably one of the most
1:17:41
powerful the organizations in the world.
1:17:45
John C Dvorak: Yeah, I get compared to acorn. Yes.
1:17:49
Adam Curry: Exactly. And, and you may have stepped on some
1:17:53
donors toes, and at a certain point, the donors are driving
1:17:57
the train, as Tina would say. So that shit had to stop. And the,
1:18:03
and the way to decide to do it is to blow up Project Veritas.
1:18:07
And I think this one board member may have something to do
1:18:09
with it. And just in this this morning, it appears that the IRS
1:18:15
mine had been harassing board members with some threats of God
1:18:19
knows what. And that could have also played right into, you
1:18:23
know, a weak board member that might be this Matthew Terman.
1:18:26
guy who, who then says, oh, we gotta we gotta get rid of
1:18:31
O'Keefe. We gotta we gotta blame it all on him. We want to
1:18:34
continue because it is a good business. I mean, it seems like
1:18:38
they weren't out of money and bringing 20 million plus in now.
1:18:41
Now the reason why good business the reason why it's a very
1:18:45
difficult business is a O'Keefe is now a known figure, so he
1:18:50
can't do undercover stuff himself. So he has to get people
1:18:53
to do this. And a lot of people don't want to do honey pot, you
1:18:56
know, it's it's tough. And especially if it's a media
1:19:00
business, it's it's a covert media business. So you know,
1:19:04
people are going to be Curt and short with you in the production
1:19:07
arena. This is just what it is. It's no different from
1:19:09
television or, you know, I'll bet NBC to you know, what is it
1:19:13
To Catch A Predator? A bit there's a lot of crap going on
1:19:16
with that crew as well.
1:19:17
John C Dvorak: Yeah, well, it shows off.
1:19:19
Adam Curry: But you know what I mean, it's and there's also a
1:19:21
lot of noodle boys and noodle girls these days. So this whole
1:19:24
memo about oh, he was mean, he ate a pregnant lady sandwich,
1:19:28
whatever he did, okay. However, here's the problem. This blow up
1:19:32
is such a magnitude that the whole world is on O'Keefe side.
1:19:36
Everyone sees that O'Keefe is being railroaded regardless of
1:19:40
how it worked internally. That's what they're seeing. And I can't
1:19:43
fault anyone for it and I don't even think O'Keefe is at fault
1:19:46
this. This is just how it goes. The problem is to get to get an
1:19:51
organization for O'Keefe to get an organ like organization like
1:19:54
this back up and running. Do you know what they spend in legal
1:19:58
fees? Almost five $5 million a year. Because you need that you
1:20:03
need that type of legal assistance when you're doing
1:20:07
this kind of stuff. And I think that, you know, the the Pfizer
1:20:11
thing, for whatever reason, that was that was the someone stepped
1:20:17
over the line. And the whole thing had to be blown up. And I
1:20:21
wonder if it's possible to put those pieces back together
1:20:25
again. What are your thoughts?
1:20:27
John C Dvorak: I like that analysis. I've always been
1:20:30
suspicious there even though they all in denial about the
1:20:32
Pfizer thing. But they don't know what's going on. You're
1:20:36
right about behind the scenes in the IRS is political. When
1:20:40
Democrats are in power, and I think it is probably so when it
1:20:43
when the Republicans are in two, but the Democrat political
1:20:45
machine gets involved with the IRS. And they have the head of
1:20:49
the IRS was appointed, I think, by the President and then
1:20:54
approved by a rubber stamp policy. That's why I shouldn't
1:20:58
use the word approved when I should say rubber stamped by the
1:21:02
Congress or Senate. And, and they are political. They was
1:21:07
shown by the during the Obama administration when this Lois
1:21:12
Lerner you clearly violated all the edicts that she was, you
1:21:16
know, gonna have to follow and she didn't never did, and she
1:21:19
never got in trouble for it, which is makes it even easier
1:21:22
for the next guy to come along, say, look, what do lawyers dead?
1:21:25
You're not even getting close to that. And so yes, and I believe
1:21:29
this, I think, the thesis that the IRS is putting pressure via
1:21:33
the Biden administration, or via Pfizer. Yeah. And here's the
1:21:38
Pfizer has got a lot of important people that are on its
1:21:41
board. He's got a lot of investors that expect to make
1:21:44
money. Oh, yeah. And they put little pressure this way or that
1:21:48
way. And yeah, it wouldn't take much to get somebody to fold
1:21:50
into or to get panicky. And
1:21:56
Adam Curry: what I think the mistake that was made, which, to
1:22:00
me is just I don't understand why did Project Veritas ever
1:22:04
decide to be a nonprofit. This is baffling to me. Is that oh,
1:22:10
John C Dvorak: that's a great point.
1:22:12
Adam Curry: I mean, there are a lot of people have said to us,
1:22:15
why don't you do a nonprofit? Because that's the quickest way
1:22:18
for the government to shut us down. That's literally our
1:22:22
answer. But
1:22:22
John C Dvorak: the reason the reason we decided initially is
1:22:25
because when we had JC in our back office, yeah, he did a lot
1:22:30
of research on he got us all kinds of research on this and
1:22:33
that. And he found a study that showed that nonprofits in our
1:22:39
space space who left well, our space, I said that words back in
1:22:47
nonprofits doing what we do get less donations.
1:22:52
Adam Curry: Of course, that would be our Hey, man, we're
1:22:55
gonna get less money if we do a nonprofit, bad idea.
1:22:59
John C Dvorak: That was the real rationale. It turns out and I
1:23:05
was thinking about this every once in a while when I see AMY
1:23:08
GOODMAN or somebody going on and on about there being a
1:23:10
nonprofit, I'm thinking, well, they obviously don't have to
1:23:13
make money thus they do the nonprofit. And it's like we'll
1:23:18
do something about it turns you off, insofar as donating as
1:23:23
opposed to guys like us, we're not we're for profit, but we pay
1:23:28
the IRS we pay our taxes we do. We do. And it just seems to at
1:23:33
least get some sympathy to the to the donor donating class. So
1:23:38
yeah, those poor guys, you know, they gotta pay taxes like
1:23:40
everybody else, even though you also have to pay tax like
1:23:43
anybody else if you're a nonprofit, but to being a
1:23:45
nonprofit is a bad idea.
1:23:48
Adam Curry: And one of the things that
1:23:52
John C Dvorak: let me take that back. So we do complete thought
1:23:55
out, it's a bad idea unless you have one huge or two monstrous
1:24:01
donors that need you to be in a nonprofit status so they can
1:24:06
take it off their taxes, but you're gonna get a ton of money
1:24:09
from those two guys. Or not. Anyway, we can't do that.
1:24:13
Adam Curry: No. And this is why we chose or we developed really
1:24:16
the value for value model is you know, people can get pissed off
1:24:19
but you know, 510 people it'll hurt but it's not going to end
1:24:24
us you know, we don't have a single source we don't have a
1:24:27
single sugar daddy, who's out there you know, like some Texas
1:24:31
oil guys, Jews for Jesus guys. That's that's us funding funds
1:24:37
daily wire. The Blaze is very, very opaque as to how that
1:24:46
actually works on their money there. I'm just seeing a lot of
1:24:52
political money running throughout the so called
1:24:55
Alternative Media and I'm think we're starting to see kind of
1:24:58
where the problems are. And I was I was doing a calculation we
1:25:05
now know that new were about 850,000 people listen to an
1:25:08
episode of The no agenda show. And that's and that's a real
1:25:12
number for the one episode, which is pretty good. You know,
1:25:16
we could do one spot, that 25 CPM. And that's all we'd have to
1:25:21
do. per episode, yeah, one one ad at that at that CPM. And
1:25:28
that's all we'd have to do. But I couldn't live with myself and
1:25:30
we would not be able to do this.
1:25:32
John C Dvorak: You could live with yourself, but you couldn't
1:25:34
live with the ramifications.
1:25:36
Adam Curry: Correct. And now, for years, we have in a way been
1:25:40
compared to NPR with their with their model of listener produced
1:25:47
radio, podcast media. And NPR has always it's always been
1:25:54
baffling to us how they receive a little bit of money now, I
1:25:57
think it's maybe 3%. But they're always they have listener
1:26:03
donation drives and they know you can get a coffee mug or a
1:26:08
tote bag. Right? But there's not supposed to be advertising
1:26:14
although we have heard in the past, you know, donor was it
1:26:18
sponsorships, donor, underwriting, underwriting,
1:26:22
John C Dvorak: whatever you want to call it, advertising,
1:26:24
whatever you want to call it,
1:26:25
Adam Curry: you know, we should probably I should probably play
1:26:26
that find that clip. Yeah, we have it of course. Here we go.
1:26:32
This is important to hear this is from how long ago did we have
1:26:35
this clip per 2012
1:26:37
Unknown: Rich Rodriguez recently fired. Oops, that's
1:26:39
Adam Curry: not the one. Here we go. No, that's not Oh, it was
1:26:43
uh, who was it? Ah, sponsor it was that
1:26:47
John C Dvorak: woman, that woman, that woman who has been
1:26:52
around she's still floating around to us. So she's a very,
1:26:55
very talented manager. CEO type it to his running and PR this
1:27:02
just the other day, didn't we? Yeah, he just played like two
1:27:05
three shows ago.
1:27:06
Adam Curry: It was like, call it advertise you were everywhere we
1:27:11
go. I got here's the one
1:27:12
Unknown: Okay, moving on to money. How are NPR is corporate
1:27:15
underwriting revenues holding up in the recession or Bernie
1:27:18
Madoff foundation grants foundation?
1:27:21
Two different stories. Underwriting is underwriting is
1:27:27
is down it's down for everybody. I mean, this is this is this is
1:27:31
the area that is most down for us is is in is in sponsorship,
1:27:35
underwriting advertising, call it whatever you want. So we
1:27:38
Adam Curry: of course Clary
1:27:40
John C Dvorak: wallet, what area was it? Can we
1:27:42
Adam Curry: call it advertising? Is it advertising? Is it
1:27:45
sponsorships? Is it underwriting? Well today? 10
1:27:49
years later, we find out the truth. Sadly, NPR is going
1:27:53
through a downturn like everybody else, except last
1:27:56
time, like 10 years ago, except the story has changed just
1:28:01
Unknown: a little bit. And now of course, some news about NPR
1:28:04
itself. And
1:28:05
Adam Curry: this is going to report on ourselves because we
1:28:10
have so much journalistic integrity.
1:28:12
Unknown: And now of course some news about NPR itself. NPR
1:28:16
announced a major restructuring today and revealed it's about to
1:28:20
lay off about 10% of the workforce. Our CEO John Lansing
1:28:24
cited a drop of $30 million in projected advertising revenues.
1:28:30
And PR media correspondent Dave What?
1:28:33
Adam Curry: advertising revenue, facade 30% Drop What's the
1:28:40
30% 30 million 30 million and 80 million advertising revenues?
1:28:44
That's a lot of advertising that you're supposed to not be doing.
1:28:49
Or bulbs find out as they report on themselves force.
1:28:52
Unknown: Our CEO John Lansing cited a drop of $30 million in
1:28:57
projected advertising revenues. And PR media correspondent David
1:29:01
Folkenflik joins me and David it's always Folkenflik pleasure
1:29:05
to talk to you. But this is a tough day as you know,
1:29:08
Adam Curry: a tough day that that that that breathing in. You
1:29:12
know what that microphone you have we're taking that we're
1:29:14
taking that as part of your downsizing. We're taking away
1:29:17
all your Neumann stem here. Yeah, look,
1:29:20
John C Dvorak: yeah, look,
1:29:20
Unknown: it's it's a real loss. As John Lansing said, in a memo
1:29:24
to staff I've been here over 18 years. It's the toughest cuts
1:29:27
I've seen, it's probably the toughest since the early 80s.
1:29:31
What we know is not a lot except about the extent of it. And what
1:29:35
John Lansing said to me was that it would not be uniform across
1:29:40
he wasn't just going to take a hatchet and do the same across
1:29:43
all divisions he went home
1:29:45
Adam Curry: 30 million is only 10% How much of these guys
1:29:48
making an advertising? I mean,
1:29:54
Unknown: strategic and thoughtful about how it's done.
1:29:58
But you know this is necessary. only going to be us doing not
1:30:01
only less with less, but reconfiguring how we do it. He
1:30:04
said that this is going to be really the focus of how NPR
1:30:09
restructures itself in a significant way.
1:30:10
Now, what does that actually mean when he wants to be
1:30:13
thoughtful? I think this will be uniform across divisions. Can
1:30:18
you decipher what he's actually envisioning?
1:30:20
We don't know. We don't have that. But we do know is three
1:30:23
one div report on
1:30:25
Adam Curry: a deep dive reports reporting on ourselves. NPR is
1:30:29
an in I'm just reading from the website is an independent
1:30:31
nonprofit media organization that was founded on a mission to
1:30:34
create a more informed public every day, blah, blah, blah,
1:30:39
blah. 1000 stations through 1.6 million website visitors weekly
1:30:47
app users doesn't really say how they're funded or finances on
1:30:51
strategic
1:30:53
Unknown: priorities he's placing on it if you pack them together,
1:30:56
one of which is that he's talked about NPR North Star. And that
1:31:00
is both as a sense of mission and a sense of purpose. And
1:31:06
also, as a business proposition, NPR has to deepen and broaden
1:31:09
its audience to you know, seek younger and more diverse
1:31:13
audience base and that that's the way in which he was building
1:31:16
for the future. And he said that
1:31:17
Adam Curry: wait a minute, they have to seek younger and more
1:31:19
diverse audience base. This, this is death. Only old people
1:31:25
listen to NPR or they're going to jazz it up now. Like doo,
1:31:30
doo, HIPAA podcast podcasts. And until they wonder that what
1:31:33
John C Dvorak: you said is true. And well, let's roll it back.
1:31:35
And we have the demos on this. To use it phrase,
1:31:41
Adam Curry: you caught me flat footed when you called for the
1:31:43
demos on this, I wasn't ready for it another
1:31:46
Unknown: one of which is that he's talked about NPR North
1:31:49
Star. And that is that both as a sense of mission and a sense of
1:31:54
purpose. And also as a business proposition, NPR has to deepen
1:31:58
and broaden its audience to, you know, seek younger and more
1:32:02
diverse audience base and that that's the way in which he sees
1:32:06
building for the future. And he said that since he arrived in
1:32:08
the fall of 2019, he's also talked about unifying its
1:32:12
newsroom with its programming side, the programming is where
1:32:15
so much growth is, particularly in the podcasting division. But
1:32:18
these divisions in some ways are artificial. A lot of our
1:32:21
colleagues doing journalism are doing so under the rubric of
1:32:24
podcasting, but it's still really part of a greater
1:32:26
journalistic function. And so sure, so there's that. And he
1:32:31
says, you know, this was part of a strategic element beyond where
1:32:35
he wants to integrate NPR more fully with its stations
1:32:39
integrate both in terms of what we do content wise, but in terms
1:32:42
of raising money and distributing our content online.
1:32:45
Okay, so 10% of the workforce that's going to add up to about
1:32:48
100 jobs. As we know, NPR is not alone here. There are a whole
1:32:52
lot of media companies in a budget crunch. How does this
1:32:54
news today from our newsroom fit in with a broader picture of our
1:32:59
industry?
1:33:00
It's been a real crunch. You saw hundreds of layoffs at CNN, they
1:33:02
killed their projected streaming service costs, do they have
1:33:05
corporate underwriters and at CNN again, and plus you saw 7%
1:33:09
cuts at Vox media 6%, at Spotify, and Econet and you saw
1:33:13
these huge cuts these huge other places that Google Mehta,
1:33:18
Amazon, Microsoft that also rely on advertising dollars, it's one
1:33:22
of the first place corporate executives cut when they fear
1:33:25
the economy going soft as they have lately, even though the
1:33:29
unemployment rate remains very low.
1:33:31
Is NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik. And David, thank you
1:33:35
for reporting on NPR just as you would any other media company,
1:33:38
Adam Curry: all right from the website. A large portion of NPR
1:33:41
revenue comes from dues and fees paid by our member stations and
1:33:44
underwriting from underwriting from corporate sponsorships.
1:33:48
Other sources of revenue include include institutional grants,
1:33:51
individual comp contributions and fees paid by users of the
1:33:54
public radio satellite system. So here's the breakdown. 37% of
1:33:59
their revenue comes from corporate sponsorships, I
1:34:02
presume that's, you know, brought to you by Pfizer. 32% is
1:34:08
from core and other programming fees. Core and so I presume that
1:34:14
that they mean by that the member stations and fees paid by
1:34:19
public radio satellite system 12% Is contributions of cash and
1:34:24
financial assets. That's the Jay Rockefeller Foundation.
1:34:29
John C Dvorak: And he's sure that's not the public.
1:34:33
Adam Curry: It wasn't a public end and listeners like you
1:34:36
listeners like 7% is other revenues. Is that the
1:34:40
advertising part? Maybe? Closer to 10%? On Wait 5% Is the prss
1:34:46
satellite contracts? Okay, so the 30 maybe three in the 32% is
1:34:50
core. Look, I don't I think their charter specifically
1:34:54
forbids advertising. This
1:34:55
John C Dvorak: is what I don't understand is true anymore.
1:34:57
Adam Curry: I guess not altered. I think the Advertising is
1:35:00
probably only working on podcast. That's where they can
1:35:05
use advertising from, I believe previous research that we've
1:35:10
done.
1:35:10
John C Dvorak: Well, he's also that guy also hinted that the
1:35:14
podcasts were different in such a way that I think he hinted
1:35:18
that they do native ads on the podcasts. Well, that
1:35:21
Adam Curry: no, he says that's what they're going to do.
1:35:23
They're putting the programming and all the departments
1:35:27
together. And then it's like, well, you know, he's doing
1:35:30
podcasts, but they're really doing core journalism. I think
1:35:34
it's falling apart because of podcasting.
1:35:36
John C Dvorak: I, you know, you didn't get there as fat you got
1:35:39
there a little bit frozen. I mean, I've already thought that.
1:35:43
I'm totally convinced that's what it is. And it harkens back
1:35:46
a little bit on the, on the internet itself, and, and the
1:35:51
finances of how a newspaper makes money, and how a online
1:35:55
newspaper makes money. Right. So different, that you can't run
1:36:01
the New York Times, if it was just online, you have to have
1:36:04
the hard copy stuff, just expensive ads in the print
1:36:08
version. And you have to, I mean, like PC Magazine, in his
1:36:12
heyday, the one page ads were $50,000 Oh,
1:36:16
Adam Curry: man, that those days are long gone. And we're talking
1:36:19
John C Dvorak: about hundreds of pages of those ads. Twice a
1:36:24
month, it was glorious. It was flying all over the place. But
1:36:32
yes, and no, the point is, is that those days are over. And
1:36:37
the economics are different. And the same thing with podcasting.
1:36:41
Except for the fact that we do our we have our distribution to
1:36:45
our own system. If we were paying pod bean. We damn near
1:36:51
broke magic. And if we're paying 10 producers, that wouldn't help
1:36:55
either, but no, but But you pointed out in a thing you wrote
1:36:58
a long time ago, you said on something a long time ago, you
1:37:02
said that people don't understand that broadcasting and
1:37:04
podcasting have a different basic element of finance, in so
1:37:10
far is that a broadcast in terms of scalability, when a
1:37:14
broadcaster sends out a signal, and he's got 10,000 listeners,
1:37:20
it's costing him no more or less? Yes. And if he has 5000
1:37:24
listeners, or 2 million listeners, right, because it's a
1:37:28
broadcast signal, and it's broadcast, it goes everywhere,
1:37:30
and people pick it up where they don't, with, with anything over
1:37:33
the internet, if you got 100 listeners, listen to your
1:37:37
podcast, the amount of bandwidth it's going to cost you is not
1:37:41
the same. If you have a million or 10 million, it's going to
1:37:46
cost you a lot of money. And it's and it doesn't scale. In
1:37:50
that way. At scale. You can get that many people but you're
1:37:53
gonna have to pay more for the bandwidth because it costs money
1:37:55
to put stuff on the internet, it doesn't so much with
1:37:58
broadcasting. And you totally get that you won't realize that
1:38:02
podcasting is completely different. Also, the
1:38:07
Adam Curry: there's a huge difference in podcasting,
1:38:10
really, you and I and you helped actually spend about $65 million
1:38:17
dollars worth of investors money to find out that a single
1:38:21
podcast can be very successful can run on its own. If you run
1:38:24
it lean and mean if you do most of the work yourself. Use the
1:38:29
tools that are available. The mini
1:38:31
John C Dvorak: def some skills. Yeah, of course,
1:38:33
Adam Curry: you have to have some skills. It's like you can't
1:38:36
just start a band, you know, yeah, you can't just can't play
1:38:39
the guitar, you need to play be able to play the guitar or do
1:38:42
something or you know, work some electronics. The minute you
1:38:47
build that into a network, which is always the mistake made it
1:38:50
myself. And you know, as I say you cannot monetize the network.
1:38:56
That just does not work when people know they can do things
1:38:59
on their own. They come from their own their own system,
1:39:02
you'll never be able to make everybody happy with the ads,
1:39:06
the distribution of ads, the distribution of money, the
1:39:09
promotion, it just it becomes a quagmire and this is the mistake
1:39:12
that Spotify made and I advise them don't do this. This is not
1:39:17
the way to go. They of course why would you listen to me? I
1:39:22
only only only blew 65 million you know, they're they're close
1:39:26
to 650 million that they probably more they blew on their
1:39:31
little experiment there. It just doesn't work and now we have
1:39:34
this really bad downturn in advertising. And it's it's so
1:39:39
bad that they're it's hitting NPR which is not even supposed
1:39:42
to have advertising and that has to be because the only money
1:39:47
that's really working I think is on the podcast side because
1:39:50
that's where they can do the ads. And and the the radio is
1:39:54
just too expensive. The days are over when you had the A
1:40:00
narrowcast you had a couple of channels and there's just too
1:40:03
much offering. There's too much and and I bet
1:40:09
John C Dvorak: you overlooked a lean and mean.
1:40:13
Adam Curry: So the No, that's no, that's what I'm saying.
1:40:15
Broadcast is not is by definition not lean and mean.
1:40:19
That generally, you know, that's the guy unions. And now once a
1:40:24
union once you got into, you know, Spotify, you got it. Yeah,
1:40:30
you know, and then the money was flowing and it was an ESG check
1:40:36
mark for everybody's like, hey, you know, we got to do something
1:40:39
for bipoc podcasters Do we have any? No, but we'll go make some
1:40:45
and off run all the consultants and they make bipoc podcast and
1:40:49
they get big companies to sponsor them and they and they
1:40:52
you watch the the big conferences like Podcast
1:40:57
Movement, and they're all gonna go down the drain now because
1:41:00
the money is done. There's not there's not a dream by now. No,
1:41:05
they were riding high on the on the zero interest rate free
1:41:09
money. And now you see that even though it's it's not great for
1:41:14
us, it's been better. We're gonna survive this. You know, we
1:41:17
can tighten our belts. But when you have to tighten the belt to
1:41:20
the whole organization, yeah, it just doesn't work that way. And
1:41:23
then you got to kick people out. Morale goes down. People start
1:41:27
stealing stuff. Pencils and microphones and all kinds of
1:41:34
stuff starts turning up missing people started having sex on the
1:41:38
CEOs desk out of spite. Now this is not going to go well. So
1:41:43
let's take
1:41:43
John C Dvorak: a look Amanda page of the NPR podcast page.
1:41:47
Yes. Now they have dozens and dozens of parameters just to
1:41:52
name a few these tell me have you ever heard of any of you
1:41:54
okay. Okay, we got up first to say yes or no first No. Embedded
1:42:01
featuring white lies. No, no. Here and now and anytime. Yeah,
1:42:07
here and now anytime I've heard of this one. Yes. Oh, you have
1:42:11
planet money you have Yep. Life kit. No wisdom from the top No.
1:42:19
Ultimate COPPA.
1:42:20
Adam Curry: Now that I'm canceling that one right away.
1:42:24
John C Dvorak: code switch. Yes, I've heard of that one. Really?
1:42:28
Well as well you keep up with this little more Naidu thought
1:42:31
these I'd never heard of any of these through line now. No, it's
1:42:35
been a minute No. rough translation No. Book of the day.
1:42:40
No. Radio Ambulante on our watch
1:42:47
Adam Curry: on our what know
1:42:49
John C Dvorak: the limits
1:42:51
Adam Curry: how many podcasts they have
1:42:52
John C Dvorak: no copyright we go on? No compromise. No. Story
1:42:57
core. Troll room chime in if
1:42:59
Adam Curry: you've heard any of these No.
1:43:03
John C Dvorak: Believed
1:43:04
Adam Curry: no proof.
1:43:07
John C Dvorak: This is bad. Yeah, pop culture happy hour.
1:43:11
Adam Curry: No. We're canceling that one to note we're canceling
1:43:16
that one. No, no, no, no no. What's
1:43:18
John C Dvorak: good with stretch and Bobbito? No. Bullseye only a
1:43:26
game? No. Invisibility
1:43:30
Adam Curry: Yes. Yes. I've heard of this one. No, no, I guess
1:43:33
not.
1:43:34
John C Dvorak: Tiny Desk
1:43:36
Adam Curry: Tiny Desk that's what everyone's getting now at
1:43:38
NPR. I have not heard of the
1:43:40
John C Dvorak: T No. Louder than a riot.
1:43:44
Adam Curry: No. No
1:43:45
John C Dvorak: all songs considered.
1:43:48
Adam Curry: That's that's a that's a build out of All Things
1:43:52
Considered. I guess. Some of the top we already mentioned from
1:43:57
the top. So there's another one from the top. Oh, they're
1:44:00
doubling up.
1:44:01
John C Dvorak: Jazz Night in America.
1:44:05
Adam Curry: Very popular jazz mod. I want to do jobs Night in
1:44:10
America from NPR. Yeah, I want mountain
1:44:14
John C Dvorak: stage with someone Hey, can Zippy get a
1:44:18
show with those guys? It sounds like a bonanza World Cafe. Okay,
1:44:23
I'm done. Once up and I left you out
1:44:27
Adam Curry: of world bonanza. No, I don't know any of you. But
1:44:30
I'd know I probably don't know 99% Of all podcasts of the
1:44:34
course. There's 4 million of them. And when we had to
1:44:37
downgrade we had to do some chop and drop. There's really 3.9
1:44:41
now. Yeah, well close enough. Yeah. I would just say shopping
1:44:45
drop. Operation chop and drop.
1:44:47
John C Dvorak: Is this a little too much inside baseball for
1:44:49
most of these people that listen to our show? No, I buy it.
1:44:53
People enjoy seeing us entertain I think people
1:44:55
Adam Curry: who listen to our show or show enjoy the fact that
1:44:58
we don't have to have some sad story. Well, looks like we're
1:45:02
gonna have to drop 50% of the show, John. Sorry,
1:45:06
John C Dvorak: you can't go down to an hour.
1:45:09
Adam Curry: Right? We got to do less show now. Although your
1:45:12
your bandwidth story that has changed a little bit, but
1:45:16
certainly not 15 years ago, these days Cloudflare. And this,
1:45:21
we don't want to be dependent, the Cloudflare has, has D
1:45:24
Platform podcast or some Yeah, I think an actual podcast, that
1:45:28
they would not proxy it. That's the whole point is that we have
1:45:33
producers, who've taken this envoys zero, of course, has done
1:45:37
this, almost from day one, made sure that we had our own
1:45:41
infrastructure own system. And with very, it's very affordable
1:45:46
for us. It's not free, but it's affordable.
1:45:49
John C Dvorak: That's free, that's for sure. No,
1:45:51
Adam Curry: but But it's reliable. And I thought being,
1:45:55
hey, you know, I have to I have to say pod bean released their
1:45:59
new app. And they actually have a couple podcasts and 2.0
1:46:03
features in there. So I feel bad about about using pod Bean as a
1:46:09
as a as a bad example.
1:46:12
John C Dvorak: It's me, I'm doing doing it. And it's not a
1:46:15
bad example. I think pod bean does a pretty good job, except
1:46:18
that they charge a lot. And if you're in there, you don't get
1:46:22
you know, there's no I mean, what's the point? Why don't you
1:46:24
just do it yourself? Yeah, people don't want to do it
1:46:29
themselves. They don't want to look into it. I mean, it's
1:46:31
cheaper. If you can find it, you know, you could do it out of
1:46:34
your home, you could do it from your own server. If you could
1:46:37
get a deal with your whoever's doing your training for the
1:46:40
internet. I think
1:46:41
Adam Curry: the the point that we've made in podcasting, and we
1:46:44
should move on to something else, is that value for value
1:46:47
works. And this means that you don't have to have 850,000
1:46:52
people, you just need, if you can get 100 people who will
1:46:56
support you regularly, you win, if they'll support you at the
1:47:01
level that they get out of the value that get out of what
1:47:04
you're doing. And that and that's where that should really
1:47:07
be the only reason for existence. People still have
1:47:10
this broadcast mentality. We saw the same thing with blogs. Yeah,
1:47:16
I got a blog. I'm gonna be millionaire like Andrew, what's
1:47:20
his name? Sullivan.
1:47:22
John C Dvorak: Yeah, Andrew Sullivan, who dropped the ball.
1:47:26
You did? Now, he just couldn't figure out why he did that. But
1:47:30
Adam Curry: just because you can. Podcast doesn't mean that
1:47:34
it should be worth anything. If it is, it'll come back to you.
1:47:38
And as we've learned, the more listeners you get, the less the
1:47:43
participation rate in the donations. Which Someone asked,
1:47:47
someone asked me, Hey, I heard you guys say you get like 4%,
1:47:50
which is high, but I think you're right, two to 3% of those
1:47:53
people that listen, support us. And the question was why? Why
1:47:59
can you answer that? Yeah.
1:48:02
John C Dvorak: That's just human nature is the way it is with
1:48:04
everything. With your been involved with direct marketing,
1:48:07
you know, immediately that you're gonna get, you can do the
1:48:10
numbers and you can know how much money you're going to make
1:48:12
an advance of something you're going to try to sell.
1:48:16
Adam Curry: But we asked them all the time, and they just they
1:48:19
hate us for some reason.
1:48:21
John C Dvorak: No, do you have to ask them all the time,
1:48:23
because otherwise they'll forget the audience. We always have to
1:48:26
remember the basics. And people out there trying to do
1:48:28
podcasting should know this. It's like, people, your podcast
1:48:33
isn't the most important thing in anyone's life, except you
1:48:36
maybe and that might be true. And so they're always forgetting
1:48:40
that you even exist. So you have to say, Hey, I'm here. And you
1:48:44
know, we're looking for some more donations. Oh, yeah. You
1:48:47
guys, so Alright, okay. Otherwise, you're just going to
1:48:50
be forgotten.
1:48:51
Adam Curry: I wonder if people who listen at high speed don't
1:48:54
donate?
1:48:56
John C Dvorak: Oh, I'm sure that people listening in high speed
1:48:58
don't donate. I'm curious about the fact once. Let's let's see.
1:49:02
Here's an example. We have our friend a sheriff of Texas. Jean
1:49:08
Hmm. He stopped donating once he started listening in high speed.
1:49:12
Have you noticed this interesting,
1:49:13
Adam Curry: interesting correlation. Hmm. It rots your
1:49:19
brain and it moves. It moves you away from me. It makes you
1:49:24
greedy. It makes you greedy.
1:49:27
John C Dvorak: Yeah, that was you because the greed of trying
1:49:31
to cram in a three hour podcast you know it two hours carries
1:49:35
Adam Curry: over to your whole being.
1:49:37
John C Dvorak: It's a gestalt I suppose it's a bad Gestalt. A
1:49:41
BG?
1:49:44
Adam Curry: there and you know what, there's more under under
1:49:46
attack right now. This is my favorite story of the moment
1:49:49
because the outcome of this could change the internet
1:49:51
forever.
1:49:52
Unknown: This morning. The killing of American college
1:49:54
student Naomi Gonzalez in the 2015 ISIS terror attacks in
1:49:58
Paris is a case before The Supreme Court I've never done
1:50:04
something I could never imagine. Her parents claim YouTube's
1:50:09
algorithms highlighted ISIS produced materials and further
1:50:13
radicalized the extremists that killed their daughter.
1:50:16
Hopefully by, by this, change the laws and that'll be for the
1:50:21
good.
1:50:22
Oral arguments today will center on section 230 of the
1:50:25
Communications Decency Act of 1996, which says internet
1:50:29
companies, including social media platforms cannot be sued
1:50:32
over third party content uploaded by users. But some
1:50:36
legal experts say social media platforms are responsible for
1:50:40
their content,
1:50:41
they get to decide what to carry, they get to decide what
1:50:43
not to carry. And they get to decide how to design their
1:50:45
algorithms to amplify certain types of content.
1:50:48
Another case being heard by the High Court today is the case of
1:50:51
Anthony Nowak of Ohio arrested in 2016. After making a phony
1:50:56
Police Facebook page with fake announcements. He says it was
1:50:59
obviously a joke,
1:51:01
you click the page, it's very obvious and even what you're
1:51:03
reading should strike you as off.
1:51:06
Local police weren't laughing, charging him with disruption of
1:51:09
law enforcement operations, a jury found him not guilty. But
1:51:12
he wants the supreme court to grant him the right to sue
1:51:15
police for violating his civil rights.
1:51:17
They raided my house, they took my electronics, they arrested me
1:51:21
my image was blasted all over the news. I didn't do anything
1:51:24
wrong. So I don't want them to think that's okay. Because I
1:51:27
kind of think they do.
1:51:28
Both these cases could have big implications, one potentially
1:51:32
making social media platforms more liable for their content,
1:51:35
the other could draw the line between parity and public
1:51:39
safety.
1:51:40
Adam Curry: So this, of course, is about power of over the
1:51:43
internet. That's the only thing that this is about. No one
1:51:47
cares. Who got hurt by the Internet. What do you think this
1:51:51
will land?
1:51:53
John C Dvorak: Well, this is gonna be this is a big deal.
1:51:56
Yeah. And it was that is that it's just it's going to be in
1:52:01
the Supreme Court's hands, and they're going to have to deal
1:52:04
with it. We do notice that Robert and Kevin are flip
1:52:09
flopping liberal to conservative, curiously,
1:52:13
Kavanaugh, you think he'd be so irked by the treatment?
1:52:16
Adam Curry: I thought Kavanaugh was conservative.
1:52:19
John C Dvorak: He is but he's flip flopping just like Roberts.
1:52:22
Oh, there's a recent case on this recent kind of issue or in
1:52:25
general on all issues. He's there was a recent case where he
1:52:29
did that was a clear conservative values versus
1:52:33
liberal values, a traditional liberal values, and he flipped
1:52:37
over. And it's it's I think the Supreme Court is in pretty good
1:52:41
shape. And so far as honesty about their positions. And they
1:52:45
do this, you know, you don't know what's going to happen when
1:52:47
you get to when the guy gets in there. And I think they're going
1:52:50
to have they're going to take a good hard look at this. And
1:52:52
whatever they come up with is going to be fascinating.
1:52:55
Adam Curry: I really hope they destroy it all. I mean, I'm kind
1:52:58
of on your side. I do I want it all to be destroyed. I want you
1:53:02
in case you off. I should probably play this because this
1:53:05
is do we have it here? Yes, this is as predicted
1:53:11
Unknown: as predict changes coming to Instagram and Facebook
1:53:14
users will soon need to pay if they want to become a verified
1:53:17
account. It's a move that follows in Twitter's footsteps.
1:53:20
CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the new subscription services aimed at
1:53:23
improving security for 1199 a month, you'll get a blue
1:53:26
verified badge and direct access to customer support. The program
1:53:30
rolls out this week in Australia launching in the US a little bit
1:53:33
later this year.
1:53:34
Adam Curry: So two reasons. Two reasons for this one,
1:53:37
financially verified is much better than just verified. So
1:53:41
now we know where to go to get you if you post some trolling
1:53:45
comment, and it'll be perfect because we want to be your bank.
1:53:50
So now Elon Musk gets a little competition from the meta boys
1:53:53
and girl right
1:53:53
John C Dvorak: off the bat. I mean, you get this guy, so
1:53:55
they're not dummies, and they see what he's up to. And they
1:53:59
wish you saw and I saw that what he's up to.
1:54:02
Adam Curry: I hope they destroy it all because we'll still have
1:54:06
our own protocols. We'll I mean, anyone who has Gmail, you're
1:54:10
screwed. You might as well get get another account somewhere,
1:54:14
because that's gonna be gone. But everything else will still
1:54:17
be able to commit and podcast will continue. It will probably
1:54:19
be the only thing left on the internet
1:54:23
John C Dvorak: to play or know quite how to attack it.
1:54:25
Adam Curry: How can you it's truly that they keep trying.
1:54:31
They keep trying to attack it
1:54:32
John C Dvorak: is probably more I'd say slander action. Libel
1:54:39
action on podcasts. Yeah. Than anywhere. Problem is is so
1:54:46
linear, and you're not that it's impossible to track it down.
1:54:51
Adam Curry: Well, you know, because they keep threatening
1:54:54
the DOJ, AI and machine learning will be able to figure out hey,
1:54:57
we publish a transcript on every single Show. So if you want to
1:55:01
know if we slandered you, you can just read the transcript.
1:55:04
But now they're going to the law enforcement of the internet, the
1:55:07
internet, police are going to figure it all out. Yeah, we can
1:55:10
do. We can do that with machine learning. No, you can't. It
1:55:14
doesn't work. None of it works. And then the biggest thing is it
1:55:19
John C Dvorak: works is the
1:55:22
Adam Curry: worst part is alright, you want to sue us? All
1:55:25
right. Good luck. What do you all you can take my house, I
1:55:30
guess. You chop it up for firewood? There's no money in
1:55:34
suing a little podcasters.
1:55:37
John C Dvorak: Debt. That's the that is the problem. Yeah.
1:55:40
That's the one so why bother even cares what they say? No, I
1:55:44
mean, we don't slander or libel people. Because we actually know
1:55:47
the laws. Yeah. But there's plenty of it going on. Yes. But
1:55:53
again, like you said, these podcasts are set for realistic
1:55:56
came out of Barstool Sports or something like that. They don't
1:56:00
have any money. Well, yeah, we'll call her daddy or
1:56:02
something like that. But even if she makes big dough, even Joe
1:56:04
Adam Curry: Rogan this I don't think there's ever been a
1:56:08
slander lawsuit against Joe Rogan. And there's some money to
1:56:12
be gotten there in that interesting. Yeah. Maybe people
1:56:18
just don't care.
1:56:19
John C Dvorak: Well, you know if they wanted this, and also,
1:56:21
there's all this, like, dozens of podcasts I just ran through
1:56:25
and NPR is just basically they're people just shooting
1:56:29
this shit and saying dumb stuff. Sure. There's lawsuits there.
1:56:32
And then PRs got less than $300 million budget. That's plenty of
1:56:37
that's somewhat deep.
1:56:39
Adam Curry: Yeah. Mark advertising, no less. Anyway,
1:56:44
the world's in trouble. It's all burning. And I'd like to I'd
1:56:48
like to hear your side Hersha clips before we take a break.
1:56:51
Oh, sure. Because I like what her like which side versus right
1:56:54
Shy? Shy. Hirsch
1:56:58
John C Dvorak: was on of all things. He's with a breed the
1:57:01
British guy, comedian, Russell Brand.
1:57:05
Adam Curry: Oh, yes. I saw this. That was rather interesting.
1:57:09
Well, I
1:57:09
John C Dvorak: thought it was interesting from the perspective
1:57:11
that Russell Brand is a pretty good interviewer with a guy like
1:57:15
Psy hearse because He disarmed him by insulting him
1:57:18
Adam Curry: right off the bat. It was very good. Right
1:57:20
John C Dvorak: off the bat.
1:57:21
Adam Curry: It was very good. I agree about his hat. Right.
1:57:24
John C Dvorak: Well, those that was psi insulting brand, are
1:57:28
mentioning the hat, which tipped brand off that Oh, you want to
1:57:31
play that game? Right. Right. Right. So they went back and
1:57:34
forth. And he really gave it to psi. And he was cracking up. It
1:57:39
was good. Well, Sy
1:57:40
Adam Curry: Hersh has humor and you have to have humorous as
1:57:43
Seymour Hersh, when you're being called a liar. A Putin puppet?
1:57:49
Yeah. There was something else that he did early on. It was
1:57:52
before it before the Russia collusion that he also called
1:57:56
bullcrap. On they, Oh, it's something with Obama, I think
1:57:59
wasn't something with Obama.
1:58:01
John C Dvorak: Well, he could say he has a he's got a good he
1:58:04
handled it well, to the point where he I know he did. Didn't
1:58:08
expect to do much on the show and ended up talking and talking
1:58:11
and talking. I gotta go. But let me tell you this. Yeah. So but
1:58:16
there's only two things I thought were interesting one.
1:58:18
Well, there was two little things up and it was about that
1:58:21
balloons. And this is sy hearse on the Alaska balloon, that
1:58:25
balloon
1:58:26
Unknown: and indeed the shooting down of the Balloon. Balloon is
1:58:30
going to tell you a little bit about the balloons. Yeah.
1:58:35
I asked somebody about AI friends and I said what what's
1:58:37
going on with the balloons? Of course, they've been there
1:58:39
forever. Maybe you could argue they could take photographs of
1:58:44
weather satellite could see much better. But basically the last
1:58:48
way though the unnamed car like with American press so full of
1:58:51
it. It turns out there's the federal government has a
1:58:55
contract with with the Meteorology Department or
1:58:58
whatever it is weather department at the University of
1:59:00
Alaska in Fairbanks. And that is one coal place. It's way up
1:59:03
there. Also, most of the classes are underground. You go
1:59:07
underground. The classes I spoken there I know about this
1:59:10
firsthand. And over the Arctic Circle is the Arctic Circle is a
1:59:15
the everybody flies the polar room from Europe, from Asia to
1:59:18
America. And there's no weather station there. So the university
1:59:24
put has these little vehicles that goes and reports. Pilots
1:59:28
want to know if there's any unusual weather going on. That's
1:59:31
what you have to do. And they are reporters of that, that that
1:59:35
information. And that's what was shot down. One of those things
1:59:37
was shot down was one of those units that is sent up by a
1:59:40
university under but paid by the government.
1:59:44
Adam Curry: Yeah, I didn't know that. That was pretty
1:59:45
interesting. Yeah,
1:59:46
John C Dvorak: I thought that was good too. But then he has a
1:59:48
real screwball story about the F 22. And as shooting down to
1:59:53
balloon and this is I recorded it and put this on here because
1:59:57
I thought it was funny,
1:59:59
Unknown: but a lot of money for the was 22 and its first kill
2:00:02
was the first balloon that when that one came over was
2:00:05
discovered over Montana and the pilot and I'd like to think that
2:00:10
he knows exactly what he's doing when he landed you know in World
2:00:14
War Two your guys and your Spitfires and I said RP 50 ones
2:00:17
you took care of every Messerschmitt you put a little
2:00:19
you painted on the side of decal for the kills. We did the same
2:00:23
and in Asia when the RP RP 50 ones so the pilot of this f 22
2:00:29
Getting the first kill of this plane painted a blue on the side
2:00:34
of a sash fictionalized I'd love to think he was joking I don't
2:00:37
know that I know he did it. I don't know whether what was in
2:00:39
the state of mind. But that's what we're doing now. We've got
2:00:42
to kill we kill the balloon. That's worth a couple. Couple of
2:00:46
few 100 billion dollars for a plane.
2:00:49
Adam Curry: It's such a joke and I think all of that balloon
2:00:51
stuff that was just there to distract everyone from Hirsch's
2:00:54
actual report.
2:00:56
John C Dvorak: I believe you I think so too.
2:00:59
Adam Curry: You do believe?
2:01:00
John C Dvorak: I do believe?
2:01:02
Adam Curry: certainly seems like that. Most definitely. Yeah.
2:01:06
Well, Russell Brand what does he have 6 million subscribers on
2:01:10
his YouTube? I sure does. He didn't he? I think he's on
2:01:14
rumble now too, as a backup.
2:01:16
John C Dvorak: This was on rumble.
2:01:18
Adam Curry: Oh good. He's gonna need that. He's gonna need that.
2:01:21
Will's gonna He's gonna need that. And with that, I'd like to
2:01:24
thank you for your courage so in the morning to you the man who
2:01:27
put the seat and call it advertising ladies and gentlemen
2:01:30
please say hello to my friend on the other end Mr. John
2:01:35
John C Dvorak: Darren O'Neill and you there i in the morning
2:01:38
to you in the morning all ships to see boots on the ground feet
2:01:40
in the air subs in the water and all the dams and nice out there
2:01:43
you one foot 1.5 speed slower down. This is good stuff here.
2:01:48
Adam Curry: I'm gonna have to do that from time to time when
2:01:50
people go oh, I just heard someone talking in normal
2:01:52
parlance. That's right in the morning to all the trolls in our
2:01:56
troll room troll room.io Let's see these are the people who
2:02:00
hang out there have been very helpful actually today, except
2:02:03
for blue Deus 33 Now for some reason I can't keep people out
2:02:07
anymore. There's something wrong. I don't have the power. I
2:02:10
don't have any more God power so I'm feel bad. And the trolls
2:02:14
they listen live. You can do that by getting a modern podcast
2:02:18
app with a new domain name podcast apps.com You don't have
2:02:22
to put the new in front of it. Now you can pick up one of those
2:02:24
apps that will alert you to when we're going live or late as we
2:02:28
say in podcasting 2.0 language. I like pod verse podcast attic
2:02:32
does you can also listen live on curio caster, you'll get the the
2:02:36
troll room right there with the live stream the same place you
2:02:39
get your podcast apps. And a reminder, if you want to try out
2:02:42
a different podcast app, you can export all your podcasts from
2:02:45
the current one you're using it and import it into a new one. So
2:02:49
you don't really miss out on anything. Today, what is good
2:02:57
for Thursday?
2:03:00
John C Dvorak: 18th 18th Hundreds Yeah, we're low
2:03:02
Adam Curry: 1721 Oh, my ad? Oh, oh. Oh, no. We've lost all our
2:03:10
trolls. Oh, my goodness. And we love the troll so much. Well, we
2:03:15
hope you come back or at least we hope that you hang out, hang
2:03:18
out with us at no agenda. social.com probably the most
2:03:21
blocked instance in the fediverse There's reasons. And
2:03:26
we were happy about that. That's the way it should be. That's how
2:03:30
the internet should work. If you don't like something, it's a bug
2:03:34
just route around it as perfect perfectly. Okay, follow Jhansi
2:03:38
Dvorak had no agenda social.com or Adam at no agenda social.com
2:03:42
And I would like to thank the artists who brought us the
2:03:44
artwork for episode 1531 We titled that one the dead name.
2:03:50
And you know, I have to say that just didn't feel like there was
2:03:54
a lot and a funny enough for the rant I put out about Tucker
2:03:59
Carlson and Don Lemon. The best art which we kind of liked was
2:04:04
the lemon sour sour puss punch, which had a caricature of Don
2:04:09
Lemon on the bike as a lemon as a lemon. It was a I thought it
2:04:13
was a good caricature it really
2:04:16
John C Dvorak: on the on the webpage popped like hell I
2:04:18
didn't realize how good that thing looks when it was actually
2:04:22
produced. No
2:04:23
Adam Curry: It popped massively neck networks did this by the
2:04:27
way. And I a lot of people got it. They thought it was funny,
2:04:31
but I don't know. It feels like I mean, even today I'm seeing
2:04:37
kind of a low turnout on the arts. I mean, it's possible that
2:04:40
people have other things to do it is after all, it's still
2:04:43
black history month. We had Presidents Day on Monday, which
2:04:50
mountain Jay was just swinging for the fences on trying to get
2:04:54
a president sale best price with coins Let's discuss this job
2:05:00
because I think sometimes artists when they're just trying
2:05:04
to swing at it and art director was comic strip blogger I see.
2:05:09
Oh, there you go. Now I know what the problem was. Mountain J
2:05:13
worked with comic strip blogger on trying to create a piece that
2:05:16
would win that kind of that kind of makes it understandable Can
2:05:23
you explain how this how wrong this was in this case?
2:05:27
John C Dvorak: Which one now the coins the President's Day sale
2:05:30
the coins they were posted to live?
2:05:32
Adam Curry: Yeah, eight times over they were posted.
2:05:35
John C Dvorak: Did it just was not it was this is an example of
2:05:40
an artist getting a hair up their ass and knowing there's
2:05:46
something there but they can't get it themselves. In fact, if
2:05:49
you I will tell you this if an artist repeats the same piece
2:05:52
over and over and starts changing things, yes. And they
2:05:55
don't have confidence in the piece, right? It's just saying
2:05:58
Well, maybe if I did this, maybe if I did this before we even
2:06:01
looked at it once right? And so they're already so this kind of
2:06:05
a giveaway that there's something amiss now once in a
2:06:07
while you see a couple of maybe two variations on something or
2:06:10
somebody just changes the background and okay, that kind
2:06:13
of works I think I don't know what the what the point of these
2:06:15
coins Well
2:06:16
Adam Curry: I think what happened was it might might have
2:06:20
been mountain J to almost one the episode before or maybe even
2:06:26
one before that, which was the best price and we chose for I
2:06:31
think some Balloon Art. Let me see if that was mountain J
2:06:34
John C Dvorak: Yeah, that was the balloon or no that was to
2:06:37
Neil and I was talking to Neil it was Tanzania and it was a
2:06:40
balloon is shaped like a heart
2:06:42
Adam Curry: yes that's the one we wound up choosing but so for
2:06:45
some reason best price that that that I think that's really more
2:06:50
of an inside joke and it only works when you do it with a
2:06:52
racist acts and best price doesn't really work otherwise.
2:06:56
So I have a feeling that that somehow they got
2:06:58
John C Dvorak: mixed up her last one which is the prison sale
2:07:01
best price. Yeah. And I don't know wishes custom licensed to
2:07:05
art what was licensed? What uh,
2:07:09
Adam Curry: I don't know. They can't they lag maybe but you
2:07:15
know, if you look down below it's like comic strip blogger
2:07:18
was the art director I mean, that's sudden death right there
2:07:20
why would you take our direction from comics or Blogger or he
2:07:23
does his butts
2:07:26
John C Dvorak: well now he's doing almost exclusively Yeah,
2:07:30
AI art AI art to some of his pretty good I liked his piece
2:07:35
but it was never gonna get picked which was the Biden one
2:07:38
when he looks like he's just a skirt crazy Biden picture it was
2:07:43
nice was it two shows ago maybe
2:07:45
Adam Curry: no L L Biden. l Biden.
2:07:47
John C Dvorak: Yeah. Peace
2:07:52
Adam Curry: see what else would we have nothing else here
2:07:54
John C Dvorak: was really that great. I mean, I did use another
2:07:56
nest workspace for the newsletter which was the this
2:08:00
false claims sauce with Oh, like I care a cartoon eyes version
2:08:06
looks like a cartoon eyes version of
2:08:08
Adam Curry: clamshell Schiff
2:08:11
John C Dvorak: No, that's holding it Yeah. I think it's
2:08:13
supposed to be ship I don't know it could be anybody but he's got
2:08:16
any holding this can it's just a nice pretty piece and he's got
2:08:20
this little thing in the background of the guy's head
2:08:22
that whatever is called his name for it.
2:08:26
Adam Curry: So other choices that we had we need more ammo
2:08:30
that didn't really work there wasn't a lot of lot of choice. I
2:08:33
don't Raph there was a made Marriott kind of a joker piece
2:08:38
but that you know had a number on we try not to use episode
2:08:42
number art. No agenda Google ITM was nice piece, but now didn't
2:08:48
really take us the Tesla recall by capitalist agenda. No. And
2:08:53
just I didn't get that one. And that was kind of it. But what
2:08:59
else? There wasn't a lot of offering. No, I
2:09:01
John C Dvorak: thought it was flat.
2:09:04
Adam Curry: Your flat, everybody's flat and still
2:09:07
looking flat. So we can get something good for this. This
2:09:11
episode. Maybe ever and maybe everyone's broke and out of
2:09:14
ideas
2:09:16
John C Dvorak: broken out of a company and just like a
2:09:17
depression. I've always said to depression people don't
2:09:20
understand what a depression is. They have this you know reasons
2:09:23
you can do some calculation or unit of depression. People are
2:09:26
depressed in a depression. But also he gets called a depressed
2:09:31
because they're literally depressed. He's not really want
2:09:35
to go to work.
2:09:36
Adam Curry: So that during bad economic times and depressions,
2:09:40
some of the best art is created.
2:09:42
John C Dvorak: I'm beginning to think that's a myth, I think was
2:09:45
doing
2:09:45
Adam Curry: some of our best work personally. Maybe,
2:09:51
personally, I think we're knocking it out of the park
2:09:54
here. If you listen at one time speed, otherwise Yeah, it all
2:09:58
just blends together. Maybe people have just gone nuts. Now
2:10:03
if it's not the outrage of the day, then whatever. We've been
2:10:10
through these cycles, we've seen it all. We've seen it all.
2:10:13
outrage of the day. Congratulations to networks.
2:10:15
Thank you so much with this equal opportunity offenders here
2:10:19
for anybody who wants to try their hand at creating the art
2:10:22
that we'll use for episode 1532 which is this one. By the way, I
2:10:25
really liked that graffiti as you would call graffiti from
2:10:29
flood comment city.
2:10:31
John C Dvorak: I liked that piece a lot. Yeah, but it says
2:10:33
1532 We don't typically it is it is 1532. I know we don't
2:10:37
typically pick Nutella typically. But we've done it a
2:10:40
lot. So that's a nice summary. You can't beat that piece. I'm
2:10:43
voting so
2:10:43
Adam Curry: so far so far. Looks good. You can follow along no
2:10:46
agenda, our generator.com or one of those new podcast apps
2:10:49
podcast apps.com. All of them have the have the chapter
2:10:54
feature. And our very own Dred Scott does those after the fact
2:10:58
adds them all in and adds a lot of the art that didn't make it
2:11:01
which is a fun way to display that as well. And of course,
2:11:04
some of this art actually winds up in no agenda shop.com I saw a
2:11:07
new piece. The appetite for deconstruction is apparently now
2:11:11
on hoodies and T shirts and mugs. I can't wait to buy a
2:11:14
couple of them. I need a new hoodie. And that is you know
2:11:17
that's the the art that you didn't like the one with the
2:11:20
skulls. Yeah, the Guns and Roses. Dead logo to me is it's
2:11:25
actually taken from Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction.
2:11:28
So it's a it's a spoof, but I think it's beautiful. I want
2:11:33
when no agenda shop not affiliated with no agenda,
2:11:36
John C Dvorak: right in your Texas Hill Country. That's
2:11:37
Adam Curry: right. That's what we're a bunch of hillbillies
2:11:39
over here. And thank you of course networks and thanks to
2:11:42
all the artists you know, we give you these reviews because
2:11:44
no one else will be honest with you. We are and we and we
2:11:47
appreciate all the work that goes into it. Of course, we as
2:11:51
with all the things everyone does. 150 emails a day of people
2:11:54
with ideas with stories, with boots on the ground reports with
2:11:59
jingles with clips. It really is a time talent and treasure
2:12:04
mission is value for value and we'd like to thank we're gonna
2:12:07
thank everybody all in one go. We can do it once again. No two
2:12:10
no two segments necessary. And we start off with our executive
2:12:14
producers $300 and above of course Associate Executive
2:12:18
Producers 200 between 203 100 and kicking it off from Glen
2:12:22
Gardner New Jersey with $1,000 Sir never PC who says Dear John
2:12:30
Adam, thanks for your insights into the real truth behind the
2:12:32
deluge of propaganda we are bludgeoned with daily now there
2:12:37
it is. That's exactly what we legend we are we we protect you
2:12:41
from the bludgeoning I was hitting the mouth while
2:12:43
listening to Adam on the Jay ar e. Joe Rogan donation about a
2:12:48
year ago and have been an avid convert ever since. Well, you
2:12:51
don't have to convert you can stay a Jerry listeners Well, in
2:12:55
exchange for jingles and karma. I'd appreciate if you'd let me
2:12:58
shamelessly promote my revolutionary product that I
2:13:02
know can change the world. Oh yeah, this is great. This, this
2:13:05
is this is okay. Here's someone who understands value for
2:13:08
values. Here you go. My company is fuel ox fuel ox.com If you
2:13:13
elox.com And all of our products are sustainably focused. Our
2:13:17
infinity lubes are revolutionary, as they
2:13:20
outperform all others on the planet by hundreds of percent
2:13:24
and are completely non toxic and plant based. In fact, the East
2:13:28
Palestine disaster initiated by a wheel bearing that lack of
2:13:31
lubrication would have been completely avoided had they been
2:13:34
utilizing our infinite and to use infinity and infinity
2:13:38
supergreens. As I said, our infinity lubes are revolutionary
2:13:45
and have over 20 years of r&d to back them up needless to say,
2:13:50
The Old Guard petroleum based lubricant companies hate us and
2:13:53
will do everything they can to keep us from succeeding. And for
2:13:56
that reason, I guess our quest one jingle, please give me we
2:13:59
punch him in the mouth, which will be we hit him in the mouth.
2:14:02
John, have you tried this revolutionary product? And the
2:14:06
question I have is does it stack up against ranch hand?
2:14:10
John C Dvorak: Well, he's gonna send me some and YouTube No, I
2:14:14
wouldn't I'd love lube if you give him an address.
2:14:18
Adam Curry: I gave him my Pio box.
2:14:20
John C Dvorak: Oh, well then you'll get it. He I don't know I
2:14:23
don't know of any I don't know. Jimmy there's lubricants come
2:14:27
from everywhere and they're a lot of merges chemicals, they
2:14:30
have to have high lubrication factors. Poly Alpha olefins one
2:14:37
of them which is synthetic oils and which is one type of synth
2:14:41
dedic oil. I'll give it a shot. I mean, I like some something
2:14:47
that especially I got these, this little bottle of micro lube
2:14:50
is very, to put one small drop on something it's just think
2:14:54
goes nuts. So it's possible. It could be great stuff, but I
2:14:59
think he's wrong. Long about DoD hated by a small market, the big
2:15:04
oil companies don't care at all it but if you're if you make a
2:15:09
success out of it and you actually threaten their
2:15:11
business, they'll give you a lot of money to buy you out and do
2:15:15
it and then put their name on it and say hey, we're plant based,
2:15:18
right? It's bullcrap that part of it. I don't like that kind of
2:15:23
awkward promotion. You're not hated in other words.
2:15:28
Adam Curry: No, not by us. I love lube.
2:15:31
John C Dvorak: I bet you do. Hey,
2:15:34
Adam Curry: thank you very much sir never PC and
2:15:37
John C Dvorak: give it a try. We will promote him he'll give him
2:15:39
a plug and free plug in.
2:15:41
Adam Curry: Yeah, and I'll play that jingle as we end up the
2:15:44
donation segment that's what we use it for.
2:15:48
John C Dvorak: To onward with Dame Lady Bird in Provence all

2:17:07
a like a radio read and everything's all caps.
2:17:16
Unknown: You've got karma.
2:17:19
John C Dvorak: So she has a good hand as they like to say.
2:17:24
Adam Curry: Indeed. I guess I'm up here and we go. Randy Carlson

2:17:50

2:17:57
it's one of the sharpens. I'll see maybe it's in here.

2:19:24

2:21:09

which is by far the best one in my zip code if you include the
2:21:18
plus four we can do that a number time this is just to say
2:21:22
thank you for all you do you and John do and express my
2:21:24
appreciation for every last producer of the no agenda
2:21:28
podcast sincerely, Andrew aka surrounded by my privilege was
2:21:33
very nice.
2:21:34
John C Dvorak: Thank you so much. Yeah, it was nice. QQ is
2:21:37
up next I'll get the next two because QQ from Key West Florida
2:21:41
I know I can't find a notes are in 33 dogs but a double the
2:21:44
Carmine tonight would
2:21:45
Adam Curry: be Yeah, can I just say so I know. Q Q have met Q Q.
2:21:49
He was QQ like QQ is very Russian like but he's he's not
2:21:56
he's, I think he's from Moldova. And he's been giving a lot of
2:22:01
insight to the bullcrap there so it's been giving me boots on the
2:22:03
ground reports nothing that we are good for QQ QQ is very cool,
2:22:07
but I will give him a double karma. He deserves that for
2:22:09
sure. He's got karma.
2:22:15
John C Dvorak: That brings me to Dustin EQ in Williamsport,
2:22:18
Pennsylvania. And he came in with 333
2:22:21
Adam Curry: times where my family lives in Williamsport.
2:22:24
Oh, yeah,
2:22:25
John C Dvorak: ITM gentleman another Rogan donation been an
2:22:29
avid listener for over two years and this is my first donation of
2:22:32
V for V finally hit me in the mouth and brought me to my
2:22:34
senses. I would like to call out Zack Jeff and Jimmy. Zack do
2:22:43
Jeff Jimmy those three are all douchebags time to S H I T or
2:22:54
get off the pot boys little phrase. Anyway the work you guys
2:22:59
do is very under appreciated. We both agree with that. And I just
2:23:05
hope this small donation will help keep you guys around that
2:23:09
much longer. No jingles No comment. Just keep up the good
2:23:11
work.
2:23:11
Adam Curry: That's exactly how that thank you so much. That's
2:23:13
exactly how you have to think if you'd like that little store on
2:23:16
the corner and you don't go in and buy something from time to
2:23:19
time that little store on the corner will eventually go away
2:23:22
and you'll be sad. That's how you should look at it. So we're
2:23:25
just a little store on the corner of Maine. Don't think
2:23:28
much of Maine and the hood. Brian P Belen is in Asbury, New
2:23:33
Jersey. First Associate Executive Producer to one $50
2:23:36
Thanks for a great show. Please explain that vasectomy looks
2:23:39
better. wife wants me to get one I'm not down for it. Need more
2:23:43
reasons. Okay, we go to our resident vasectomy expert,
2:23:46
Jhansi Dvorak, who was developed and proven his theory multiple
2:23:50
times.
2:23:52
John C Dvorak: Well, I've started with a 1923. As when
2:23:56
vasectomy became popular, it was it was just a coincidence that
2:24:00
they noticed this is that a vasectomy was the substitute
2:24:07
earlier for de balling castrating prisoners who were
2:24:12
Sex Criminals when they had other issues. And they noticed
2:24:15
that a doctor would cut these guys balls off and then the guy
2:24:19
would come when he got out of prison and go kill the guy. So
2:24:25
oh, so that was working out. So they just so they came up with
2:24:28
this operation where they did this, what's essential, which
2:24:32
became a vasectomy, which they accomplish the same thing. In
2:24:36
other words, you got D nutted. And but it was the guy looked
2:24:41
down a look fine. It is too dumb to know that anything happened.
2:24:45
So he didn't get killed the doctor event but they started
2:24:48
noticing that these guys started to have a youthful look. as they
2:24:52
got older they started looking like young lesbians, but they
2:24:57
still it was useful. You look good. Yes, that's gain was
2:25:00
smooth and in so many wrinkles there was a number of things and
2:25:02
it became a rage in the 20s and there's a lot of research done
2:25:06
on not only you look better, but you also you might live longer
2:25:10
there's a million reasons these vasectomies were used for this
2:25:14
but but it was also noticed by myself and others that the look
2:25:19
was really a lay it all lesbian look developed it regular matter
2:25:25
a while then you started look like an old woman you had in the
2:25:29
skin was white is not a good thing. So I just waited P I
2:25:34
tried to dissuade people from getting vasectomy is but most of
2:25:37
the time the women have it, you know, the the spouse look,
2:25:43
Adam Curry: if she wants it, and you're gonna do it, she got you
2:25:45
by the balls already, brother. So you might as well just get
2:25:48
get
2:25:50
John C Dvorak: and why she says well, there's other things you
2:25:52
could do.
2:25:53
Adam Curry: Well, here's the here's the one thing, and I
2:25:56
don't know how old you are, Brian, but my good friend Mike.
2:26:00
He's the former cop from Kerrville with anger management
2:26:02
issues. And so He's really He's remarried and you know, he's now
2:26:08
50 is in his 50s and is significantly younger hot wife
2:26:14
wants to have a baby you know, so now he's got to reverse this.
2:26:18
It which rarely works well you know, he doesn't he doesn't even
2:26:22
like the whole idea. But you know, she loves her so he's
2:26:27
probably gonna have to go for it so and that's a good it's a pain
2:26:32
in the ass. I mean, well, not really pale somewhere else where
2:26:36
so we can't we Other than that,
2:26:38
John C Dvorak: I think is symbolic. I think you're getting
2:26:40
you're just being Kim I think symbolic castration that's my
2:26:44
opinion.
2:26:45
Adam Curry: And say hi to your wife. I'm sure she loves
2:26:49
listening to the show and
2:26:50
John C Dvorak: I'm sure all of vasectomy victims out there that
2:26:52
listen to this show they just right at the moment there's
2:26:55

2:49:50
Is like
2:49:53
Adam Curry: we on time bow. Done a lot today. A lot of talking
2:49:59
I'm slipping a little bit but we're trying to work on ready
2:50:03
John C Dvorak: for us. I suppose.
2:50:05
Adam Curry: Me got only two.
2:50:07
John C Dvorak: I don't think I'm very I got three pay your two
2:50:09
ready for the big one.
2:50:13
Unknown: Thank you very much for your courage.
2:50:16
Adam Curry: Shit sound nothing good. Sorry. That's all I got
2:50:20
and I'm unprepared woefully unprepared for this. I'm sorry.
2:50:24
John C Dvorak: Okay, well, let's play minus if there's anything
2:50:25
here that's worth a crap. Okay, start with Saiga and so the saga
2:50:29
continues.
2:50:32
Adam Curry: Better than anything I got. Yeah. What's your next
2:50:34
one?
2:50:35
John C Dvorak: Sexism. Oh,
2:50:37
Unknown: this is blatant sexism.
2:50:41
Adam Curry: That fits a little more with our show. And the
2:50:45
third one,
2:50:46
John C Dvorak: the rain, the rain,
2:50:48
Adam Curry: Ginny is coming back. No, no, no, this is
2:50:51
Unknown: This is blatant sexism. That's us. I mean, that's fine.
2:50:55
John C Dvorak: I'll let it go.
2:50:56
Adam Curry: I mean, totally good with it. I mean, that whole
2:50:58
vasectomy segment. That was
2:51:00
John C Dvorak: sec. Well, I got a clip to follow on the
2:51:03
vasectomy segment. I thought people should at least hear
2:51:05
this. Okay. What do you guys are talking about it here too. Oh,
2:51:09
this is the clip China, S Korea, Japan, birth rates
2:51:15
Unknown: China, Japan and now South Korea. All these nations
2:51:19
are setting new records for low fertility. The demographic issue
2:51:23
has become a growing policy concern throughout much of East
2:51:26
Asia, where shrinking and aging populations are fueling labor
2:51:30
shortages. However, fewer than 250,000 babies were born in
2:51:33
South Korea in 2022. Officials say on average, a woman now
2:51:38
gives birth to about 0.78 children in her lifetime. That's
2:51:42
the lowest fertility rate in the OECD. Policymakers point to a
2:51:47
shift in the role of women in South Korean society. Many are
2:51:50
waiting both to get married and to have children. The government
2:51:54
is concerned and it's creating new incentives for couples to
2:51:56
expand their families, including help to get women back to work
2:52:00
post birth and more affordable housing. Well, South Korea is
2:52:04
not alone in seeing a low birth rate as a threat to its
2:52:06
survival. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo mele says the
2:52:10
issue has put Japan social support system on the verge of
2:52:13
collapse. And Chinese experts worry it will put the brakes on
2:52:17
Beijing's economic growth.
2:52:20
Adam Curry: Well, this takes me right back to the former New
2:52:22
York banker what he said. He said we we win, we win over
2:52:26
everybody. As long as we have enough more more people in
2:52:30
America. And the way we do that is just open the borders. That's
2:52:35
how you win that did that apparently is all that counts.
2:52:37
China, Japan, South Korea, they can't keep up. They have no
2:52:42
borders to let people into.
2:52:45
John C Dvorak: Brother is that no.
2:52:49
Adam Curry: I I'm reminded
2:52:51
John C Dvorak: you know that one of the things that was in that
2:52:52
little laundry list, which would maybe help was the get women
2:52:56
back to work. And I think maybe there's just the opposite.
2:53:00
Because if you look at the elites, the women delimiter they
2:53:05
do a lot but they don't have jobs. I could look at it. You
2:53:08
know, what was it unIess Kennedy by Robert Kennedy's wife had
2:53:12
like eight kids I mean, kids Robert Kennedy half Yeah,
2:53:15
something like that. The elites are reproducing like that. And
2:53:19
they don't make their mean she does work the work is raising
2:53:24
the eight kids this but along with 30 works ism. Yeah, there
2:53:29
you go. I get my sexism look, David handle write down my main
2:53:33
business,
2:53:33
Adam Curry: you know, you know, see Mike. See, Mike sent me you
2:53:36
may have gotten to two we got his Christmas letter, and his
2:53:39
piggy had eight kids. That's a nine one isn't heaven, but eight
2:53:42
kids. Now like go see, Mike. I think that I agree. We should be
2:53:49
making our own kids. Loss of them.
2:53:55
John C Dvorak: Though, I think I do have some other stuff. If you
2:53:58
want to play a role.
2:54:00
Adam Curry: I have something very important to play. And it's
2:54:02
a warning. Warning. It's a warning. It's a warning. And as
2:54:06
a celebrity in years gone by you
2:54:15
John C Dvorak: the washed up podcast is a washed
2:54:17
Adam Curry: up VJ with Tourette Syndrome. Back in the day, you
2:54:23
know, you can ask for stuff reality shows all kinds of
2:54:26
stuff. You know, sometimes it's one of those shows where they,
2:54:29
you know, they'll ask everyone the same 50 Questions like and
2:54:33
they package it into a special, like Best Songs of the 80s You
2:54:37
know, and then you know, they'll have little blip blips of little
2:54:40
clips of people and other times a little more long form show and
2:54:43
I want to warn against participating in shows that
2:54:47
could surprise you, for instance, and I saw this happen
2:54:51
in the UK I think it started in the UK this show and now it's a
2:54:55
it probably is maybe a BBC show. That's why PBS has it now here
2:54:59
it's called Hold on a second, what is it called? It's called
2:55:06
Find your roots. And what they do is though, so you so you're a
2:55:11
celebrity. And you know, and then they're going to trace your
2:55:15
roots and it always winds up like this. Your ancestors were
2:55:19
slave owners. I mean, this has always happened. Yes, this is
2:55:22
true.
2:55:23
John C Dvorak: I watched this guy gates, his black guy doesn't
2:55:26
have PVA, Henry Gates, Jr. Gates. It's always everybody was
2:55:30
a slave owner,
2:55:32
Adam Curry: they will they flip the script, they flip the
2:55:34
script. And they and here's a snippet of PBS is finding your
2:55:39
roots. And they and they and they, the celebrity in this case
2:55:45
was Angela Davis. Angela Davis, who admitted Marxist, Angela
2:55:49
Davis, who teaches people about the slavery of our country and
2:55:54
how we are horrible people. And here's the payoff.
2:55:58
Unknown: Any idea what you're looking at? That is list of the
2:56:01
passengers on the Mayflower? No, I can't believe this did not
2:56:09
come here on the mate. Your ancestors came on the Mayflower.
2:56:14
descendant, one of the 101 people who sailed on the
2:56:19
Mayflower.
2:56:24
That's a little bit too much
2:56:27
to deal with right now. Did you ever in your wildest dreams
2:56:30
think that you may have descended from people who laid
2:56:34
never the foundation? Never this? Never. Never? Whoa, you
2:56:41
got butt slap?
2:56:45
Adam Curry: I mean, that is unbelievable. A that they do
2:56:49
that to her? But did they broadcast it? I mean, isn't that
2:56:55
just crazy? It is crazy. And what a what a? I mean, all the
2:57:00
things she said about slavery. And her ancestors came over on
2:57:03
the Mayflower and participated actively in slavery. Obviously,
2:57:08
oh, goodness, is let this be a warning to all of you
2:57:10
celebrities or influencers or whatever you're called out
2:57:13
there. influencers? Let me see if I had anything else. Oh, yes.
2:57:20
This is probably worth mentioning. Since I don't know,
2:57:25
it may, I think, when it comes to an example of the if there's
2:57:31
a country where everyone can point to and say, oh, you know,
2:57:34
they should have not they should have listened. This should have
2:57:36
stayed in the EU, you know? Yeah, that Brexit big mistake.
2:57:40
Now you're all going to die.
2:57:42
Unknown: Yes. One as an independent act of frontline
2:57:44
journalism, your cameraman here, Mike Simon's and myself went to
2:57:48
the test goes behind us. And yes, they have no tomatoes, and
2:57:51
they're blaming adverse weather. So what's it all about? Well,
2:57:54
primarily, just that a run of unusually cold weather in
2:57:57
southern Spain, and North Africa, Tunisia, right across to
2:58:00
Egypt, where at this time of the year, the UK can get up to 95%
2:58:04
of its requirements of certain lines of vegetable smarter virus
2:58:08
in North Africa, adding into that, second, the energy crisis
2:58:11
we do use grows in the Netherlands quite intensively
2:58:14
this time of year. They've decided it's too expensive
2:58:17
because of electricity prices. You don't just have to heat up
2:58:20
the greenhouses. Of course, you have light the short hours of
2:58:23
daylight as well. It's too much they're not doing it. Then look
2:58:27
at what the NFU was saying just that it's conference last few
2:58:29
days that the amount of vegetables that we're growing
2:58:33
under glass is at its lowest level, certainly in some lines.
2:58:36
Minette batters, the NFU leader said since 1985, when Records
2:58:41
began, yes, it will get better. There's a thing called Spring
2:58:43
coming on British growers will kick in. It is temporary, but
2:58:47
maybe for go a few cucumbers, tomatoes and some lettuces and
2:58:51
peppers for the time being.
2:58:53
Adam Curry: So basically, there's a shortage of fruit and
2:58:55
veg in the UK and people are kind of freaking out. There's no
2:59:00
vegetables
2:59:00
John C Dvorak: and the shortage was there and Brexit it out or
2:59:03
not. It's all gonna be the shortage. Of course not,
2:59:05
Adam Curry: of course, but that's just being used now. Oh,
2:59:08
you shouldn't have Brexit issue.
2:59:10
John C Dvorak: You know, we have a cold snap out here, which is
2:59:13
another, you know, where's the global warming? Yeah, but up in
2:59:16
Port Angeles, they've had something which is really cold.
2:59:20
There was a first and I never heard of this. And it's never
2:59:24
happened before we've had to place up there forever. Straight
2:59:28
effects, no straight effect snow, just like lake effect
2:59:33
snow, but it's from the Straits of Juan de Fuca, which is the
2:59:36
northern part of that area between Canada and the United
2:59:40
States between Port Angeles and Victoria, Canada. That's the
2:59:43
Straits of Juan de Fuca and as snow is being formed off the
2:59:47
lake just like off the streets just like lake effect snow, and
2:59:51
it produces this which I've experienced once I knew I was in
2:59:54
Cleveland by coincidence. And would they had lake effect snow
2:59:58
and they're producing Lake Texas no in Washington now.
3:00:05
Adam Curry: At least that's what they're calling it. Who knows?
3:00:09
Who knows? I just I just I gotta get this one out to have you
3:00:16
seen Laura Barron Lopez? No, she is the new hot shit reporter at
3:00:24
the PBS NewsHour
3:00:28
John C Dvorak: she's probably seen her then.
3:00:30
Adam Curry: Oh man she is she's the total perfect multi CultI
3:00:34
girl.
3:00:35
John C Dvorak: Yeah, the when you can identify the
3:00:38
Adam Curry: name gives it away
3:00:39
John C Dvorak: but that name does but you can run into you
3:00:41
know Soledad O'Brien, for example, is a good example of
3:00:45
what is she?
3:00:46
Adam Curry: Well, I think she's Mexican. A Mexican American
3:00:49
Laura Barron Lopez. She's young. She comes from political as she
3:00:54
really no she came out of school into politico now she is. I
3:00:59
think they they're calling her Judy's replacement. Which seems
3:01:04
a bit
3:01:05
John C Dvorak: girl that's probably since she's the one who
3:01:07
does this. She's been doing Judy's replacement job for quite
3:01:11
a while the same person
3:01:12
Adam Curry: for the curly long hair now this can't be her.
3:01:15
Maybe she's replacing someone.
3:01:16
John C Dvorak: I'm sure it's this. What's your name? Um,
3:01:19
Adam Curry: so she's the White House correspondent for PBS
3:01:22
NewsHour. Okay.
3:01:23
John C Dvorak: The White House Chris White. Spell it.
3:01:26
Adam Curry: Bought own ba R O N dash Lopez. Laura Barron Lopez.
3:01:33
And cute smile.
3:01:35
John C Dvorak: No, I've seen this girl. Yeah.
3:01:37
Adam Curry: So but she's also a a pundit for CNN. And so
3:01:47
Unknown: she's on a roll. Yeah. And
3:01:49
Adam Curry: you know, so here's what happened. It was a huge
3:01:52
upset in journalism land, because Kevin McCarthy has given
3:01:56
Tucker Carlson 40,000 hours of January 6 tapes. And this of
3:02:02
course, is an outrage. He didn't give it to the people. No, he
3:02:05
gave it
3:02:06
John C Dvorak: to Tucker Carlson another topic of outrage pod.
3:02:09
Exactly. So everybody's going on and on about who cares. Let's
3:02:13
see what they come up with
3:02:14
Unknown: Kevin McCarthy is giving Fox's Tucker Carlson
3:02:16
access to 10s of 1000s of hours of January 6 security footage
3:02:20
your tax dollars paid for most of the cameras that captured the
3:02:24
scene inside and around the Capitol that day. With speaker
3:02:26
McCarthy is granting access only to Carlson and to Fox Carlson is
3:02:30
a frequent McCarthy critic who says the speaker has no
3:02:33
ideological core. Carlson also repeatedly spreads conspiracies
3:02:37
about the attack suggesting it was orchestrated somehow by the
3:02:40
deep state, the FBI, not the pro Trump mob, as we all witnessed,
3:02:45
our reporters are back around the table. Why?
3:02:49
Well, I think we have to ask, you know,
3:02:52
Adam Curry: this is her.
3:02:53
Unknown: We have to look at Tucker Carlson and the fact that
3:02:55
Tucker Carlson is one of the leading propagandists on Fox and
3:02:58
that he has lied Oh, January, repeatedly has lied about the
3:03:03
2020 election and the fact that this comes on the heels of
3:03:08
documentation and evidence showing that Tucker Carlson knew
3:03:11
that those were lies about election fraud around the 2020
3:03:15
election, still decided to go on air and talk about it. And
3:03:19
McCarthy knows that and he's deciding to hand it over to
3:03:22
someone who is going to filter the message anyway.
3:03:24
So is it is it than simply raw politics.
3:03:28
Adam Curry: But wait, there's more people sitting around this
3:03:30
table. These are all high level correspondents for CNN,
3:03:33
Unknown: Kevin McCarthy has only a four seat majority, Kevin
3:03:37
McCarthy could be recalled essentially by his members at
3:03:39
any moment. One of his sharpest critics happened to be one of
3:03:42
the most popular programs among the mega base and Kevin McCarthy
3:03:47
is saying Tucker, if I give you these tapes stop saying this.
3:03:49
McCarthy is not especially conservative. He is in fact
3:03:52
ideologically agnostic first released the January 6 files,
3:03:58
not some of the January 6 files and video, all of it. And
3:04:03
there's worse than that. Really a conservative he's agnostic, he
3:04:07
laughs with the breeze. Uh, he has said worse is that simply
3:04:10
what this is? Maybe if I give this to you, you'll be nice to
3:04:12
me. Well, I think yes. As it seems, Oh, you
3:04:17
Adam Curry: missed it. You still listen to listen to this show?
3:04:20
Go back, multi CultI girl giggle in the background. This guy says
3:04:23
Oh, clearly that's that's a quid pro quo.
3:04:25
Unknown: Worse than that. I mean, he said she said he's not
3:04:27
really a conservative. He's agnostic. He you know, perhaps
3:04:29
with the breeze, or he has said worse. Is that simply what this
3:04:32
is? Maybe if I give this to you, you'll be nice to me. Well, I
3:04:35
think your question is yes. pretty transparent
3:04:45
Adam Curry: There you go. People that's why we're here. Not to
3:04:49
bring you outrage but to laugh at stupid people. That's why
3:04:53
we're really here. Should we call it a day?
3:04:57
John C Dvorak: I think we better Okay.
3:04:59
Adam Curry: All right. We I have so much work to do our post
3:05:01
production kind of fix all the things we said wrong. Gotta edit
3:05:04
it out. Gotta make you sound a little more ballsy takes me
3:05:08
hours to do all that so
3:05:09
John C Dvorak: and get closer to the mic that'll
3:05:11
Adam Curry: help. We have end of show mixes coming up. Let me see
3:05:17
who we have. We've got Matty J. Mr. Information is back Sir
3:05:22
Michael Anthony and Steve No, not Steve Jones. We caught him
3:05:25

3:05:30

3:05:59

3:06:00
Adam Curry: on Sunday right here with another hours and hours and
3:06:04
hours long of your media deconstruction until then adios
3:06:07
mofos Hui Hui, and such
3:06:25
Unknown: back in the day that backer would say Do No Harm now
3:06:29
they're sick sick with a stick a prick in your arm. Be quiet,
3:06:32
just try it. No need for alarm. The real star stuff feels like
3:06:36

3:06:40

3:06:48
not alone but tribe itself that to the drones. They'll say that
3:06:51
you're crazier than gay on Jones for rationing gas. It's
3:06:54
happening fast. The times passing unmasking the sinister
3:06:58
side of high fashion. I tried to have compassion to live in let
3:07:01
live but refuse to be school stop pimping the kids use the
3:07:05

3:07:08

3:07:12
don't think they can change genders and turn to what six
3:07:15

3:07:19
did they derive that humanity inside us and hide us from the
3:07:22
truth with the news shit is ruthless. Produce clueless
3:07:26
humans, who conclude meditation is useless but she never met a
3:07:31

3:07:35

3:07:51

3:07:54
What's up New York City. This is your mayor up on Staten Island
3:07:59
where we just had a visit from Florida Governor Ron De Santis.
3:08:03
And you know, I had to throw some shade on Twitter. Well,
3:08:06
Governor, I hope you enjoyed your visit to New York City, a
3:08:10
place where our school libraries is rated x a place where
3:08:14
everybody is either a victim or oppressor, a place where we
3:08:18
invite all immigrants and then complain when they show up a
3:08:22
place where a human being ain't nothing but a clump of cells. So
3:08:26
you go on back down to Florida now you're hurt. All right in
3:08:29
New York City. I'm gonna see y'all later stay woke
3:08:44
and I will say that there no major plot twist waiting for
3:08:49
you.
3:08:50
We are now hearing from someone who was inside the grand jury
3:08:54
that investigated the election crimes of Donald Trump.
3:08:58
That's not the way I expected this to go at all.
3:09:00
Potentially. It might. That was really cool for me.
3:09:10
I would say that I don't think that there any like, especially
3:09:14
if they've been following the
3:09:15
investigation.
3:09:18
By I'm sure that might have been. Totally,
3:09:22
that was pretty much that. Okay, we're good bye.
3:09:25
John C Dvorak: They're doing Satan. Worship right in front of
3:09:28
her throwing it in their face. Yes. At the beginning.
3:09:32
Adam Curry: They come from sky. She is at the top of the pyramid
3:09:35
in the red dress. She is the Red Queen. Everyone knows this is
3:09:39
the Red Queen. This is the devil. Yeah, she's pregnant with
3:09:42
the Antichrist, of course, but get the throne. You didn't see
3:09:46
that? Well, let me let me break it down for you because I saw it
3:09:49
right. You'd seen her red dress, Sam Smith, Rihanna, heaven
3:09:54
forbid. So everybody's read. She's thrown the Illuminati
3:09:59
triangle. Satan worship Wait a minute Illuminati bull crap.
3:10:04
John C Dvorak: It was just dumb. I mean, I like I said I just
3:10:06
thought it was lousy but it was boring it's what I watch for
3:10:10
this what you watch for and this is where everyone thinks you're
3:10:13
great this is all Satan worship right in front of an NFL
3:10:18
audience is symbolic all ritual below 180 millions worldwide
3:10:22
once again she's
3:10:23
Adam Curry: pregnant with the Antichrist blows possible the
3:10:26
Antichrist has come up with the evidence
3:10:28
John C Dvorak: to prove it that was an IRA like just look at you
3:10:30
know, Thomas. Yeah, I think you probably right the queen is
3:10:34
Adam Curry: here to tell us
3:10:44
Unknown: hobo bora.org/in A, this is blatant
3:10:51
sexism.
